Republicans add using Bibles as textbooks in our public schools to their party platform.

Courtesy of The Frisky:

As if this year’s Republican convention couldn’t get any worse, it has somehow managed to top itself already, which, frankly, is saying a lot when you consider the fact that they’re literally nominating Donald-fucking-Trump. The GOP platform committee passed an amendment mandating that the Bible be allowed to be taught in schools as a historical document, according to NBC and Reuters reporters in Cleveland Monday. NBC’s Ginger Gibson tweeted, “Teaching the Bible in public schools remains in Republican platform.”

This addition to the party platform ignores the whole “freedom of religion” and “separation of church and state” laws conservatives bring up when it comes to having the freedom to discriminate against gay people, and then conveniently forget when it comes to letting gay people marry or women choose to not be mothers. Additionally, it could burden sensible teachers in public, secular schools who would paradoxically have to teach our Constitutional rights regarding religion, but simultaneously teach Judeo-Christian-centric curriculum to impressionable youth who have the right to come to their own intellectual conclusions about religion.

Personally I don't need another reason to vote against every Republican running for office this year, but if you are even a remotely intelligent person and nee one.....well this should be more than enough.

There are some xtians who will object to this, believe it or not. Here's what I mean.....
I was forcibly raised in the church of christ(proud atheist today) and back in the 70's at least, they were FOR the separation of church and state. It cut into their control to have anyone but them telling you how to interpret their buybull, which was the KJV, no exceptions and no modern revisions allowed. These COC'ers simply MUST be the ones to have total control over their kids with regards to religion. And a HELL of a lot of child abuse of every form goes on with these psychos/sheep.
I often say if the xtians want to keep their kids 'in the fold', why not just stop beating and raping them?

You may be right! See the ring on the girl's left hand? She's a Duggar child bride! No readin or writin skills needed to be a breeder. Her husband, father or preacher will tell her what her opinions are.

Isn't Sarah on record as saying 'we' need to govern the country by the Bible? I mean the Buybull?

Let's explore what the bible commands about other things:

Rape costs a fine of 50 pieces of silver
    Deut 22, : 28-29

Pretending to be a virgin on your wedding day is worthy of being stoned to death.
    Deut 22:21

Women captured in battle are to be murdered, but you can save the virgins for yourself to rape, and hand them out as concubines.
    Num. 31:17–18

    Ephesians 5:22-23
Wives must submit to husbands as though they are god.

Women are not much more than chattel in the patriarchal view of Paul of Tarsus who wrote 1/2 of the new Testament

    Ephesians 6:5
Slaves must submit to their masters in complete submission, implying that slavery is condoned by god, and baby Jesus

These Christian Taliban fanatics have to be opposed at every turn.

If you can't grasp the implication of such an insane idea, simply replace "Bible" with "Koran" or "Bhagavad Gita". If you STILL don't recognize the problem then there are serious gaps in your education.

And why do you think Republicans want to abolish the Federal Department of a Education? So this kind of horse shit can be adopted by local school boards.

Here in red NC the GOP are busy dismantling the public school system so it can be replaced with a no-oversight, no teacher's certification needed styled charter school system. Same with the private schools here, which are ALL xtian.
Oh, and most won't even be serving the kids a meal from what I"ve read about this travesty to our public education system. How xtian is that?

On many levels, that is the whole (or most) charter schools movement (selected enrollment). State paid charter (sometimes religiously or ideologically based) schools to replace public schools (secular). There are finer points to be made on the charter side, but essentially, charters can be selective, public schools take the leftovers.

Charters are not pushed in reasonably well-off school districts because children are not considered 'left-over' with the only choice left is of traditional public schools.

So sucking up public school dollars to preach to the kid isn;t enough for the GOP? Now they think teaching their Bible is allowed too? Sorry, chumps, then there will have to be classes in the Koran, the Torah and every other God group under the sun. Think hard on this GOP. You want to ban Muslims, against the Constitution, and you want to indoctrinate kids not your own into YOUR own version of Sharia? Americans are no that terrified. Or stupid.

A caller on the Stephanie Miller show opined that the GOP platform is based on Sharia Law.

    Take that, Newty.

WAR! Trump said he agreed that this was now a “world war scenario” and, as president, he would seek a formal declaration of world war from Congress.

dRumpf quote via Batshit Bonkers Bachmann>"

“He even said, ‘I don’t understand, when I was growing up, everybody said Merry Christmas. Even MY JEWS would say Merry Christmas,’” she explained. Then "Clinton would bring “certain destruction” and “catastrophic decline” and a “godless United States that will walk into certain catastrophe.”

  13. As always, the GOP has nothing useful to offer. Never a plan, never a fix, never anything remotely hopeful. Just the same old menu of social issues.

  14. From the group who says they love the constitution so much, a platform plank that is completely unconstitutional.

This alone should guarantee no Jewish person voting for a Republican, and won't help Trump win Florida.

Would they allow the use of the koran, the torah, the book of mormon, etc..?
Nope, I guess just their book is worthy of study.
Also, too, for some reason the culters seem to love the KJV and none other.

The rethugs have been trying to reverse the calendar for a long time. 1st the Tundra Turd, back to the 1950's. Then dRUMPf's nomination takes us back nearly 100 years. Now they want to take us all back to the stone age?

I want the words/tenets/dogma of the flying spaghetti monster included in the religious studies they propose.

E ploribus unum.... include all religions or none. My tax dollars aren't paying for bibles. While we're on the topic Tax Religions and take away the "tax exempt" loopholes. They're called public schools for a reason. Want your kid to learn the kama sutra, oh wait, bad example.
