Excepts from new Megyn Kelly book reveal that Donald Trump pays off journalists, and had debate questions leaked to him ahead of time.

The New York Times received an early copy of Kelly's book and found that it contained some rather explosive inside information about Fox News, Roger Ailes, and Donald Trump.

On leaked questions before the first Republican debate on Fox:

He called Fox executives, saying he’d heard that her first question “was a very pointed question directed at him.” This disconcerted her, because it was true: It was about his history of using disparaging language about women.

She doesn’t speculate where the leak came from. (She reports. You decide.) But that’s another unambiguous takeaway from this book: Parts of Fox — or, at the very least, Roger Ailes, the network’s chairman until July, when he was given the boot after several allegations of sexual harassment were made against him — seemed to be nakedly colluding with the Republican presidential nominee.

“Folks were starting to worry about Trump — his level of agitation did not match the circumstances,” Ms. Kelly writes. “Yes, it was his first debate. But this was bizarre behavior, especially for a man who wanted the nuclear codes.”

On Kelly's concern about Donald Trump's treatment of women:

She was the hen in the Fox house, taking it upon herself to ask at nearly every turn: Shouldn’t we be concerned that the Republican nominee for president is profoundly disrespectful of women in his public discourse? And accused of being a sexual predator at that?

On Trump's often unpredictable and erratic responses to her show:

Ms. Kelly writes that her problems started in August, the Monday before the first Republican presidential primary debate. She had just done a segment on her show, “The Kelly File,” that infuriated Mr. Trump. He refused to make his own scheduled appearance on her show unless she phoned him personally.

“I almost unleashed my beautiful Twitter account against you,” she says he told her, “and I still may.”

And then later:

As we all know, Mr. Trump did unleash his beautiful Twitter account on Ms. Kelly after that debate, and it threatened to upend her life. He called her “overrated,” “angry,” “crazy” and “a bimbo”; he went on CNN with Don Lemon, opposite her show’s time slot, and said there was blood coming out of Ms. Kelly’s eyes, “blood coming out of her … whatever.” (My favorite response to this: Katie Couric wrote Ms. Kelly a note asking: “Are you okay? Do you need some Tampax?”)

And the book also reveals another possible explanation for Trump's animosity toward Kelly:

Part of Mr. Trump’s response seemed like that of a man betrayed: Months before announcing his candidacy, he had tried hard to curry Ms. Kelly’s favor. He sent her notes, including an attagirl scrawled across her picture in The New York Times Magazine. (When Vanity Fair reported this, Mr. Trump denied it; Ms. Kelly includes proof, a picture.) Ms. Kelly and her husband declined an invitation to Mar-a-Lago, Mr. Trump’s fabled estate in Palm Beach, Fla. Then Mr. Trump tried, repeatedly and unsuccessfully, to persuade her to let him pick up the tab for the weekend she spent with two girlfriends at the Trump SoHo hotel.

“This is actually one of the untold stories of the 2016 campaign,” Ms. Kelly writes. “I was not the only journalist to whom Trump offered gifts clearly meant to shape coverage. Many reporters have told me that Trump worked hard to offer them something fabulous — from hotel rooms to rides on his 757.”

Well we all know how Trump responds when he is rejected by women.

However if this is accurate, and part of Trump's seemingly unrelenting irritation with Kelly had to do with her rejection of him, should we then assume that the hosts of the shows on which he regularly appears (Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, Joe Scarborough) accepted those bribes?

And where was Fox News head Roger Ailes during this time when one of his most popular anchors was under attack?

“Every time he started in,” Ms. Kelly writes of Mr. Trump, “I’d get a call from Roger (who was getting calls from Trump). Was I being fair to Trump? Was I being too hard on him? He felt the bar for skeptical Trump coverage should be higher.”

When Mr. Trump discharged his first round of spite tweets, Ms. Kelly’s husband, the novelist Douglas Brunt, demanded to know what Fox was going to do. “I told him the truth. ‘Nothing for now.’” Instead, the network tried appeasement. “Roger was talking to Trump daily,” she writes, “trying to calm him down.”

Personally I would think that, unless Fox News is about to go an entirely different direction, Megyn Kelly's chances of renewing her contract with the cable news station are somewhere between nil and "Are you fucking kidding me?"

But somehow I don't think that she will have much difficultly finding another job.

You know, as much as I don't like the fact that she is a Fox News talking head, I have to give her some respect here. Good for her to not stay silent.

