In what could be considered an accidental byproduct of Donald Trump's lewd behavior toward women, thousands of them are now sharing their own stories of sexual harassment and rape.

Courtesy of the Washington Post:

One by one, they poured out Friday, thousands of stories of sexual abuse posted to social media — a conversation that was ignited after news broke of a leaked video showing Donald Trump bragging about having his way with women.

Starting Friday afternoon, thousands of people shared personal stories on social media of being sexually assaulted, many using the hashtag #NotOkay. For many hours, #NotOkay was a trending topic on Twitter in the United States. A day later, the hashtag continued going strong.

The outpouring seems to have started after several prominent Twitter users posted about the potential consequences of brushing off Trump's comments. Doing so, they said, would normalize and enable "rape culture." And, they argued, this kind of behavior was more commonplace than some might think.

"If you don't think this will affect female [voter] turn out and crossover, perhaps you should ask a woman to recount all the times she was groped," tweeted Clara Jeffrey, editor-in-chief of Mother Jones.

One such woman is actress Amber Tamblyn, who is married to actor David Cross and had a very powerful response to Trump's language in that tape, for reasons that will become abundantly clear when you read her statement:

I need to tell you a story. With the love and support of my husband, I’ve decided to share it publicly.

A very long time ago I ended a long emotionally and physically abusive relationship with a man I had been with for some time. One night I was at a show with a couple girlfriends in Hollywood, listening to a DJ we all loved. I knew there was a chance my ex could show up, but I felt protected with my girls around me. Without going into all the of the details, I will tell you that my ex did show up, and came up to me in the crowd. He’s a big guy, taller than me. The minute he saw me, he picked me up with one hand by my hair and with his other hand, he grabbed me under my skirt by my vagina— my pussy?— and lifted me up off the floor, literally, and carried me, like something he owned, like a piece of trash, out of the club. His fingers were practically inside of me, his other hand wrapped tightly around my hair. I screamed and kicked and cried. He carried me this way, suspended by his hands, all the way across the room, pushing past people until he got to the front door. My friends ran after him, trying to stop him. We got to the front door and I thank God his brothers were also there and intervened. In the scuffle he grabbed at my clothes, trying to hold onto me, screaming at me, and inadvertently ripped off my grandmother’s necklace, which I was wearing. The rest of this night is a blur I do not remember. How I got out to the car. How I got away from him that night. I never returned for my necklace either.

That part of my body, which the current Presidential Nominee of the United States Donald Trump recently described as something he’d like to grab a woman by, was bruised from my ex-boyfriend’s violence for at least the next week. I had a hard time wearing jeans. I couldn’t sleep without a pillow between my legs to create space.

To this day I remember that moment. I remember the shame. I am afraid my mom will read this post. I’m even more afraid that my father could ever know this story. That it would break his heart. I couldn’t take that. But you understand, don’t you? I needed to tell a story.

Sometimes even the darkest clouds have a silver lining, and if the only thing positive that comes out of these disgusting stories we are hearing about Donald Trump is that women start sharing stories of their own abuse, and find that not only are they not alone but that there are thousands of them, perhaps that will help demystify the problem and give these women a feeling of support.

It might also help to strengthen law protecting employees in the workplace against this kind of situation, because it does not matter if you are powerful, or a star, you cannot "get away with anything."

Wow....cringe worthy event to say the least. Clinton decided for whatever reasons to let him off the hook, maybe to use the lies in her ads, I don't know. One thing that really pissed me off was Trump calling her "she" constantly, such disrespect. Growing up if we ever referred to my mother as "she" during an argument...we were dead. Clinton allowed him to get away with saying "in the history blah blah blah, there has never been such lies, criminal yada yada..omg, are you kidding? We have Trump University, Trump Foundation, Trump taxes, Trump bribery and various issues under investigation as we speak. He brags about self funding which we all know is just a grift...he uses donor money to pay himself back for outrageous expenses to use his plane, his hotels, anywhere he owns property.

I mean there is a sucker born every minute in Trump's brain and hes out to get them all. If you remember going to a circus or the boardwalk as a kid and listen to the barkers trying desperately for you to go in their tent...they talk super fast, repeating words over and over, using adjectives and hand gestures...sounds familiar? Trump has that style of huckster...his physical presence is so gross, his mouth really does look like an asshole. I used to say blowfish but his scowl along with that hair is just disgusting. His mouth piece Kellyanne is exactly the same and SNL as usual (Kate) got her spot on.

