Former FEMA director Michael "Heck of a job" Brown criticizes President Obama for not showing up for a photo-op during Louisiana flooding.

"I have no fucking idea what I'm doing?"
Courtesy of Mediaite:

The ex-director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is criticizing President Obama for not making a better effort to head down to Louisiana and address the state’s devastating floods.

“He could have gone to Lilly Armstrong Airport in New Orleans and made a statement there, or at the very least, what he should have done,” Brown said according to Washington Examiner. “The president needs to make sure that the entire Cabinet, that all of the departments and agencies of the federal government, know that if the FEMA director asks for anything, by damn, give it to him…”

This has got to be a joke right?

I mean this guy cannot seriously come out of the woodwork to criticize this President over his response to this disaster? Can he?

As I mentioned in my previous post on Friday President Obama immediately signed the Louisiana Disaster Declaration which provided REAL support for those victimized by the flooding, and he is planning to visit on Tuesday.

As has also been reported the Governor of Louisiana asked the President to wait:

“It is a major ordeal, they free up the interstate for him,” Gov. John Bel Edwards (D) told MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow on Thursday. “We have to take hundreds of local first responders, police officers, sheriffs, deputies and state troopers to provide security for that type of visit.”

“I would just as soon have those people engaged in the response rather than trying to secure the president,” Bel Edwards continued. “So I’d ask him to wait, if he would, another couple weeks.”

As he said the Governor would really prefer that the President wait a few weeks longer, but unfortunately there is now so much political pressure being applied that if Obama does not visit soon the Republicans will find some way to make this Hillary's fault and use it against her in campaign ads.

By the way for those of you who may have forgotten, or are too young to remember, THIS is why Michael Brown's criticisms are laughable.

If that had been me I would NEVER have shown my face in public again.

It doesn't matter what horrible things white male Republicans do, or how incompetent they are, they know absolutely no shame and Republicans will still vote for them.

Is this a pitiable attempt to rewrite Katrina NOLA history so that it was all 'Obama's fault' for the near future?

Bush was such a bad president and now you see him looking old with sleeves all rolled up like he's gonna do something good. Yech. Well, it's like his and Cheney's era didn't happen. They are like the Holocaust deniers. It never happened folks. We didn't steal the election. We didn't start a war. We didn't take forever to help the Katrina flood victims. My mother never made derogatory remarks about the poor people who were all having severe truama during that time. And the list go on. Atrocity after atrocity. Now they come back trying to vindicate themselves. The nerve. SO what that means is that being a Republican means you can say and do any horrible thing and act like it never happened. Hmmmmm. Yet, you harass Hillary over and over, and new let it be forgotten that her husband once got a blowjob from an intern. It's hypocrisy of the worst kind. Unfathomable why Republicans are so evil.

    1. Obama makes them do it. Anything, and I mean ANY THING that will deny a black man's presidential
legitimacy is on the table. If Hillary wins, it will be her fault: a woman president?!

Oh please, Mr. President, take Hillary & Tim Kaine with you, and take a planeload of emergency supplies - and make sure the 3 of you unload the whole frickin' plane. Match that, Drumpy!

They act like the internet does not exist. Don't look back at what really happened, believe the bullshit I'm saying now. And, of course, Faux news helps keep the stupid in line.

I'm so proud of our president. He is acting as he should - like an adult. It would be nice of more grown ups could do the same.

    1. Ain't gonna happen -- the Repubs know their backs are up against the wall. A cornered animal is the most dangerous. 78 days: lots of time to try to destroy democracy (whatever is left in America).

Yeah, I know. What I want, what I need, and what I get have never been in alignment.

As for who is more cornered - the Repubs (who painted themselves into where they are today) versus the rest of society (pushed there by the Repubs) I'm going to back the rest of us.

If wishes were horses beggars would ride. That said I wish those working against 'for the good of all and may it harm none' would implode. Kind of like the bad guy in Indiana Jones when he chose the wrong cup. Very tidy although the lack of a body would make closing an estate problematic. :)

Hurricane Katrina hit Louisiana on August 29th. Bush's visit was on September 15th. He likely received the same guidance as Obama. So stuff it Brownie.

I remember it well, and mama Babs pointing out the window gushing how all those people will be so much better off when Shrub gets done. Then Brownie sends tons of FEMA housing that can't reach the people who need them, FEMA trailers later proven unfit for human habitation.

Those unfit for human habitation are still sitting along MS highway now rotting away! 2016

Cronies were given federal contracts with only the promise of experience and made beaucoup money off of American taxpayers that made them rich which is what 'privatizing' is all about. No consequences that I'm aware of resulted to those 'FEMA contractors'

Brown and Bush are total cluster f***s. Michael Brown has no shame, no credibility and should find a fire ant mound to crawl into. And by the way, stupid, it's Louis Armstrong Airport, not Lilly Armstrong. Louis was the most famous jazz player in the world.

I would love to be a fly on the wall where President Obama and First Lady Michelle are vacationing.

Jesus H. Christ! Can't Republicans think of something new? Their bullshit is old & they look like total idiots continually going after President Obama.

Just look at President Obama's ratings - they are higher than they've ever been which is REALLY pissing off the Republicans.

The black guy keeps getting you guys. Suck it up red party & start doing your jobs. Most of you have done nothing in eight years except obstruct. Hopefully, all of you lose your seats in Congress and State Legislatures across the country if you are up for reelection. You don't represent Americans AT ALL!

I'll say this for President Obama and Mrs. Obama - Fuck you, Republicans!

7:24 Yes, and he will too. He is a true gentleman, not a fake like the repugs. The Obamas have held their heads high for almost 8 =years of hatred flung at them by repubs. It is a disgrace the way they have been treated by people like McConnell, tRump, McCain and many, many more. incompetant ignorant people such as those should not be in pblic life. They spent most of the last 8 years doing nothing of substance. They back tRump because he puts into words how they really feel.

O/T or not - I hope many are taking the opportunity to watch Joy Reid on Saturday and Sunday. I record it but make sure I view it. Joy takes them on and calls BS wherever it is appropriate. Her facial expressions are priceless and she gets both sides on the show. Those right wingers without a clue about courtesy do their damndest to hijack her subject but she hangs in their. True picture of the right wing assholes trying to marginalize a black woman. She is having none of it!!! Go Joy!

President Kaine after President Hillary. President Michelle after President Kaine.

Would be nice to have at least three Democratic presidents in a row to truly clean up the mess, right the ship and get it pointed in the right direction. After that much Democratic rule, the Republicans would be hard pressed to come back. Especially when things keep getting better and better.

I find appalling that Americans have such short memories for historical facts. Did no one pay attention as the horror that was Hurricane Katrina played out? Bush played politics and ignored the requests of the Democratic governor of Louisiana and the Democratic mayor of New Orleans begged for a federal emergency declaration. It was over a week afterwards that water arrived in New Orleans. It was over two weeks before Bush touched down to visit the city and then he spent more time with Gov. Barber in Mississippi, a fellow Republican. The Republicans in Congress didn't want any money to go to Louisiana. And then FEMA Director Brown was a disaster all in one package. His department had been all but gutted and he did not have a clue what to do in an emergency.

The past week or so has shown how an emergency of such proportions needs to be handled. FEMA and other agencies were there on the ground from the beginning. The President was informed on a daily basis about what was happening. He was asked not to visit until the recovery phase was undertaken. What more could he have done?

The GOP always depends on the ignorance of its FOX-viewing public and the media runs with it. However, it really boggles the mind to think that they dredged up "Heckuva Job" Brown to criticize President Obama; he's not worthy of polishing President Obama's shoes.
