Hillary Clinton now has more than one million more votes than Donald Trump.

Courtesy of The Hill:

Hillary Clinton has surpassed 1 million in her popular vote margin over President-elect Donald Trump, according to a Tuesday tally from the nonpartisan Cook Political Report.

Trump won the White House via the Electoral College a week ago, while the former secretary of State is now the fifth nominee in American history to win the popular vote but lose the presidency.

At first I was a little confused by this post because the numbers they used actually did now show Hillary ahead by a million.

However when I clicked this link it proved that she was indeed ahead 62,414,099 to 61,255,290, so yes she is comfortably ahead by well over a million votes.

Of course in our current system it doesn't mean anything. And no, signing petitions and arguing against the electoral system is not going to change that.

However it does provide a least some solace to those of us who voted based on reality, that the majority of American voters are not slack jawed simpletons who actually believed that Donald Trump would make a better president than Hillary Clinton.

Don't get me wrong, it still means that almost half of the Americans who bothered to vote probably can't tie their shoes without referring to the manual, but at least it's a little better.

You’re Not Alone: An Unconventional Outreach Effort, After Election Leaves Many in Fear

Half of the residents of these United States have been reeling after last week’s presidential election, and it’s not just sour grapes over winners and losers.

Two years of campaign rhetoric from president-elect Donald Trump, and a sizable helping of his surrogates and supporters (and now appointees), has targeted women, Muslims, African Americans, Mexicans, refugees, veterans with PTSD, sexual assault victims, the LGBTQ community, the Jewish community, among others. Whether it was just “locker room talk” without conviction or “telling it like it is,” his electoral win has left many minority communities in fear.

According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, a dramatic surge in reported hate crimes occurring across the country may have eclipsed the spike seen in the wake of 9/11 (more than 300 incidents since last Tuesday’s vote count), especially targeting (but definitely not limited to) Muslim Americans and African Americans. SPLC estimates there are currently 892 active hate groups active in the U.S., and Trump’s election seems to have galvanized them.

Whether or not one wishes to put the onus on the candidate, the fear is legitimate and the acts of vandalism and violence dotting the map validates that fear.

“Today I’m on a little bit of a rant,” co-host Whoopi Goldberg said at the top of the show. “Because it took me about seven hours to get to work this morning, because President-elect Donald Trump has his mid-town Manhattan apartment and it’s on permanent lockdown. 3 million votes were cast by illegals.

By the way why is no one talking about the fact that more undocumented people have been deported under Obama did anyone else? And the video of bill in the 90s saying the exact same thing as trump says on immigration. Except at this point trump just wants illegal criminals out.

Obama defends democracy, if not Trump

In Athens, the professor-president delivered a dizzying civics lesson during his last major speech on the world stage.

That’s the trouble with democracy, President Barack Obama said here Wednesday: Sometimes Donald Trump wins.

But that’s also the good thing about democracy, Obama insisted: Trump won’t win in the end.

Summoning the founding ideals of democracy here in the Greek capital — he’d just returned from a tour of the Acropolis — Obama’s final major speech on the world stage as president tried to connect history to the future, a zigzagging line he said should prevail, despite the threat he suggested it’s now facing at home and in Europe.

The arc of the moral universe is long but it bends toward justice, he said, using his favorite Martin Luther King Jr. quote. But the arc of the moral universe hit a snag.

“This impulse to pull back from a global world is understandable. If people feel they are losing control of their future, they will push back,” Obama said.

But the answer, Obama argued, is less make America great again than make America — and the rest of the world — greater than they ever were: “We can’t look backwards for answers, we have to look forward.”

If you google something like "wisconsin college students vote," you'll see articles about how Scott Walker has made it harder for students, as well as the poor and minorities in WI, to vote and that many people were turned away from the polls. Any criticism of her aside, Hillary should have had the state.

“I felt threatened,” she said. “I was shocked. And I was waiting to be stabbed just for the fact that I was wearing my headscarf.”

Basatneh said she remained in her seat, trying not to betray her fear, but none of the other patients intervened.

“There were about 20 people in that room, and everyone just carried on their normal conversations as if nothing happened,” she said. “That is scary — that is scarier than the fact that he took out that weapon. The people around us are not saying much.”

The popular vote difference is meaningless in an electoral vote system because the campaign strategy would have been different. Trump would have spent more time campaigning in places like California and Illinois that under the electoral vote system are almost a guaranteed done deal for he Democratic candidate. But Clinton fans just have to be able to spike the ball on something/someone. So if it gets you through the night, it's alright, it's alright. Just don't kid yourself into believing if we had a popular vote system Clinton would be the president elect right now, because that's something we can never know.

I'll probably catch flak for this, but your last sentence, Gryphen, is one of the reasons that we have the president-elect that we do. A lot of the voters who didn't vote for Mrs. Clinton did so for real reasons, and not in support of the guy I can't even name, it tastes so bad. Until we stop jeering at eachother, and enjoying the "other side's" pain and anguish, and summing people up in labeled boxes, we are never going to be more than two competing sides. Better to stop jeering, be polite, and work to find ways to keep the horrors from happening.

What Donald Trump’s Victory Means For Men

...I’m in a state of exuberance that we now have a President who rates women on a 1-10 scale in the same way that we do and evaluates women by their appearance and feminine attitude. We may have to institute a new feature called “Would Trump bang?” to signify the importance of feminine beauty ideals that cultivate effort and class above sloth and vulgarity. Simply look at his wife and the beautiful women he has surrounded himself with to remind yourself of what men everywhere prefer, and not the “beauty at every size” sewage that has been pushed down our throats by gender studies professors and corporations trying to market their product to feminist fatsoes. The President of the United States does not see the value in fat women who don’t take care of themselves, and neither should you.

Again, the problem is with the artificial cap of 435 representatives. If that cap was not in place, different states would have a closer representative-to-citizen ratio--for instance, if we used the population of Wyoming as the basis for the ratio of reps-to-citizen (one rep for every 586000 people) then California would have 13 more reps, and thus 13 more electoral votes.

Thanks. I'm glad to have this info! Man, I miss Countdown. But at least there's Lawrence O'Donnell's Last Word.

There is a painting by the artist Francis
Bacon called "The Screaming Pope". It is a
    study after Velazquez's 1953 Painting.
Now Francis Bacon had nothing against
Popes, plus the message was one of
social injustice. But just take a look.
Mouth wide open, manic face, purple robe
and the gold type grid he is encased in.
When I look at that image, I see p.p-
grabber encased in his gold, gilded
Trump Tower, royal purple tie and privatly
screaming from fear of the now reality
of his life. I do hope you all will give
it a look. The image is a perfect Trump
    metaphor.

Said Whoopie was mad because it took her
so long to get to work because of all of
the closed roads around Trump Tower
and his refusal to stay in the White House.
It wouldn't bother me. Much more difficult
for the secret service to protect him
    isn't it!

  44. That's a google doc. Exactly how reliable is that?

    I use:

    http://www.cnn.com/election/results/president

The only news source I could find.

Trump was saved by sweet little old ugly Kelly annie with the flat fanny. She has the jaws of a barracuda and the bug eyes of a nat. The "Woman" rates below 5 in trump foundation but managed to con way her employer to the top temporarily. It is no wonder why she is there. And it is sick that she would do that to America. And even worst to women and children. Evil skanks suck nasty swamp water.

This is like one big giant orgy on an island of deplorable people in an xxx rated porn flick. A spy porn thriller. Like espionage. Like making bad good. Like making insanity fad. Like mental illness is norm and dump is in. Even Steven King could not write this chit. It is just classless tasteless garbage.
