The good news: The Republican party in Alaska has been taken over. The bad news: It looks like Sarah Palin surrogate Joe Miller was behind it.

"Well we finally did it!"
This from Alaska Dispatch:

This weekend, it was the young, sometimes bedraggled but always idealstic and not always so polite, supporters of presidential candidate Ron Paul who were certain that if they were in charge of the party, Alaska and the country would be a better place.

And now they’ll get their chance to prove it.

After at least 12 years of the Alaska GOP being run by what those party newcomers call “establishment Republicans,” a new force is taking over: Alaska Republicans voted Russ Millete as the party’s new chairman and Debbie Holland-Brown as co-chair. They are both supporters of presidential candidate Ron Paul.

Millette, 67, has lived off and on in Alaska, most recently returning to the state in 2005. He will assume chair of the state GOP at the start of 2013. But for now, he will serve as the party’s finance chairman.

Ruedrich, an old-school Republican who had held the job of chairman since 2000, chose not to run again, leaving the field wide open.

Now as somebody who absolutely DESPISES the Republican party in Alaska, I at first welcomed this as good news.  I am NO Ron Paul supporter, but I could NOT imagine how anybody could run the party worse, or make it any more corrupt, than Randy Ruederich.

But then I read this:

... after the party delegates’ votes were tallied Saturday evening, a cheer erupted from Paul supporters on the second floor of the Hilton. Others looked crestfallen. Some blamed failed senatorial candidate Joe Miller and his wife, Kathleen, who spent much of their time Saturday huddled with Paul supporters. Miller was largely expected to jockey for a party leadership position, but it was Kathleen who, sporting a Ron Paul sticker, won a seat on Alaska’s GOP Electoral College.

The Millers were nowhere to be found at the party afterwards at Ron Paul’s Alaska campaign headquarters in downtown Anchorage, where both Millete and Brown spoke to supporters.

“They tried every maneuver they could, but God prevailed,” Millete told the crowd, many who were half his age or younger.

To be sure, not all Paul supporters believe in God, but a certain alliance between the tea party and Paulites was necessary for an upset in GOP politics on the Last Frontier, as evidenced by Joe Miller backers aligning with Paul supporters at this weekend’s convention. And so, regardless of religious beliefs, they cheered for Millete.

Oh shit!

If Miller is quietly behind this pulling the strings, then you can bet your ass that Palin is behind him pulling HIS strings.  After all Palin and Miller attempted a similar coup of the Republican party back in 2008. (As a matter of fact THAT attempt was behind the scandal that helped to derail Miller's run at the Senate seat in 2010.)

Only this time they used the Ron Paul supporters in Alaska to out maneuver the established GOP players. So THAT explains why Palin has been kissing Ron Paul's ass lately!

As much as I have dreamed about the Alaska GOP being taken over, and seeing the old corrupt bastards kicked to the curb, the idea of Palin now having power over the party does NOTHING but fill me with dread.

In fact this might almost make her MORE powerful, and MORE damaging to my state, then she was even as our Governor.

Well so much for me getting a good night's sleep tonight!

Surely this means that Alaska will now stop sucking up federal aid, right? I can't wait to see.

  4. Fear not, Gryph. They will self destruct. Ideologues only know how to work the negative. Once they get into power they invariably screw up. Keep an eye on them. Fraud and malfeasance will ensue and if it can be traced back to Miller/Palin, then they may go to jail like we have always hoped. Just take a look at the Teabaggers who won elections in 2010. Almost all of them are screw-ups and unlikely to survive past their next election.

Alaska Democrats: get out there and work as hard as you can against these fools. You may not win in November, but you will weaken their hold. Check out what's happening in Virginia. Just may go to Obama again. Reason: superior organization and ground game. Remember, that's the state with governor vaginal probe. He may be responsible for Obama winning Virginia again - a key state.

If Palin is involved ,which she probably is, it isn't surprising. She tried to highjack the Tea Party, and now the Ron Paul group. I predict slot of fighting in the future between the two factions--especially on social issues.

The fact that Alaskans ... Republicans AND Democrats ... have no power nationally ... that we are so very provincial and basically ignored and often laughed at and about up here ... makes this whole thing a non-issue. Look at our last string of Republican governors ... what jokes, all of them. Look at our Juneau government, as do-nothing as a legislative body can get. Look at our tampered-with Anchorage election, that will most likely get swept under the rug and allowed to stand without any outside investigation. Hardly matters who is in control of anything here. We're a bunch of little folks thinking we're important and messing things up worse and worse. And because all I do about it is complain from time to time, I'm just as guilty as the people i complain about.

Ya'll got those, plus the corrupt bastards & bitches. Then you add that psycho Palin to the mix and you got all kinds of scary stupid going on up there.

