Taxpayers could pay over 3 million dollars annually to house Secret Service in Trump Tower.

Courtesy of the New York Post:

The Secret Service is in negotiations with the Trump Organization to take over two vacant floors in the gilded 68-story Fifth Avenue tower, law enforcement sources told The Post.

The federal agency and the NYPD plan to run a 24/7 command post out of the space that would be housed at least 40 floors below Trump’s $90 million penthouse triplex, where wife Melania and their 10-year-old son Barron will continue to reside at least through the spring, sources said.

So we already know that protecting Trump and his family in New York is currently costing over a million dollars a day.

How much  more will it cost to house these Secret Service agents in the Trump Tower? The lease deal alone could cost more than $3 million a year, based on prevailing rates in the building.

The Post reported earlier this week that the 17th floor at Trump Tower is available. The floor is currently being marketed in three, 3,000- to 5,000-square-foot parcels at up to $105 per square foot.

At that rate the federal government would be paying $1.5 million a year for just one floor and double that for two levels of Trump Tower offices.

So not only will Trump refuse to put his financial holdings in a blind trust, because apparently conflict of interest laws don't apply to him, but now taxpayers are expected to directly pay one of his companies to house his security detail?

This guy is actually turning the presidency, which has long been considered the pinnacle of public service, into a crass money making operation.

You know these Trump voters are a special kind of stupid aren't they?

  2. Just the beginning. Actually it began when the RNC started paying for his campaign and had to start paying rent there and to his companies for activities. It's going to be very expensive having him as president. I've always suspected he's been in financial trouble and this is his new source of income. He's gong to bleed us like no president ever had

    2. I always thought he would never quit because he was looking at the office as a way to make money. He'll never resign either.

Not only is he making money hand over fist, he can use the office to make even more money for his businesses while at the same time stopping his creditors in their tracks. Maybe even eliminating the debts for some sort of quid pro quo we'll never know about because we've never seen his taxes.

So how much is trump going to be adding to the deficit? I thought there was a limit on the security budget?

In the mean time he is making obscene amounts of money for himself all courtesy of the taxpayers and he doesn't even pay taxes himself.

Like trump is really going to stop this money making deal:

Oil pipeline: Trump's stock in company raises concern

By MATTHEW DALY - The Associated Press

WASHINGTON (AP) President-elect Donald Trump holds stock in the company building the disputed Dakota Access oil pipeline, and pipeline opponents warn that Trump's investments could affect any decision he makes on the $3.8 billion project as president.

Trump's 2016 federal disclosure forms show he owned between $15,000 and $50,000 in stock in Texas-based Energy Transfer Partners. That's down from between $500,000 and $1 million a year earlier.
Trump also owns between $100,000 and $250,000 in Phillips 66, which has a one-quarter share of Dakota Access.

Besides Trump, at least two possible candidates for energy secretary also could benefit from the pipeline. Oil billionaire Harold Hamm could ship oil from his company, Continental Resources, through the pipeline, while former Texas Gov. Rick Perry serves on the board of directors of Energy Transfer Partners.

Kelcy Warren, CEO of Dallas-based Energy Transfer, told The Associated Press that he expects Trump to make it easier for his company and others to complete infrastructure projects.

"Do I think it's going to get easier? Of course," said Warren, who donated $3,000 to Trump's campaign, plus $100,000 to a committee supporting Trump's candidacy and $66,800 to the Republican National Committee.

  4. Drumpf better be *very* careful about that lease.

If he charges more than market, it might be impeachable. He may *think* the president is immune from that sort of conflict of interest, profiting off of his office, but he may not want to put it to the test. He may end up worse than DICK Nixon. He may find himself the first president successfully impeached. No acquittal for him.

Think about this for a second. We have all 3 houses of government held by majority GOP and Trump himself will appoint the next Supreme. Just who is going to impeach him? Face it, Trump has 4-8 years to do whatever he wants, that's just the way it is.

@ 2:44 pm boy you certainly give up easily. Things could change during the mid term elections or traitor trump could be pressure into resigning because the corruption is so blatant it can no longer be ignored. You just never know.

The Supreme Court does not impeach the president.

“It is often said that the “House impeaches and the Senate convicts,” or not. In essence, the House first decides if there are grounds to impeach the president, and if it does, the Senate holds a formal impeachment trial.

