No Hillary Clinton was NOT a flawed candidate, and NO she did not lose this election.

Before this election season started, right when I first heard murmurings that Hillary Clinton was going to throw her hat into the ring, I thought oh well that's it nobody else will really have a chance at the nomination with her in the race.

I also knew that I would vote for her but that I would never feel inspired by her or think she was the best candidate for the job.

On those last two points I was dead wrong.

At the end of the 2008 nomination process I was very unhappy with Hillary Clinton, for the same reasons that I was unhappy with Bernie Sanders during this nomination cycle.

In my opinion there is a point when a candidate running for the nomination should recognize that continuing to fight for the position, does nothing to help them reach that goal, but it does a lot to hurt their opponent in the general election.

I thought that in 2008 Hillary passed that point of no return and that her stubbornness was going to help the Republicans and damage Obama's chances, and I was pissed!

But then she finally realized that it was over, and in the end came out hard to help her former rival rally the Democrats to his side and even pleaded with her former supporters to put their hard feelings aside and vote for him.

And they did.

So like I said I supported her run for the nomination this time around, as well as her candidacy in the general election, but sometimes my support felt a little pedestrian, like I was just going through the motions.

But then I saw her spend those 11 hours testifying in front of that Republican led Benghazi witch hunt, and that may have been the first time that I realized what a badass she was!

And my support went from tepid, to full speed ahead.

I remember thinking to myself THAT is the person I want standing up for this country and facing down dictators, terrorist leaders, and that smug Vladimir Putin guy.

But do you know who did not want to see her in that role?

That Vladimir Putin guy.

Did you ever notice who the Russians targeted in their hacks?

The State Department, the White House, the DNC, the Clinton campaign, Clinton campaign manager John Podesta.

Does it seem to you that they were looking for something in particular?

They were, they were looking for Hillary Clinton's e-mails.

But they couldn't find the majority of them, do you know why?

Because she had a fucking private server, and they could not gain access, that's why.

The very thing that the Republicans vilified her for, was the very thing that protected her from foreign hackers getting their hands on sensitive information that they could feed to Wikileaks and then leak to our overzealous media.

At this point one of you anti-Hillary mouth breathers are going to argue that we don't KNOW that Hillary's private server was never hacked, but yes we do.

Do you know HOW we know?

Because nothing on it, that she did not volunteer during the witch hunt, ever appeared in a Wikileaks data dump. And if they had anything from a hack there is no way we would not have seen it by now.

Hillary Clinton knew what she was up against and she made a decision to protect herself, and for the most part it worked.

So instead the Russians hacked everyone around her, and their American counterparts, the Republicans, launched investigation after investigation to undermine her credibility and hopefully damage her chances of winning the White House.

In the end they both fell short.

Hillary was still leading in the polls, and even though they had chipped away at her lead and severely damaged her reputation it looked like she was going to walk away with this election.

So plan B was implemented.

James Comey sent a letter to Congress knowing full well that it would immediately be leaked to the press.

In the end yes she lost the election, but she STILL managed to win the popular vote.

After all of those unrelenting, unprecedented, and totally unfair attacks she still won the majority of support from the American people.

Was she a flawed candidate?

Fuck no! A flawed candidate does not require an entire foreign nation, a national political party, a law enforcement agency, and a group of faceless hackers to take them down.

She was also NOT a criminal, NOT emotionless robot, and NOT a fucking liar.

Remember this?

Hillary Clinton is a goddamn super hero. And she would have been the hero that this country needed desperately.

So if you voted for Hillary Clinton do not buy into the lie that she was a flawed candidate. NO candidate could have survived better in the face of that kind of opposition. Not even Barack Obama.

The media is currently creating a narrative about how Clinton's campaign stumbled because it failed to attract support from rural voters, and did not have a plan for those still suffering in this economy, but that is not the case.

The facts are that Hillary Clinton was TOO good of a candidate, and that is why it required so much to finally take this election away from her.

Hillary Clinton did not lose this election, but the American people did.

Get out of your bubble. Yes she lost the election. She was wayyy more qualified than trump but the dems and especially the DNC chair DWS didn't listen to the people. DWS was more concerned of electing the 1st female President than electing the best candidate. I don't think Bernie would have defeated Trump but Biden would have.

It really only matters for certain people and the rest of us will be fine. It's another 8 years of terribleness for certain folks, but just like during W, many of those that voted for him suffered the worst.

