Okay if this whole Elizabeth Warren thing falls through this is my second choice for Hillary's VP.

Courtesy of Politico:

If Hillary Clinton asked him, Al Franken says, he would gladly join the presumptive Democratic nominee as her running mate.

The Minnesota senator said in an interview with the Associated Press that to his knowledge, he is not being vetted for a vice presidential bid, but Franken, a former comedian and “Saturday Night Live” writer, has been a longtime Clinton backer and would jump on board the campaign if invited.

“If Hillary Clinton came to me and said, ‘Al, I really need you to be my vice president, to run with me,’ I would say yes,” Franken said. “But I’m very happy in the job that I have right now.”

Don;t get me wrong, I am all in for Warren.

But damn could you even imagine the entertainment value of having Al Franken on stage during the Vice Presidential debates?

I wonder if they could work in a map drawing competition as part of the debate?

That never ceases to impress me.

I'm torn. I want as many liberal senators as possible to remain in the Senate, but I LLLOOOOOOOVVVEEEE Al Franken. However, he is more experienced than Warren and could get more done. While Warren may bring in more former Bernie supporters, having read posts by the former BSers I'm not convinced they would vote for a woman. What is your daughter saying these days, Gryphen?

Bernie supporters will fall in line and vote for Hillary, if they are indeed Democrats, or Independents.
      No worries.

Really? That fall in line and if you were a real Democrat is the excuse you use to justify the Bernie Bashing and continual insults and belittling of his supporters?

I see. You can call them fucking children because if they were real Democrats they'd still fall in line and vote for Hillary.

Are you so sure about that?

I am super-impressed with Al Franken. I think he is not only brilliant but has a beautiful way of dealing with people who are not of his liberal persuasion. I remember seeing him talk with some t-party people at a state fair and he very gently and humorously was able to make a point with them. Which is a big deal, now more than ever.

It’s Official — Bernie Sanders Is Staying In The Race And Will Not Concede

...Therefore, progressive media and pundits should refrain from their gleeful calls to end Bernie’s campaign. Vermont’s Senator is taking his political revolution to Philadelphia and he’ll continue to run for the presidency.

    Why would he stop?

Would you end your presidential campaign if your opponent faced on ongoing FBI criminal investigation?

Bernie Sanders, his campaign, and millions of supporters throughout the nation and world must wait until July 25th, knowing that the FBI will likely disclose its findings of Clinton’s email investigation before the Democratic convention. POLITICO confirmed the other day that Clinton’s email investigation is a “criminal investigation,” as stated by Federal Judge Emmet Sullivan:

I like Al. I've had the opportunity to meet both him and Franni in social settings a few times. I do think the only downfall would be that Minnesota is going to go blue no matter what and maybe, just maybe a selection from another state could turn that VP's state blue. BTW, I think it is also the only negative against Warren also.

Not as likely as you might think. VP choices apparently don't really influence the vote when all is said and done: http://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2016/04/election-2016-vice-president-selection-matters-less-than-you-think-213805

Selecting a VP has no effect on turning a state or recruiting voters.

For instance Julian Castro will not turn Texas blue or gain hispanic voters. They are likely to vote for Hillary anyway.

A VP needs to be qualified to be president, which Franken is, be able to be an attack dog and a master at diplomacy and words and be able to work politically with the president to get policy passed. I think Franken is more in the Warren/Sanders camp but he has the personality to be able to work with Hillary. He is also wicked smart.

He would be a brilliant choice.

It would also put him in line to run in the future.

Which is why he won't be picked. The party has already chosen their golden children.

That is why a nobody like Castro is being pushed and a brilliant choice like Franken will always be passed over.

Elizabeth Warren isn't going to agree to be Hillary's VP.

She's not even considering Sanders even though polls show he'd bring her the most votes (whether you like it or not) thus ensuring a Trump loss by wide and safe margins.

Personally I would love to see her pick Franken. He's wicked smart and could squish Trump like a bug as well as Warren.

It would be a strong choice.

But I'm sure she's going to choose Castro and thus risk losing the election. And for what? He brings nothing to the ticket.

Franken has name recognition and experience. He's handled himself very well on committees.

I have no idea why she isn't considering him.
