Harry Reid now pushing for Elizabeth Warren to be Hillary Clinton's VP. Now we're talking.

Courtesy of HuffPo:

Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) believes Elizabeth Warren should be the running mate of presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, according to four Senate sources familiar with Reid’s thinking.

Reid had initially been skeptical of the chatter around Warren, publicly warning that Democrats couldn’t afford to lose the seat the Massachusetts senator currently occupies. But The Boston Globe reported last week that he tasked attorney Marc Elias with studying how manageable the loss would be. Elias is, not coincidentally, the general counsel for Clinton’s campaign.

So how does Senator Warren feel about all of this?

Courtesy of Reuters:

U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren has considered the idea of serving as Hillary Clinton's running mate but sees obstacles to that choice as she prepares to endorse the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, several people familiar with Warren's thinking told Reuters.

While her thinking could evolve, Warren has concerns about joining a Clinton ticket, including the question of whether running two women would give the Democrats the best shot at defeating Republican Donald Trump, one source said.

Advisers to Warren, a fiery critic of Wall Street and a popular figure among progressive Democrats, have been in close contact with Clinton's campaign team and the conversations have increased in frequency in recent weeks, the sources said. Warren has signaled to people close to her that she is intrigued by the possibility of being Clinton's No. 2 but has not discussed the role with Clinton, 68, or anyone else from her campaign, the people said.

So dear readers the question for us to ponder is whether Elizabeth Warren really has concerns about joining the 2016 ticket, or whether or not this is mostly a negotiation tactic designed to get more concessions from the Clinton camp before Warren signs on.

Personally I think they are much closer to a deal than either side is willing to let on.

And let me just say once again that this is the BEST ticket in 2016 for the Democrats.

Period!

Of that I have no doubt.

As much as there are many of us that would love to see Warren with Hil, I don't see Hil doing that. It is nice to be wrong sometimes.

HEY CALIFORNIA, YOUR ELECTION WAS RIGGED.... A felony conviction may prevent you from voting in states like Florida, but having a arm-long rap sheet doesn’t disqualify you from counting millions of other people’s votes. Just ask Katherine Harris.

CA was not rigged. The Obama Coalition worked hard & clobbered Sanders. He knew he was going to
lose here, because his CA campaign manager told him so in late April. So they fired him in May, and fired a lawsuit (or his "supporters" did *wink*) against the state. During this time, hundreds of thousands of voters mailed in their votes, so HRC started on Election Day +17. Bernie only had hashtags and rallies here. His phone banks never even met half of their targets.

Bernie, who is a legitimately gifted politician, could not win through hashtags and rallies; neither will Trump.

Are the problems being reported in California as "just chaos" (LATimes) and "mired in voting problems" (HuffPo) as bad as some are reporting them to be? The main concerns, at this hour, seem to involve failed electronic ballot readers at L.A. polling places (which don't actually tabulate votes anyway) and voters forced to cast Provisional Ballots (some 240k in LA County alone) for a variety of reasons, some legit, some a bit more troubling.

Democratic Presidential Nominee Hillary Clinton do not, I repeat DO NOT pick Socialist Senator Bernard Sanders (I-Vermont) as your vice-president running mate.

And, there would be Bernie-like rallies for her, while Clinton's would be more staid. Better someone like Tim Kaine or Sherrod Brown from Ohio. JMO But not either of the Castros from Texas at this point, way too young and inexperienced. She will jeopardize the whole enchillata if she chooses Julian Castro. I do not see two women on the Dem ticket winning, not in 2016 but another election or to from now, sure. I now live in CA and people out here are used to women at the top when it comes to politics, but not so in much of the country.

I do disagree about people who wouldn't vote for a Clinton-Warren ticket also not voting for Hillary no matter who her running mate was. Many conservative Dems are going to vote for HC. I know my dad and my brothers and people in that part of the Cleveland area are ready to vote for HC now, but they would see an all-female ticket as going too far. Many males would. They'd see it as an insult--they'd take it personally and automatically protest by now at least looking toward the GOP ticket, and if Trump should have a decent veep on his ticket they just might vote that way. This whole idea of Hillary as the Dem candidate versus sexism is something that really hits close to home for me. I grew up in white suburban Ohio and I am sure that a Clinton-Warren ticket would have plenty of backlash. Northeast Ohio has always been more liberal than other parts of Ohio, but there are still plenty of conservative Dems who could go GOP. Many men would be po'd and, yeah, even some females would too. Warren's great, but pushing her onto the ticket now would turn off many voters who have finally come around just to the idea of a woman as pres.

