Four year old girl expresses the emotions that I think a lot of us are feeling.

Courtesy of the Daily Mail:

The majority of Americans learn from an early age that their presidents are constitutionally limited to serve two terms.

But the news came as a shock to one four-year-old girl who burst into tears when she discovered President Obama would soon be leaving office.

Abella Tomlin, from Beaverton, Oregon, was told the news by her mother, who had been listening to speeches at the Democratic National Convention in the car.

Andrea explained: 'Abella has been an Obama fan since day one. She has grown up with him as a hero in our household, and as such has always talked about how much she loves him.

'I was just listening to the DNC speeches, and she asked me what they were talking about.

'So I explained to her that the country is getting ready to elect a new president.

'She immediately had tears running down her face and explained to me that Barack Obama was our president and how could we get a new one when we already had one.'

Somehow I get the feeling that a whole bunch of people in this country will be sharing a similar reaction once President Obama leaves office.

Like this little girl I also think that Hillary will do a good job, but let's face it a President like Obama is a once in a lifetime gift.

I actually think that a lot of the people who said nasty things about him are going to miss having him in charge of the country as well. But of course few of them will ever admit it.

Boy will I miss President Obama and the First Family.

They are one of a kind and can never be replaced.

    Thank God for YouTube.

Oh my dog, I seriously teared up watching this, because that face she makes at the end, where sorrow overwhelms her power of speech? That's EXACTLY how I feel, sugarplum.

    1. If you want to lower your blood pressure and feel calm, safe and loved, just Google "Obama with babies" and enjoy.

I got smoke or dust or something in my eyes watching her heart abjectly break.

That's cute enough to make my heart hurt, but honestly.....I protected my kids from the subject of politics, religion (and taxes, ha) when they were that age. They should be able to enjoy the innocence of childhood for at least a few more years.

I remember watching the Watergate stuff on TV and knowing who Nixon was but I really don't think I understood what or who POTUS was until I was in my late teens nearing voting age, nor did I care. Don't know if parents protected me or not but certainly wasn't on my radar as a kid.

Poor little girl, lost innocence at such a young age!

    2. My daughter saw Obama's picture on his book we had, she kissed his face often. That is how she found out about him.

I agree. I think this whole vid is ridiculous, from the getting a toddler involved in politics to the mom putting words in the kids mouth and encouraging her sadness. It's almost as bad as religious indoctrination.

So when IS the right time to introduce a presidential figure to your children? When they turn eighteen and you say adios, good luck? Or perhaps you encourage them to observe the political process all their lives and hope they foster a sense of personal responsibility and interest in government? Yeah...I'd rather have a sad toddler than an unformed young adult completely ill-equipped for life. Lighten up, 11:10, 6:31, and 5:12.

There's another video of a little girl going hysterical with grief over Obama leaving office. When told that we would be getting a new president, she wailed, "I don't want another president!"

Kinda agree although I am looking forward to the first female president of the US.

I do hope he has seen this. It might make some of those gray hairs he got while being president seem worthwhile.

Isn't it amazing how kids love our President. I know I'll be crying my heart out when he and his family leave. I'll be happy to have Hillary as our POTUS but Obama has a special aura about him.

Oh my God dude, Sarah is not scary. Don't tell lies (especially lies that involve innocent parties and kids paternity. Those will put you on a shit list and you will deserve to be there.) Don't lie about her childhood as many have done. Don't lie about her extended family members who aren't public people, but are just good people and parents who work hard. Dont exaggerate.

These are pretty common sense things.

You don't see people Palin-ing Hillary or Obama? or biden, who has shown on tv he doesn't know elementary history.

    Why?

You will never know anything REAL about a person's life. That is the most common sense statement of all. You're not changing futures. Are you jealous Sarah or her kid's had a great childhood where they all enjoyed normal activities and fun? Are you jealous Todd survived a hard early life, as Sarah said and their marriage survived a tough career many do not? even in 07 when sarah received heat from all sides in her job, she and Todd exchanged "i miss yous" in email. How could that be fake when emails aren't exactly written as if the world will see them?

No one has mentioned Sarah Palin here. This post is about President Obama and what he means to so many people.

  19. I'm going to miss him too, greatly. I don't like this tho, rather than recording she should be reassuring her daughter that despite change it'll be OK. Children are unsettled by change & need support & protection, not filming. If it was Bristol filming a 4 yr old Tripp about missing Prez Bush (or goddess forbid, Trump) would it be quite so cute to you? Or maybe I'm an old fuddy duddy at 37 and I don't understand millenials' need to document so much of their lives to strangers. My 14 yr old instagrams pix of her vegan meals & untold amts of cat photos, but I can't see her doing this to her child. On another topic, I've been researching running to Canada. They're going to need to build a wall to keep us out if He-who-shall-not-be-named wins
    ;-D