No shit, Sherlock. Brilliant analysis there Megyn. Might have started thinking that just a teensy bit earlier than debate 1, for example:

Mentally unstable Donald J. Trump said

I am not surprised; the media practically gave Trump the election. Look at all the favorable airtime worth billions.

I think part of his “strategy” is to complain the media is rigged against him, to “hide” the fact they were working for him all along.

I wish we could all protest his administration by not paying our taxes. He doesn’t pay taxes, let the deporables pay the increases, they elected him.

I imagine they are going to have to wrestle his twitter account away from him soon, he hasn’t even been sworn in and I am already sick of him. How tacky is the inauguration going to be, will draft dodger Nugent provide the entertainment.

No. If what she's saying is true, we could assume only that he offered them stuff, too, not that they accepted it. But why are you highlighting her? Why would you believe her? She's as bad as Hannity. She's an inveterate supporter of the right wing. If the candidate had been Pence or Bush or Rubio, she'd have been gung ho behind them all the way. Our future:

...We must steel ourselves against the following electoral consequences:

    1. The repeal of Obamacare within the first 100 days of Trump's presidency with unclear prospects for a replacement program. I may lose my health insurance, and many of my friends certainly will along with more than 20 million Americans.

    2. The potential deportation of more than 11 million immigrants. While it is unlikely a serious attempt will be made to deport this full number (due to it being logistically impossible), hundreds or thousands of families will literally be torn apart by armed federal agents or soldiers. On US soil.

    3. Inaction on climate change, and an overt rejection of international climate agreements. The Northeast should get used to more hurricanes and blizzards, as well as annual droughts. The West should get used to perpetual drought and a shrinking agricultural sector. Florida, which went for Trump, should get used to losing a significant portion of its landmass.

    4. The overturn of Roe v. Wade, as soon as the right justices are installed and the right case comes to the bench. Many states will still have legal abortion, but just as many will not - say hello to an underground network of abortions for impoverished women, and more poverty in general.

    5. An explosion of the deficit and national debt, as absurd tax cuts for the rich are paired with an unnecessary increase in military spending. This will come as a nasty, although easily predictable, surprise to Trump's GOP supporters.

    6. The repeal of Common Core educational standards, setting many states far behind the rest of the world in terms of producing quality workers and citizens. This is a feature, not a bug - uneducated citizens are more likely to vote for demagogues.

    7. Inaction on criminal justice and gun control, and potentially the embrace of even harsher treatment of African Americans by police with the stop-and-frisk policies of an Attorney General Giuliani.

    8. Inaction on infrastructure development and modernization, an easily visible bellwether of our status as a nation.

    9. The stupid wall, which will never be finished, go way over budget, and be a perpetual boondoggle that hijacks our political conversation.

    10. A general state of diplomatic alarm among our allies and rivals alike. Risk of a war with Iran. Trade wars. A rise in Russian and Chinese imperialism. Too many other small consequences to list.

    11. Elimination of federal funding for Planned Parenthood, NPR, and other essential nonprofits. These organizations may survive in some form, but won't be able to provide the services they do today.

    12. The continued investigation and possible political imprisonment (!) of Hillary Clinton or others. Because we're a banana republic now.

Waking up terrified at 3am since Election Day

Like clockwork the last three mornings I have woken up at 3am, startled, heart racing, twisting around in my mind the implications of the election of full on wet dream Republican Government. For the President is wrong. Trump is no aberration in the Republican Party. He is the epitome of economic and political forces whose bad behavior these past 50 years has gone unpunished and undeterred and whose wealth and influence have grown continuously. The question is whether our system of governance has reached a tipping point from which our nation — and perhaps the world — cannot recover. For this time around there is no “last best hope for man” across the ocean that can come to our rescue.

The self congratulatory narrative of our culture masks the reality that forces inimical to democracy and the common weal have been emboldened and have now taken the reins of government at the national level. And through cooption of our elites and fear — just think of those 100 million weapons, many in the hand of militias, let alone zealous prosecutors and toady judges — these forces are very likely to succeed in driving our nation to decline and untold suffering.

Trump's life was wake up, do what he wanted to do, when he wanted to do wherever he wanted to do.

    Those days are over.

All he wants to do is get praised by the masses either by the Apprentice or putting his name on everything from buildings to steaks to bottled water to toilet paper.

