The Vaguely Bearded one returns to lose spectacularly against Lisa Murkowski again.

Courtesy of Alaska Dispatch:

Two-time U.S. Senate candidate Joe Miller will make another run at the office this year, he said Tuesday, trying again to unseat U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski, this time as a Libertarian.

Miller will take the place of Cean Stevens as the Libertarian candidate on the Nov. 8 general election ballot after Stevens withdrew.

The Alaska Libertarian Party appointed Miller to run on its ballot line after Stevens told its half-dozen executive board members last week she was withdrawing from the race, said Terrence Shanigan, the party's chair.

Miller switched his party registration to Libertarian and the party's executive board voted unanimously last week to appoint him to take Stevens' place, Shanigan said.

Miller couldn't be reached for comment Tuesday afternoon. But in a talk radio appearance, he told Anchorage Assembly member Amy Demboski, a conservative Republican and host on KVNT: "I felt that the voters of Alaska needed a choice."

"There can't be a greater contrast between Lisa Murkowski and myself on the issues," Miller said, describing himself as a "federal Libertarian."

Yes and the contrast is that one of you is actually a viable candidate.

Miller has been out of the spotlight for a couple of years now.

The last big story that concerned him was his orchestration of the overthrow of the Alaska GOP.

And then after that there was his second attempt to win the Senate in 2014. But he failed miserably.

Miller is like that old ass injury that just keeps flaring up no matter how many happy pills you take or how long you sit on that inflatable doughnut.

Ultimately it goes away and you forget all about until the next time you sit down to take a crap, and there it is again.

I am really only mentioning this Miller campaign so that we can all laugh about it when it disintegrates as it smashes head on into Lisa Murkowski's unbeatable behemoth of a campaign.

It is funny that the commenters here who have no positive words cast stones. Sphash is distasteful at best.

    3. No positive words? What could be more positive than, "[T]hey will never go away"? That's outright definitive!

Sure would be nice to see the AK Democratic Party take advantage of this situation. I am not holding my breath, party leaders seem to be backing an independent rather than boost their own Democratic candidate for Senate.

The Alaska Democratic Machine doesn't like Ray Metcalfe since he was a Bernie supporter, so most Dems say they will support the Independent Margaret Stock, which means the Democratic voting power will be split two ways leaving us with a Murkowski/Miller battle with the Dem and Independent neutering themselves.

I predict that Metcalfe and Stock will each share a portion of 30% of the vote leaving Murkowski and Miller to battle it out for the remaining 70%. Last matchup between Miller/Murkowski the Democratic challenger received only 23% of the vote.

Murkowski has a lot of money, but many see her as part of the problem in DC. She'll have the native vote as they remain loyal to her due to her involvement with Indian affairs in DC, and the moderate Republican vote.

Miller will appeal to the evangelicals, the far right and the "small government" types, of which there are many in here Alaska.

In 2010 Murkowski only beat Miller by 4% (10,000 votes) so this could be another very close race.

9:47 You failed to mention that Lisa was write in candidate when she whipped the Reporter Arrester.

Winning a general election as a write in is significant.

Also. Thanks for your summary to bring people up on situation.

When Joe was running back then I called Lisa's office like many others and asked her to run as a write in even as a democrat I could stomach her over him. But I was a tad miffed when she turned on Begich. It smacked of her Republicaness. Eeeew. If she lost to this guy which we know she won't I wouldn't blink an eye. Even tho he is still worst than her. Karma awaits those who play mean politics.

Well, she could hardly endorse Lisa Murkowski given how her daddy gave her his Senate seat over Sarah.

That was the first time god slammed the door in her face and denied her a fast track to DC.

Joe Miller and Palin 2012- Mr Sarah Palin is PISSED OFF at Joe Miller edition!!

"On September 19, he appeared on Fox News Sunday with Neil Cavuto who addressed the rumor of a Palin presidential run, and asked Miller if he thought Sarah Palin was qualified to be President."

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dcc_1OD1ulI&t=7m34s

"Miller’s non-committal response that there were “a number of great candidates out there” for the job fell far short of a Palin endorsement, and seems to have roused the ire of Todd Palin who launched an angry email blasting Miller on behalf of his wife. Palin sent the email on the morning of the Cavuto interview to Tim Crawford, Joe Miller and the Palins’ personal attorney, Thomas Van Flein (who also serves as Miller’s attorney.) In the email, Todd Palin instructs SarahPAC treasurer Tim Crawford to “Hold off on any letter for Joe. Sarah put her ass on the line for Joe and yet he can’t answer a simple question “is Sarah Palin Qualified to be President”. I DON’T KNOW IF SHE IS.”"

I so wish he could cream her ass. Murkowski is a 'do nothing' Republican that sits in the most disliked Congress in history!

Vote her out of office Alaska! Do yourselves a huge favor! Don Young should also go!

Alaska needs NEW blood and ideas.

    1. If you think we would be better off with Joe Miller in office instead of Lisa Murkowski you know nothing about either one of them. Or anything about Alaska.

Yes Murkowski is a terrible Senator but at least she knows how to do the job, and is not some kind of anti-government idiot.

Hey, Gryphen - I didn't say vote for Joe Miller. I said we need someone other than Lisa Murkowski! I'm 9:54 AM

Hate to tell you this, but I do know a lot about politics - having followed politics in Alaska for many years. I'm am elder senior having lived in Alaska since the 50's! Be careful what you say in your responses, kind sir.

I've also been one that has followed your blog since its inception.

I just cannot abide Lisa Murkowski - have never voted for her and never would!

If you were not suggesting that people vote for Miller, then who the hell was "HE?"

Since Murkowski is a sellout for the people who wrote her name in, this means there is NO candidate who respects the will of the people. No Dem who could take the race... ever.

    Go Alaska.

Joe. Joe, Joe, scamming an election process to feed his family of a dozen kids. Is he even working now? Just like at the borough, where he was a very, very bad boy. The problem with the evangelicals is that in Alaska, it is very hard to get anyone to vote, never mind the evangelicals. Murkowski is not my cup of tea but she is a professional.

Casey Whatshisface suggested that Mark Begich should put his hand up for the Senate seat and make it a fight.

Ha! Alaskans replaced Mark Begich with a total lightweight from Outside whose only ambition was to get the hell out of Alaska and back to DC. All you need is to be a Republican and it won't matter if you're as stupid and corrupt as Sarah Palin.

The last thing this race needs is another Democrat. It's up to the people of Alaska to choose between Lisa and Joe, it could very well be Joe this time. I bet Lisa is pissed as hell that the Libertarians pulled this loo-loo on her. I guess we'll now see what Lisa is really made of because this will be the fight of her life.

Don't forget - Ms. Murkowski can be a first class bitch. We've seen it once and we'll get to see it again.

It's time for Alaskans to select someone other than her for the current 'do nothing' Congress!

She's not bright and I could say so many other things, but will refrain.

Pay attention for whom you cast your vote this go around, Alaskans! We need new blood and new ideas BADLY!

So he's burned his bridges as a Republican candidate.

If he loses as a Libertarian, will he finally call it quits? Will he finally be out of money and support and then slink off to do something else?