4-8 years of bad governance, we've been there, and most of us are still okay and we will survive this as well. Tune out, it really is the healthiest alternative.

Much as I like and admire Joe Biden and think he was the best vice president ever, I truly believe that the untimely death of his son took much of the wind from his sails. I clearly understand why he decided not to enter the race. He has family members, especially grandchildren, who need him.

I like Hillary. And Joe. I never thought Joe was going to run...until suddenly it was being talked about. This, that he wasn't interested, was always said by the media, and I mean by usually reliable sources. What I read and saw of him on TV gave me the distinct impression he would be done with the WH as far as a presidential ticket went when he and Obama left. His son died and it was then also time to make up his mind. What a burden, that need to decide at such a moment. He had lately shown interest. I think he and Hillary, if the timing and circumstances were different, would have made for a fantastic ticket, with Joe for pres and Hillary for veep. And I could see Joe only wanting one term, and then Hillary could run four years later. This was the scenario I had hoped for at one point and then thought would not happen, including with Joe possibly being willing to be veep once again. I really liked Hillary's veep pick. I think they're all great Dems.

It's a joke how some people are just castigating her and acting as if she has no good qualities. She was a good candidate and in many ways a great candidate. There are a variety of places where blame belongs, but it's not all on her.

This extreme blame that I'm hearing all over the place kills me. She worked her ass off and reached a lot of people and did have a message--but people need spoon feeding and hand holding and can't be bothered to really listen and process what they've just heard/read, and they can't be bothered to learn enough things on their own and now depend on a candidate to be their 24/7 nanny. I think one of her big mistakes was trusting in the intelligence of people and that they could see deep enough into her policies and see all the there that was there. The complaints about her not having a message and so on are so exaggerated. We had known what she stood for for years. What she cared about didn't change dramatically since 2008, except to be even more important to her. And we know what she did as a supporter of Obama. People could see the differences between Hillary and Trump and they had tons of info on her and could have taken the time to reacquaint themselves with her policies. She could have gone into small towns more, sure, but all in all the info was right there for the public.

Chris Matthews brought up the point about people knowing who she was back then and now. His panel suggested that she now seemed too involved with the lobbyist class, but anyone who really read and listened knew better. CM seemed to get that some voters’ attitude could have changed, but it made no sense to him that so many people who had voted for her, not Obama, in 2008 didn’t vote for her/come out to vote for her in 2016. There are a few reasons, and I believe, as someone from the Midwest, that for some people it came down to race. A certain % of whites decided that she cared too much about minorities. I could feel it grow as the campaign went on. Whites who had many of the same concerns as blacks for a long time and voted the same way separated into a different camp now. When she was going to places like Cleveland, my hometown, I could feel resentment from other parts of OH and that part of the country. As much as the final days of Hillary’s campaign were active and exciting, and I really thought she’d win, there was a feeling of concern that had taken hold in me after picking up on that resentment. But race aside, as I posted last week, a lot had to do with people not taking responsibility and depending on inspiration to float them down to their polling places. I vote every four years. I don’t depend on a Barack Obama (though I love the guy) every four years to get me there. People have grown so lazy about their civic responsibilities. Anyone who didn’t want Trump but didn’t vote or who didn’t bother taking on the responsibility of getting informed enough and voting for Hillary, will deserve what they get with Trump.

I definitely feel bad for her because she thought her party was behind her in 08 and she was FURIOUS when she realized they never were. This is a physically violent woma when angry. Game Change was literally almost all about her and B.O. THAT was the movie they should've made. Now fictionalize a film like they did in part 1.

I also feel bad for her because she like EVERY woman who's run for high office (EVERY) finds herself the victim of sexism. There are zero exceptions.

I trust her more than Trump just because she's been in the WH before, but hell no do I trust her. At all. I've spoken indepth to many people form ARK and there is a reason NO ONE likes her there.

Bless his heart, Obama tried to make us all feel better in his press conference before heading to Greece and Germany.

It is important that he is heading to Germany to remind them that now, they are the most important Democracy on the planet and in an ironic twist they will keep Democracy alive as we weather our own American Fascist Regime.

"Hillary Clinton knew what she was up against and she made a decision to protect herself, and for the most part it worked."

Actually, her communicating this way perpetuates what she has always done. Act and live in complete secrecy.

