Hey Alaska! |
For the first time since its formation in 1966, the Alaska Federation of Natives has officially endorsed a U.S. presidential candidate.
As the organization gears up for its annual convention in Fairbanks, AFN announced on Wednesday morning that the Board had adopted a resolution endorsing Hillary Clinton for president.
In a press release explaining the decision, AFN said that Clinton’s priorities closely reflected those of native Alaskan communities, so much so that the board was “compelled to break tradition.”
“AFN and many of our members have long held policies of non-endorsement when it comes to presidential elections, and some Board members abstained because they needed further internal discussions with their groups,” AFN said in the statement. “Overall the AFN Board voted decisively to endorse Hillary Clinton as the best choice for President of the United States.
Holy crap my heart is beating so hard in my chest that I can barely hear myself think.
Now of course this in no way means that ALL native Alaskans will vote for Hillary, nor that the state is about to go blue, but it IS a very big deal.
The native vote is how Lisa Murkowski managed to win the Senate as a write in candidate back in 2010, and they are a voting block with some real influence.
Just let me forewarn you that if Alaska ends up voting for the Democrat for the first time in over 40 years I am going to be impossible to live with.
I will be running around my house screaming, and every post on here for the first day will be some version of "How do you like me now?"
And of course I will also feel compelled to reach out and thank Sarah Palin for helping to destroy the Republican party and turn my state blue for the first time since 1964.
I'm thinking flowers and a nice card.
Yes, I would be THAT excited.
Do you mean that Sarah Palin's plate of cookies did not sway the Natives?
ReplyDelete"thinking flowers and a nice card." That is nice idea, but don't do it. I did that once, just got a"FUCK YOU BACK" So......
ReplyDeleteP.s.+ with maybe a little help from the friends at IM too.
;-)
He could simply send her the cheapest FTD bouquet with an anonymous card with a huge gloat inside. Maybe add some Taco Bell coupons.
DeleteFor a flower, may I suggest a Venus Flytrap.
ReplyDeleteAs for a card I might suggest:( Even Skanks deserve thanks.)
black orchid or long stem roses, just the thorny stems.
DeleteThat is awesome about AK. I will keep my fingers crossed for you. A trump supporter knocked on my door here it NC yesterday. I didn't feel like a fight so I told him I preferred not to answer when he asked me who I was voting for. My husband is voting for the first time. I want sooooo badly to find some others who speak Vietnamese and have them speak it loudly at the voting site. It that bad?
ReplyDeleteOT?GOPee say> “Donald Trump’s policy proposals as a candidate for president would have a deleterious effect on the federal budget,”

Waking up Friday morning Down Under with none other than Ethan Berkowitz being interviewed on Melbourne radio.
ReplyDeleteI think that it is wonderful that the Alaskan Federation of Natives endorsed Hillary Clinton. Since she was a college student she has worked on behalf of children, women and families. And I think that the country will benefit from her concerns on ways to better the lives of children, women and families everywhere.

So I guess that means Tawd Palin's relatives support Clinton.....lol.

ReplyDeleteNO NO NO! After everything Gov Sarah Palin has done for the natives and the entire state, that's how they pay me back? My name should be a write in as a show of appreciation for her years of dedicated service.
ReplyDelete-Lou Sarah
We're finally going blue just like Sarah Palin's balls.
ReplyDeleteWe will all be thanking the Skank and her Brisket for paving the way for Donald Trump. Thanks!!!
ReplyDeleteMaybe we can all send a "for tanking the GOP" card after the election.
DeleteThe icing on the cake would be she is picked up by the FBI for unAmerican activities, inciting violence and other traitorous activities.
The comments in the KTUU article are astounding! Why would Alaskan's want Trump for President? I just cannot believe how down-right stupid they are!
ReplyDeleteI think a much more appropriate gift for $P would be a large box of wolf and bear scat FROM AFN.
ReplyDeleteEveryone knows the Alaska Federation of Natives is biased and RIGGED!
ReplyDeleteThose lamestream Natives never thank Sarah for all she does.
DeleteRump is learning the hard way that you don't fuck with women. OK, I loaded much double entendre there.
ReplyDelete'Nasty' Women Everywhere Rising Up To Reclaim Trump's Insult At Clinton

