A visual aid to help avoid fake news sites.

I think it is a little simplistic but basically on point.

For those wondering where IM would fit on that graphic I would think we were somewhere between Skews Liberal and Hyper-Partisan Liberal.

I make no apologies for being a proud liberal but I do work hard to present the facts to back up my point of view.

This is a wonderful graphic. What I like is seeing how the the "mainstream" is NOT considered extreme liberal as we constantly hear from those who believe everything they hear from FOXNews -- which actually is too far to the right here to be considered reliable by the ones who put this together.

And, Breitbart, Trumps biggest supporter, is shown to be in the toilet and not at all reliable or factual or possessing any journalistic standards -- DUH, we knew that, but I like seeing it here. And, I now know which on the left are the "mirror" twins to Breitbart, Daily Caller, etc., and which I will start to reject ---- hoping that not reading them will let me sleep better, calm down a bit. Trump will still be terrifying, but maybe a bit less so.

What is the source of this? Who took the time to do this great graphic?

Funny that DemocracyNow! isn't even mentioned.

Scary that Trump's primary sources of information and policy advisers are all in the bottom right corner.

Well, Alec Baldwin announced on Twitter on Friday that he wants to perform at Trump’s inauguration. There’s just one catch. Baldwin wants to sing a specific song that represents where America is going over the next four years.

I wanna perform at Trump’s inauguration.
I wanna sing HIGHWAY TO HELLhttps://t.co/fCTArIajFb

Can you imagine if Baldwin was actually able to make this happen? It would be hilarious.

    1. He's not exactly known for his singing voice either.

Wonder if he'd do it in his Trump make-up?

Whoever put this list together is a fucking idiot. So many of the sites, at least on the left, are sites that are simply aggregate sites that point to other news sources, with their analysis of the news. They are NOT fake news sites in the least, and often give very nuanced, intelligent and accurate observations to their readers. Just like you do, Jesse. So my guess is that this piece of garbage chart came from an idiot. It was the MAIN STREAM NEWS like the ones they are saying are legit that have been the most damaging. They take 'news' from conspiracy sites and make it mainstream all the time. Then they never bother to correct the lies, since that just isn't as 'sexy' as telling them in the first place. CNN, FOX, ABC, NBC, NPR, they're ALL guilty of disseminating false information. When you have a Corporatocracy, (a society or system that is governed or controlled by corporations) running the show, it's what we can expect in the foreseeable future.

Donald Trump is demanding the names of federal employees working to curb violent extremism

Officials from Donald Trump’s transition team submitted requests to at least two cabinet departments demanding they hand over the names of any government employees who are working on programs that seek to combat the rise of violent extremism, according to a report from Reuters.

First it was a demand to the Energy Department for a list of employees working on climate change. Because the 99% of scientists that say it's a critical issue are all part of a giant hoax organized by China. Only Donald Trump understands this because he's got a good brain.

Then it was a demand for information about all “gender-related staffing, programming and funding” including those programs that “promote gender equality, such as ending gender-based violence, promoting women’s participation in economic and political spheres, entrepreneurship, etc.” They also want a list of employees working on those programs. Because he's such a supporter of women's rights and all.

Now it's a demand for a list of all employees working on programs to combat violent extremism. You can bet all of the employees working on Islamic terrorism are safe, but those working on home-grown, right-wing extremism had better start looking for other jobs.

While some amount of turnover is to be expected with a new administration, I think the term that more accurately applies here is 'purge'.

I used to be a big fan of NPR, but they are now definitely leaning right, at least in their two morning news programs, Morning Edition and Weekend Edition. They have far more interviews and comments from the right then they do from the middle or left, and when they do have someone on from the left, they almost always have someone on the right as a counter point.

Just listen to the first 20 minutes of today's show: They had two interviews with republicans, but no democrats, and no rebuttal to the lies the republicans were stating.

I used to enjoy listing to both sides, but NPR no longer provides that, at least on their AM news programs.

  10. Are The Nation, MSNBC, and Huffpo considered Hyper Partisan, or Good news sources. It seems the are in the Great in Depth category, but they're overlapping into the confirmed bias area. Can you clear this up for me?

    One of the WORST offenders:

Obama Slams Facebook for “Outright Lies” Online

The outgoing president sounds off on the proliferation of fake news stories that may have helped elect his successor.

Facebook’s fake-news problem, which critics accuse of having helped sway the election for Donald Trump, has caught the attention of President Barack Obama. At a news conference Thursday with German chancellor Angela Merkel, Obama denounced the dissemination of hoax stories online, describing them as a serious threat to the ability of voters and citizens to make informed decisions. “If we are not serious about facts and what’s true and what’s not, and particularly in an age of social media, where so many people are getting their information in sound bites and snippets off their phones, if we can’t discriminate between serious arguments and propaganda, then we have problems,” he said. “People, if they just repeat attacks enough, and outright lies over and over again, as long as it's on Facebook and people can see it, as long as it's on social media, people start believing it. And it creates this dust cloud of nonsense.”

    1. Facebook isn't a news source. It's a social website. Anyone that relies on it for news is stupid and deserves the ridicule that comes their way for believing that crap.

About ten years ago or more, Vanity Fair had a 'Blogopticon' that had sources rated from liberal to conservative on one axis and factual to scurrilous on the other...it was SO HANDY in the earlier days of blogs...

I now have a link to one of its pages on the WayBack Machine bookmarked so I can at least go there and then find sites they had listed...

particular politically conservative but well thought out and well written...feel the need to get a well rounded view of what's news.

have tried to create my own but don't have the technical chops...

Mother Jones is missing from this graphic. They would probably be right up there with the other great in-depth news sources.
