Another advertiser bails on Breitbart due to hate speech.

Courtesy of Bloomberg:

Kellogg Co. is pulling its ads from the website Breitbart News, the right-wing news organization whose former chairman Steve Bannon was tapped as a top adviser to President-elect Donald Trump.

Brands that advertise on Breitbart have drawn flak in recent weeks, with activists saying the website espouses racist and anti-Semitic views. A screen shot showing an advertisement for Kellogg’s Frosted Mini Wheats was part of an online campaign to get marketers to abandon the site.

“We regularly work with our media-buying partners to ensure our ads do not appear on sites that aren’t aligned with our values as a company,” said Kris Charles, a spokeswoman for Kellogg, which also makes Frosted Flakes and Special K cereal. “We recently reviewed the list of sites where our ads can be placed and decided to discontinue advertising on Breitbart.com. We are working to remove our ads from that site.”

You may remember that Breitbart also lost a major source of revenue when a leading ad exchange blacklisted them for being a home for racism, antisemitism, and misogyny.

But don't you worry about ole Breitbart, I understand that white sheet distributors and companies who sell do-it-yourself flaming crosses are beating down the door to buy ad space.

By the way in response to this Breitbart is calling for a boycott of Kellogg's products.

Do racists even eat Frosted Flakes?

I will be buying an entire shopping cart load of Kelloggs cereal later today and donating all of it to my local food bank.

Actually Kelloggs was the brand the bigots flocked to after General Mills came out in support of gay marriage. I'll stick with GM.

    Bad news for Alaska.

North Slope oil will be priced out of the market when this Canadian pipeline is completed.

New oil field in Texas, right by Odessa/Midland, no need to deal with North Slope issues and plenty of oil field workers available.
Which in the end means "fuck Alaska".

As if Kelloggs didn't know what Breitbart was when they began advertising there???

Anyone with a brain knew what Breitbart was...a long time ago...

But kudos to them for growing a spine.

How can people remember who to boycott? Some donate to Planned Parenthood, others have LBGTG friendly corporate policies, the list goes on. And most companies are owned by larger parent companies so the boycotters are likely still buying from the people they don't want to support. People are really stupid! I don't have the time to research the policies and practices of every business I visit (except ChicFilet!!!) One of the local drug stores (either Walgreens or RiteAid) stopped selling cigarettes a few years ago. I want to shop at that store as often as I can to show my support. Only I can never remember which one it is......

    1. It is really difficult.

Some companies are schizo, they'll pull their advertising from Breitbart and then donate to ALEC. (not saying Kellogg does, just an example.)

You simply have to choose your battles.

I try to avoid Georgia Pacific products as that is Koch brothers. I don't eat Chik-fil-A (but never did). I won't patronize Hobby Lobby under any circumstances. I don't buy Barilla because of their anti-gay position.

I also avoid anything produced by or owned by any business or corporation from Utah because of their interference in California elections.

The only way to avoid everything would be to become a self-sustaining farmer. Your life would be like the Amish with no electricity or internet, no natural gas, chopping wood to heat and cook. That's a hard life.

You can do your best to vote with your wallet.

I swore off products with HFCS in 2010. So since then I read labels religiously and have had to give up some of my favorite products. I love Orangina but haven't had it in 7 years because they still formulate it with HFCS. What angers me is they don't do that for the European market, only because they can get away with it in the U.S.

I am appalled at what Trump might do deregulating food and drugs. I trust the state of California to keep my air and water safe to drink, but I'll have to be careful to buy local and make much of what I used to buy from scratch if I have to. Buy only organic ingredients. I suppose demand for organic will really grow when we can't rely on our normal sources to be safe any more.

There is a list of banks that are financing the DAPL pipeline. I was planning on refinancing my house anyway so writing a letter to Bank of America telling them I am transferring my mortgage because of their finance of the pipeline is a bonus. In the refinance I'll be paying off my Chase credit card. So easy to write them the same thing and put the card in a drawer to be dormant. They have to keep my account open but they'll make no more money off me.

