Happy New Year IMers!

I am not going to lie, as fucked up as 2016 was I am even MORE worried about what 2017 holds in store.

Vladimir Putin will be the new president, Donald Trump will be his first lady, and I fear that everything President Obama accomplished in these last eight years is in danger of being stripped away.

I literally almost feel going into this new year like one of those teenage girls in the slasher flick who puts her hand on the door of the abandoned cabin in the woods only to hear this sound.

Oh well at least we have each other.

Your concerns echo mine, Gryph, but we can't hide under the bed. I am so thankful for this blog where we can discuss matters and go forth in hope!

  3. If not "Happy" then have a "Fighting New Year" everybody. You are not alone.

Rob Rogers is an excellent political cartoonist (for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. I look forward to his cartoons every day). While 2017 will ring in the "Reign of Drumpf", I hope that it will be a serious wake up call to the sane, sensible, intelligent Americans who will do everything possible to prevent the misogynistic, racist, xenophobic, narcissistic bully from implementing the plans outlined in his campaign. I SO wish that Barack Obama could have run for a third term - A girl can always dream, can't she??!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR! And yes, we have each other.

Kurt Eichenwald: Fox News Is As Big A Liar As Trump

We have a President-elect who has been treated completely differently from anybody else. The press has unfortunately gotten into this thing where they're afraid of propaganda outlets like Fox News, coming in and calling them biased.

Still Not Learning: Politico's Sexist Post-Election Coverage Of Hillary Clinton

Can you imagine them writing a headline like that for a male candidate?

The responses were swift and unforgiving:

On January 20, the USofA will enter a very long, very dark tunnel with no hint of a light at the end.

Meanwhile, there is a bit of good news on January 1:

-- Joe Arpaio is no longer sheriff of Maricopa County, AZ. He likely will never hold another public office and he may go to federal prison.

-- Don Cooper (D) was sworn in as governor of NC. The NC legislature still is under the control by the Forces of Evil but at least Cooper can stick his finger in the dike.

    1. Cooper filed in court against the legislature and a judge blocked their quickie fascist hogtying law from going into effect.

Cooper should have filed against both laws.

  10. I fear we will be learning a harsh lesson at a terrible cost.

The BananaRepublicans will strip everything Obama did, as well as our natural resources and our rights.

Those that are capable will learn the harsh lesson that votes matter and that voting Republican is not in their best interest.

But it will be a hard lesson come to late to save this country. It will be a long, terrible fight to try to restore what TrumPutin will have stripped from this country and the people.

Some will never get it, turning a blind eye and deaf ear to the reality that supports the facts that contradict the lies of the administration.

Sometimes you just can fix stupid.

Hopefully the next four years can teach enough capable of learning to turn the government back to the people so we can start to fix it. And the lesson, hopefully, will stick long enough.

If the next four years can get my Mother to vote Democratic (she'll never change her registration), then there is hope.

Don't feed the trolls!
It just goes directly to their thighs.
