Melania Trump threatens to sue over video suggesting that her son has autism. Update!

Courtesy of TMZ:

Melania Trump has hired a famous lawyer who is now threatening a lawsuit over a video suggesting her 10-year-old son, Barron, is autistic, and the letter calls out Rosie O'Donnell as a bully.

According to the letter, obtained by TMZ, the YouTube video falsely insinuates Barron is autistic. The letter, and our sources familiar with the situation, say Barron absolutely is not autistic.

This is the Rosie O'Donnell tweet that has angered Frau Trump.
The letter says, "The video allegedly seeks to 'stop the bullying' of Barron Trump. Not true ... The video did instigate further bullying by Rosie O'Donnell and others."

The video lists a number of signs it claims points to autism, including Barron clapping without slapping his hands together. Melania's attorney, Charles J. Harder, says Barron did this once -- at the end of a long day at the RNC -- but the "vast majority of the time, he claps normally."

The "vast majority of the time, he claps normally?" Seriously?

Okay well here's the thing.

I also came out and stated that you cannot diagnose autism from a video, because you know what, you can't.  And to make these accusations without real proof is fairly nasty.

However by coming out like this publicly, and actually threatening to sue, Melania kind of gives it extra credibility.

Now I am not saying that the little Trump padawan is actually autistic or has any other mental development issues (Though with The Donald as his dad it is hard to think otherwise.), I am simply suggesting that by addressing this, and then threatening legal action, Melania is pushing this into a more public sphere and ensuring that this video is seen by many, many more people.

What is more, if the makers of the video call her bluff, and force her to take them to court, that might further embarrass the Trump family and this innocent child.

Oh and I almost forgot. This is going to be the First Family, and this is NOT how the First Family solves their problems.

Well, at least it didn't use to be.

Update: Well it looks like Melania won this one:

Melania Trump just got what she was after ... the man who posted the YouTube video suggesting Barron had autism is taking the video down.

The guy who posted the video says, "TMZ just contacted me to tell me Melania Trump is threatening a lawsuit over this video ... I never ever meant this as a bullying video."

It appears that Rosie O'Donnell also took down her tweet which is why it will not display properly above.

However if Melania thinks this video is gone forever, she really does not understand the internet.

Rosie may have been out of line, but I have three autistic grandsons. dRumpf himself said he had to explain that "Daddy is now president" and what that means very explicitly. Any ten-year-old I know already knows what it means.

In other news Melania, I saw on national news this morning that her Slovenian hometown is preparing for the onslaught of tourism because "everyone" will want to see where the new FLOTUS was born and raised. hahahaha

I don't think Rosie was out of line at all and she isn't the first person to bring it up. I too think Baron is autistic. By the mannerisms he has used the few times he has been on stage with the family it seems he is autistic. If so, so what? What is there to hide about a child having such an issue? Hell, most of the software engineers I know obviously have autism.

One does have to speak a certain way to special needs children and they still might not understand. Whether he is or not, he has the most vacant eyes I've ever seen in a child that age.

Sue away, Melania. It will never happen, like your husband-in-name only's tax records' unveiling. Like anytime the putrid Palins threatened to sue. Nope! NADA.

It's been over a week since I watched the video and I do think it is foolish to try to diagnose him from that. Also, the fact that Donald mentioned that Barron is good with computers means nothing. What ten year old these days is not good with computers, especially with the financial advantages that Barron has?! The other poster is correct - he does have very vacant looking eyes.

I don't like the idea of using a child this way BUT Barron wasn't called a "dog" or an "ape". That would have been this Republicans referring to Clinton and Obama children. None of this will stop in a widespread fashion until Republicans are forced to answer for their own misdeeds. Taking the high road is a big factor in losing the election.

    6. Maybe Barron isn't autistic.

Maybe it's Ausberger's. Trump said Barron is a whiz at computers.

If he does have a challenge, it is a disservice all around to deny and hide it.

If Melania was smart, she would come clean and make whatever it is her crusade. With a husband like Don the Con, trying to champion bullies just makes her look like a hypocrite or simply clueless.