It really doesn't matter how old that video was...we all know that is Trump. Locker room? I don't think so, except ones at his golf clubs if he's in attendance. I imagine his new wife especially enjoyed hearing that although she must have known the kind of man he was. He opened the flood gates on the entire "rape/assault culture" in the military, our colleges, our workplace that women have been dealing with forever. I am finally more optimistic on the senate & congress...thanks Donnie.

as humans - we must fix this. no one is an object or a body part. we are alive and whole in our minds and bodies.

caring humans do not take things from a position of power.

we create a relationship where taking is not required, and giving is the way we share that which is most precious.

I was triggered before the Drumpf tapes broke. Now I'm glad I have my service dog because all the skills in the world can't protect me from all of.... this.

Not sure which is the worst bit - that a bully might become president or having to listen to smug male (and some female) journalists tell me I'm 'over reacting' because rape culture is a liberal PC thing.

I won't wish rape on those fools. I WON'T wish rape on those fools. No, I won't. I'm taking the high road. Karma is a bitch. I'll let her make her own introductions.

Now that trump responded at the debate that the locker room talk was only talk, I expect more women who have been sexually assaulted by trump will be speaking up. There have already been a few but there are probably many more who will come forward similar to how many women revealed they had been raped by bill cosby.

I believe we have just seen the tip of the iceberg as far as Donald Trump is concerned.

I think there are going to be more women coming forward and I would think since it is a crime, his boiler plate non disclosure agreement is worthless. If fact it seems like the woman could use it against him in a court of law.

The very fact that he is trying to cover all this up with his excuse it is only locker room talk says volumes about his character. He hates women and they are not worthy of being treated like human beings only objects.

He may regret bringing those women that claim Clinton raped them to the town hall meeting, next debate Hillary could probable fill the audience with his victims.

Also the charges those women brought years ago were investigated. Paula Jones sexual harassment case was settled and in 1999 there is a video of Trump calling her a LOSER.

Wiley case was investigated and there was no evidence and Juanita said under oath nothing happened.

Also Bill Clinton is not running for president, his slimeness is.

Ok, I found something about the 4th woman:

Kathy Shelton was a 12-year-old rape victim and the man who raped him was represented by Hillary Rodham Clinton.

In the case of Shelton, Hillary Clinton was ordered to represent the rapist by an Arkansas judge, which she said she did despite being uncomfortable with the case.

Trump aide dismisses as 'quip' his threat to jail Clinton
by JULIE BYKOWICZ - The Associated Press

Donald Trump's campaign manager is dismissing as "a quip" Trump's threat to jail Hillary Clinton if he wins the presidency.

The Republican presidential nominee made the threat an unprecedented break with U.S. political decorum in the middle of the second presidential debate, held Sunday in St. Louis......

Trump's remarks drew widespread and bipartisan condemnation as un-American.

Former Attorney General Eric Holder, who served under President Barack Obama, wrote on Twitter: "In the USA we do not threaten to jail political opponents. @realDonaldTrump said he would. He is promising to abuse the power of the office."

Ari Fleischer, White House press secretary under George W. Bush and a supporter of Trump, wrote: "Winning candidates don't threaten to put opponents in jail. Presidents don't threaten prosecution of individuals. Trump is wrong on this."......

He has been making threats about what he WILL DO as President and I think he actually believes he will be able to do anything he wants.

Are there any controls in place to stop a President who thinks he owns the country and is able to do whatever he wants to whoever he wants and do it legally?

This man has spent his entire adult life as owner of his own company where he can fire anyone he wants whenever he wants. He is not going to be able to be as constrained as "the President" is by laws. If there is no way to stop him, he will do irreparable harm to this country.

I'll bet there are so many things that President Obama and First Lady Obama would like to say publically about Donald Trump. But, they can't at this point!

President Obama just signed some kind of a sexual assault law in the White House - a few days ago. Why isn't it getting coverage from the media?

The media/press continue to promote Donald Trump and it is sickening. All for their goddamned ratings! Turn off your TV folks - get your info on the Internet. Hit the media in their financial pockets.

They 'made' Trump (especially the religious jerk that produced "The Apprentice" and now won't release the tapes/videos showing Trump speaking his racist thoughts and being anti women and using women! We all know it's there to be heard and seen!

Did Trump pay them off not to release the information?

