The Republican freakout over Donald Trump is now hitting critical mass.

So the other day Senator Mark Kirk became the first Republican leader to take back his endorsement of Donald Trump.

Since then the calls for Republicans to "Dump Trump" or unendorse him have escalated exponentially.

Lindsay Graham for one wants those who have endorsed Donald Trump to take it all back

Graham wants fellow Republicans who have endorsed Donald Trump to take it all back in the wake of his repeated claims that Judge Gonzalo Curiel's heritage make him unfit to preside over lawsuits against him.

“This is the most un-American thing from a politician since Joe McCarthy,” Graham told The New York Times. “If anybody was looking for an off-ramp, this is probably it,” he added. “There’ll come a time when the love of country will trump hatred of Hillary.”

Conservative radio talk show host Hugh Hewitt was even more pointed:

Conservative talk radio host Hugh Hewitt said on Wednesday that the Republican National Committee should ask Donald Trump to withdraw his candidacy or change the convention rules to prevent his formal nomination.

“The Republican National Committee needs to step in and step up and talk to him about getting out of the race,” Hewitt said on the Hugh Hewitt Show.

The alternative, he said, is a guaranteed victory for presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton — and the loss of Republican control of both houses of Congress.

“She’s gonna be president unless Republicans change their nominee,” Hewitt said. “When the dust clears we will have lost the House, we will have lost the Senate, we will have lost governorships.”

Things actually got so bad that Paul Ryan went into hiding.
Damn!

So what do you think?

Can the Republicans kick Trump to the curb before the convention? Or will there be a contested convention? Or will the Republicans just say "No mas," throw up their hands and simply sit this one out and let Hillary have it for the sake of the country.

And if any of that happens what will Donald Trump do in response?

Flip the Republicans the bird, say fuck it to the whole thing, and go back to his lavish lifetyle?

Run as a third party candidate out of spite?

Or perhaps stubbornly fight for the right to stay the GOP and then lose spectacularly in November?

You know I literally do not know which one of those I want to see more.

    You know what?
    Trump KNOWS the Clintons.
Trump used to LIKE the Clintons.
    Trump is VERY media-savvy.
Trump doesn't give ONE SHIT about Republicans.
    What MIGHT happen is:
Trump - against all odds and to the bitter dismay of the Party - comes out of the convention with the nomination, says crazier and crazier things throughout the general,
gets the jerks and weirdos ALL cranked up and then
    ...QUITS just before the election.

Says "Ha ha, fuck YOU, assholes" and withdraws his name from the ballot
-- one day before the election.
(I checked - there's nothing in the Constitution disallowing such a move)
    History is made.

The most vicious racists and evil assholes in the country are furious with Trump - but everybody else thinks he's a GENIUS - and a hero.

...and Hillary is not only the first female President of the USA -- she's also the first to win a Presidential election uncontested!

The Republicans, chagrined, begin to rebuild their Party by first just beating the shit out of Reince Pribus.

Drumpf did say that he paid the Clintons an exorbitant sum of money to attend his wedding. Funny that they wouldn't show up out of friendship or anything like that, and he had to pay them to get them to come. I bet Drumpfs wife hates him, too.

I like your theory of his quitting the day the before the election very much. Fits with my long-held assessment that he began all this to take revenge for perceived slights over many decades from GOP elites.

I hope the convention does NOT contrive to put in another candidate who will appear moderate (compared to Drumpf) and make is easy for ALL goppers to vote in droves. 4. Whether Trump remains the candidate or not, the GOP will remain essentially unchanged. The party is incapable of change. It will continue to fight against universal healthcare, climate, raising the minimum wage, women, etc. Whatever change it will seem to make will be for the benefit of attracting previously alienated groups. "We're women and minority friendly now because we say we are." The GOP has nothing but contempt for anyone, including republicans, who are not 100% self-sufficient.

Why resistance against universal healthcare? Because rich people don't need it. Why opposed to climate regulations? Because rich people profit from exploiting the environment.
Why against education, women, minorities, and gays? Because people with a voice get uppity and want more.

Paul Ryan talks about the GOP vision. There is no vision. There's just a bunch of general, nice sounding stuff absent content. Restoring America's respect worldwide, restroom protection, banning abortion, God everywhere, and having the greatest war machine ever known don't put bread on the tables average Americans. Economic policy is for the rich; social policy for the workers.

More than ever, Democrats need to mobilize and make sure Clinton wins in November. This biggest mistake will be think this will be a slam dunk and stay home. The bigger the defeat, the more powerful the message.

Since they can't control their Pres. nominee, I think their tactic will be to control the VP nominee. I think it's gonna be Paul Ryan or Rubio. They will make a deal with Trump on the VP.

'You were born in a Taco Bell': Trump's rhetoric fuels school bullies across US

The xenophobic spirit of the presumptive Republican nominee has led to playground spats and ugly exchanges in classrooms across the country

...That has not stopped some children from channeling and adopting the Republican presumptive nominee’s xenophobic rhetoric in playground spats and classroom exchanges.

“They said things like ‘you’ll get deported’, ‘you weren’t born here’ and ‘you were born in a Taco Bell’,” said Iglehart, 49. “They may not know exactly what it means, but they know it’s powerful language.”
