President Obama has just inserted himself, and his legacy, into the presidential race.

Courtesy of Politico:

It was part mockery, part shock-to-the-system wake-up call.

Donald Trump is a nasty, hateful charlatan selling a false message to African-Americans and the rest of the country that puts everything he’s done in office and stood for at risk, President Barack Obama said Saturday night, in a rip-roaring speech to the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation dinner in Washington.

Declaring he would consider it “a personal insult, an insult to my legacy” if black turnout falters for Hillary Clinton, Obama did what he got reamed for doing almost exactly two years ago, in the heat of midterm elections where disdain for him was the defining force: Yes, he said, he is pretty much on the ballot in November.

“My name may not be on the ballot, but our progress is on the ballot,” Obama said, his voice rising to a shout as he went well beyond what sources familiar with the speech say was a tamer version of the riff in the prepared remarks. “Tolerance is on the ballot. Democracy is on the ballot. Justice is on the ballot. Good schools are on the ballot. Ending mass incarceration, that’s on the ballot right now.”

"Hope is on the ballot,” he said, laying out the choice. “And fear is on the ballot too.”

Damn! The President is simply not taking prisoners is he?

And good for him.

This election is too important for folks to allow their dislike of Hillary Clinton or their distrust of the status quo keep them from voting in November.

This is not an election where both sides have competent candidates who can both do the job, even if we don't agree with their ideologies.

This is fucking Donald Trump.

Some idiot on an earlier thread suggested that we weathered George W. Bush's administration intact and so it was not that big of a deal if we elected Trump this time.

That made my head hurt so much I had to lie down for a minute.

How could they not know that the Bush administration was responsible for thousands of American deaths, both on 9-11 by ignoring intelligence briefings and in the unnecessary wars that followed?

The Bush administration is responsible for the domestic spy program that is still in place today.

They tanked the economy so badly that our current President is still struggling to repair it eight years later.

The terrorism that we live in fear of today is the direct result of the war in Iraq, and our lack of a plan to deal with country after we defeated its dictator.

No the presidency of George W. Bush damn near destroyed this country, and Donald J. Trump is infinitely worse by any measure you can imagine.

So no I do not believe this country can "weather" a Donald Trump presidency intact.

Goodie, now Sarah will be able to buy more ill-fitting shoes online. And before all the money is gone she had better sling some money to Bristol so she doesn't have to live in that tiny pokey little house any more.

Hope the sales price is disclosed and put out to the public. Can't help but wonder if she got the price she was asking for prior to taking it off the market. I have a suspicion NOT! Cannot imagine moving into a house once occupied by any of the Palins!

The recording information (Warranty Deed or QCD) will moe than likely not state the sales price.

Perhaps someone will/could leak it within a title company (or attorney's office - either or - closing agency) for a sum of money! Probably unlikely right now, but the info could come out at some point in the future.

George Takei had a great tweet in response to Trump who said The President should be doing his job instead of campaigning for Secretary Clinton. I'm paraphrasing but is was something like "The president took an oath to protect the country from threats foreign and domestic, of which Trump is the latter"

“Just before I got off the plane, a bomb went off in New York and nobody knows exactly what’s going on, but we are living in a time when we’ve got to get very tough, folks. We’ve got to get very, very tough.”

“It’s a terrible thing that’s going on in our world and in our country and we are going to get tough and smart and vigilant,” he added. “We’re gonna end it. We’re gonna end it.”

Nearly 24 hours after the explosion in Manhattan, the NYPD and the NYFD still don't know who was responsible and what their motive might have been. Long before they could even determine the cause of the explosion, Trump was telling the people attending his rally that it WAS a bomb and implying that terrorists were responsible. Of course, everyone in that room knew that he was referring to Islamic terrorists even though he might not have said the specific word.

This is the man that almost half of the country wants to put in the White House with his hand on the nuclear button.

Putting aside all of the other destruction he would no doubt cause to our country, the ability to incite nuclear war is by far the most horrific and terrifying possibility should he win the election in November.

While I've always admired the calm, cool demeanor President Obama has been able to maintain despite the hate and obstruction and constant crises that he has been subjected to, I must admit that I am really enjoying this no-holds-barred version.

And I suspect that he is also enjoying his new freedom to say what he believes without worrying about the next election.

With his approval numbers increasing on every new poll, he is a tremendous asset to Hillary's campaign, as is our wonderful First Lady.

I think he and First Lady Michelle are thoroughly enjoying nearing the end of his second term.

I, too, love seeing him be so direct with his commentary and not afraid to state what he feels. He doesn't have to be reelected as POTUS and that in itself is giving him 'freedom of speech'!

Can hardly wait to see what he does after his presidency and a nice vacation and long, deserved rest in beautiful Hawaii.

He'll go down in history as one of our best presidents, the first black president, the one that always maintained his cool under horrible fire, one of the most intelligent and a president that is loved and respected around the world - much to the horror of the Republican party!

Vote for Hillary Clinton and keep our country safe and respected in the world!

    O/T UN GENERAL ASSEMBLY/TRUMP

    Politico
Trump has diplomats abandoning vows of silence

The Republican presidential candidate's international insults are making it tough for envoys to stay quiet as diplomatic custom requires...

