Mayor Dan drops out.

Courtesy of the Newsminer:

Former Anchorage Mayor Dan Sullivan withdrew from the race for U.S. Senate today two weeks after he made a last-minute surprise entrance into the Republican primary against incumbent U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski.

Announced in a statement posted to the Alaska Republican Party’s website, Sullivan said “conservative leaders” encouraged him to enter the race the day before the June 1 filing deadline, and he filed to “keep that option open as I vetted whether or not that would be the best path forward for my family and for Alaska.”

In the statement, he said after consideration he wanted to keep his focus on local and state issues.

"However, after evaluating that information and discussing options with friends and family, I have decided to withdraw from the August primary election,” he said. “I believe I can best serve Alaska by staying in Alaska and working on local and statewide issues.”

In other words he does not want to get his ass handed to him by Lisa Murkowski in the primaries, which is absolutely certain to happen.

It's kind of too bad actually, I would really like to watch that happen.

As for the best way he can serve Alaska, well that would be by getting the hell out of Alaska and taking his sleazy politics with him.

  3. Somewhat OT, but apologies if you're already going to cover this, but the Wasilla wendigo has poked her head up to spew her usual poison - about Orlando and Obama.

Sarah Palin has never been shy about her unfavorable opinions regarding President Barack Obama.

Her Friday criticism may strike some as odd, however. In a Facebook rant, Palin called the Harvard Law-educated president a “special kind of stupid” in all-capital letters. Palin was apparently upset about Obama’s efforts to enact gun regulations in the wake of the most deadly mass shooting in recent U.S. history.

Am so glad she is supporting trump. I like it when she expouses her venom because it reminds everyone of how horrible and worthless she is. Isn't it funny that Trump is just like her.

Can't wait for the day when the palin compound goes on the auction block. They wouldn't let her in the pioneers home.

The Palin compound on the dead lake in south central Alaska would have as much trouble selling as is their home in AZ!

Who in the hell would bid on it in a foreclosure? Yuk!!! Anything they have lived in would be the last place I'd enter!

I think Dan Sullivan is a slime bucket! He screwed around on his wife, drinks too much and was a horrible leader! I never voted for him!

Actually find him physically repulsive! What an ego!

11:44 AM Time to ignore the idiot from Wasilla! Kind of like Trump - if they aren't covered by the internet or media - they don't get the attention they want and will eventually go away FOREVER!

No need to bring her into this segment of the blog as we are discussing Dan Sullivan!

The other evening I was sipping wine with my lovely neighbor on my front steps. She grew up right in the center of Alaska but has lived in Seattle for a few years. We were expressing our sadness over the Orlando massacre and our mutual disdain over Trump. She brought up Sarah Palin and her elk and she was genuinely so sad (and embarrassed) that the Palins have stained Alaska with their presence. She wished more and more people knew how beautiful and special Alaska is even though Alaska is home to the Loser Palin Family. It made me sad to see her like this.

...Here we get back to the simple, critical difference between between the primaries and the general election. Trump supporters exist entirely within the Trump fact bubble. They were more than sufficient to win the Republican primaries. They either believe his claims or are indifferent to their accuracy. The Trump world is based on a self-contained, self-sustaining bullshit feedback loop. Trump isn't racist. He's actually the least racist person in America. Hispanics aren't offended by his racist tirades against Judge Curiel. He's going to do great with Hispanics! Didn't you see the new Hispanics for Trump Facebook page? He'll put California in play and it won't even be that hard.

Trump can say he's going to get historically high numbers of African-American votes, but the worried Republican officials he's talking to know that's nonsense after he says it just as much as they did before he said it.

Trump's problem is that the general election puts him in contact with voters outside the Trump bubble and just as important necessary allies (all Republican office holders) who rely on voters outside the Trump fact bubble. Not that many maybe, but enough of them.

To put it more concretely, as I said at the top, the general election puts a bullshit based candidacy in direct contact with the reality based world. That creates not only turbulence but turbulence that builds on itself because the interaction gets in the spokes of each of these two, fundamentally different idea systems. You're seeing the most telling signs of that with the growing number of Republicans who, having already endorsed Trump, are now literally refusing to discuss him or simply walking away when his name is mentioned.

Listen to this stand up comedy by a 13 year old and she nails Trump. The part that was the most satisfying is that the audience was on their feet cheering and clapping. Made me happy to see that Americans are on board!

O/T: James Carville will debate Sarah Palin at Politicon in Pasadena, California on June 26.

Bets are already being taken on whether Sarah will quit halfway through.

I love James Carville but fear he'll be too nice and easy on her - much as Joe Biden was back in the day.

I want some guy to take her to the woodshed in a debate and clean her evil clock! She needs to be taken down and demolished much as she does others on a daily basis.

She's such an idiot and flares up so easily. She'd be easy to get going in a debate so that all would see her true colors! (and, remember - she is a racist!)

How do we find out if they are giving her the questions prior to the debate so that she memorize her answers. Remember how they tried to work with her when she ran with McCain? She wouldn't listen to anyone! She's such an idgit!

Who wrote this? A Trump supporter? Sure sounds like it!

Trump is a racist and a bullshitter! He will lose the vote of the folks he has made racist comments about -

And, he will NOT be elected POTUS!

James Carville pointed out that she can't speak in sentences and people are always telling him to speak English.

It's not a debate, he will be interviewing her. It's called a "conversation".

Any bets on how soon the pandering whore will mention his wife?

That guy Sullivan surrounds himself with some WEIRD women.
-- On the left, black dress, what's wrong with her neck?

    -- On the left, front, patterned dress . . . hmmmm . . . how to say this . . . she's . . . well . . . she's . . .

-- Then there's the blonde on the right who needs to have her roots done.

Ol' Dan sure knows how to pick 'em. Or pick 'em up.

I don't know why it's guaranteed that Lisa Murkowski would get the Republican nomination. I don't care if she does or not, all she proved after her write in victory is that she's a wingnut before she's an Alaskan.