Hilarious, that was Trump's "binder full of woman" moment.
Deletethe best part is, it is going to make him even madder when he finds out all these women are making fun of him instead of getting angry.
My favorite: You know what a #NastyWoman is good at? Voting.
Trump Lied More Than Once A Minute During The Debates And He Still Lost
ReplyDelete...In total, Trump has told at least 137 lies over the three presidential debates—and that’s excluding the countless falsehoods he spews daily on the campaign trail. That’s roughly one lie per every 50 seconds he spoke.
It turns out that flat out lying isn’t a substitute for having policies and knowledge about the issues that are facing the country.
http://www.politicususa.com/2016/10/20/trump-lied-minute-debates-lost.html
What if it was one of those recordable cards with a nice clip from the debates or the victory speech?
ReplyDeleteBut Grypen, the Donald Trump supporters here in Alaska are being mean to us Natives on social media. They are saying we want free things, and all that. I am a Native, and I don't get things for free. I get that permanant fund. So do they I bet. Then I get 500 a year from our regional corperation. Then maybe 400 from a local corperation. For how long for all that? Who knows. But I pay taxes on all those. Sigh. Free, free. I been on this earth a long time and nothing is really free. Just stop complaining. Let's figure all this so called free money out instead of blaming, blaming, blaming. Geez, as humans we are smarter than that aren't we?
ReplyDeleteThe Natives are the original owners of the land that is being used to provide the funds for the PFD. Some city slickers whose families moved their from other states and live in their apartments, owning no land at all, sitting home and complaining about Native Americans is sad.
DeleteThis is delightful news! Hopefully, we'll see that Lisa Murkowski is not reelected to her seat in the 'do nothing' U.S. Congress!
ReplyDeleteHillary Clinton has my vote too! Already cast it Absentee!
'WETBACK' The other Donny NO LONGER young longest congressman MUST GO. More then Lisa! HE IS A DISGRACE to Fort Yukon, Alaska, and The House of Representatives He is Just self interested BOARing PIG.