Those days are over. He will for the next for years be booed wherever he goes. Something he hasn't experienced. He wants to be praised, not ridiculed.

In the past everything was his way. No more, those days are over.

Now as president he will love traveling to other countries on Air Force One the ultimate sign of power. He will love how the media will follow him all over, love all the state dinners in the White House and abroad.

But reality will strike him, he has to work everyday with little sleep and with lots of worries.

Worries like he doesn't want to look like a failure. Has to deliver everything he told the white people he would do and find out he will be unable to do it.

That is not Trump's world. He is not used to anybody telling him what he can't do.

Within his brain he is saying what the fuck did I do?

Trump is going to stifle the media, all good dictators do.

I can also see where he will try and get some law passed against protesting his administration. something on the order of the Patriot Act,when we were not allowed to criticize Bush.

He is a sociopath, he is not second guessing his decision, now that he won.

He is going to depend on his yes men to run things while he shows up for photo shoots. He hasn't even bothered to read any of the policy books he was given, maybe they aren't at a third grade level.

    4. Exactly.

The media will turn on him immediately. He doesn't have the power or the money to bribe or extort them into playing nice.

He will be criticized by main stream media, TV, newpapers, internet.

He will be the butt of late night TV (except for Fallon), Bill Maher, John Oliver, Samantha Bee and SNL will continue to ridicule him weekly.

Political cartoonists will have a field day.

There is nothing he can do to avoid it.

Even his beloved Twitter will turn against him with millions criticizing him and making fun on him.

      Melanoma won't be safe either.

I expect that girl on girl pussy grabbing photo will be used ad nauseum for the next four years. She might as well be invisible for the next four years as no one is going to take her seriously as the First Trollop and no one will pay any attention to her. Bullying? Really? Clean your own house first.

As with many of his ventures, Trump never thought beyond the instant gratification of the win. Never thought long term or of the consequences. That's why so many of his ventures have failed and he's had so many bankruptcies.

He'll bail on the presidency too. He won. So if he resigns, he's not a loser. Especially if he resigns to be a media mogul with his very own network. That would be winning in his mind.

The question is, would his kids and Kushner let him. I think they are more drunk on the power than he is.

I'm still pissed about Nancy O'Dell not stepping forward to say very directly that, yes, Trump tried forcing himself on her. And no woman with a daughter should feel okay if she could have stepped forward and didn't.

And I couldn't believe it when MK felt she had to tweet and say that she wasn't saying she'd been poisoned. It was the article writer implying it. Well, then why the hell did MK write what she did in her book? Anyone would interpret her words to mean that she had been poisoned. If she wasn't, then why did she include that info? She tweeted as if the article writer was so off in interpretation. Well, Kelly should have been able to see how it was going to be interpreted. She couldn't? Then she's not much of a thinker or writer. And if that bit of info was unimportant, why insist on including it? Maybe her tweet was to cover her butt in case it, but who knows.

I hope the sales aren't great on this book. She's playing head games.

Yes, Nancy O'Dell should also have reported what he did -- or didn't do -- instead of saying "no woman should be talked about this way" or whatever it was she said.

If he did it, her comment would have been so important. Proof would have been given.

If he didn't do it, she could have helped as well.

Oh, come to think of it -- her lack of saying he did not do it, would seem to me to be indicative that that he did do it. you know, listen not only to what is said, but what is not said. and, she did not say he did not do it. so, that is good enough for me to feel sure that he did. But, it is way too late for us now. So, I am back to -- Nancy O'Dell should have confirmed that he did try to get in her pants, just as he told Billy Bush he did. Shame on her!! Not only did she let down all of us, but she also let down all the women who were brave enough to come forward to report their experiences with him. (wonder when we will loose the right to write our opinions?)

Yes, agreed. And I understand that many people choose to stay private about things that happen to them, but that's regular women. O'Dell is a television person who has been on air for a long time and dealt with many different types of situations and how to speak to them. She could have handled it. And she could have given a real voice to the grievances of the other women--if she had spoken up, the other women would not have been disbelieved and trashed. I would not have expected her to say more after one statement of confirmation. I would not have expected her to become the face of a cause or anything like that. I do think, though, that she should have stood up for herself and all victims by being very direct in acknowledging that the rumor was not just a rumor.

