The Washington Post is washing their hands of this whole Hillary Clinton e-mail thing.

About damn time Washington Post.
The article by the Washington Post Editorial Board starts off by pointing out that there is a false equivalency which paints the e-mail kerfuffle as being just as damaging to Clinton as Donald Trump's never ending torrent of scandals are to him.

That of course is ridiculous, and yet the media continuously feels the need to appear non-partisan by suggesting that Hillary's choice to use a private server is on par with Donald Trump essentially being Vladimir Putin's butt-boy and a candidate so prone to exaggeration and out right lying that he is driving fact checkers to the point of exhaustion.

Here are the things that happened this week which the editorial board believes makes any further talk of Hillary Clinton's e-mail server unnecessary:

In fact, Ms. Clinton’s emails have endured much more scrutiny than an ordinary person’s would have, and the criminal case against her was so thin that charging her would have been to treat her very differently. Ironically, even as the email issue consumed so much precious airtime, several pieces of news reported Wednesday should have taken some steam out of the story. First is a memo FBI Director James B. Comey sent to his staff explaining that the decision not to recommend charging Ms. Clinton was “not a cliff-hanger” and that people “chest-beating” and second-guessing the FBI do not know what they are talking about. Anyone who claims that Ms. Clinton should be in prison accuses, without evidence, the FBI of corruption or flagrant incompetence.

Second is the emergence of an email exchange between Ms. Clinton and former secretary of state Colin Powell in which he explained that he used a private computer and bypassed State Department servers while he ran the agency, even when communicating with foreign leaders and top officials. Mr. Powell attempted last month to distance himself from Ms. Clinton’s practices, which is one of the many factors that made the email story look worse. Now, it seems, Mr. Powell engaged in similar behavior.

Last is a finding that 30 Benghazi-related emails that were recovered during the FBI email investigation and recently attracted big headlines had nothing significant in them. Only one, in fact, was previously undisclosed, and it contained nothing but a compliment from a diplomat. But the damage of the “30 deleted Benghazi emails” story has already been done.

The Post suggests that Clinton deserves some of the blame for being careless, but that it does not rise to the level of illegality, and should not have any impact on her campaign.

The Post then wraps it up with this:

Imagine how history would judge today’s Americans if, looking back at this election, the record showed that voters empowered a dangerous man because of . . . a minor email scandal. There is no equivalence between Ms. Clinton’s wrongs and Mr. Trump’s manifest unfitness for office.

I am hoping that most of the other mainstream media outlets follow the Post's lead and step away from this story leaving it to the Right Wing nutjobs like Alex Jones and Matt Drudge which is where it has always belonged in the first place.

There are still some things that Hillary Clinton can legitimately be criticized for, but none of them suggest that she is a criminal, a traitor, or even a murderer.

So if these are the things that you still believe about her, and feel you need to tell others, then congratulations you are officially a Right Wing troll.

Yes, the time for this piece was long overdue. Mrs Clinton has been vilified for decades now simply because she is a strong, educated and competent woman. People criticized her hairstyles and her commitment to her marriage back then when they couldn't trash her for having a career. I admire her tremendously for having the perseverance to stay focused and keep going with all she's been through.

On another topic, have the Johnstons found time from their busy schedules to register to vote? Gryphen says he has convinced some young people to vote Democratic. If I'm assured they would do so in this election, I might be persuaded to donate to Levi's new truck fund. But not til then. There's no such thing as a free lunch and I think that's a small price to pay, though I expect to be criticized here even for this.

Wow. You really went the long way around for that completely unwarranted and off topic attack on Levi. Well played, troll. And fuck you.

7:03 PM - that's the immaturity in both of them. The incessant memes - who are they trying to convince of their "forever" love? Themselves or others? So junior high/high school.

      How old are they again????

False equivalency, 8.01- but it was a nice try. Bristol Palin's pathetic little TV show (was it called 'All About Levi'?) demonstrated the dynamic quite plainly, with the Palin sisters non-stop calling Levi and Sunny at work- and quite shameless about it (almost like they weren't aware that in a real job one doesn't hang on the phone most of the day like Bristol did at her fake job).

And let's not forget the producers tried to get Levi to be part of the stupid show and he couldn't say no fast enough.

So NO, take your "immaturity in both of them" and shove it where the sun don't shine.

And for the information of all other trolls, Sunny closed her Facebook months ago- so you can STFU about that too.

That poor Sunny has just been so used and abused by the Palins. Poor thing. I hope she's not damaged for life from all they've put her through. Poor girl. I don't see how she goes on. Poor, poor Sunny.

