Courtesy of NBC 4 Washington:
The secretary of the Army Corps of Engineers has told Standing Rock Sioux Chairman David Archambault that the current route for the Dakota Access pipeline will be denied.
The proposed route led to a protest encampment by the Standing Rock Sioux and other activists.
The 1,172-mile pipeline is nearly complete except for a small section beneath a Missouri River reservoir near the encampment, which is about 50 miles south of Bismarck.
Archambault cheered the decision in a statement Sunday.
"I am thankful there were some leaders in the federal government that realized something was not right even though its legal," he said. "For the first time in history native American, they heard our voices. This is something that will go down in history and is a blessing for all indigenous people.
Well, that is great news for these protesters, who were joined today by a group of veterans. (Gee, I wonder if that had anything to do with this decision?)
However, it should be noted that if there is an appeal after Donald Trump takes office this decision can be reversed.
And don't forget Trump has an investment in this company and stands to benefit financially if the pipeline is completed.
Yesssssssssssssss!
ReplyDeleteAll that orange fool thinks about is his money and how to get more. He'll ransack every part of America for it until he's the richest man in the world, just watch.
ReplyDeleteI have a hunch that reversing this is going to be very difficult for Trump and his administration. President Obama is no dummy!
ReplyDeleteI feel like since Trump HATES to be hated, he won't reverse it.
ReplyDeleteI don't think he notices hate: he notices slights, mocking and he will get revenge. That's his pattern. He knew he was thought of as a joke by 2/3rd of America/world so will pattern his administration to freak them out; scoop up their assets, piss them off any way he can. Monster-time. AAAARRRRGH.
Delete"The Chinese regime makes threats all the time and has continued to do so because the West doesn't understand them and always capitulates. This is why the West has stood by as the regime has done the unbelievably unacceptable thing of actually building military based on man made islands in waters it is falsely claiming it owns that are no where near its shore lines. The US has stood by and done nothing abut this, which is historically stunning and incredibly unwise and also done out of fear as it doesn't understand the regime or its bluffs. The regime behaves in unpredictable ways, yet never in ways that would put its power and control at risk.
ReplyDeleteIf the Chinese regime cut off all ties with the US its economy would utterly collapse, as it is an export economy and its biggest buyer is the US. This would create instability inside of China and would put the regime's power at risk. The regime has no validity and knows it and many Chinese actually hate the communist regime due to the regime's brutality, persecutions, abuses, disrespect for the Chinese people, repression of freedoms and on and on. The only remaining claim to power the regime has is that the economic situation in China has improved for certain segments of the Chinese society since Bill Clinton urged the World Trade Organization to allow the Chinese regime to become a member and this is what led to tens of thousands of US factories to move to China for cheap labour and millions of Americans to lose their jobs. This enriched China, as the Chinese then made the products that were sold back to the US. The Chinese regime can't cut this off because this would cause massive unemployment in China and huge riots. There are already over 800 riots/significant protests in China *every day*. Yes, every day. A small city in China is over a million people, so the population is on a scale we don't think about here and if those people rise up, the regime is done and the brutal regime officials will have to then pay for the blood on their hands as well.
Trump has been doing business deals successfully with the regime and other Chinese for many years now and I suspect he understands their mentality much better than the DC politicians who have no job requirements whatsoever to get their politician jobs, other than being able to get votes. Again, no one knows what Trump is going to do at this point, but I think there is a possibility that he may be able to make some progress if he is guided by morality in regards to the Chinese regime. Trump is also unpredictable, unlike the cardboard cutout politicians, so the regime won't be able to toy with him through predictability thy way they are used to doing with the standard, self-serving and therefore very predictable politicians who have been in power up until this time.'
All the Chinese would need to do is call in their loans and trump and the US will go into a blind panic or death spiral.
Delete@ 2:35 But...where would they sell all their knock-offs and crappy Trump ties?

DeleteAfraid to post the link for some reason? does it come from some propaganda site?

Delete"The DDD (dishonest, deceiving, disgusting) U.S. mainstream media is freaking out, saying that the Chinese communist regime will be upset because Trump spoke on the phone with the President of Taiwan. This is actually excellent that he spoke with Taiwan - very, very good!
ReplyDeleteThe world should stop being such cowards regarding the Chinese regime and should stop taking orders from this barbaric regime, such as obeying orders in regards to who the U.S. President is permitted to speak with on the phone and having the U.S. President tell the Dalai Lama to enter through the back entrance of the White House when meeting the President."