Also, too photos of Ivanka (Olive Oyl) giving Daddy a lap dance. Oaul Ryan looked as though hw had been googling Mrs. tRump;s nude photos, the way he was smirking at her. Want to bet the whole group in DC have been passing around her naked photos? She is built like a 12 year old boy, with bought boobs. No feminine curves at all. Straight up and down.

Yes, I wish they would. And I'm feeling nasty. I went online looking to find merchandise showing Trump's head in cross hairs. I can't bring myself to wear a T-shirt with him on it--I'd feel violated--but I was hoping to find a big button that I could attach to my shoulder bag. I didn't find one so will have to make one. If it's okay for the GOP to use cross hairs, it's okay for me to.

Yes. They should actually start doing it now all over the nation. Someone with a lot of $$$ could pay for posters all along our freeways of her in her different states of undress. Including the latest/(newest?) picture I saw of her in a dress, where the top was see-through, and she wore no bra underneath - showing off her yuuuge nipples.

The only person on his list that isn’t establishment is Sarah Palin !!!! No surprise.
      -----------

      From Wash post article:
An organizational chart of Trump’s transition team shows it to be crawling with corporate lobbyists, representing such clients as Altria, Visa, Coca-Cola, General Electric, Verizon, HSBC, Pfizer, Dow Chemical, and Duke Energy. And K Street is positively salivating over all the new opportunities they’ll have to deliver goodies to their clients in the Trump era. Who could possibly have predicted such a thing?

The answer is, anyone who was paying attention. Look at the people Trump is considering for his Cabinet, and you won’t find any outside-the-box thinkers burning to work for the little guy. It’s a collection of Republican politicians and corporate plutocrats — not much different from who you’d find in any Republican administration.

After reading the article about Obamacare, I was thinking about the meeting between Obama and Traitor Trump.

It lasted 90 mins instead of 10, I wonder if it was because Obama had to explain to Traitor Trump how the government actually works.

I wonder if Obama went back to his quarters and had a good laugh (the guy is stupider than he thought) with Michelle or did he cry because we are in bigly trouble.

Trump will react to whoever spoke to him last. What he does in the US will be bad but what he does as far as the rest of the world will be far far worse.

I don't live in the US and I'm very concerned that he's going to create a disaster and possibly another war. Here's an insightful analysis of what could happen --

I'm a retiree and can't afford to wait out the stock markets like last time around for them to re-stabilize. Sold my US stocks yesterday and will wait for the Canadian markets to bounce back a bit and just invest in guaranteed investment certificates with known financial institutions. Better safe than sorry and at the very least I've stabilized my personal retirement savings.

When I was watching TV, the person there, can't recall who, said that the meeting had been scheduled for 1 hour and that Trump's remarks about thinking it'd last 10-15 minutes were peculiar--a lie. Trump knew it had been scheduled for an hour. He can never just tell the truth about anything.

Here's a Slate article on that supposed 10-15 meeting that Trump said was to have been just to meet each other.

As well, Slate quotes Trump's first remarks and includes that strange cutoff-sounding sentence about having respect for our Pres Obama.

Late last night I switched channels at a moment when there was what looked to be a preview moment of a CNN interview with Melania. It didn't look like an old pic. Her eyes were more outlined than ever and in very dark black. She looked horrible. And she was saying something about being told she was another Jackie Kennedy. She seemed to gloat about this and believe it to be true. I had to wonder if the person interviewing her, I think Anderson, mentioned it or if she just brought it up herself. Did anyone catch this, and was it a preview for an upcoming interview?

HA HA HA, she is no Jackie Kennedy that is for sure. Jackie was educated and she certainly never worked as an illegal alien, porn model.

I've been tortured lately remembering this line from a song sung by the Countess on Real Housewives of NY, "Money can't buy you class." She has a horrible voice and the song is silly, but that line is oh-so Trump family.

No Jackie Kennedy indeed. She was smart, well educated, classy and interesting. I'm pretty sure she never plagiarized anyone else's speeches either. Not even close - the media is messing with her and it's kind of funny that she thinks they're serious.

But Trump received some info. That is clear. Yes, it can be said that people in a debate should have expected pointed questions and there was the possibility that Trump would have been the first person Kelly addressed, but it's clear that someone was talking to Trump and sharing at least some info. And given all the buddy-buddyness between Fox/Ailes and Trump all the lying all these asses do, to me it'd be more surprising if Trump was not told things than if he were. Whatever amount of info he got, he was an ass on stage so it didn't help him. If anything, the orange freak had stewed and then lost it once on stage.