I would urge everyone to join a local credit union. You can have a checking and savings account their, do your mortgage and loans. Mine even offers a low interest credit card with a fixed rate. Mine is 9%. So I don't use the Chase card anyway. I would rather have my mortgage held by my credit union than Bank of America. No telling what those bastards would do under Trump.

    OT - good article
Frightened by Donald Trump? You don’t know the half of it - "Yes, Donald Trump’s politics are incoherent. But those who surround him know just what they want, and his lack of clarity enhances their power. To understand what is coming, we need to understand who they are. I know all too well, because I have spent the past 15 years fighting them.
Trump’s climate denial is just one of the forces that point towards war

Over this time, I have watched as tobacco, coal, oil, chemicals and biotech companies have poured billions of dollars into an international misinformation machine composed of thinktanks, bloggers and fake citizens’ groups. Its purpose is to portray the interests of billionaires as the interests of the common people, to wage war against trade unions and beat down attempts to regulate business and tax the very rich. Now the people who helped run this machine are shaping the government. "https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2016/nov/30/donald-trump-george-monbiot-misinformation?CMP=share_btn_fb

      Americans for Prosperity (AFP).
" It set up the first Tea Party Facebook page and organised the first Tea Party events. With a budget of hundreds of millions of dollars, AFP has campaigned ferociously on issues that coincide with the Koch brothers’ commercial interests in oil, gas, minerals, timber and chemicals."
"there has been plenty of coverage of the racists and white supremacists empowered by Trump’s victory. But, gruesome as they are, they’re peripheral to the policies his team will develop. It’s almost comforting, though, to focus on them, for at least we know who they are and what they stand for. By contrast, to penetrate the corporate misinformation machine is to enter a world of mirrors. Spend too long trying to understand it, and the hyporeality vortex will inflict serious damage on your state of mind."

UPDATE: Nov. 30 ― Breitbart launched a #DumpKelloggs counter-campaign Wednesday afternoon in response to the company removing advertising from the site.

In an article published on the site, Breitbart editor-in-chief Alexander Marlow encouraged readers to boycott Kellogg products and described the decision to pull advertising as a “spit in the face” of readers:

“Breitbart News is the largest platform for pro-family content anywhere on the Internet. We are fearless advocates for traditional American values, perhaps most important among them is freedom of speech, or our motto ‘more voices, not less.’ For Kellogg’s, an American brand, to blacklist Breitbart News in order to placate left-wing totalitarians is a disgraceful act of cowardice. They insult our incredibly diverse staff and spit in the face of our 45,000,000 highly engaged, highly perceptive, highly loyal readers, many of whom are Kellogg’s customers. Boycotting Breitbart News for presenting mainstream American ideas is an act of discrimination and intense prejudice. If you serve Kellogg’s products to your family, you are serving up bigotry at your breakfast table.”

Breitbart Watch: Loyal Breitbart Readers Boycott Kellogg’s Products, Still A Bunch Of Froot Loops Anyway

You know what wingnuts hate more than anything? Weak whiners who are constantly whining about being discriminated against, like the Blacks, or the Messispanics, or the homosexxicans, or the womenfolk. They are utterly sick of all that “identity politics” out there, and just want an America where all white people are treated equally. So of course it only stands to reason that when the Kellogg’s breakfast cereal company decided — voting with its advertising dollars — that it would no longer advertise on the Breitbart website, the folks at Dead Breitbart’s Home For Eternal Butthurt started howling about how the big mean cereal company was committing the greatest hate crime since the corporate murder of the Frito Bandito, and demanded a boycott of the nasty makers of crunchy breakfast foods:

Why would these companies advertise on Breitbart anyway? It's my standard question just as I've wondered why major US companies would support ALEC, an organization designed to undermine basic American values at the local and state levels and replace them with Koch values (they have any?).