Are they washing their hands of Hillary's emails or are they quitting before looking at Collin Powells?

They're backtracking 'cause they didn't do due diligence. 'Cause that is what the GOP has become. Spew shit over and over, and when proven wrong, walk away, leaving corporations and politicians to profit and the middle class picking up the tab.

I hope they all just wash their hands of either of their emails. The story has dragged out way too long. Besides now the RWNJ are so concerned about Clinton's grave "health condition" so all their effort will go towards that. It doesn't matter that she is regularly visible on the campaign trail all over the country looking like the picture of health. Hillary looks a lot healthier, and more presidential, than trump every will.

Perhaps they're quitting before they see Condoleezza Rice's emails. That is assuming that any of the survived the Bush administration's mass deletion of emails.

Amen. And the truth is that nothing bad has happened to this nation due to any of the emails to or from State. If Snowden is so awesome, how come he hasn't found anything totally damning in any of them? There is nothing there. Hey, Ed, how about you do a service for THIS nation, and find Trump's tax returns?

It makes me want to scream when the media talks about Hillary's "trust issue". Clearly, she is truthful most of the time, clearly DontheCon lies most of the time. FactCheck has proved it. Why doesn't the media report this truth?

Colbert did an excellent job on Trump and Bondi last night. My only complaint is he left out the Trump/CitizensUnited/NewYorkAttyGeneral connection.

And I seem to recall that lawsuit where Bondi wouldn't give the Katrina victims back their dog. I remember thinking at the time what a scumbag she was.

Once again the late show comics are doing a better job of reporting this election than our main stream media.

    3. It's a play from the conservative playbook: Do you have proof that Trump and Putin haven't had a gay relationship? Trump frequently uses that tactic. Like the woman I knew who told me she had no proof Obama wasn't the anti-Christ. That she didn't have proof that he was was immaterial. Simple-minded people for whom reasoning is a burden rely on such suggestions. Very often these people characterize themselves as values voters; however, the first value they always overlook is truth.

    That's all well and good.

But what they need to do is stop giving Trump free publicity and start exposing and hammering on all of his transgressions.

The paying off of Bondi to drop the Trump U lawsuit.

The paying off of Citizens United to pay for New York to do the same.

Then the hiring of the head of Citizens United.

The possible trafficking disguised as modeling operations and more research into possible illegal immigration connected to same.

Yeah, there is a TON of stuff they should be investigating and reporting on Trump. How about they stop with the clown show and start to turn on the heat?

More illegal campaign contributions in Florida.

Trump donated $2,000 to Charlie Crist when the limit was $500. He used three companies he owns to do it.

      http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/donald-trump-charlie-crist-donations_us_57d36bd5e4b06a74c9f4e9e4?section=&

Why aren't all of these illegal acts by this Putin Puppet being blasted all over the media. Not one peep on the nightly news.

"In the 1980s, Trump admitted to using his web of companies to contribute tens of thousands of dollars beyond the legal limit to the campaign of the chairman of the New York City Council. And in 1993, Trump paid a $15,000 fine to the Federal Election Commission for exceeding the legal limit of contributions to federal candidates. "

And there you go. He gets away with it because when he's caught he only gets a piddly slap on the wrist fine. He figures it's cheaper to pay the fine than to follow the law. He operates on the iceberg principle, that they'll only find a 10th of what he's really doing so in the end, he gains more than he loses in itty bitty fines.

"More recently, Trump has come under fire for using his tax-exempt nonprofit, the Donald J. Trump Foundation, to give $25,000 to a PAC supporting Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi’s reelection bid. Such donations violate nonprofit tax laws, and Trump was fined $2,500.

The donation to Bondi was made during a short window of time in September of 2013 when Bondi’s office was deciding whether to investigate Trump University, the Republican nominee’s now-shuttered seminar program.

Trump is facing lawsuits in multiple states alleging that the company defrauded customers. Bondi, however, decided not to pursue legal claims against Trump over Trump University.

Trump later hosted a fundraiser for Bondi at his home in Palm Beach in March 2014. He held a similar fundraising event for Crist in June 2005 in Manhattan, helping to introduce the attorney general to wealthy New Yorkers. "

Yes indeed, all the loyal tea party rags, hags and nags must move on. The face of the few remaining tRump defenders sit in senate and house with their white pointed hats and crooked smile's, and withhold their vote. They continue to obstruct and waste the American taxpayer's time and money. Their hateful self serving crime was built by them and they own. And it shall be written in History.