Now, I am hesitant to judge her for her husband's incredibly shady Foundation, in which he has cheated Haiti and probably more since you don't stop at stealing from 1 country. But she is absolutely a liar. How the frick can you deny that? There isn't a bigger flipflopper. I had a hard time watching the debates because I couldn't choose who was denying more. I don't think she's emotionless though. Women, unfortunately, have to be ore stoic because sexism.

She's still a Corporate ass kisser, she still believes in having 2 personalities, and she has a lifetime of indifferent attitude toward security. She also treats her SS detail like shit.

She handled Trump's brutism well. But damn, do I believe Jonathan's Pies rant. he is spot on and he called EVERYTHING from the beginning.

I completely agree. At the beginning of the campaign I found that I could not choose between Bernie & Hillary. There were a lot of things Bernie said that I totally agreed with, but still, something in me said, "Wait...wait...keep watching." It bothered me that I couldn't seem to choose. But after several months I began to get a sense that Bernie, despite how much I liked him, was getting in a bit over his head, and I knew he would be unable to carry through on some of the stuff he was saying, no matter that he fully believed it all.

I finally decided to do a bunch of research on as many of the right wing anti-Hillary talking points as I could, and was interested to see that they were all bullshit. I know how to do research, and I'm good at it. I'm a writer and regularly do research to inform my writing. I've also done research for fellow authors to help them in legal situations.

So after thinking about all this, I threw my support to Hillary, and as the campaign continued, I found myself liking her more and more. I never liked her coziness with corporations & banks, but I could see her moving away from those positions as the campaign wore on, and I got a distinct feeling this was real, not expediency. I began to see how tough she really was, yet how compassionate as well.

And as Trump's electoral college points began to add up toward victory, I began to sense that something was wrong, very wrong, very fishy. Something I couldn't quite put my finger on...some kind of chicanery that was buried so deep it was impossible to identify. I still feel this way.

That this election process has been screwed with -- way beyond the electoral college situation, or the anger of the rust belt, or the (supposed) Trump vote of white women, or whatever the latest theory is -- feels very clear to me. I don't know who's responsible or how they did it, but the Russians seem rather smugly happy about Trump's win, so maybe it was them.

But more to the point, I don't know what to do about it. And I think that's what we all have to figure out, individually and collectively. I think we're in for some pretty hard times, but we must push back, we must prevail.

    1. Well, she does have her flaws.

But it wasn't so much whether she was a flawed candidate. She was the WRONG candidate this time.

We needed a charismatic popularist to counter Trump and we didn't have one. No matter how hard Clinton tried, she is not a popularist and she isn't charismatic. This was an elections of feelings and emotions, not reasoning and facts.

It wasn't so much that Hillary was flawed. It was that the Democratic Party Leadership was flawed for not recognizing the turn the population had taken and not choosing a candidate and running a campaign to account for it. That is why people stayed home and didn't vote. That is why they didn't vote for Democrats.

Would you vote for a party that only listens to lobbyists and those with a lot of money? That is our complaint about the Republicans. Well, the tables have turned and the Democratic Party is now seen as the "coastal liberal elites" that only care about Wall St. and the 1%ers. The DNC and Clinton didn't do enough to counter that. Trump used it against Clinton. I said during the primaries that he is an expert at branding. Once he branded her Crooked Hillary, that was it. The Democrats could have done something similar to Trump but they were too polite and played too nice.

HOWEVER, there have and continue to be too many attacks and assumptions. Thin skins on this blog are way too quick to assume someone is a troll and attack, especially if that person posts an opinion contrary to the masses.

Anyone who says Hillary has no flaws is guilty of the same blind worship as the Deplorables. She certainly has flaws and weaknesses (and baggage).

No she did not lose the election alone. There was a lot going on and it became a perfect storm.

It wasn't just Russia, Wikileaks and the FBI. The DNC leadership has their flaws and they contributed to the loss too.

When you let go of your prejudices you can start to analyze objectively. Until you do, you can't identify the problem and until you identify the problem, you can't move forward to fix anything.

The longer people defend "perfect" Hillary and finger point at Russia, Wikileaks and the FBI, then they won't be able to move forward and change what needs to be changed to put Democrats in the Senate in 2018 and a Democrat in the White House in 2020. Remember, that is a census year and the Republicans will do their utmost to gerrymander the hell out of the United States so they'll never lose again.

