Open letter from millennial voter to President Obama. You're probably gonna need a tissue.

Courtesy of the Daily Kos:

Dear Mr. President,

As your final term is almost over, I would like to reach out to you to show you my deepest gratitude and appreciation. Although I was too young to vote for you in 2008 and 2012, your presidency has greatly inspired me and I recently casted my first presidential ballot for Madam Clinton.

I was brought up in a conservative Christian, Republican household. I have seen the hatred, mud-slinging, disgusting, and downright deplorable comments thrown your way by Republicans like Trump. I remember the obstruction that Republicans have played to destroy your presidency and ruin your legacy. Through it all, you have remained dedicated, calm, gracious, courageous, and have not given up on your goals and vision for this country.

Your presidency has inspired me to continue my education and aim for the highest, in spite of my difficulties, disabilities, and obstacles. By watching your presidency, I have learned how to properly dialogue with those with whom I disagree with politically. Finally, your presidency has given me the freedom to marry by future partner, whoever he will be.

I wish you the best in retirement and looking forward to seeing the great things you accomplish! I will certainly miss you.

Sincerely,

David P. Neff

I swear that every time I consider the fact that we are losing this amazing man as the leader of our country I feel a wave of emotion that makes my heart ache.

Yes I think that Hillary Clinton will make a fine President, I really do.

But there are some people who are one of a kind, and we just spent the last eight years honored to have just such a one of kind individual as our Commander-in-Chief.

That is a lovely letter and I agree with you, Gryphen, that Hillary Clinton will be a "fine president."

He didn't think so in 2007. Gryphen hated Hillary more than he irrationally hates Sarah.

I'm not sure hate is the word to use for Uncle Gryph's criticisms of anyone- except maybe Sarah of course. I violently disagree with my Xtian Repub brother, but I don't hate him.

HRC would be great as president. As a Canadian I can't understand the never ending Republican attacks on her that have gone on for decades. And I can't understand why people don't see that she hasn't done anything criminal unlike Trump who has two CRIMINAL TRIALS in his near future. Not only is she more than qualified for the job, but she has been charitable with her wealth and has helped pay for everything from education to the military to vets through paying federal taxes. The Clinton Foundation pays no salary to the Clintons and has helped children worldwide. Trump Foundation is being investigated for self-dealing and being used as a way to avoid taxes by its founder.

    1. The reThugliKKKans' hatred of HRC began when she, a fledging lawyer, served on the Watergate committee. Later, her husband ousted Bush Sr from the White House, and their hatred moved into overdrive, where it has been ever since. The GOP for the past decade plus has refused to lead, govern, or legislate; their sole focus has been obstruction and destruction. Sad, to say the least.

      Republicans are misogynistic.

They want submissive women, barefoot, pregnant, in the kitchen making sure dinner is on the table when they come home. It's why Trump is so attractive to them.

They want control over women. They object to women who are smart, make their own decisions, are independent and work. Heaven forbid they have a better job or make more money. (That's why women only make 71% of what men make). They're threatened by educated women.

They really hate strong, educated, independent, capable women. They are the biggest threat.

Hillary hits all of the fear buttons of the GOP.

They hate her because she threatens them in a primal level.

Republicans really want to turn back the clock. Not just to the 50s and June Cleaver. They want to pillory Rosie the Riveter. They want to go back to when women were chattel, couldn't own property and certainly couldn't vote or hold office. They are livid that a woman would be "Commander in Chief" of men in the military. They are horrified that they will have to respect her as the President of the United States.

This started 30 years ago because some of them recognized that she had the potential to be the President. So they've been opposing and attempting to suppress her ever since.

You can see the lengths they've gone to during this campaign to sink her.

  4. HRC in real danger of losing election. Firewall states falling. Polls are too behind to measure Trump momentum which is tremendous.

Remember that time people obsessed over Russia, then the Chinese regime bought another chunk of our film industry?

Is the person who's posting so much this morning about China trying to deflect interest from Trump's ties to Russia? It's just way too much all at one time.

I agree! The China postings have been going on for a few days now and I automatically skip them. Overly done - boring and off subject - that is for sure!!!

Vote Hillary Clinton who knows more about foreign affairs than most opposing her! (Especially Trump!)

    Beautiful!
You hear all of the venom and evil coming from the right-wing, THEN you see a something like this letter and it brightens your day. It warms your heart. We need more of this type of thing, that David P.Neff wrote.

Good people make us feel good. Good people have good in their hearts.
Bad people are out to steal our joy, and make us feel bad.

People like David P. Neff warm my heart. God bless him.

Hillary "might" be in trouble over the emails. BUT DONALD TRUMP HAS TWO COURT DATES COMING UP (fraud and rape). This cartoon explains it all perfectly (and who is to blame for people not knowing this) http://luckovich.blog.ajc.com/2016/11/01/1102-mike-luckovich-squirrel/

Yeah, that letter sums it up for me too. I was really worried about Mitt getting in but the people did the right thing, twice. Barack & Michelle are so exceptional, I said from the beginning they were a gift to lead us out of the Bush horror. I read the comments about Melania's speech yesterday, I swear....saying that class & grace were finally coming back to the WH after 8 years. There can be no greater delusion than her goal of ending bullying/hate speech...blah blah blah, how is this possible? To be that stupid and blind that dear ole Don is the worst offender this country has ever had?

I see the headlines now how the FBI is just as corrupt and the rest of the GOP...our country is being swallowed whole by greed, hate & lies. I can't imagine anyone going into politics, although I can't imagine being so stupid as to keep voting these criminals in over and over. Will Tuesday come fast enough?

Can you imagine having a cranky neighbor, a racist neighbor or a neighbor not willing to compromise? That's the Republicans! That can make anybody's life miserable. After four years of that or even eight years of obstruction and racism can make even a man with a great heart become sour.

But not President Obama, he may not be able to get things done due to the Republicans standing in his way but he keeps on working for America.

I have one!!! She's a nice white lady and so am I! But, I truly question her thinking.

Have hated hearing her bad mouth President Obama most of all. And, now she loves Trump!! God forbid!

G., you must have seen the photo on CNN today, of Trump holding two babies in his arms, and the youngest had the most screeching look on it's face, and the other little girl was reaching out to someone to pick her up. Such a contrast to the photos of President Obama, the baby whisperer. Going to miss him greatly.

Beautiful letter. I'm sorry I'm an old person because I think once the hateful old white guys die off the next generation will be much more understanding and accepting of differences. I'd love to live to see it! Consider that in my large family, all the siblings, cousins and spouses of my generation are white (mostly Catholic) Europeans except for one. But in my grandchildren's generation we have African Americans, Native Americans, and east and south Asians- even the white kids are half Jewish. Their parents have traveled the world and have friends on nearly every continent. Hard to see the current Republican attitudes surviving in that environment.

So agree! We are going to sorely miss President Obama and his entire family!

But, I'm sure he and First Lady Michelle (and their daughters) will move forward serving America and Americans in other ways.

They will all be fun to follow. But, I especially want them to have a grand holiday in beautiful Hawaii upon the completion of his second term and the welcoming of Presidents Clinton move into the White House again!

Our daughter has three answered letters from President Obama. She had them professionally framed with acid free matting. I'm going to miss him, but I'm sure he'll continue in some way to serve our country.

Try not to be too horrified, but just imagine after a 2 term Trump presidency.

What kind of a letter do you think would be written to him?
