Oops, the Supreme Court has some potential bad news for Track Palin.

Courtesy of Mother Jones:

Should domestic abusers who get convicted of minor domestic-violence charges get to keep their right to own guns just because their crimes were merely reckless, as opposed to premeditated? That's more or less the question the Supreme Court was considering in Voisine v. US, a somewhat obscure case that was languishing on the court's docket as one of the last cases decided of the term. In a 6-2 opinion written by Justice Elena Kagan, the high court answered that question with a muted "no."

The case challenges a 1996 amendment to the federal Gun Control Act, sponsored and named after the late New Jersey Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D), that barred people convicted of misdemeanor domestic-violence offenses from owning firearms. Violating the law carried a federal felony charge with a 10-year maximum sentence attached. The law was a triumph for women's advocates because it recognized that people guilty of domestic violence were rarely charged with felonies and banned from gun ownership, and that there was a documented relationship between domestic violence and gun homicides. The law was designed to keep guns out of the hands of those perps, even when they'd only been convicted of misdemeanors.

So according to the Supreme Court even if you only got drunk and punched your girlfriend in the face, while waving a gun around, without premeditation,  you still must surrender your 2nd Amendment rights.

Oh that is not go to go over well at a certain compound by a dead lake.

Though in all fairness Track has not yet been convicted of attacking his now pregnant fiance and beating her like a stray dog, so perhaps he can still avoid having to give up the guns that were more precious to him than his own daughter.

However I think that if anybody were to ask the people around Track if he should keep his arsenal we would hear a resounding NO.

Well except for his mother of course, who believes that guns don't cause domestic violence, bitches who don't know their place cause domestic violence.

The temper was a longstanding problem. Hockey is a raw sport, but Mr. Palin pushed the limits and often got kicked out of games in Wasilla and at least once in Michigan... on the ice, he was an animal...

“Track has a temper so sometimes you’d only see him half the game,” [longtime family friend Curt] Menard said. “Get there late and he’d already be out.”

You know it's bad when your own father says it's bad. If this weren't a privileged kid of parents with clout he would have faced the music a LONG time ago. A great many young people face far worse punishment for far less than what this out-of-control, substance-abusing, dangerous young man has gotten away with.

Fuck off Alicia, stop kissing palin ass! You don't know jack-shit! Trick-Track is nothing but a fuckin' loose cannon, drug and booze-fuelled loser couch slug! The "combat vet" fairy tale is a outright lie, concocted by his liar mother and her enablers! $arah pulled strings to get him off the hook for past misdeeds. She knew that she was being tapped as McCain's running mate; he would be an embarrassment to her and McCain if jail time was given. It would have blown the "hockey mom" image to hell! Her image and ambition were more important than him! "Stolen valour" is correct! He is a fuckin' insult to those who served their country with distinction and honour!!

"I observed the male had a visible injury to his right eye and the area around his eye," Kappler said. "His eyes were bloodshot and I detected a strong odor of alcohol on his breath and person. Upon contacting Palin, he was uncooperative, belligerent, and evasive with my initial line of questions."

I remember playing Lincoln Logs and Legos with my grandparents, oh what fun! But that stage passed pretty quickly, like when I hit five years old maybe? So Track "Builds Things" takes after his stepdaddy Todd and the immigration fence when Joe rented the house next door. Does he build adobe houses with his own dung beetles and poop?

So even IF he actually is convicted of something, how do you keep him form having a gun? There must be an arsenal at the compound, and you can bet it's all loaded and not locked up. Little war hero Track can get his hands on whatever he wants, whenever he wants it. I wonder if, when someone is shot, Mommy Dearest is finally culpable?

    3. Anonymous6:26 AM

Possession and use of a gun illegally would be another crime. The question is do we as society ignore bad behavior or acts turning a blind eye with an attitude of well they will do it anyway? Or do we take a stand supporting limits, laws to be abided and consequences for breaking societal rules and laws that exist to protect everyone?