So swallow a big fact gulp of objectivity and move on.

They are rich but comparatively they're not. They're not, and yet they are so much more generous than Trump and a lot of other rich people. And I don't blame Hillary for making money on speeches. They all do. And I believe you can be paid to make a speech for Goldman Sachs and it doesn't mean you're in bed with them--it means you have something to say that you want those people to hear. She was 20 million in the hole in 2008. Obama eventually helped out with her debt, but she had a lot to handle on her own and with the help of donors who still believed in her and donated after she lost. She and Bill had been dragged through so much since Whitewater, and I was glad to see her making money now, you bet.

Thank you for saying that, Gryphen. Hillary Clinton was an excellent candidate. It was too bad that the media has been stuck in their "nasty Hillary" groove for the last thirty years. I keep imagining how she would be handling the transition now - with skill and decorum. No sycophant would have to tell the press that she was "uncomfortable" with the role of president and would need time to get used to the idea! And no blatant racist would be given a high profile job in the White House!

Imagine if Hillary Clinton had tweeted "check out sex tape". It would have ended her campaign.

Donald Trump enjoyed a ludicrous amount of old white male privilege. And will probably wallow in that privilege for the entirety of his "administration".

All of you are right on. Hillary could never get away with what Trump did. Much of it is based in sexism. People can deny that all they want. It's always there though. We know it.

Funny, though, that he's complaining and Conway is, too, about his being criticized for not saying anything to help calm the public down. They're saying that if Hillary had won she'd not be expected to say anything and would not be criticized (and of course she, the grownup that she is and the one who really loves this country, would have said something by now). Ugh. The role reversal game with the Trump camp never ends, even after winning.

  18. So now if you pay attention you will see a parade of Right Wing BS about Hillary and Bill posted as if it is actually based in fact, and all kinds of trolls talking about past crimes, lies, and sleazy deals with nothing to back them up.

This is what we were subjected to during the campaigns and this is what the less critically thinking among us swallowed whole.

But it is this very approach which proves my point.

If people had taken the time to research what they were hearing they would have realized that the vast majority of it was complete garbage, and anything remotely factual was exaggerated to be a hundred times worse than it was.

Like I said the flaws were not Hillary Clinton's, they was manufactured and sold to the voters who did not have the means or the desire to fact check them.

I have been getting so annoyed by the folks trying to rationalize what happened. No matter the amount of "truth" there might be in whatever theory people are floating, I keep getting back to one very disturbing and inescapable fact:
It appears that a huge number of adult Americans, civic minded enough to actually go and cast a vote, thought it was a good idea to vote for someone who is clearly an incompetent misogynistic bigot with a dangerously fragile ego. No matter that you blame not enough people for voting for Hillary, I'm having the hardest time understanding how people could have cast their vote for Trumpelstiltskin. I don't care how angry they were, could they really have wanted what they are going to get? I'm incredulous.

They are trying to say it was the economy, jobs. But anyone who listened to the candidates heard Hillary’s plan—this crap about her not having a plan or message is such bs--and she had it on her website and analysis was done by the experts who determined H's plan to be far superior. People are tested when money is tight, to be sure, and the very poor will do things they'd never otherwise do. But so many people just sold their souls to the devil when they chose Trump and used the economy as an excuse. I have no problem ethically with, say, a woman who’s dead broke selling her body to support her child or someone stealing food. When it’s truly about survival, that’s one thing. I do have a problem when people who claim to be “poor” and who really don’t know the meaning of poor sell their souls to the likes of Trump. The people who are rationalizing their votes and saying it had nothing to do with race, etc. are lying to themselves. Every ugly –ism in the book was a part of this campaign and the lies and filth and crimes and so much more was a mountain next to Hillary’s molehill. Those people saying they held their nose and voted for Trump for change or for economic reasons are moral cowards. It’s times like these that test a person’s depth of character. And intelligence—there was so much out there that should have made people want to vote for Hillary, but they were so friggin lazy-minded. And a large part of them were racists and sexist and were glad to grab onto the economy as an excuse to go for the man who represented their true so-called values.

