"Dump Trump" leader claims to have enough votes to unbind delegates at RNC convention.

Courtesy of the Daily Wire:

Over the weekend, The Daily Wire had the opportunity to speak with Kendal Unruh, a member of the Colorado Republican delegation to the Republican National Convention. Unruh is also a member of the Rules Committee at the RNC, and a leading advocate for a vote that would unbind the delegates from the candidates to which their state primaries are pledged.

Unruh explained that "28 committee members are required to pass a minority report, which then goes to the convention floor for all delegates to vote on. It then requires a simple majority to pass." She added that she does "have the 28 votes required for the minority report," continuing, "Not everyone who is with us is willing to be public yet, due in part to the threats being made by Trump's campaign and the RNC itself."

Well now this RNC convention is once again looking like the must see show for next week.

I was a little concerned that the Republicans had pulled their shit together and become united behind Trump, but now I see that my concerns were for naught.

It also appears that Trump is having trouble getting the usual Republican donors to loosen their purse strings:

Republican donors, including members of the Republican Jewish Coalition, are voicing concern about giving to presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump's campaign after some of his recent comments, according to The Wall Street Journal.

“I’m waiting for him to come forward as a statesman, and so far he hasn’t done it,” said Walter Stern, a longtime RJC board member and the vice chairman of a private equity firm, who hasn’t decided whether to give money to Trump.

Yeah, keep holding your breath for that one.

There is also concern that there will not be any big named Republicans speaking at the convention, and though Trump has repeatedly promised to release a list of names so far nada.

However once that list of names is revealed I have every confidence that it will include Sarah Palin, and if she has her way Dakota Meyer as well.

Like I said the must see show for next week.

Wouldn't miss it.

I don't think that Trump will be the GOP nominee. He's been a "seat holder" for someone that the GOP does not want the Democrats to have researched s lot. They probably feel the the Democrats were too ready for Mitt Romney in 2012. So who could it be?

    2. Maybe that's why Pence hasn't removed his name from the VP short list. There's still 4 months before the election - plenty of time to dig a little dirt. Personally, I'm pulling for a Trump/Newt ticket - I'd like to see Bill finally extract some revenge against Newt

I don't think so. I don't think he would 'hold a seat' for anybody. Also, having a viable candidate, ready to go, supported by the majority of the GOP AND kept a secret? Impossible. They aren't that cohesive.

Things Get Even Worse For Trump As Newt Gingrich Says He May Turn Down VP

..... Newt Gingrich was Donald Trump’s safety date, and he may turn Trump down because he has a book and a movie coming out. There really isn’t a more lame excuse than, sorry, but see I’ve got this book coming out, so I am going to be really busy until November.....

I don't think little Donnie's ego would allow that without some huuggeee financial compensation.

I think the GOP is going "to choose" the VP, that is why they are all saying no to Donnie.

Later if by some miracle little Donnie wins, they can take him out-poison, plane crash, ISIS.

A federal judge just ruled in Virginia that the State cannot bind a delegate. The delegate can vote for whomever they want on the first ballot. Fun times ahead for the Republicans.

The RNC can decide whether to count the vote of an escapee "bound" candidate. So the ruling doesn't have any impact if the RNC decides to ignore or negate those votes.

      Delete
    2. Caroll Thompson2:54 PM

Agreed 2:38. However, the issue in the ruling was whether the State (in this case Virginia) can bind a delegate. Now they cannot. The Republican Party, like the Democratic Party is a private political organization. No State can get in the way of that and pass laws telling delegates how to vote.

According to this article in the Richmond Times-Dispatch, the judge's ruling means Virginia's 49 votes at the GOP Freak Show should be awarded in proportion to each candidate's showing in the March primary -- 17 votes for Trump.

      http://www.richmond.com/news/virginia/article_d98ac087-7c75-5d60-9eb0-3b2b17dcbc16.html

On a related matter, we Democrats need to heed the advice "Be careful what you pray for, you may get it."

I VERY MUCH WANT Trump to be the GOP candidate. He will go down in flames. If he is dumped for, say, Kasich or some other Republican with good sense -- and there are some out there -- Hillary's negatives easily could lose this election for us.

As he's aged his eyes have gotten so small and he's lost all color. Long ago, he should have started wearing a little mascara on his puffy, pink, slitty, white-eyelashed eyes so they didn't look so scary, but it's too late now.

Actually, Democrats Still Love Each Other XOXO

You’ve read the stories. The HillaryBots just hate the BernieBros, and the feeling is so, so mutual.

Yeah, whatevz. Take a look at this video from the official Democratic Party platform meeting in Orlando, Florida. They’re “debating” antitrust language, establishing the party’s official stance on heavy concentrations of corporate power. Behold the great conflict of our times, the rending of a once-great political institution as it … unanimously agrees about something.

Watch different factions of the Democratic Party hug each other over a shared commitment to curbing corporate power in the video below:

...“Let me just say one quick word, if I may, to the Bernie Sanders supporters here,” Pryor said. “Let me just say I’m a lifelong Democrat, and I am glad to have you here. We’re glad to have you in the party. You’ve made a big difference in 2016. Thank you for being here today, thank you for participating and thank you for the unity.”

Man. These two teams just don’t like each other.

One GOP delegate has a new plan to stop Trump at the convention

Kendal Unruh, a delegate from Colorado and a member of the convention’s powerful Rules Committee, is pressing the party to allow delegates to “vote their conscience” rather than adhere to the rules that require most of them to vote for a specific candidate based on the results of their state’s primary.

She concedes that she may not have the majority support on the committee needed to make that change in the package of rules that the committee submits to the delegates as a whole. However, she told the conservative website The Daily Signalthat she believes she has enough support on the panel to issue a “minority report” from the Rules Committee including that “conscience clause.”

Because of the way the rules guiding the convention work, Unruh only needs 25 percent of the Rules Committee’s 112 members to force a vote on the minority report’s proposal, and she claims to have the 28 members necessary -- even if they aren’t willing to identify themselves at the moment.

"Not everyone who is with us is willing to be public yet,” she told The Daily Signal. She said delegates fear retaliation, but did not cite specific examples.