Does anyone want to talk about the fact that Donald Trump brought up the fact that the Clinton Foundation has taken money from governments that execute LGBT people by pushing them off buildings.* This is factually accurate. Does this create a conflict of interest though? Is the money tainted because the regimes are so brutal? Are we going to do a cost benefit analysis were we are willing to say some nice things and legitimatize truly horrific governments because they gave money to help children get vaccinated in other countries? How do we approach this information, and how do we fit it in with Clinton's stated commitment to democracy and equal rights for all people? Certainly she has called out these regimes for human rights violations, but she has also said a lot of good things about them as well.
ReplyDeleteThis is something that I wish was addressed more by Clinton supporters. Do you simply think this is all wrong? Do you ignore it? Do you think that it is part of being pragmatic? What is the line for pragmatism...is the mass execution of gay people okay to serve some greater purpose? I just want these issues to be addressed in a honest and open and serious way.
Can someone please help me with this?
*I will not claim nor do I think it is believable to think that Trump would be any better. He might be worse. But this isn't about comparing two people. This is about simply looking at Clinton, by herself, and judging her actions and positions against an independent ideal morality.
Money is money - they are not getting any influence for giving it (and it is being put to good use) - you can't change people or a country or how a country runs by totally cutting them off - compromise, negotiations, etc. are what moves things forward - do I like taking thier - not particularly - but I can see the long term broader benefits. I don't expect any candidate, even one I feel in my bones is qualified, to be perfect - and I don't claim to understand all the ins and outs - I don't ignore it per se - but as part of the package taking their money is not that big of a deal
DeleteIf the Clinton Foundation took money from regimes and used it to cobat Aids, that's a good thing.More help, and less money for those regimes. It's not like they took money and bought a painting of Bill.
DeleteThey took money from them, they didn't give it to them. They used that money to do good in the world.
DeleteAre you pretending that if it was YOUR life on the line you'd prefer to die?
DeleteFuck off, troll.
I agree that they took money from them and it was put to good use, you have to change the regime from within by helping the people, starting with women and children.
DeleteIt is not the mission of the Clinton foundation to go on a crusade to change corrupt regimes, that is what diplomats are for.
I am more concerned that the US government sends billions to the Saudis, we supplied the planes to build their airforce and when Saddam invaded Kuwait, they ran for the hills and left the dirty work for us.
There is no such thing as ideal morality. Grow up.
DeleteAs long as we are sending thank yous, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Republicans for all the work they put in preparing and rehearsing Hillary for all the debates she has won and for giving her the opportunity to build a steel spine to deflect the abuse they heap upon her. All those investigations cost the country a fortune but it paid off in her debate performances.
ReplyDeleteOur girl has had a steel spine ever since she stopped growing. No assistance from Republicans is required.
DeleteIf Alaska votes for the Democrat, Clinton, and helps to elect her, the best way for you to celebrate would be to publish every single Palin thing you've been holding back on.
ReplyDeleteEvery last detail.
I'd put her steel spine up against $arah's imagined one any day of the week!
Deletethat is an excellent idea.
Deleteyeah common MAN TRAPPED IN A WOMAN's BODY!
DeleteI mean common Sarah...do tell all...hurry!
Hillary Clinton’s 3 debate performances left the Trump campaign in ruins
ReplyDeleteDonald Trump didn't just destroy himself. Hillary Clinton destroyed him.
The third and final presidential debate has ended, and it can now be said: Hillary Clinton crushed Donald Trump in the most effective series of debate performances in modern political history.
http://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2016/10/19/13340828/hillary-clinton-debate-trump-won
She helped. She left out the bait and he took it.
DeleteBut in the end he destroyed himself. He's still doing it.
What she and her team did was analyze his character and then use it against him.
It couldn't have worked more beautifully.
Between "nasty woman" and won't accept election results he is toast. He's done. Finished. Kaput. Vertig. Verloren. Erledigt. Beschlossene Sache.

NBC News:
.... "While the Trump name is a powerful brand name, it may also carry some negative connotation with travelers from around the world," noted Keven Murphy, chair of the Hospitality Services Department, at Rosen College of Hospitality Management in Orlando.
Perhaps that's why Trump's newest hotel line, announced last month, won't bear his name at all: The Trump Organization has dropped the name completely, going for Scion, which means "descendant of a notable family," the company's news release explained...
http://www.nbcnews.com/business/consumer/trump-hotels-getting-beat-trump-campaign-n670266
Scion rhymes with moron!!! When you have to explain the meaning of the brand name, you are or you think your clients are idiots.
DeleteThey can change and hide behind the name but the tacky, tasteless decor will be the give away.
DeleteTrump should have chosen "Drumpf" for his new hotel name; he is not descended from any kind of nobility.

In Botany, a 'scion' is the piece of plant material used in grafting that's attached to a suitable rootstock. Usually done because the scion is too weak on its own root system to grow properly.
DeleteDamn stupid name for a business.

ReplyDeleteWith Empty Rooms and Bookings Plummeting, Trump Hotels Are Taking a Beating
ReplyDeleteDonald Trump may already be calling for a recount of votes in what he claims will be a rigged election — but he may also want to recount the empty rooms at his hotels.
The Republican presidential nominee's actions out on the campaign trail don't seem to be doing much for occupancy rates at his chain of five-star Trump-branded hotels....
While the Los Angeles Dodgers stayed at the Trump International Hotel and Tower in Chicago this past May, its Mexican-American first baseman Adrian Gonzalez would not.
"I had my reasons," is all Gonzalez would say about the lodging choices, but at least one newspaper linked the choice to Trump's anti-Mexican campaign statements.
Bookings at the newly opened Trump International Hotel, Washington, D.C. on Pennsylvania Avenue also seem to be bearing the brunt of this contentious election cycle....
The Trump family plans an official ribbon-cutting and press conference for the D.C. hotel on October 26, but for now, it's the falling room rates that are getting noticed.
Despite its prime location and promotional mentions by Donald Trump himself, "empty rooms have forced hotel to reduce rates during the peak season," noted New York Magazine....