“Our law enforcement officers and LAPD don’t go around asking people for their papers, nor should they,”

LAPD will not help deport immigrants under Trump, chief says

....For decades, the LAPD has distanced itself from federal immigration policies. The LAPD prohibits officers from initiating contact with someone solely to determine whether he or she is in the country legally, mandated by a special order signed by then-chief Daryl Gates in 1979. During Beck’s tenure as chief, the department stopped turning over people arrested for low-level crimes to federal agents for deportation and moved away from honoring federal requests to detain inmates who might be deportable past their jail terms.

“Our law enforcement officers and LAPD don’t go around asking people for their papers, nor should they,” he said. “That’s not the role of local law enforcement.”...

I'm with you Gryphen on this one...no one is perfect but Hillary would have fought for the very people that did this. If you decide to dedicate your life to public service there will be issues, 30+ years tends to drag behind you. There is a bottom line to all this.....take the accomplishments of both candidates side by side. There is plenty of blame to go around, esp with 1/2 the country too damn lazy to vote and the millions that voted away America from sheer stupidity. Did anyone see the Today show this morning?

DONALD SUTHERLAND: I could do a thousand movies with Helen Mirren but that's the only one I've done. And it was -- if it is a quarter as good as it was a joy to play, then it will be absolutely wonderful. Helen Mirren -- Helen Mirren came up to me on the set and stood in front of me and said, in the middle of a shooting. you know? And I love her. and she said 'you are the most privileged person on Earth.' I said you're joking. I mean I've been very fortunate and I've had a wonderful life but -- she said, 'No, you are the most privileged person on Earth'. I said how can you say that? She said, 'You are a white male.'

So far 797,724 people voted for Clinton over Trump. That doesn't count those that voted for other candidates.

Trump only has 47.2 % of the vote. Significantly less than half.

He needs to embrace that the people don't "love" him and he doesn't have a mandate. He also better be very careful what he does and doesn't do as there is an election in 2 years for Congressional seats. If the Democrats wise up, restructure and work really hard and fast, we can take back the Senate and then look at kicking him out of that public housing I'm sure he's disparaging. 2020 is out new target.

He's going to learn just how badly he needs to start reading again and needs the press. I so wish the reporters could just not show up. I loved it when they finally banded together when enough was enough that day when he got everyone to gather at his DC hotel and he treated the birtherism announcement so lamely. The Trump team has asked the White House to explore the possibility of getting his children the top secret security clearances. Logistically, the children would need to be designated by the current White House as national security advisers to their father to receive top secret clearances. Trump Team Denies Security Clearances Sought for Kids

    By ABC NEWS
    Nov 14, 2016, 10:22 PM

The Trump transition team has denied reports that the president-elect sought security clearances for his children, according to a team official.

The official said that the children have also not started filling out the necessary paperwork to obtain the clearances.

"That's not something I'm expecting right now," the officials said.

According to CBS News, the transition team approached the White House about potentially obtaining the top secret clearances.

Trump team seeks top-secret security clearances for Trump's children.

President-elect Donald Trump is potentially seeking top secret security clearances for his children, sources tell CBS News.

The Trump team has asked the White House to explore the possibility of getting his children the top secret security clearances. Logistically, the children would need to be designated by the current White House as national security advisers to their father to receive top secret clearances. However, once Mr. Trump becomes president, he would be able to put in the request himself.

Washington (CNN)President-elect Donald Trump is considering trying to get Donald Jr., Eric and Ivanka Trump, along with Jared Kushner, his right-hand man and Ivanka Trump's husband, permission to receive top security clearance, according to a transition source.

Another transition official pushed back on the reporting, which was first published by CBS News.
According to a pool news report, the official said the President-elect did not request that this step be taken, and the Trump children have not started filling out paperwork for such clearances.
"That's not something I'm expecting right now," the transition official told the press pool.
It is unusual for a president's children to be so clued in to White House policy. But the three kids have long been essential advisers to their father's presidential bid, and were named last week to the presidential transition committee -- ....

I'm reminded of Michael Moore who pointed out HRC's lack of authenticity; i.e. the way she thought marriage was a sacred rite between a man and a woman up until the popular opinion shifted, then she was out officiating gay weddings. She always came across as someone who'd reveal her deepest beliefs--as soon as she had a chance to poll test them first.

People remember these impressions and it came back to bite her. One of the BEST arguments she could have used against Don was to point out that the last time we had a Businessman elected president he turned a budget surplus into a record deficit, permitted a disastrous recession, and started an illegal war. Unfortunately, if she tried to go down that road, people would immediately state how she voted for the war--a vote of pure political expediency which of course, she now regrets because it is no longer favorable in the public's eyes. Don is a far worse president, but just about anyone could have beat her.

