Stephen Colbert takes over the GOP convention stage.

Pretty sure that "security guard" is one of his people.

Looks like it is going to be a very entertaining week inside the convention center, and a possible blood bath outside on the streets:

Crowds of protesters were expected to pack the streets of downtown Cleveland on Sunday just as Republicans were arriving for Monday’s kickoff of the Republican National Convention.

The groups expected to descend on the city were focused on a range of agendas. A coalition of activists planned to hold a “Shut Down Trump and the R.N.C.” march to oppose the nomination of Donald J. Trump. The group wants to march through downtown to City Hall and the area outside the Quicken Loans Arena, where delegates will meet to vote on the party’s nominee. But pro-Trump rallies are also planned.

And even the Ohio Governor has very little he can do to protect his citizens from armed protesters:

Ohio Gov. John Kasich (KAY’-sihk) says he doesn’t have authority to suspend the state’s law allowing people to openly carry guns.

Kasich responded Sunday to a request by the Cleveland police union president for the suspension of the law during the Republican National Convention, which begins Monday.

The request by union president Steve Loomis followed Sunday morning’s fatal shooting of three police officers in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Personally you could not pay me enough to go to Cleveland right now.

I certainly hope that Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart have security, because I don't think it is an exaggeration to say that all lives are in danger in that environment.

My mom used to work in Cleveland, and her former law office is CLOSED for the week, as are a number of businesses and restaurants. Too bad the GOP has let the NRA turn America into the wild west, huh? I wonder when the death toll will begin to bother them? Never?

I was happy to see that there is one person in Cleveland this week who has a sense of humor, and balls.
I expect it will be all downhill from here in both departments.

On a sadder note, and going along with predictions that bad things are going to happen in Cleveland and beyond, we have this death threat against Hillary Clinton -

Regarding HRC>In the tweet, Folk said the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee "should be tried for treason, murder, and crimes against the US Constitution... then hung on the Mall in Washington, DC."
Folk, who said he's received death threats over the comments, is seeking a third term in the House. The Martinsburg resident ran unopposed in the May Republican primary and will face Democrat and Berkeley County Sheriff Kenny Lemaster in November.

Folk is a United Airlines pilot and the Airlines made a statement today saying Folk has been removed from his schedule pending an investigation.

I sure as hell would not want him piloting me or any of my family anywhere just in case one of us got crosswise with anything on one of his flights.

Let's hope the Democrat,Lemaster, he is running against in November wins the election in Martinsburg, W VA.

United Airlines made a smart move 'supposedly' investigating the guy! I'm sure they knew they'd experience a huge drop in business. I made a note never to fly them again.

People need to keep track of the investigation and its outcome. The airline could be playing games....who knows! The guy really needs his butt kicked out of the airline business forever just based on what he has done!

Reminds me of when some cops are investigated for killing an unarmed black (video shows otherwise) - and, getting away with it - no jail time, etc.

She certainly campaigned enough for VP which in turn would bring her to the convention. Then suddenly, she was not around, and if you look at the timing, I don't think it was because of Track.

It was wild. And to me Pence actually looked like the presidential candidate and Trump looked like a maniac sitting there always hunched forward and taking over and saying whatever he wanted to and interrupting Stahl and several times not answering her question, like when she kept trying to get him to take responsibility for his statement that he will "declare war" on Isis.

For all that can be said about Pence kissing ass, he saved Trump on a number of things and looked like the guy running for pres. And when he was smiling at Trump, I didn't get the impression he was waiting for permission--to me, it looked like he was just dealing with the freak and biding his time until he could speak and make the duo look more presidential.

I loved how the camera showed just how ugly Trump's face is and how the sound caught all his stuffy breathing. It was wild looking at Pence's truly tanned face and comparing it to Trump's sunburny orange face. I couldn't stop comparing the eye areas, especially Trump's white skin just above his eyebrows and Pence's tanned skin there, as well as Pence's tanned neck versus Trump's white neck meat that hung over his collar. What really grosses me out is how Trump's deep creases between his eyes remain white. When he's tanning in the booth or before his lotion sets up, he must squint under the lamps or squint and sweat off the lotion so he gets no color there.

The Republican Party Talks A Big Game, But Their Actions Have Made The Police Less Safe

....But right-wing gun laws in Ohio are adding unnecessary fuel to the already-raging fire of security threats.

Since the Buckeye State allows its citizens to openly carry firearms, people in the RNC event zone can roam the streets with guns strapped to their wastes or across their backs.

Tennis balls and sleeping bags are banned, though, so you’re out of luck if you planned on breaking into an impromptu tennis match or catching a nap outside of Progressive Field.

      Your AR-15? Sure, that’s okay.....

Remember, Trump is the one that doesn't like the media coverage as well as comedians adding their humor and two-cents worth!

He is the one they'll need the security for...Trump probably has his mafia buddies ready to roll in all kinds of ways at the Convention.

Who in the Hell would even want to attend a Trump 'coronation' of his own making? JHC! Some Americans are friggin' nuts! (Except for the various comedians that will be covering the Convention - they are going to be a hoot to watch on late-night TV!)

People believe that most elected officials or politicians are just plain whacko, and it's hard to disagree. We took statements made by one-time vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, a well-known activist, and also gathered statements made by the crazy lady who just got out of the Juno Alaska mental hospital. See if you can determine who said what from these actual quotes & statements.

The Democrats need to be proactive combating all the "garbage" that will be spewed the GOP convention.

My suggestion is every time they bring up Benghazi, the dems send out the list of all the embassies, ships etc that were attacked under Ronnie and the two Bushes. Keep repeating

Every time Donnie says crooked Hillary and wall st. the Democrats send out a message with how Donnie scammed his vendors, lost money for his investors etc. Keep Repeating.

I think the GOP wants mayhem in the streets of Cleveland during the convention. This will further Trump's credibility for being "tough" and it will imply that President Obama and Hillary Clinton are personally responsible for anything bad that happens. This is not an accident.