Why run for president if the Trump family will be constantly suing people? If you don't want to be in the public's eyes then come out and say our privacy is more important than Donald's quest to be the most powerful man in the world and for the privacy of our family, Donald will step aside.

Great picture of Melania - that woman is some kind of ugly.

I hope they do sue and that will make Little Lord Trump's medical records public, among other revealing info. Normally I dislike using children in political fights but after the way Amy Carter, Chelsea Clinton and the Obama girls have been treated, it is time to fight the Republicans using a language they understand.

YES, Chelsea, Amy and Obama girls were trashed in the meanest possible way by "respectable" (for Republicans) sources like Limbaugh with no retort by their families.

I thought Trump's child was on the spectrum from my first view of him. I have a brother afflicted and I know it's nothing to be ashamed of and the family could do a lot of good as an advocate. But no, they are perfect people with no genetic (ESPECIALLY genetic) flaws.

They will never release medical records. Trump hasn't. Nor taxes. Nor business dealings that collide with his new job. People who think the Obama Admin was secretive ain't seen nothing yet. "The President cannot have conflicts of interest. The Constitution is very clear." That is terrifying!

So, they're being assholes, so we should too. What a stupid argument. They are under age. Why should they have to take the brunt of our insensitivity? If the right decides to behave like assholes toward the under aged children of politicians, then we should be just as cold-hearted?

    6. Anonymous6:33 PM

I understand your point 5:49, but I really don't think that suggesting that the youngest trump has Asperger's is "going low". I don't know how anyone can pretend to not notice that the kid is either on the spectrum or is indeed a very special snowflake who can't seem to process the reality he is in.

I don't think it is a slam or a criticism to note his possible autistic condition. Many brilliant people are known to be "on the spectrum" and it is nothing to be ashamed of. For the public to register curiosity about it is in no way comparable to the really disgusting things that Republicans have said about the progeny of Democrats...which are mostly based on physical appearance, not behavior.

I appreciate what Michelle said, but I think there is a point at which your "going high" goes way over the head of those who need correcting.

WHY did The Donald and Melania put this child next to Trump during this long and uninteresting speech, which would have meant nothing to this child.

WHY wasn't Melania standing next to her husband as he gave his acceptance speech? In nearly all screen shots, she wasn't even visible. But the uncomfortable boy was front and center.

Melania should have been standing by her "man" and holding Bannon's hand, giving him occasional hand squeezes, hugs, or kisses. That would be normal. What we saw was not normal.

I personally think Donald has some mental issues, like ADHD that as never diagnosed, because back then, the rich folk just pulled the overactive boy out of school and sent him to military school. Barron does seem a bit weird, but look at his half-brothers. Dead eyes all of them.
As far as 'explaining to him what a President does,' I was with my 7 years old grandson last week, and we had quite a discussion about the election. He has a friend who cried when Hillary lost, and I said that I had too. He cannot stand Trump, and said "Maybe kids should be able to vote." I said, '"Sure." He came back with, "But that wouldn't make a difference, because most kids don't know what they'd be voting for, and they would just vote for who their parents told them to." I'll take my Logan over bereft Barron any day.
And yes, Melania is quite ugly. Inside and out. Must be tough pretending to adore a serial cheater, liar, and con man. Hope she is being well-compensated for her surgeries and tight dresses. Anyone seen the creepy family photo of Barron and Trump in suits, and Mommy Dearest behind Barron in some dress with half her cleavage hanging out? I swear I think a lot of white men voted for him because of her nude photos.

Donald Trump's Dad died from Alzheimer's disease. I wouldn't be shocked to hear he has the beginnings of it himself. He repeats the same things in his speeches over and over again and adds nothing new. He reads some of his speeches and doesn't do that well either. Plus, he never adds thoughts of those speeches into his yakkity yak!

60 Minutes did a special on Alzheimer's this past Sunday. The Donald should have watched it! Between being 70 and showing some evidence of dementia - Alzheimer's is also on his horizon.

Donald Trump is NOT someone we want serving even six months as potus. He's mentally off and it's apparent each and every day.

