Mass shooting at gay nightclub in Florida. Multiple fatalities. Update!

Courtesy of CNN:

Approximately 20 people are dead inside Pulse nightclub, Orlando Police Chief John Mina said Sunday morning, just hours after a shooter opened fire in the club. At least 42 people have been transported for medical treatment, he said.

Police have shot and killed the gunman, Mina told reporters.

"It's appears he was organized and well-prepared," the chief said, adding that the shooter had an assault-type weapon, a handgun and "some type of (other) device on him." Orlando authorities said they consider the violence an act of domestic terror. The FBI is involved.

The shooting began around 2 a.m., and an officer responded, Mina said. The officer engaged in a shootout outside the club, after which the gunman ran into the club.

"That turned into a hostage situation," Mina said. Authorities were getting calls from people inside the club but away from the gunman, the chief said.

More police rushed to the scene and broke down a door with an armored vehicle, helping some 30 clubgoers flee to safety, Mina said. At that point police shot and killed the gunman, he said.

The suspect has been identified as Omar Mateen though that seems to be all the authorities know about him right now.

This is still an ongoing investigation so it has not yet been determined if this was an act of international terrorism, a  hate crime, or simply some lunatic who decided to kill a bunch of people because he was bored and had access to an assault rifle.

Since this was a gay club there is of course the strong possibility that this individual targeted the club for that reason, but since the investigation is ongoing there is no definitive proof as to the motive.

Of course Donald Trump is ready to jump to conclusions.
Here is some amateur video taken by a witness. In it you can hear the number of shots fired, and see the dead and wounded being tended to on the street outside of the nightclub.

Update: We are now learning that the number of dead has reached 50, with 53 injured.

So, which will the bigots decide they hate more, Muslims or gays? The Lt. Gov of Texas already said it was retribution for mocking God, so it's clear who he hates more.

    4. It IS terrorism, and at the same time also a hate crime, because it targeted a specific group of people (gays, and potentially hispaics, if the above mention is correct that it was 'Latino night' at the club).

Of course the pee pond is blaming Islam with shouts of "jihadi!" Mateen's father told NBC News, "this has nothing to do with religion." His son got angry when he saw two men kissing in Miami a couple of months ago and thinks that may be related to the shooting.

The right wing have already declared it to be an Islamic terrorist attack, which will guarantee that (a) Trump has secured the gay vote, (b) the state of Florida will unanimously vote for Trump and (c) the world will finally see that Trump is "keeping us safe", and Hillary "doesn't care" about gays. How they will reconcile all this to their rumored dislike of gays and people of colors other than white remains to be seen, in view of the fact that this horrific event took place in a gay club, and many of the attendees appear to be non-white... oh wait, blame Obama - that'll cover all the bases.

Fox has already blamed the entire event on Obama, claiming it's due to Obama's lax policies about Muslims.

Whaaaaaat?????? This shooter was an American citizen, a security guard, and licensed to carry firearms. Florida is a gun-loving state, and the man broke no laws before opening fire. In the words of the NRA, he was a 'law-abiding citizen'.

The real question that should be asked is, why was an FBI agent (wearing a red shirt) in the night club BEFORE the shooting – and what, if any, relationship did he have with the shooter prior to the event?????? Is/was this just one more government-instigated (without Obama's knowledge, surely) event at the hands of rogue government agents??? THAT is the angle of the story that should receive the most scrutiny, but that will surely be brushed under the rug.

Another essential question to ask is whether people shot by Muslims in America are really more dead than people shot by angry white right-wing extremists. Because the obvious answer is no, why are both types of murder treated so extremely differently???? Why are mass murders committed by white men always described by entirely different catch words, couched in different agendas, coupled with an entirely different set of emotions, and urged to be punished differently??? The motives in both cases are exactly the same: murder.

It's astounding to watch the gay-hating righties fall all over themselves as they pontificate over this incident. These same individuals are obviously unmoved about all the (non-Moslem-instigated) murders, homicides, and suicides (over 100,000 per YEAR!) that are a direct result of their beloved firearms and Second Amendment policies – the very same policies that resulted in last night's Orlando massacre.

      Yep. A convenient false flag.
Particularly interesting is a comment under the video linked above to youtube. An eyewitness is commenting that the guy in the red white and blue t shirt who was interviewed on CNN as a civilian, is actually an fbi agent who was working the scene with the FBI. The only person in regular clothes who was allowed in a staging area.
So, he is wither an off duty fbi agent helping out but wishing to stay anonymous because he was in a gay club, or he knew the attack was coming and was undercover, or this is a false flag.
Looking back on 9/11 there were many fbi or cia agents or planted actors who gave the narrative that was supposed to be given to the media. I recall one in particular who as soon as first tower came down was on news getting the hot jet fire story that caused the steel to collapse.