And not just any woman but Hillary--they see her differently from how they see other women. We on IM are among the people for whom this is so past due, but there are millions of people out there who have taken forever to get to the point of having a woman on the ticket, and for so many people the only truly acceptable woman is Hillary. And we are very familiar with Warren, but in reality much of the country is not and even once they got to know her they would still not be able to bring themselves to go for an all-female ticket. Plus if Trump picks someone who is admired a great deal in this country, and especially if that person is from a swing state, I see votes going over to the GOP. I know old Dems who all their life would say that no Repub ever did anything for the good of the people and yet they are still struggling with the idea of a female candidate. As much as I admire Warren and a part of me would love top force the all-female issue, in much of middle America it just wouldn't fly. The only chance it would have is if Trump picked someone horrible as veep.

Whatever the case, as much as I like Warren my vote is still for Sherrod Brown. I think HC can go with and should go with someone more liberal and unorthodox, but there are only certain acceptable people who fit that bill, and SB is one of them.

As much as I've been complaining about some of Bernie's behavior, I do admire him. He believes in certain things and this is his chance to really be heard and to have the voices of his millions of supporters heard. I get why he's not just walking away.

    The Presumptive nominee Poll Bump

So, remember when we heard all those people worrying that Trump was beating Hillary in the polls, and some of us , including Kos, said it was a “ Presumptive Nominee” bump…. well we were right..

look at the latest Rasmussen Poll

The latest Rasmussen Reports weekly White House Watch survey shows Clinton taking a four-point lead over Trump – 42% to 38% - among Likely U.S. Voters. Fifteen percent (15%) still prefer some other candidate, while five percent (5%) remain undecided.

Even they admit about the fading glow of Trump as the nominee

Clinton now earns 74% of the vote from Democrats, up from 68% last week, suggesting that some of Bernie Sanders’ support may be moving her way now that their primary battle is over. Trump has the backing of 72% of Republicans, down from 76% in the previous survey. It remains to be seen whether these are developing trends.

Did anyone hear Trump ranting at a rally last week about how much Obama and Clinton "hate" each other? He keeps claiming they hate each other's guts, too. Such BS. I love that new video Obama put out today. Fuck you, Trump. Loser. Oh, and let's see who makes such a video praising and endorsing you.

  43. I love Elizabeth Warren and have no doubt she would be a good VP. However, as has already been stated in these comments, we NEED her to stay in the Senate and continue to be our guard dog! Her work there is not yet done; it will be exciting to watch her reach her potential following her years in the Senate.

And, what if Elizabeth skipped the presidency crap and went straight to the Supreme Court, later?!?

Hillary NEEDS all the support she can muster in the Senate and Elizabeth is capable of herding the cats (not an easy thing to do, literally).

TNBlueDot@10:55am, I hope she or Sanders will succeed Reed and rally the democratic wing into some sort of cohesive unit in order to dominate the regressives. Of course, in order for them to succeed, we will have to VOTE! not merely for the top jobs, but down-ballot, DAMMIT!

The news should not be about Sanders.

The news should be about Sarah Palin finding someone to marry her promiscuous daughter, not about Sanders loss.

I care because she married Dakota Meyer.

He was supporting Ted Cruz one minute and in a NY minute turned and now he supports Donald Trump.

Can you imagine the force when those two join Sarah and campaign for Trump? It will be awesome!!

They will make a mince meat shit pile out of Hillary. Trump will now resurrect from his little slump to come back and trash talk and beat Clinton. Warren, too, if she his anointed.

Trump needs a good woman at his side. Now that the marriage was finally arranged Sarah has her military cred and a wholesome unified family. It is a dream come true. Now they can get to work like politicians and save the Republican party to boot.

      Well... define troll, please.

From context, it would seem to be anyone not kissing Hillary's asshole. Hopefully, you don't mean the peeps who are holding their noses to vote for Hillary.

I promise it makes the nose-holding easier to be able to vent here about the wholesale dismissal of Bernie's ideals.

Do you think the White House staff is welcoming Bill and Hillary back with open arms and hearts? No. The Clinton's were rude as shit to them. Does that hinder my ability to capitulate and vote for her? No. Bernie is an asshole to everyone; Hillary is an asshole to servants.

... just guessing that one has to be somewhat of an asshole to get anything done in Washington. Ergo, the confusion over whom you consider to be a troll.

Since the conservatives figured out how persuasive a blog IM is. But I'm not answering them anymore. They are so redundant and low info; they mostly just hate women. I have started to wonder if some of them are robots. They cannot think, spell, or "do math," and are unable to engage on issues. It's just not worth it to try anymore. We need to keep positive and focus on defeating racist and insane Trump.

That would be admitting that Clinton is a weak candidate and can only be bolstered by a popular person as VP.