Between Alzheimer's and Autism - it's past time he admit the problems to himseld. He's 70 years old, has a horrid ego problem and has weak sperm which most likely created the autism in his kid!

She lived with a photographer made trips home to update that visa for a year, and finally got a green card. She somehow miraculously became a citizen in five short years after Donnie saw her and started sleeping with her while married. She's a fraud and a cheat like he is. Big surprise. Our first family is a bunch of rich cheats. Way to go, America.

It is quite obvious to my trained eye that Barron is getting the very BEST therapies money can buy and he is doing well with them. Watch him "center himself" when he is feeling overwhelmed. First he gets a paniced look in his eyes, then his eyes dart a bit and he takes a big gulping breath and can process more calmly. He has had a lot of therapy. And perhaps Melanomia is responsible for how well he does and if so, kudos to her. Unlike Palin, she seems to have a nurturing instince, like most wolves.

Way to miss the point. It has nothing to do with your opinion, whether you have one or not.

The spectrum for autism is very broad, and many people in the general population have symptoms and live their lives undiagnosed and they do well in life.

It was not an attack on the readers of this site, it was an observation of the autism spectrum and the general population.

But your last point is opinion. I don't think Barron will do 'just fine' at all. He looks to have no personality, and when he's 22 and ready to jump into the family grift, what will he have to offer? He'll never need cash, but what will he do with his entitled self when he can't relate to people?

Donald Trump's youngest son Barron Trump might be autistic, and it's time for people to stop bullying him for his "strange" behavior. Let's follow Melania Trump and #StopTheBullying.

      ➳ NOVEMBER 27 UPDATE

I want to clear a few things up:

      1) Yes, I myself am on the spectrum, and I made this because I instantly noticed the symptoms I had as a kid in Barron. I saw social media bullying him, and I wanted people to STOP and understand what he's going through.

      2) This video is NOT meant to fuel the theory that vaccines cause autism. I'm simply trying to explain WHY Trump might believe in this theory.

      3) I'm aware Rosie O’Donnell has been getting criticised for sharing this video. I'm sending a million prayers to her and her beautiful family, and I really wish the media would stop attacking her for wanting to learn.

      ➳ NOVEMBER 28 UDPATE

TMZ just contacted me to tell me Melania Trump is threatening a lawsuit over this video, and wants a public apology from me. I'm absolutely terrified right now, and I'm not sure if this is actually true or not.

I just want to repeat myself and say that I never ever meant this as a bullying video. As someone who was diagnosed at age 5 and has gone through bullying myself, I would NEVER do something like that. I made this because I truly believed Barron was on the spectrum, and I wanted people to stop bullying him over his "weird" behavior and explain to them that it might actually be due to a condition.

If this rumor turns out to be true, and Ms.Trump really wants this video deleted, I will. I have a great respect for her and her family. I never meant to hurt anyone.

Although I do not think that people should comment on a child who has done nothing more than stand there and innocently clap..............not like the Palin family who literally beg to have their badly behaved children commented upon, then act outraged when they get what they want............

It does seem kind of ironic that Donald Trump's family is the one being talked about. First, there's the fact that Trump is the biggest cyber bully on the planet, then the fact that he promotes "the fake news" on an almost daily basis. The difference is that the Trumps are ever so happy to involve themselves with endless lawsuits, etc., but the rest of the world doesn't enjoy that so much. I guess if you don't always plan to pay your lawyers, hiring them isn't such a big deal!

I hate Donald Trump, but the comments below have nothing to do with that.

I have no idea, of course, if Barron is autistic. I do teach kids between the ages of nine and thirteen, and I can say that my youngest kids would know what daddy's running for president meant, and they have often moved and/or changed schools and handled it well. They are kids and so in ways are awkward, but they don’t come across as Barron does.

He seems glazed over and I’ve never seen him initiate conversation with his loved ones when they’re hanging out at an event, and I’ve seen them say things to him and Barron not ever say something back. And I’ve never seen him laugh with them. They can all be cracking up and as happy as can be, and he’ll remain unchanged. It could be said that he’s actually very well behaved and knows to be this way in public, his dad and mom have trained him to be this way, but there is no spontaneity even in moments when it’s made very clear by his siblings and others that laughing is absolutely okay. He seems deadened to me. But who knows what I’d see if I saw him in a typical kid’s-life situation.