Courtesy of religion, parents in Idaho can let their diabetic chilren die of neglect, and not get prosecuted.

Courtesy of religion, Indiana has jailed a woman who had a MISCARRIAGE, and is now serving 15-20.

Courtesy of religion, (read up on history) and the combined stupidity of the USA, England, and Russia, the entire Mid-east is embroiled in wars, and Muslims are even killing each other over minor doctrinal differences.

Courtesy of religion, millions of evangelicals are about to vote for a 3 time adulterer narcissistic idiot named Trump.

Be 18 and have no felony convictions.

Requirements to get a pistol in Japan
To get a gun in Japan, first, you have to attend an all-day class and pass a written test, which are held only once per month.

You also must take and pass a shooting range class.

Then, head over to a hospital for a mental test and drug test (Japan is unusual in that potential gun owners must affirmatively prove their mental fitness), which you’ll file with the police.

Finally, pass a rigorous background check for any criminal record or association with criminal or extremist groups, and you will be the proud new owner of your shotgun or air rifle.

Just don’t forget to provide police with documentation on the specific location of the gun in your home, as well as the ammo, both of which must be locked and stored separately.

And remember to have the police inspect the gun once per year and to re-take the class and exam every three years.

As expected, there are simultaneous outcries that:

    1. We are NOT allowed to even hint at possibly limiting access to weapons that can kill large numbers of people in minutes because it's JUST TOO SOON and we would be exploiting a terrible tragedy.

    2. We should immediately begin closing our borders and banning all Muslims from entering this country, and put all the Muslims already here on watchlists (if we can't throw them out of the country altogether) because it's obviously a case of Islamic terrorism.

And they see absolutely no conflict between these two demands. Stunningly ignorant.

Unbelievable. No doubt Trump and the NRA are getting a serious hard on about the prospect of arming every American citizen (except the darker ones) with an assault rifle. Because it's in the Constitution!

Giving more people guns will result in more shootings, not less. And the majority of these shootings will be impulsive suicides & homicides, plus a good deal of accidents that are entirely preventable.

Our Constitution and the founding fathers were mostly decent and had great ideas. But when science and technology changes, we have to update our laws to change with it.

If you want to play with guns that are used by the military, join up.

If you can't or won't, I have an idea: Strictly regulate high power weapons that were designed to kill people. I'm not a gun fan, but I know plenty who like them and target shoot. I don't want to destroy their hobby.

But we could compromise & make it safer. We could let only shooting ranges own assault rifles & the like.

Customers come to the range and check out their weapon of choice, If new or inexperienced, an employee helps them & teaches them safety rules. When the customer is finished, they return the assault rifle to the range.

    This is common sense.

"Destroy their hobby?" Gee, not enough to shoot at targets with regular rifles? They can only get it up when they can explode the target?

The victims and their family and friends are who matter most, of course.

This said, among other things I'm wondering about the killer is about his job as a security person at a facility for juvenile delinquents. I have to wonder how he was on the job and what his records there have in them. He also had a violent marriage that lasted only a few months and the wife's family took her out of the home.
As well, he seems to have posted a number of selfies and they look posed as if he thought of himself as hot. Of all the other things she could have said about him, his ex-wife said he was committed to working out. So far, there's been no word on a romantic/domestic relationship since his divorce (he does, though, have a three-year-old child). For all his very recent so-called religious statements, he sounds like someone full of himself and I imagine there will be a number of stories about him coming out soon.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Anonymous11:11 AM

His father said that the killer wasn't motivated by religion but what he had seen of two men kissing. He expressed his sympathy for the victims. The father sounded completely in the dark about any political leanings in his son. And yet it says online that the father once ran for president of Afghanistan and also expressed his support of the Taliban. He's on YouTube making what appear to be political speeches (which I don't know the words of). He has a non-profit in his name (I don't know what it's for yet). The father and rest of the family may be very happy now living in the US as they do, but it does seem--seem--that the father is showing a side of himself and the family that may not be quite accurate. We'll see in due time.

There needs to be a litmus test as we're full up of crazy christians already and the last thing we need is another fundamentally crazy bunch of religious people adding to the problems we already have from the christians.

I think we need to shut down our borders for a bit and really do lengthy background checks on anyone that is attempting to enter here, much less live here. A few decades of that will stop the madness and just leave us with the crazy fundy christians, who are dying out, which have been around forever, but one terroristic group of religious fanatics is more than enough for one country to deal with.
