Here I am thinking that nothing, and I mean NOTHING, can get me into the holiday spirit. But then I forgot about these two.

In 2008 this country got perhaps one of the greatest gifts in its short history.

So instead of lamenting the loss of that gift, instead perhaps we should simply take pride in knowing that we lived in time when Barack Obama led this great nation.

I don't know what the future may bring, but I know how amazing these past eight years have been.

And I would not have missed them for the world.

Merry Christmas my friends.

    God Jul!

I believe that we have to draw upon the Obamas' radiance and strength in the coming days.
This is a great reflective picture. I will keep it close.

On January 20, 2017, the lights will go out and this nation will enter a very long, very dark tunnel with no sign of a light at the end.

At age 72, I have maybe 10 years left. I grieve for the world my grandsons will live in.

Old Redneck, I'm only 62 but I agree that this horrific nasty bastard Trump will make us wish again for a "steady as she goes" rational person like President Obama.

As much damage as he and the Christian Taliban are planning, we still have a Constitution and Congress, however slim a that comfort level might afford us.

Maybe the disaster of Trump will have far reaching effects for our democracy, and some silver linings may happen.

Til then, and to all my IM colleagues, I wish you great health, good time with family, and a fine holiday.

I turn 75 his coming year and truly worry for our country and ALL Americans.

I just hope we lose Trump quickly once he takes his oath of office. Come to think of it - I hope God forbids him from even doing that!

I see him as Hitler II or Satan himself and worry as to the fact he could lead us into war within our own country and/or the expansion of war in the middle east!

We most assuredly don't want him handling nuclear bombs!

May he have a massive stroke or heart attack and succumb to a very painful death!

Old Redneck said the lights will go out at the White House on January 20th but thanks to Immoral Minority we will have each other for the next four years.

Pray that we will not go to war over #NOTMYPRESIDENT'S ego.

    Merry Christmas to everybody.

Gryphen please don't post the next four years White House Christmas message. I don't want to see or hear Boris and Natasha, especially since we don't understand Natasha's Russian accent.

Ivanka is his first lady so she'll be doing the videos with him. She speaks english just fine, but I'm sure we still won't care what she has to say.

Cannot imagine the trashy, classless Christmas greeting from Don the con and Melania. Or their CHristmas tree adorned with Trump ornaments. I love the Obamas and am ashamed of the horrors to come under a Trump administration.

    1. the christmas greeting from donald was just a screen grab of him walking past a christmas tree on stage somewhere, with his tiny fist in the air. no family, just him.

I so agree! Merry Christmas to both of them!

The Trumps will never be able to measure up to the Obama's kindness, their leadership and the fact they are honest, respectful and loving people!

We had a great 240 year run as an example of one of the world's finest democracies. Isn't it nice to know that you were alive during what was the apex of that run?

    1. It's kind of weird, but I think our democracy was born in the year of the Fire Monkey and it was killed in the year of the Fire Monkey.
      Weird.

Gryphen has said it perfectly. And especially the part about being proud of having lived during the time of this point in our history with Barack Obama as president. There are a handful of things I have dreamed of having happen during my lifetime. One is to see the Cleveland Browns win a Super Bowl (they had championships but those occurred before the forming of the SB), but mostly I've wanted this for my season ticket-holding dad who never lets his hope die out. A first woman pres is something I think I will see. Well, I can say that right now. we'll see what happens. But Barack Obama taking his oath of office--amazing moment, and of course the past eight years haven't been without some missteps, but it has been an eight years to take great pride in.

  14. agreed on how lucky we are to have lived through the remarkable obama presidency. i hope we'll still see him, after some much needed rest, as an active player for the things he campaigned for. i'm really just going to miss all of them, including the pooches. merry merry christmas to you, too!
