President of Philippines says that Donald Trump offered support for his wholesale slaughter of drug dealers in phone call. Well isn't that nice?

Good luck with murdering your citizens.

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte says President-elect Donald Trump wished him luck with his controversial campaign against drugs, a campaign which international bodies say includes extrajudicial killings.

According to Duterte, the conversation occurred late Friday, when he called Trump to offer congratulations.

The talk, in which both sides invited the other to visit, was described by one of Duterte’s aides as a “very engaging, animated conversation,” the Associated Press reported.

A video released by Duterte’s aide showed the strongman leader smiling while on the phone with Trump, talking about enhancing bilateral ties.

In a part of the conversation that wasn’t aired, however, Duterte says Trump “was wishing me success in my campaign against the drug problem.”

“He understood the way we are handling it and I said that there's nothing wrong in protecting a country," Duterte said, commenting on his heavy-handed tactics.

“It was a bit very encouraging in the sense that I supposed that what he really wanted to say was that we would be the last to interfere in the affairs of your own country,” he said.

It was unclear whether Trump explicitly said he approved of Duterte’s tactics, and Trump has yet to confirm Duterte's account of the conversation.

Yes it is entirely possible that Trump had no idea that Duterte had murdered over 4,000 suspected drug dealers without benefit of trial when he made the comments of support.

But then again since this is a guy who ran for office with the promise of kicking out millions of Mexican immigrants, and targeting Muslims due to their religion, perhaps he did.

Make no mistake - Trump endorsed Duterte's treatment of drug addicts as well -

"Duterte has invoked the Holocaust to defend his war on drugs. “Hitler massacred 3 million Jews. Now, there are 3 million drug addicts,” he said in September. “I’d be happy to slaughter them.”"

Trump won'the be dub misting a budget for 2017 either, further clouding exactly what he and his cronies are doing. We'll be lucky if the US is even around in 4 years...

"The greatest problem of our future is not political; it is not economic; it is not even rational. It’s the battle of fact versus fiction."

"The website’s publications claims that sexism and high rates of sexual assault aren’t real.“Rape is not a generic term for any action that makes you feel uncomfortable.” The report also makes the popular conservative argument that “government essentially trains women to believe they are victims.”
"The message of the proposed Turning Point USA event, especially one that is hosted in an actual safe space, is that students who have experienced trauma or oppression in some form are childish and need to “get over” discrimination, bias, and trauma.
The handbook also suggests holding an “affirmative action bake sale,” in which students create a sign showing white people must pay the most for baked goods, followed by Asian people, Latino people, black people, and Native Americans."

Everything we've heard about Duterte is real. Everything we've ever heard about their politicians has been for real. I love the Philippine people (my husband's family is from the Phils.), but the corruption is ever-present and Duterte's solution is to kill people and he will kill many more. If Trump didn't realize this when he spoke to Duterte, it is yet another sign of how stupid he is and how he is not taking the transition seriously, but I think he knew and didn't blink an eye when he learned what he knows about Duterte.

Here's an example of how easy it is to manipulate unsophisticated people. In a conversation today, our son talked about friends of his son, all 21 years old, who had been real Bernie Sanders' supporters last spring but now they thought that Trump was a better choice than the alternative, Hillary Clinton. When our son asked them "Why," they said that it was because of the emails. And we know that there never was a there there with the emails. Smoke and mirrors and lies galore. Because these young people, totally inexperienced politically and with no knowledge of history or of how the world works, had to give up their hero, they switched wholeheartedly to the other extreme and supported Trump. It's how the lies work. Hitler was a master at it and I think that Trump has been trained to follow in his footsteps. We, the sentient and informed people who voted for Hillary Clinton because we care about saving the future for our children and grandchildren, lost.