Good news but....
ReplyDeletethere is always a but....
It's only a reprieve.
As soon as President Twit takes office that pipeline will go through.
Trump owns stock in the parent company that owns Energy Transfer Partners.
This decision will be reversed and the rights of our native Americans will be trampled once more.
If I were them, I would regroup, get a ton of lawyers and start filing papers right now regarding treaty violations to attempt to get this in stone before Cheeto Hitler can do anything to reverse it .
Even if Trump doesn't reverse this, the pipeline has to cross the river somewhere and I'm sure it will be finished. Wherever it crosses, and everywhere downstream from there, will have to deal with the problems. No permit should have been given for any of it. How come all these pipelines are almost finished before we hear about them? Is big media in collusion with big oil?
ReplyDeleteTrump will approve XL too. I think he also has stock in some company connected with that also.
DeleteAll you injun lovers don't celebrate too early. When Trump becomes president in January we will continue our pipeline and those of you in the Army Corps of Engineers who are obstructing Trump's business dealings, let it be known you are on President Trump's shit list.
ReplyDeleteThey were also on G.W.'s "shit list" as he ignored their repeated warnings that the New Orleans levees could not withstand a Category 5 hurricane.
DeleteYou really want similar results??
(Assuming your post isn't sarcasm. It's getting hard to tell in today's world.)
Well, you are a special kind of bigoted asshole, aren't you?
Delete"injun lovers"? Fuck you! I have way more love and respect for our Native Americans than the nitwit white trash like you.
DeletePucker up and kiss that big fat obese trump ass. It's what you do best. Can I send you some chapstick?
now now now. Cheer up, the counters are counting, there is hope in the air. And lean in for justice kids. Maybe just maybe history will be made and exercised on the 19th. The facts and truth are there.
ReplyDeleteAll of you in favor of a recount remember this:
Delete“It’s so great our enemies are making themselves clear so that when we get into the White House, we know where we stand,”
-Omarosa
Revenge is mine sayeth the Trumps.
Whoa I am really scared by Omarosa's threat, where has the bully, token black woman disappeared to? Back to the swamp?
DeleteWe already know that trump is our enemy, maybe he is the one that needs to know where we stand.
That bag-licker bitch omarosa sucked his tiny orange pecker! Didn't he "fire" her before??
DeleteThis is just a lull.
ReplyDeleteWhat usually happens is the protesters go home, whatever it is disappears from the news, after things settle, then things are reversed and whatever it is goes through before anyone can organize and ramp things up again to stop it.
Happens over and over.
The rich and powerful always get their way.
"Elton John is going to be doing our concert on the mall for the inauguration," Mr Scaramucci said.
ReplyDeleteSir Elton John will not perform at Donald Trump's presidential inauguration, a spokeswoman for the singer has said.
Well what's it going to be Donald?
http://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-38079876
But, but , but Elton John promised to play his famous song: "Tiny Fingers".
DeleteThe current route has been denied, forever or just for the winter.
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling the pipeline will be built in the "dark of night", when "no one is looking", especially since trump is going to make money on the deal.
Army Corps of Engineers

Another department that trump will try to eliminate.
Look who just crawled out of the swamp to bring tidings and good joy!!!

Ministry Of Propaganda: Dick Cheney Tells CNN 'We Don't Need You Guys Anymore' Because Trump Has Twitter
Former Vice President Dick Cheney recently suggested President-elect Donald Trump’s social media skills meant that the American people no longer needed the news media.
At the Reagan National Defense Forum, CNN’s Barbara Starr asked the former vice president if Trump’s casual tone on Twitter was dangerous.
“I do think you need to be careful,” Cheney admitted. “But he’ll learn as he goes along. I think he is putting some brains and good people with him. I am a big fan of [Vice President-elect] Mike Pence.”
“I think one of the reasons people get so concerned about the tweets is it’s sort of a way around the press,” he said. “It’s modern era, modern technology. He’s at the point where we don’t need you guys anymore.
”
Pausing a moment for audience laughter, Cheney added: “I apologize.”

Very grateful to the vets. It's too bad that is what it took for the a-holes to agree to stop. It was all about the optics with the vets. All the GOP care about are the vets.
ReplyDeleteI like this. Yes, thank you vets. You all still protecting us citizens. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteRealizing how the US Government works I now see them doing something like running the pipeline right through their reservation, you know, just to teach them a lesson.
ReplyDeleteI doubt this is really over.
My son is there with a bunch of Vets from Colorado..they aren't leaving anytime soon
ReplyDeleteIt will never be over. Greed and control. To a handful of mentally deranged and very dangerous beings, it is ALL that matters.