Sometimes parents are found culpable. In this case Obama was blamed for alleged PTSD and implied guilt as if Obama was all at fault for personal issues that escalated. Reality was a big story was spun that Bristol was sexually assaulted to cover up for drunk offspring brawling out of control language and violence at a party. IMO adults who lied are guilty of enabling behavior that escalated to beating a girlfriend, violence when drunk escalating to threatening death with a gun. LOL Obama had nothing to do with any of that. Nor parents and family turning a blind eye lying for them either.

I have some relatives, a family who are similar.

Everyone knows about Track and Jordan. They drink and drug and that is why they have friends. Track lives in a fantasy land and the drink and drugs do not help. Before he had to be hidden away he would talk to people and drink in public. Ask those people about what he yammers about.

If I left town and my arsenal along with my son and family's weapons (with fighting drunks like they all know Track and Jordan are). I would have been arrested.

The police would have charged Todd and Sarah in some places, not Wasilla.

We know why they live in Wasilla and can never move.

Oh no, they are stuck. Yes the people of Alaska don't do anything. They say they don't like this family, yet they do nothing to even keep the community or children safe.

No one even cares about Trig and the poor kids at Bristol's house. She gave the drunks alcohol and sent them to drunk drive when the kept fighting.

Now those poor kids have the only type person who would associate with that family of enablers. The other brawl idiot that drinks, collects money from taxpayers for PTSD that he does not go to treatment for. He fits right in and to the Palins, that is a hero.

I am glad you mention that. It may be behind the decline of America. It might be a yuuge effect on how Trump got where he is with his game to run for president. It may have everything to do with how Sarah Palin is able to reload and keep coming back from the dead.

And your point is? The two positions you named are those of trust. And I'll be darned if I can trust someone who abuses their partner -domestic or otherwise. Male or female.

The first time it happens -and you are correct, it probably will happen - there should be such a stink raised that the next person won't stand a chance of having the charge altered, plea or not. Unless, of course, the charge is INCREASED in such cases as repeat offenders or the like.

NO violence from temper should be ignored. And I would go so far as to say child abusers - ALL types - should face felony charges as well.

The above photograph shows just how mature the two of them are and how dumb SHE is. If I so much as even raised my hand in anger - even if I caught myself before I swung - my girlfriend would be out of my life so fast she would be a blur. And rightly so.

$arah you selfish bitch. You aren't doing your first born any favors by constantly bailing him out of trouble. He needs to do some time, get help for his drug problem and then you need to kick his ass out. If he faces some actual consequences for his actions, maybe he'll get his act together.

But you don't give a damn about what's best for him. It's always about what's best for you. You would rather support him (even though he is a danger to Trig) and hide him away and blame the president than admit that you are an epic failure as a mother.

And he sits on our Supreme Court!

Justice Thomas Passionately Argues That Convicted Domestic Abusers Need Easier Access To Guns

The law prohibiting domestic abusers from possessing firearms wasn’t the question under discussion — instead, the question was how far that law reached over certain states’ differing domestic assault laws.

Justice Thomas, however, was very concerned in arguments about the broader law that domestic abusers at large can’t have guns — breaking 10 years of silence on the Court to complain at arguments in February.

“Give me another area where a misdemeanor violation suspends a constitutional right,” he asked, later suggesting that the particular domestic abusers in this case shouldn’t lose their ability to carry guns because they’ve never actually “use[d] a weapon against a family member.”

"Anchorage Veterans Court, one of the oldest such programs in the country, tries to get treatment for criminal defendants who are eligible for VA services they may not be using.

It relies on alternative sentencing plea agreements that emphasize behavioral health, substance use or other VA treatment programs.

The system requires criminal defendants plead guilty or no contest to at least one charge against them. They receive conventional court sentences if they don't complete their VA treatment but a lesser sentence if they do."

Dunno the impact of a "no contest" plea, but I would hope it's the same as a guilty plea to a misdemeanor...in which case, Track LOSES HIS GUNS.