    5. The House impeaches him and the Senate tries him.

I think there are enough Republicans in the Senate with integrity or self interest to want to get rid of Trump. The question is are there enough in the House. Ryan is Speaker and he is no friend of Trump. I think Ryan could get enough votes to impeach if the opportunity presented itself.

As for the Supreme Court, they don't have anything to do with it. Besides, whoever Drumpf appoints will fill Scalia's seat. Scalia wasn't the swing on the court, Kennedy is. So it may still be 5-4 one way or another until another judge goes. Let's pray it's Thomas.

I'm sure whoever Drumpf nominates will be worse than Scalia. It will be up to the Democrats in the Senate to get a few Republicans to join them in blocking whoever it is.

Trump inaugural committee having a hard time finding people to perform at swearing in ceremony

Celebrities are part of the fun of the traditionally monotonous Washington, DC inauguration ceremonies. For a town that runs on policy and politics, a Beyoncé or Lady Gaga sighting can make standing in the cold for hours that much more exciting.

The inaugural committee for President-Elect Donald Trump is having a hard time finding someone willing to perform, however, the UK Independent reported.

Trump transition team member Anthony Scaramucci said in an interview with the BBC that in an effort to show Trump supports LGBT people, Elton John would play. John said he wouldn’t.

“I’m not a Republican in a million years,” John said when Trump used his song “Tiny Dancer” for a campaign rally, “why not ask Ted f*cking Nugent?”

Vince Neil, vocalist for heavy metal band Mötley Crüe also dropped out of Trump’s inaugural, after previously being announced he would play. The Rolling Stones also refused. Trump frequently used The Stone’s song “You Can’t Always Get What You Want,” despite repeated requests for him to stop.

    WAIT ONE F'ING MINUTE

There has to be some control in how much the Secret Service (ie taxpayers) spends on a president-elect or president.

If the president lives in the White House then the Secret Service or federal government picks up the tab.

If the president is on travel on "official" business then the Secret Service or federal government picks up the tab.

IF THE PRESIDENT goes to a foreign country to visit a relative, check up on his property or to buy property then the president PAYS for the Secret Service OR QUITS!

IF THE PRESIDENT GOES TO HIS PERSONAL RESIDENCE THEN ANYTHING ABOVE A SET RATE FOR THE SECRET SERVICE THE PRESIDENT PAYS OUT OF HIS POCKET OR QUITS!

President Trump OR ANY PRESIDENT should never be allowed to stay at one of his or any relatives properties UNLESS there is NO CHARGES for the president, Secret Service or government employees.

All government officials cannot personally financially benefit from the government (ie at the taxpayers expense).

With Trump as president, you have to watch that snake. The federal government dictates where he stays. Trump is the type of person who would pre-arrange with a competitor and tell them if I stay at your hotel, you have to agree to pay my company 50% of what you make from the federal government.

You have to watch Trump like a little kid. He is constantly trying to figure out how to scam the federal government and taxpayers.

SO BUSINESSMAN TRUMP HAS SEVERAL PROJECTS STALLED IN MULTIPLE COUNTRIES.

NOW PRESIDENT-ELECT TRUMP'S PROJECTS IN MULTIPLE COUNTRIES ARE NO LONGER STALLED

    Washington Post
Trump’s presidency, overseas business deals and relations with foreign governments could all become intertwine

Days after Donald Trump’s election victory, a news agency in the former Soviet republic of Georgia reported that a long-stalled plan for a Trump-branded tower in a seaside Georgian resort town was now back on track.

Likewise, the local developer of a Trump Tower planned for Buenos Aires announced last week, three days after Trump spoke with Argentina’s president, that the long-delayed project was moving ahead.

Meanwhile, foreign government leaders seeking to speak with Trump have reached out to the president-elect through his overseas network of business partners, an unusually informal process for calls traditionally coordinated with the U.S. State Department.

All of it highlights the muddy new world that Trump’s election may usher in — a world in which his stature as the U.S. president, the status of his private ventures across the globe and his relationships with foreign business partners and the leaders of their governments could all become intertwined.

In that world, Trump could personally profit if his election gives a boost to his brand and results in its expansion overseas....