Reports: Donald Trump Wants His Adult Kids To See America’s Most Carefully Kept Secrets

    TIM MAK

    11.14.16 4:40 PM

Donald Trump is reportedly looking for top-secret clearances for his children, a sign that rather than entering the Oval Office with an eye for avoiding conflicts of interest he’s preparing to rush headlong into a minefield of them.
The president-elect has begun asking how he could secure high level clearances for Ivanka, Eric and Donald Jr., his three adult children with first wife Ivana, as well as for Ivanka’s husband Jared Kushner, according to CNN and CBS. All four family members are members of his transition team, though Trump has said his children won’t serve formal roles in his administration but instead will run the family business while he runs the country.
“This is why we created the nepotism law in the first place. Huge conflicts of interest. You can’t have your kids being advisers. It has to be properly qualified officials who are experts in the fields,” Bradley Moss, a lawyer specializing in security-clearance law, told The Daily Beast. “It’s an issue of comfort for the President-elect because he’s relied on his children so much. But I don’t foresee a viable legal or ethical loophole or exception.”

It’s unclear exactly whether Trump’s request could even be fulfilled—at least legally. A 1967 law prohibits the president from hiring their immediate family members in the federal government, and to have a security clearance an individual must work the government in some capacity: as a civilian, as a military official or a contractor.

“This is not the family business, this is the presidency. The days of family nepotism is over, not just due to policy and practice but by law. Security clearances are not candies to be doled out like at Halloween....

Hillary was the weakest candidate the Democrats could possibly have put forth, because of her last name.

Hillary lost formerly-blue Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Iowa because her husband signed NAFTA and GATT/WTO and Permanent Normal Trade Relations with China, shipping millions of blue collar jobs out of the country. People had to pack up machines to be sent, with their jobs, to Mexico or China, and now are working poor and live among empty factories where they used to make a living wage.

  63. Elizabeth Warren would disagree. She isn't saying it point blank but the inference is that Clinton was not the right candidate and the DNC choose the wrong message/approach to the election.

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/elizabeth-warren-obamacare-trump-democrats_us_582a4402e4b0c4b63b0e3988

"WASHINGTON ― Elizabeth Warren delivered a blunt message to a large group of wealthy liberal donors Monday, arguing that the Democratic Party’s failure to connect with working and middle-class people had opened the door for Donald Trump to win the presidency.

Warren, according to sources in the room, ran through a litany of issues on which Democrats had left people behind, either by offering too little or nothing at all. Perhaps her most surprising criticism was directed at the Affordable Care Act, known as Obamacare.

The Massachusetts senator, who walked in to a standing ovation before she’d even been introduced, told the bereft gathering that she was as capable as any other politician at defending Obamacare and rattled off its benefits ― no more exclusions based on pre-existing conditions, you can stay on your parents’ plan until age 26, 20 million Americans covered. “But let’s be honest: It’s not bold. It’s not transformative,” she added.

Had the party acknowledged its shortcoming and pledged to fight for more, Warren said, that message may have resonated. “I’m OK taking half a loaf if our message was ‘Here’s half, now let’s go get the rest,’” she said."

"Speaking at the gathering of the Democracy Alliance, she also highlighted Democrats’ inability to help homeowners during the financial crisis, even though banks were bailed out. She blasted the failure to prosecute the bankers, saying that it suggested to working people just whose side the party was on. She also picked up on corporate-friendly trade policies, arguing Democrats were too eager to push deals that hurt the working class.

“That’s where we failed, not in our messaging, but in our ideology,” she said, according to people in the room."

"Van Jones and Heather McGhee also addressed the donor class and spoke in equally blunt language about the progressive movement’s inability to connect with the black and brown working classes and for “resourcing communities of color too little, too late.” "

"Turnout was down in African-American and Latino communities, which can just as easily be blamed for Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton’s loss as is the uptick in white support for Republican Trump. And for Warren, one way to drive that turnout would have been to give minority voters, as well as whites, something to believe in.