Maybe he just feels like a little fish out of water being a young Trump. But the other Trump children would laugh and smile for pics when small and pose and look as if they were very happy with life. He doesn’t smile. I’ve seen probably two pics of him with a very slight upturn to his mouth, and I do recall once seeing his teeth. In pics of him as a toddler he does look like a typical happy little one. He doesn’t really engage and rarely makes eye contact. There’s been a slight smile a couple times when Tiffany or his mom have embraced him. But he usually looks around with no expression on his face and his expression doesn’t match up, like I say, with that of people around him who are having a good time. I could see if that happened at times, but it has happened every time I’ve seen him with people.

I’m assuming that sometime over the next four years we’ll see him in a regular social situation with his peers and maybe then we’ll know if anything’s really off. We've not heard him talk or seen him playing (except, like, to go around in a golf cart with his father), and we've not seen him at a party or ballgame or place where kids laugh and joke around, etc. We've seen him in all sorts of situations related to the election and walking around NYC with Melania protective of him or, again, sitting in a golf cart. And we've seen him pose for photos and magazine spreads and sitting on top a giant stuffed animal. So, we’ve not yet seen how he acts in casual situations and when he’s not thinking about a camera on him. Over the next years, though, even while the camera will be on him we know that the First Children do reveal their personalities and speak now and then, so we get a sense of who they are. Even the shier ones come across as kids being kids. I wonder what we’ll see of Barron.

There is now a pic of Barron at Hollywood Life that shows him posing in a puffy jacket and holding a pair of sunglasses and smiling at the camera. And TMZ has pics, from a distance and blurry, of Barron on a play date during Thanksgiving. A few kids and adults are there. No idea who they are, if the parents and kids are from NYC and flew down to Mar a Lago or if they are children of people who work at the FLA place for Trump. Can't tell much of plaything from the pics, but it is the first time I've ever seen Barron walking among other children. Good to see it.

Depending on here he is on the spectrum, autistics CAN'T read social clues - that's hy he is laughing or smiling spontaneously. Watch - when he catche on that others are clapping he will, but he isn't processing anything that demands social awareness.

I'm not going to speak to the autism rumor. I have been around very wealthy families and in my experience even a ten year old has a knack for social graces, like looking you in the eye and shaking your hand. I'm just saying... I believe this is because a lot of wealthy people socialize in many important circles and their children learn at an early age proper deportment. I know all kids are different but my initial impression of Barron, even before this whole question came up, was that he didn't seem to portray the usual rich kid charisma.

"Romney is having dinner with the President elect on Tuesday night. While Trump, a former reality show star, has said that he likes that Romney looks the part, it is thanks to Jared Kushner that he’s still in the mix. Kushner, who is married to Ivanka Trump, favors Romney for the job. His opinion carries extra weight for this nomination because Trump has already suggested in an interview with the New York Times that Kushner could be tasked with making peace between the Palestinians and Israelis. Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani has been openly campaigning for the job and is seemingly owed some kind of position for endorsing Trump earlier than most, but has not succeeded in securing the nomination. Kushner, who seems to have Trump’s ear, has pushed back against his nomination over fears that Giuliani’s international business dealings would make the confirmation process contentious.

A dark horse in the race may yet win the sweepstakes for Secretary of State. Disgraced General David Petraeus talked with Trump at Trump Tower for an hour on Monday. The general’s selection seems unlikely due to his guilty plea over the mishandling of classified information. It would also prompt charges of hypocrisy since Trump led chants of “Lock Her Up” on the campaign trail over Hillary Clinton’s mishandling of classified information with her private email server. Senator Bob Corker, who is chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, will arrive at Trump Tower on Tuesday to talk about the position with the President-elect. Former UN ambassador John Bolton seems to have lost his earlier momentum for the job."

  52. How many of you Americans don't own property? Well, sucks to be you. Steve Bannon has no problem with denying the vote to anyone that doesn't own property.

