Let's end the day with President Obama's final turkey pardon.

Clearly the President just had no more fucks to give, and is having himself a blast these final weeks of his presidency.

You have to admit those were some bad puns.

But damn am I going to miss hearing them next year.

Cute. Sweet. And the Pres is cool even when making bad puns.

Next year will be so different.

Brave little boys petting the turkey. When Trump pardons his first turkey, it will bring on a flashback of that eagle going after his hand and he'll probably make a fool of himself.

He may even accidentally pardon himself, given that wattle of his.

    1. Providing Trump actually makes it to Thanksgiving as president, if he does it at all, he'll only pardon one turkey and he won't get near it. Certainly not touch it. But I expect he'll think it's stupid and makes him look ridiculous and will dodge it. Pence will end up doing that and everything else that Trump considers undignified or a shit job.

Yes, they were adorable, and how very cool that their uncle included them.

In the struggle for women to be seen as equals, just remember women are treated like lesser beings every time a film with female nudity is rated R and one with full frontal men is NC17.

I watched the Medal of Freedom ceremony yesterday and the turkey pardon today and man oh man, Barack Obama is a great man. It's sad to think of the things that could have been accomplished in the past 8 years for America and Americans had the Republicans worked with him instead of against him from the day he took office. I cried during the ceremony yesterday and laughed today at his bad jokes and his gentle manner with those two boys. I think I'm in the first stage of grieving for your country.

    Sad Canuck

You're not alone. By a long shot.

Yeah, there's so much we'll miss. I loved that medal ceremony yesterday and seeing his smile keep suddenly crossing his face as he spoke. And I loved that tidbit about one recipient having been, as far as BO said he knew, the only one present there in the WH when on his first date with MO, when the three crossed paths at a movie theater. Then the camera panned to MO and she was laughing. So cute.

  10. Huffpo has reminded us all of Sarah Palin's botched pardon. Such a contrast to the real thing.

"Although her office later denied that she’d known what was playing out behind her, Palin was reportedly asked if she wanted that particular backdrop for her interview, to which she replied, “No worries.” "

      Why regurgitate Thanksgiving Eve?
Save it for an overstuffed gut tomorrow.
Bile in its purest form is Le Palin.

We all know that trump's administration and policies will be a disaster, but watching President Obama at these events highlights that nothing about the presidency will ever be the same.

There is so much I will miss. Does anyone think it will be worthwhile watching the Kennedy Center Honors or the White High Press Association dinner, the Easter Egg roll, the lighting of the Christmas tree or any other event with trump in charge. I certainly won't be paying attention anymore.

We always enjoyed the HGTV series on decorating the White House for Christmas these past 8 years. The Obamas have a wonderful sense of style and the White House Christmas season is celebrated with a true sense of joy. I can't even imagine imagine Melania carrying this on.

The prestige of the presidency has been permanently destroyed and no one will respect the office at this point. The president is usually the patron of the arts, but I can't see trump taking any of this seriously.

God, I miss President Obama already!!

I think it has been temporarily destroyed, not permanently.

Americans are strong and we will survive trump, maybe even destroy him before he destroys us.

Maybe, but Trump will always be in the history books. And the precedent has been set fr any ignoramus to be successfully elected president. Given how riled up the stupid of the right wing have demonstrated they can become, this won't be the last time. The village idiots have demonstrated they have the power to make their presence known.

I think Obama has a few more surprises up his sleeve; he is waiting for congress to get out of town first.

  14. That Tot was quite a personable turkey. You can tell they not only chose well but worked with him quite a bit.

I do wish they would include some heritage breeds from organic and humane farms and not just the factory bred turkeys. Tater and Tot will die early deaths due to that breeding. Pardoning a heritage breed might encourage more people to support the family farms that raise them.

For a taste of things to come:
Read Gail Collins' op-ed piece in Thursday's NYTimes.
She recounts how she once wrote that Donald Trump was a "thousandaire."
He did not take that joke lying down, no sirree!
He sent her a letter that said she was a dog and a liar with a face like a pig.
That, friends, is a man who was off his meds or, as Peggy Noonan wrote in a 1994 book, after she looked into his eyes: This man is crazy.

I love the man's sense of humor! Conservatives don't do humor--they go for cruelty disguised as humor.

I'm going to miss having him at the helm. America has gained the world's respect because of him and his hard work. I sooooo hope a book of Souza's photos gets published.