In Wisconsin, Trump’s current margin of victory is just over 27,250 votes. In Milwaukee County alone, Clinton won 288,986 votes (so far) ― down from Barack Obama’s 328,090 in 2012. That’s a difference of 39,104 votes in that one county. Those voters didn’t go to Trump, who received over 32,000 fewer votes in the county than Republican candidate Mitt Romney did in 2012 ― they just didn’t turn out. If Clinton had gotten those votes that Obama received, she would have won the state.

Wayne County, Michigan, has a similar story: Obama won 77,806 votes more than Clinton’s current tally of 517,447. Trump outperformed Romney’s totals in the county but only by 14,738 votes ― so the missing Obama voters still could have shifted the race. Trump leads by only 11,423 votes statewide."

We needed to run a Populist Progressive. We didn't. Whose decision was that? Not mine.

"President Barack Obama implicitly criticized Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign and the Democratic Party’s tactics during a press conference on Monday, arguing that a national press strategy isn’t enough to win an election in today’s political climate.

In his first press conference since last week’s election, Obama was asked what he thinks his party should do to rebuild after Clinton’s loss to President-elect Donald Trump.

“I believe that we have better ideas,” Obama said of the Democratic Party. “But I also believe that good ideas don’t matter if people don’t hear them.”

Obama continued: “Given population distribution across the country, we have to compete everywhere. We have to show up everywhere.” "

Obama is wrong. It isn't enough to spend 87 days speaking to people in Iowa. You have to tell them something they want to hear. That didn't happen. Not to those that really counted.

  65. But we can work to take back Congress and the White House asap. Trump has his weaknesses. We simply have to retool the Democratic leadership and win a Senate (at the least) majority and the White House before any more Supreme Court Justices die.

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/robert-kuttner/the-vulnerability-of-trum_b_12950318.html?section=us_politics

"Usually, the first mid-term election produces setback for a new president. But Trump could still be riding high by 2018 on the strength of a Keynesian boom. Due to the luck of the draw, Democrats are defending five senate seats in red states. Republican-sponsored gerrymandering, plus voter suppression, make it unlikely that Democrats will make many gains in the House in 2018.

But, assuming that we do have a presidential election in 2020, and without too much rigging, I think by then Trump himself will be vulnerable — very vulnerable.

In 2020, another Wall Street Democrat would not do well against Trump. But a populist Democrat could oust him."

Whenever Hillary Clinton spoke during her campaign the media replaced her message with nonsense about emails and lack of trust. Unless people were present to hear her, no one heard a word of what she was saying. Virtually no television stations carried her speeches (I only recall one speech of hers that was covered) and dozens of Trump's rallies were carried on cable television. And then there's the daily commentary: zilch about policy which was what Hillary Clinton was talking about, lots of innuendos about emails, and verbatim coverage of every insult or mean statement made by Trump, who, by the way, never mentioned policy. Not only does he not grasp any policy positions but he could never articulate them. Most require a more nuanced vocabulary than he has. But that did not bother the media whose members only objected to Trump when he was denigrating reporters.

    2. It DOESN'T MATTER.

No one cared about what she was saying.

This was a popularity contest. She was Wall St.

      The networks carried both conventions.

She gave a very good speech at the DNC but it wasn't that hugely inspiring show stopper.

She is a very competent craftsman but she isn't an artist. She lacks that spark of divine fire that elevates her presentations.

Even if they carried all of her speeches, it would not have made any difference. The people she needed didn't trust her and that wasn't just because of Trump. That is a lifelong legacy. The Republicans delegitimized her before she ever declared her candidacy. That is her baggage. The e-mails just gave it focus.

People just didn't like her that much.

Then you've got the master of branding.

He branded each of his Republican opponents and they fell by the wayside. Lyin' Ted, Low-energy Jeb. And while he didn't offically brand her, Ugly Carly. He made Elizabeth Warren Pocahontas, although that backfired on him.

Once he crowned her Crooked Hillary it was all over.

The Democrats, being the snooty elitists they are, refused to lower themselves to Trump's level and brand him back.

He could have been branded any number of ways.

      Tax-evader Trump.

      Don the Con

      Pussygrabber Trump

King Dong with an illustration of him hanging off his tower.

This election didn't need politeness and nuanced vocabulary. It needed blatant, clear short and sweet talking points at a 3rd grade level and some push back on branding Don for the sexual predator, liar, cheat, narcissist, sociopath and traitor that he is.

Until the Democrats embrace fighting dirty just like the Republicans, they are going to continue to lose.