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/bannon-landowners-voting_us_583c7e19e4b09b6056017ffc?rf9x8nrxxjzzd7vi

"Steve Bannon, chief strategist and senior counselor to President-elect Donald Trump, allegedly told a friend that he didn’t see an issue with fewer black people being able to vote.

Julia Jones, a screenwriter who had a working relationship with Bannon, told The New York Times on Sunday that the chief executive of Breitbart News would discuss the genetic superiority of certain people and expressed that perhaps it wouldn’t be bad to disenfranchise people who didn’t own property.

“I said, ‘That would exclude a lot of African-Americans,’” Ms. Jones recalled. “He said, ‘Maybe that’s not such a bad thing.’ I said, ‘But what about Wendy?’” referring to Mr. Bannon’s executive assistant. “He said, ‘She’s different. She’s family.’”
Allowing only property owners to vote wouldn’t just disenfranchise black people. It would also limit the rights of Latinos, poor people, students and two-thirds of the U.S. population."

I guess he isn't aware that there are blacks, hispanics, asians, Muslims, Jews, LGBTQ and WOMEN that own property and there are whites that DON'T.

Of course his next step would be to legislate that only white males can own property.

Have I mentioned lately that Steve Bannon is a NAZI!

Hmmm, does that mean the the dRUMPfs get multiple votes? One for each property they "own"? That would seems to be aligned with cheeto jebuss's way of thinking.

She may need to demand payment.

  58. My first impression of Barron, on election night, was that he was giddy with exhaustion and should have been home in bed. Blank stares, uncertain stance, and little response to anything = child pushed beyond his capacity to process his environment and respond appropriately.

Others videos look odd, as when he shrugs off touches from his father and from Mike Pence. Still within normal limits. It's okay to be sullen and unwilling to exchange mutually supportive touches in these circumstance, and at that hour.

Barron may legitimately need to continue with his present schooling, particularly if he has special needs of any kind. His family is the authority on what he needs. It will be helpful if they can explain to the American public why Barron will need the exception of schooling near his 5th Avenue home, as opposed to any schooling he might benefit from nearer to the White House. This is important because of the dollar value involved in providing security for the kid and his mom to keep living in Trump Tower, with a whole floor of Secret Service Agents in tow.

The agents would be housed according to rental fees payable to Donald Trump, owner of the building. This is starting to make no sense. Like all things Trump, he thinks he can set a new standard for anything and everything around his upcoming term as President.

Trump shows love and concern for his youngest son. What I wish for Barron is that he can be excused from the spotlight and allowed to fulfill his educational and occupational interests without breaking the bank and exceeding the usual budget allowed for a child of the President-Elect. His mother Melania and father Donald Trump have indicated they see his potential, and no doubt they will provide for his needs, whatever they may be, to maximize his development into a fulfilled young man.

I don't see that Drumpf shows anything like love, concern, or warmth for his youngest son. He overlooks him, and tries hard to not let that show. He had waaay more to do with the kids from Ivanka and Marla than this wife's kid.

The kid does not seem typical, even for a kid from his tax bracket. There is something different about this boy, and it's not that Donnie Tiny Hands is his dad.
He's been very much more sheltered than even Tiffany Trump. No, it'll come out that the boy has special needs, and there's nothing wrong with that except in Donnie's perfect world.

I've read that the child was sound asleep when he was wakened to "join the party" on Election Night. They should have left him alone, especially since Trump himself admitted later on the Today Show that he had been trying to explain "Daddy's" new position to his ten year-old son. It doesn't sound like "Daddy" was completely successful in explaining the changes that will be occurring in their family's life.

That video is painful to watch. I honestly feel sorry for Barron, and that stands whether or not he has any condition whatsoever.

I recently spent a week with my grandsons at the farm and we spent the entire time outside playing in the dirt piles and farm fields. It was so much fun and I would bet my last dollar that this young boy has never experienced pure joy such as that.

Ps... I just don't get all the comments about how beautiful Melania is. I have never been a fan of the fake mannequin look.
