Ex-mayor Dan Sullivan has chosen to lose against Lisa Murkowski in the Republican primary.

Courtesy of AK Public Media:

Former Anchorage Mayor Dan Sullivan is running against U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski in the Republican Primary.

Sullivan filed minutes before the 5 p.m. deadline for getting on the ballot. It took the state Division of Elections some time to include Sullivan’s name on its list of candidates.

Nobody likes Dan Sullivan, and I mean NOBODY.

Oh he'll get some support from the teabaggers and some holy rollers, but he will be crushed by the GOP machine up here.

As I have said before for all intents and purposes Murkowski is bullet proof up here, and even though I am a Democrat I have little faith that either of the potential Democratic challengers will fair any better than Mayor Dan.

Besides if Sullivan won, both of Alaska's Senators would be names Dan Sullivan.

How stupid would that be?

In Maryland, Barbara Mikulski is retiring her senate seat. She is the longest serving woman in the US Congress.

Originally a social worker and community organizer, Mikulski was elected to the Baltimore City Council in 1971 after delivering a highly publicized address on the "ethnic movement" in America.[3] She was elected to the federal House of Representatives in 1976, and in 1986 she became the first woman elected to the United States Senate from Maryland.

Congressman Chris Van Hollen (D) will contest Kathy Szeliga, former chief of staff for republican congressman Andy Harris who lead the opposition to keep marijuana dispensaries in DC.

Barbara Mikulski first received national attention in 1970, because of her remarks at a conference at The Catholic University of America regarding “Ethnic Americans”.
Her message (below) became one of the major documents of the “ethnic movement”.

“ America is not a melting pot. It is a sizzling cauldron for the ethnic American who feels that he has been politically courted and legally extorted by both government and private enterprise. The ethnic American is sick of being stereotyped as a racist and dullard by phony white liberals, pseudo black militants and patronizing bureaucrats. He pays the bill for every major government program and gets nothing or little in the way of return. Tricked by the political rhetoric of the illusionary funding for black-oriented social programs, he turns his anger to race — when he himself is the victim of class prejudice.
[He] has worked hard all his life to become a 'good American;' he and his sons have fought on every battlefield — then he is made fun of because he likes the flag. The ethnic American is overtaxed and underserved at every level of government. He does not have fancy lawyers or expensive lobbyists getting him tax breaks on his income. Being a home owner, he shoulders the rising property taxes — the major revenue source for the municipalities in which he lives. Yet he enjoys very little from these unfair and burdensome levies.

... [T]he ethnic American also feels unappreciated for the contribution he makes to society. He resents the way the working class is looked down upon. In many instances he is treated like the machine he operates or the pencil he pushes. He is tired of being treated like an object of production. The public and private institutions have made him frustrated by their lack of response to his needs. At present he feels powerless in his daily dealings with and efforts to change them. Unfortunately, because of old prejudices and new fears, anger is generated against other minority groups rather than those who have power. What is needed is an alliance of white and black, white collar, blue collar and no collar based on mutual need, interdependence and respect, an alliance to develop the strategy for new kinds of community organization and political participation.[13]

The Maryland Congressman Who Messed With DC’s Marijuana Reform Could Be Replaced By a Pro-Pot Republican.

    https://www.washingtonian.com/2016/01/15/the-maryland-congressman-who-messed-with-dcs-marijuana-reform-could-be-replaced-by-a-pro-pot-republican/

Andy Harris won the republican primary on April 26. This is a race to watch because Harris' district, the Maryland Eastern Shore, will be the primary area in Maryland where marijuana grow farms will be located. These farms are being set up as we speak.

Medical marijuana is legal in Maryland although there are no dispensaries as of yet. Recreational marijuana was decriminalized.

I am going to register as a Republican for the first time in my life. I want to be counted as a GOPper who did NOT vote for Trump and to help Lisa in the primary. Could you imagine the kind of party planners old Dan would hire in DC? Last thing we need.

      WHY?
You can vote the GOP without becoming one in AK.

    NAMES Read this>
"reading an article by Mic’s Cooper Fleishman, you would see his name as “Cooper (((Fleishman)))” to single him out as Jewish.
The “echo” tag is a reference to the neo-Nazi notion that “all Jewish surnames echo throughout history” if you’re on social media and you see a Trump fan putting multiple parentheses around someone’s name, it’s because they’re marking them as Jewish"

Gryph, I think it is unfair to say that NOBODY likes Dan Sullivan.

    Bernadette Wilson likes him.