O/T I think we all know at this point REVENGE is Trump’s middle name. He use to be “friends” with the Clinton’s, so my question is has anyone read anything about some “falling out” between them?
ReplyDeleteThe reason I am asking is because Trump continually attacks Hillary personally, he wasn’t debating or highlighting differences in policies, it has all been personal or is it just because she is a woman?
Trump is attacking Hillary Clinton personally because that's who he is. He cannot separate politics from himself. He is his brand and no one is allowed to mess with his brand. Not a good way to behave if you want to be a successful politician. Can you imagine if President Obama let every political slight affect him personally?
DeleteBeaglemom
Dumbass Palin said that Trump will accept a loss if Dems can prove that it wasn't rigged. Shit, since they are the ones making asinine accusations, THEY are the ones that need to prove that it was. Real proof, not made up shit that Trump pulls from his ass. Also, too. Trump does NOT have to concede for the election to be valid. It's just a custom, like showing your tax returns, and medical records.(And, we know that Sarahskank did not release a real medical record, so, there's that). The winner is the winner, and Inauguration goes on, with or without Trump"s concession.
ReplyDeleteWE don't have to prove anything to sarah palin!!!

ReplyDeleteCalling Elizabeth Warren Pocahontas didn't do him any favors either.
They are pretty united in their detestation of Trump.
It may not flip Alaska but it will lower his numbers. Same for Arizona. Even if Arizona stays red, Trump will win it with much lower numbers than previous Republicans. Same for Texas.
He is just pissing off a lot of people. As we heard last night.
Not just Muslims or Latinos or Women. He's even pissed off his own party with his outrageous statements. If he didn't kill his chances before, that statement about not accepting the election results killed him.
People may accept attaching the government but they won't accept attacking DEMOCRACY. And that's exactly what he did.
BTW James O'Keefe was there as a guest last night. Why? Remember Donald accusing the Democrats and Hillary of recruiting violence at one of Donald's rallies? They keep citing a 16 minute video tape. From where? Project Veritas. And who is Project Veritas? It's JAMES O'KEEFE.
When is someone going to put this piece of shit in prison? He hasn't broken enough laws yet or just not broken them enough?
I was wondering about these so called riots in Chicago he kept yakking about, for a minute I thought he was having flash backs to '68 when Nixon hired thugs to pose as demonstators.
DeleteUSA has a long history of cooking the books!
DeleteToo bad they will be broke as a church mouse!
Imagine if Hillary Clinton or the Clinton Foundation had sent over a donation to Correct the Record just ahead of her announcement that she was running for President. Imagine that the news broke in the last couple of weeks of the election, just as Correct the Record was releasing some opposition research on Trump.
ReplyDeleteBoy, would the media be all over that? You bet they would.
That's what Donald Trump did, according to a report from ThinkProgress today.
In May, 2015, just ahead of his run for President, Trump's foundation sent a $10,000 donation to James O'Keefe's Project Veritas.
Trump neglected, however, to mention his own connection to the videos, released by James O’Keefe and his Project Veritas tax-exempt group. According to a list of charitable donations made by Trump‘s controversial foundation (provided to the Washington Post in April by Trump’s campaign), on May 13, 2015, it gave $10,000 to Project Veritas.
http://crooksandliars.com/2016/10/trumps-foundation-funded-james-okeefes
Could be why O'Keefe's "documentary" is getting no traction with the media.
DeleteAlso that he is a known liar and fraud.
I'm sure calling himself a "journalist" has made him plenty of enemies amongst actual journalists.
Poor, poor Jimmy. He spent all that time cutting and pasteing up this great hack job and no one is paying any attention. Except for Breitbart. So no one is paying any attention. Must suck to be him.
He did get to go to the debate, though. At Trump's invitation.
I'll bet in middle school little Jimmy ate his lunch all by himself (because he was probably a prick even then) and got beat up for his lunch money. I'm sure he would run home every day chanting "I'll show them."