As thousands of diplomats gather for the U.N. General Assembly here this week, many are struggling to hold their tongues about the brash billionaire running for the White House, a man who has managed to tick off much of the planet.

“If you represent one of these countries that has been insulted or attacked, you tend to react,” said one Latin American diplomat attending the General Assembly. Speaking of his own background, he told POLITICO, “We are very passionate, and our blood is pretty hot....

But in 2016, the Mexican president has compared Trump’s rhetoric to that of Adolf Hitler; the German foreign minister has warned that the Republican’s fear-driven brand of politics would be “dangerous” for the whole world; and the French president has said the real estate mogul’s “excesses” provoke a “retching feeling.”...

So when a U.S. presidential candidate slams a foreign country as Trump has so often (with Mexico, Japan, China, members of NATO, and on and on) representatives of those countries feel unusual domestic pressure to respond.

When Trump suggested he might not lend U.S. assistance to the Baltic states if they are attacked unless those small countries have paid their fair share to NATO, leaders of those countries took exception....

"There's a longstanding custom among the world's diplomats: You don't trash-talk candidates running for office in a foreign country.

Donald Trump is close to destroying that tradition."

Never before has a US presidential candidate inspired so much fear and loathing from people around the world. I join those people in wondering how the hell we got to this place.

It must be truly awful being Donald Trump and knowing that people despise you throughout our country and the world.

I would venture to say he is as disliked/hated as was/is Adolph Hitler!

And, to think he is only in the campaign mode! Honest to god, he'd be a horrendous president - taking our country down w/him.

Vote Hillary Clinton!! She will be a fluid flow in the transfer of our government from President Obama to her. She will be just fine as POTUS in spite of what the media/press and cable news constantly spews (nothing but negative when it comes to her!).

My mother was mentally ill, although she never admitted it or sought treatment for it. She created this alternate view of reality and was extremely skilled at manipulating people to fit that view. She not only convinced others that everything she said was true, but she completely convinced herself as well.

I think Trump truly believes that he is admired and beloved throughout the world. He surrounds himself with sycophants whose every word reinforces the delusional reality he has created.

As just one example, he has been bragging to anyone who would listen that Putin said he was 'brilliant' when the actual translation of Putin's words were closer to flamboyant than brilliant.

But, I could see him putting up a huge wall. Mexico would not pay for it - so, he'd have to go after the American taxpayers to do so!

And, I seriously doubt he will be elected our next POTUS. The majority of us would never mark our ballots for him!

    MONEY MONEY MONEY

When Trump does anything it is for a reason. It's business, it's money

Holds his press conferences at different properties owned by him. Why? He charges the Republican Party to use the facility which lines his pockets.

Where is Trump's campaign office? In Trump Towers where he overcharges the Republican Party.

Where did Trump hold his Washington DC conference at his new hotel where his goal was to take the news on a tour. Plus he can charge them money

Trump wants to buy property build Trump Tower and hotels in Russia but the family has hit a wall, no success. Then Trump buys the beauty pageants, then takes the 2013 Miss Universe Beauty Pageant to Russia in hopes of meeting Putin and establishing relationships to build a Trump Tower in Russia.

Trump said: “Do you think Putin will be going to The Miss Universe Pageant,” he tweeted later that day. “[I]f so, will he become my new best friend?”

SO DO YOU THINK PRESIDENT TRUMP'S MIND IS MAKING AMERICA GREAT OR LINING HIS POCKETS?

RNC Chairman: Party could penalize former GOP candidates who don’t endorse Donald Trump

Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus said Sunday that it’s high time for Donald Trump’s former primary challengers to come on board and support his campaign—and suggested there could be trouble for them in 2020 or 2024 if they don’t.

Now he needs to work on the below 30 crowd. Hillary doesn't have the support that he had in this group. I'm not sure Michelle, Warren and Sanders together would have the clout with them that Obama would. He needs to tell them point blank they need to vote and it needs to be for Hillary. That a vote for Hillary will be a vote to continue his legacy. Just say it.

Obama needs to do a lot more campaigning as the election approaches. We know about Diebold and the other frauds and manipulations the right uses. Hillary is going to need to win by over 10% to avoid them flipping the votes, "losing" ballots, closing polling places, intimidating voters, and all the other shit they normally pull.

Personally, I am very disappointed so many Republicans flat out would rather see Trump in office than what is best for the American people. They truly think they can control him. They know and understand all of the reasons Trump isn't fit for the office and yet, they'll still allow and even work to get him elected.

What is *wrong* with these people?

I live in the very RED state of South Dakota.
Most of the people I know and talk to tell me that they "don't like Hillary Clinton" and when I ask them why, they typical answer is, "I don't know, I just don't like her."

For the past 30 or so years the Republican Party has kept Hillary Clinton's name in the news by investigating her for this and investigating her for that.

The Republican Party has known exactly what they were doing: they knew damn well that Hillary was a force to be reckoned with and they also knew damned well that they couldn't beat her 'fair and square' on issues and knowledge and experience so they spent 30 years and around 100 million dollars to keep her name in the news.

And the sad thing is: it works...

"I don't like Hillary Clinton, I just don't trust her..."

Propaganda works, folks. That's why the bad-guys use it.
