Donald Trump can't shut down his so-called "charity" while there is a lawsuit pending so he decides to defend it instead.

Courtesy of The New York Daily News:

Donald Trump might have jumped the gun on calling it quits for his namesake foundation.

The President-elect announced late Saturday afternoon that he would dissolve the Donald J. Trump Foundation "to avoid even the appearance of any conflict with my role as President," adding he intends to "continue to pursue my strong interest in philanthropy in other ways."

But Amy Spitalnick, the press secretary for New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, told the Daily News in a statement Monday evening that Trump can't simply fold his controversy-embroiled foundation when he pleases.

"The Trump Foundation is still under investigation by this office and cannot legally dissolve until that investigation is complete," Spitalnick said, declining to reveal any details about the probe. "The Foundation's fundraising activities remain suspended following the AG's notice of violation earlier this year."

Oops.

So since he cannot rid himself of the stench of his non-charity, Trump instead decides to lie about it on Twitter.

Okay remember, if Trump says it, tweets it, or has a spokesperson say it on his behalf, chances are very good that it is a lie.

And yep, so is this:

"Although Donald Trump has described himself as an “ardent philanthropist,” he has only donated $3.7 million to his own foundation. In comparison, a wrestling company has given Trump’s foundation $5 million. He ranks among the least charitable billionaires in the world."

In fact we already know that Trump has used his charity as a kind of personal piggy bank, using it to settle a lawsuit, and to buy himself a picture. Of himself.

Also in our edition of hilariously incorrect tweets from Donald Trump is this one taking credit for President Obama's economy.
Actually the economy has been improving steadily for most of Obama's eight years.

We will probably not see what impact his presidency has for almost a year into it.

At which time I am confident he will blame any bad news on the previous administration.

He hasn't donated to his charity since 2008. And little of that donated money has ever made its way to real charities. He's used it as a bank to help himself.

Also, this charity is peanuts as charities go. It's dinky. He thinks he can get rid of the charity and make people feel he's done enough to divest himself of his conflicts of interest. No way. And my bet is that he only chose to get rid of the charity because a lawyer said to as a way to get out from under the NY attorney general's thumb.

He will drag his feet on diverifying those companies also, too. It will be just like with his taxes. He never did show them, and he will be working his companies and the Apprentice gig all the while pretending to be president. Lucky for him he is a repub. otherwise McConnell and his fellow crooks would have his hide.

The only names on his foundation as far as personnel goes are his and his kids'. The foundation didn't need a real staff. They didn't even do any work. I can't recall exactly what I read, but there was a blurb out there in the news earlier in the year saying something like that Ivanka had logged in less than an hour of time for a year's work on the foundation.

This guy's done a ton of work finding out things we need to know about Trump's money. In this article, he says that in 2014 the Trump kids on the board of directors said they worked a half-hour a week. Yeah, such a big foundation doing so much for others. Joke.

  9. Truth to tell, regarding stock market: there has been a bump up (after steady long-term growth) since the election. It's speculation money. People, gamblers, guessing at what might change--and it's a sure precursor to a "correction" (read: crash).

Leave us alone. You're costing us over ONE MILLION DOLLARS A DAY!

Now we have to put up with your bomb threats

    Yahoo:
Stray bag of toys prompts scare at Trump Tower

NEW YORK (AP) — A stray backpack prompted the partial evacuation of Trump Tower on Tuesday, though bomb squad technicians quickly determined the unattended bag contained children's toys and was harmless.

Video posted online showed people running through the Manhattan skyscraper's public lobby as uniformed police officers waved them toward the exits.

Stephen Davis, the New York Police Department's top spokesman, said the bomb squad gave the "all clear" around 5 p.m. after examining the backpack left near the entrance to Niketown, a store in the building.

President-elect Donald Trump lives in the tower and has his offices there, though he was at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida when the bag was discovered.

His newly appointed press secretary, Sean Spicer, Tweeted that officials were "back to work" following the "false alarm."

Shoppers and visitors to Trump's namesake skyscraper described a chaotic scramble.

"It was hysteria," said Andy Martin, a 16-year-old from the New York City suburb of Huntington. "Police were shouting and telling people to leave."

Trump Tower, in addition to being the president-elect's home and business headquarters, contains residences, restaurants, retail stores — and a lobby that by law is open to the public to visitors daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Police receive about 42 reports every day of so-called suspicious packages, though that number can surge depending on current events. In the days after a pressure cooker bomb exploded earlier this year in New York City, police responded to more than 800 calls of "suspicious packages."

Maria Beckford, visiting New York from her native London, was in Niketown with her 13-year-old son looking to buy a pair of soccer cleats when she said they were told to urgently leave the store.

"We actually had them in his hands but because of everything we just had to leave," she said.

The Trumps only have bachelor's degrees. And Donny and Ivanka switched schools halfway through. Transferring this way is common when people can't get into the colleges they really want to get into. Anyone with a college academic advisor background will tell you so, and so will the average and problem students who transferred.

Well, they also claim Wharton degrees, leaving people thinking they have MBAs. Now the business school at Penn is Wharton, but none of them was smart enough to stay for the MBA. And why should they? They had cushy executive suites waiting for them at age 22, and millions of dollars at their disposal, along with a daddy who spent his life rigging the system.

Trump probably doesn't understand what the word "philanthropy" means. After all, it's not in his usual vocabulary of about 150 words, albeit "the best words." He may have heard someone use the word with regard to charitable giving by rich people and thought that he does that, only his charity is mainly about himself or something that will benefit him most of all.

  24. He is certainly free to release his tax records to prove it. Which he can do even under audit.

What he can't do is dissolve his sham Foundation while it is under investigation by the A. G. of New York.

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/trump-foundation-money-claims_us_58627534e4b0d9a59459096a

"According to a Washington Post report earlier this month, the foundation’s 2015 tax filings confirmed it had transferred income or assets to a “disqualified person” that year (in this case, a “disqualified person” could be Trump himself or a member of his family or business) and had engaged in similar practices in previous years.

Trump also came under fire this year when The Associated Press reported his foundation had donated $25,000 to a political fundraising group associated with Florida’s Republican attorney general, Pam Bondi, in 2013.

The contribution violated laws banning tax-exempt charitable institutions from making political contributions. What’s more, the payment came just days after Bondi announced her office was considering investigating Trump University. (The attorney general ended up abandoning the investigation.)

A spokesman for Trump’s foundation said in a statement in June that the donation was “made in error.” Trump was fined $2,500 by the IRS and has since reimbursed the foundation.

In 2014, Trump’s charity made its largest donation of the year to a foundation associated with Citizens United, the conservative group best known for its fight against campaign finance restrictions. Trump’s foundation handed over $100,000 to the foundation, which was pursuing legal action against New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman ― a Democrat who also happened to be investigating Trump University at the time."

He claims he's closing it to avoid conflict of interest. Yet he hires his Trump business attorney for a special, made up position. Why? Probably because the guy knows the Trump business interests so well and can negotiate to favor THEM over our nation.