We need to remember that there are three branches of government the House, the Senate and the Executive Branch(President). That is my only solace when contemplating a Trump Presidency. If he is elected and that seems less likely by the day, I sure hope the other branches will take him to task and not allow his bullying-bombastic behavior. The President is limited in the things he/she can do on their own, thank goodness in this case. And that is just one side of him. Can you imagine if a Pres Trump started talking about another female world leader or a world leader's wife or daughter in such terms?

It is simply unconscionable that this kind of abuse should be happening so frequently in 2016.

It is beyond my comprehension that we have a candidate for President of the United States who stands on stage and claims that, because it was 'just words', talking about women as if they're pieces of meat to be handled and mauled is okay.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Anonymous6:27 AM

HIS "words" were an accounting of something he DID to someone -- who turned out to probably be Nancy O'Dell. That is much more than "just" words -- it is confessing to sexual assault, and from the way he confessed, it seems he was admitting to doing this over and over and not just to Nancy.

NOW he says, "just words", but women out there are telling their story of encounters with him. They are the proof that what he said was an admission of despicable behavior on his part, multiple times.

If anyone should be put in jail, it is him. And, maybe he will be if this rape accusation and suit ever gets to trial:

When I was 16, I was walking home from school. A man came up behind me, grabbed me around the throat, and shoved his hands down my pants, and tried to wrestle me to the ground. Luckily, I was able to fight him off by biting his hand. He will still have a scar there. This has left an emotional scar on me for the past 40 years. It would be an embarrassment to our country as well as sending a signal that women don’t count as human beings in the USA if that disgusting excuse of a man, Donald Trump won this election.

Not only because Hillary more qualified, but also it would send a signal that it is ok to harasses, assault and rape women because they are only objects to be used by men.

The GOP has been waging a war on women by trying to deny us our fundamental rights. Every election we have to start from the beginning to fight for the most basic rights found in every western society.

It is time to send a very loud message, we aren’t going to take it anymore !!!

Donald Trump has absolutely no redeeming qualities; he has shown the world he has no character, morals, qualifications or ethics whether dealing with business partners, workers or women. I also believe he is seriously mentally ill and a traitor to our country.

I live in Michigan and have received my absentee ballot. I am very proud to vote for Hillary Clinton, not because she is a woman but because she is the most qualified, decent person running.

He acted as a predator during the debate last night in the way he kept following Hillary and standing over and behind her. How close did he actually get to her - did he physically touch her on the back side of her body? We could not see! I don't know how Hillary stopped from turning around and kicking him in his low-hanging balls! She marvels me in how she keeps her cool and maintains decorum.

He was frightening to watch. I so hope no children or teenagers were watching that debate! Trump is teaching our children to be bullies and to not respect women - all you have to do is watch him in action! Sickening!

What is our country coming to? And, especially when the media called the debate a tie, indicating Trump improving substantially from the last debate! FOX news was actually calling Trump the winner of the debate!

He literally made me sick to my stomach. Hated the way he talked to Hillary - saying she had hate in her heart - that if elected he would basically put her on trial and put her in jail.

He acts and talks like a dictator and would be the worst "thing" the country could put in the White House. He is evil and NOT qualified to be POTUS!

    THE SECOND 2016 PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE

Debate officials foiled Trump campaign plan to seat Bill Clinton's accusers in family box
    3:15 a.m. ET

Had a plan devised by Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner and campaign chief executive Stephen Bannon gone through, four women who have accused former President Bill Clinton of sexual misconduct would have been seated in Trump's family box during Sunday night's presidential debate.

The Washington Post spoke with four people involved with discussions for the scheme, who said it was thought up by Bannon and Ivanka Trump's husband, with the personal approval of Donald Trump. Many of Trump's top aides were unaware of the setup, but officials from the Commission on Presidential Debates found out before the debate started and put the kibosh on it, warning that if Paula Jones, Juanita Broaddrick, Kathleen Willey, and Kathy Shelton sat in the box, security would remove them. "We had it all set," Trump surrogate and former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani told the Post. "We wanted to have them shake hands with Bill, to see if Bill would shake hands with them." Clinton has long denied the allegations made against him by the women.

Giuliani said Bannon only backed down three minutes before the debate started, and the women were seated in the general audience. One of the chairmen of the debate commission, former Republican National Committee chairman Frank J. Fahrenkopf, issued the warning to Trump's campaign, and after the debate, Giuliani complained about him, saying it was unfair that during the first debate, billionaire and Clinton surrogate Mark Cuban sat in the front row. "The women were outraged," Giuliani told the Post. "They were in the holding room and ready to go. No one was pushing them. They volunteered." Catherine Garcia