Sarah Palin has NO creditability within the State of Alaska anymore! The majority of the residents know her to be a liar, fraud and inept.

For that matter, she is no longer regarded nationally within the Republican party. People laugh at her now!

And, her proven pimp husband, Todd? He provides her zero credence! The Palins are a horrid family and assuredly are NOT examples anyone in the United States would want to emulate!

IF Sarah has touched this at all, it will turn to shit, as does EVERYTHING she gets behind, so I wouldn't be too concerned Gryphen. She will hang herself on her own petard, and will he and his creepy wife.

People's eyes are way more open now than they were in the past and many have an eagle eye on Joe the Butt Boy and Sarah the Pimp's wife.

She's still a joke and her power is diminishing daily, rapidly, permanently. The news barely even covers her anymore. She's an international joke and the closer we get to seeing who MittMoney chooses for his wannabe VP, the more Sarah will be held up as a horrific mistake and stupid hail Mary. The photo at the top of the article really highlights Palin's man jaw. It's huge!

But, if Palin has more say in the Republican party than she did before, this could also lead to a disaster for the party. As I understand it, Palin is not a popular figure for most Republicans in the State, and any input on her part may be turned against her by the party leading to more problems than before. I'm going to stick my neck out and predict both Palin and Miller will severely damage the party and its political influence in the State if they have any influence in the party.

Of course, it may also be true she has no or very little influence in the Republican Party and will be ignored along with Miller. Miller may have had some influence in changing the party leadership, but anything beyond that he may out because of his unpopularity. This is particularly true with the whining he continues to do in the courts over his lost election.

Of COURSE Palin will screw this up. What else could we except from her?

I had been worried that she would simply stay in the shadows and manipulate things so that her presence would not alert Alaskans to her plans, but better than just about anybody I should know better than that!

Her ego will never allow that, and she will HAVE to make her presence known. Which can only be a good thing in the long run for Democrats in this state.

Sarah Palin has no place in the Establishment Republican Party. Karl Rove had her number a long time ago when Sarah quit her job as governor to cash in. He suggested, then, that Sarah take some time off, study, write a serious book. Sarah had a book ghost written for her, and several years later, she sounds as dumb as she did when she asked, "In what regard, Charlie?"

The Tea Party drives the Republican Party to the Right, the far right. It may be attractive to the Religious Right and the extreme right wing of the party, but the way to win the national election is to appeal to the independents and moderates. Let Sarah cast her lot with the Tea Party. They are the only party that will have her. Sarah didn't have a seat at the Fox table, and she endorsed the wrong candidate.

As for Sarah's celebrity-- when she quit her job as governor, she gave speech after speech. She caused shock waves when she rode around in a bus. Now, she hardly attracts attention. She is still telling the Trig Birth story four years later. She has no new material. What does she have to do, get pregnant again to get some attention?

Actually, this was quite brilliant on Palin's part, akin to those kids who get through school without learning how to read.

When she said, "In what regard, Charlie?",

Charlie Gibson ALMOST tells her Exactly what the Bush Doctrine was.

If he'd said, "Well, simply the idea that we can strike supposed enemies first, do you agree with that?"

And she could have gone OFF on how YES it was SO important to keep America safe, blah blah blah.

But Gibson happened to catch himself.

But Google Palin's Charlie Rose appearance w. Janet Napolitano.

Palin did the Biden-Debate Pivot even back then if she didn't have the answer she needed (she never did).

A question about Education was posed to Palin: she pivoted into ENERGY and all of her bullshit talking points. Napolitano saved Palin's ass numerous times.

...But this? was the video that McCain's team saw of Palin and thought she was VP material?

She has gotten away with this for soooo long.

      Zero substance.

That's why I say, I, like every American I'm speaking with, we're ill about this position that we have been put in where it is the tax payers looking to bail out, but ultimately, what the bailout does is help those who are concerned about the healthcare reform that is needed to help shore up our economy, helping tho— it's got to be all about job creation too, shoring up our economy, and putting it back on the right track, so healthcare reform and reducing taxes and reining in spending has got to accompany tax reductions and tax relief for Americans. This was a Ron Paul-supporter takeover. Ron Paul would never support a guy like Joe Miller getting a $70,000 attorney job and applying for a welfare hunting/fishing license.

The fact that Palin was both absent from the proceeding and silent speaks volumes about the amount of influence she has in the Alaska Republican party- with or without CBC Ruedrich.

My comment WAS about Joe Miller taking a $70,000 attorney job, and THEN (after he got the job) applying for and receiving a $5 hunting/fishing license reserved for very low income people. Technically he might have been eligible, because it's based upon prior year income.

But I bet Ron Paul wouldn't cotton to that kind of behavior from a guy who claimed to be a "conservative" while he had his hand out for every government subsidy that came down the pike.

    Not really.

The Ron Paul supporters, acting on the ideas and principles that Ron Paul has presented, are not the Tea Baggers.

The Tea Baggers in this instance and who behaved badly at the convention are actually hardcore members of the JOE MILLER FAN CLUB.

The Republican voters, who elected Russ Millette, were comprised of the actual Ron Paul supporters following Dr. Paul's ideas AND JOE MILLER FANATICS.

JOE MILLER FANATICS who comprise the JOE MILLER FAN CLUB are TEA BAGGERS OF THE WORST EXTREME.

Russ Millete is NOT a JOE MILLER FANATIC. When he is finally able to take the lead in the Alaska Republican Party, he will do a good job. Surprising, because the Party ha been run so poorly over the last many years.

And another thing, the Juneau Republican Women's Group needs to return the Republican treasury to the acting treasurer and future chairman, Russ Millette, immediately. Gone are the days when Randy offered financial assistance to Randy's male picks in state senate races only.

Finally, women candidates will have some hope of party assistance in their legislative races and elsewhere. So the sooner the money returns from a Juneau women's group, the better. If you'd like to send it to me Paullet Simmons, I'll be happy to deliver it directly to Mr. Millette.

That is not the individual deciding their own conscience about who to vote for, it is not the Democracy they claim to love so much. This is bullies against bullies. This is a vaguely bearded man using people to get himself into a powerful position. Getting into a powerful position is the goal of most psychopaths. AK just got a lot more scary. He did not try to get into a powerful position most likely because he plans to run for office. We have a governor and two senators who need to be replaced and he will take advantage of the disgusted people of AK by telling them what they want to hear, none of it will be true.

    How true! Sarah Palin is
    By Chris | 04/29/12 - 04:28 pm
How true! Sarah Palin is seen as a loser and a quitter to almost all Alaskans. All she wanted to do was become Governor of our State and then have the State pay for all the perks for her and her family. Every thought she has is about how to line her own bank account or get herself some media attention. We all knew there was no way she could handle the duties of VP because she was more interested in having her pictures taken, clothes shopping, giving interviews etc. and didn't have any knowledge about oil or energy or how to run a small business. She claims that she does--but it is her husband who has the family fishing business for two weeks and $40,000 is not a business to brag about. Polls in our state show that if she ran for any political office in our State, she would not be elected. We all wish that she would just move away--let her take her wacky family and peddle their soap opera in Hollywood--she can even take Rebecca Mansour with her. Sarah never had any plans of running in 2012--it was just all a tease to get her attention like a celebrity and to fill her Super PAC with donations. Just like trademarking her own name--pathetic thing that only an egomaniac would do. Sarah cannot keep her own dysfunctional family out of trouble but imagine how awful it would be if she was running our country. She cannot form a sentence that makes sense - and she goes crazy every day, ranting and raving against someone for whom she carries a grudge. And she honestly believes that her fans will believe her when she says she has never been defeated.

I know the feeling, my state has a GOP Governor after having eight years of Ed Rendell, and the shit's already hit the fan. Alaska deserves better!

Anita where are you in PA? We need to talk! There is a supercool opportunity in June to address babygate publicly. I registered. Maybe we can go together. I'm in SE PA.

"I always wondered why, when people push Palin as the energy expert gov, that people don't bring up govs from other energy producing states who know far more than Palin does. Perry was a bozo Presidential candidate, and Jindal is sappy, but you can bet they know more about energy than Palin. Far more."

    Response:
Palin only knows what people tell her.

Don't believe me? Look at SarahPac expense reports. How much money was given to political causes and other candidates and how much money was spent on advisers?

A lot of money was given to her and she used it to have people tell her what is going on in America and in the world.

That bimbo can't even recite the history of Paul Revere after just hearing it. That ass wipe kept on saying "O'Biden" after her advisers kept telling her his name is "Biden". That shit for brains kept on calling Herman Cain "Herb Cain".

Sarah Palin is your typical beauty pageant contestant who gets lost in the questions. The only difference is that her face ages faster than anybody on the planet.

No wonder Sarah's kids are the way they are.

I think this is wonderful. Everything Palin touches eventually turns to crap. It's the (marginally sane) establishment Republicans who are, and should be pissed because the (more extreme) radicals are taking over. Goodbye Alaska GOP.

What in the heck is Sarah doing in Australia? Did her Pac money pay for the trip?

C'mon Sarah- nobody sane would wear a hot pink shower curtain in public- except, of course, for insane you.
