John D. Gartner, a practicing psychotherapist of John Hopkins University Medical School has diagnosed Donald Trump. And it's as bad as you imagine.

Courtesy of US News:

John D. Gartner, a practicing psychotherapist who taught psychiatric residents at Johns Hopkins University Medical School, minces as few words as the president in his professional assessment of Trump.

"Donald Trump is dangerously mentally ill and temperamentally incapable of being president," says Gartner, author of "In Search of Bill Clinton: A Psychological Biography." Trump, Gartner says, has "malignant narcissism," which is different from narcissistic personality disorder and which is incurable.

Gartner acknowledges that he has not personally examined Trump, but says it's obvious from Trump's behavior that he meets the diagnostic criteria for the disorder, which include anti-social behavior, sadism, aggressiveness, paranoia and grandiosity. Trump's personality disorder (which includes hypomania) is also displayed through a lack of impulse control and empathy, and "a feeling that people ... don't recognize their greatness.

"We've seen enough public behavior by Donald Trump now that we can make this diagnosis indisputably," says Gartner. His comments run afoul of the so-called Goldwater Rule, the informal term for part of the ethics code of the American Psychiatric Association saying it is wrong to provide a professional opinion of a public figure without examining that person and gaining consent to discuss the evaluation. But Gartner says the Trump case warrants breaking that ethical code.

I work in the mental health industry but I am not a psychotherapist nor really qualified to diagnose somebody, especially from a distance.

However everything that Dr. Gartner says certainly rings true.

And if it is accurate that means we have a VERY, VERY serious problem.

It is important to note that malignant narcissism is a term that is not officially recognized in the DSM V, and that a more accurate diagnosis of similar symptoms would likely yield a diagnosis of antisocial personality disorder and narcissistic personality disorder combined.

To get an accurate idea of how that diagnosis might present itself, think of Patrick Bateman from "American Psycho."

Yes, THAT Patrick Bateman.

So should we be worried?

Fuck yeah we should be worried.

This is more than likely the most unhinged lunatic that we have EVER put into the White House.

And if at this point you STILL think things are somehow going to be fine, then not only are you ignoring everything that we are seeing for ourselves about Trump right now, but perhaps YOU have a mental illness as well.

Speaking of mental illness, has anyone visited c4p lately? I did early this morning for the first time in months and are their numbers ever down! Just the maybe twenty resident crazies.

All in the name of the Lord, still spewing their un-Christian nonsense. Holy crap.

    2. “It is unethical to diagnose someone who is not your patient—you lack too much necessary information to make a clear distinction about qualifying behaviors.” About relying on observation of public behaviors, “we only know his public persona, and while convincing, there may be much more going on of which we are unaware.”
A formal diagnosis is a “serious matter” that requires “personal interaction, formal and informal assessment and evaluations, personal history taking, and reviewing medical history.” Being that thorough with a public figure who is not a patient is just not possible, she said. So the Doc is practicing quackery

Don thee Con aka Traitor Trump is mentally ill, and it is a national disgrace that the Repubs voted for him. The GOP leaders could have stopped this, they could have stopped Traitor Trump from being nominated. The electoral college could have stopped him, by not confirming him.

McCain blasts Bannon placement on National Security Council

      By Burgess Everett

      01/29/17 11:52 AM EST

John McCain is harshly criticizing the elevation of White House strategist Stephen Bannon to President Donald Trump's National Security Council, calling the move "radical" because it minimizes the role of the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of staff.

“I am worried about the National Security Council. Who are the members of it and who are the permanent members? The appointment of Mr. Bannon is something which is a radical departure from any National Security Council in history," McCain said on "Face the Nation" on CBS on Sunday morning."

One thing encourages me: Much of official (and unofficial) Washington agrees that Week One of the Trump administration was among the most alarming in the history of the American presidency -- and that Trump may be seriously unhinged.

As the highly-respected Washington Post columnist Ruth Marcus points out (below), you don’t have to disagree with Trump’s policies to be rattled to the core by his bizarre behavior. She says many congressional Republicans privately express concerns that range from apprehension to outright dread.

She also reveals that in a meeting last week with The Post editorial board, Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah), chair of the House Oversight Committee, said he was weighing legislation to require presidents to undergo an independent medical examination, including for mental health. Chaffetz cautioned that he wasn’t “talking about some of the rhetoric that’s flying around” about Trump. Still, he said, “If you’re going to have your hands on the nuclear codes, you should probably know what kind of mental state you’re in.”

So why am I encouraged? Because the adults in the room might put the baby back into his crib before the baby starts a nuclear war. I urge all of you to read the 25th Amendment to the Constitution. Today. Robert Reich

Steve Bannon personally overruled DHS decision not to include green card holders in travel ban: CNN

Steve Bannon, a senior adviser to President Donald Trump, personally overruled a decision by the Department of Homeland Security not to include green card holders in the president’s temporary ban on travel from Muslim countries.

Protests erupted at airports across the country over the weekend after DHS agents began enforcing an executive order signed by Trump by detaining legal permanent residents who were returning from abroad. On Saturday, a federal judge stayed the detentions and ordered the green card holders to be released, but CNN reported that the mayhem could have been avoided if the White House had listened to the guidance of DHS lawyers in the first place.

Documents obtained by CNN showed that DHS initially determined that “lawful permanent residents are not included and may continue to travel to the USA.”

But Bannon personally intervened to counter the guidance from DHS lawyers.

“The White House overruled that guidance overnight, according to officials familiar with the rollout,” the CNN report said. “That order came from the President’s inner circle, led by Stephen Miller and Steve Bannon. Their decision held that, on a case by case basis, DHS could allow green card holders to enter the US.”

The decision led Mother Jones columnist Kevin Drum to conclude that the chaos caused by Trump’s executive order had been part of the White House plan.

“Whatever else he is, Steve Bannon is a smart guy, and he had to know that this would produce turmoil at airports around the country and widespread condemnation from the press,” Drum wrote. “In cases like this, the smart money is usually on incompetence, not malice. But this looks more like deliberate malice to me. Bannon wanted turmoil and condemnation. He wanted this executive order to get as much publicity as possible. He wanted the ACLU involved. He thinks this will be a PR win.”

Also after regular business hours, were they hoping to keep people in detention over the weekend?

This also over shadowed another VERY IMPORTANT bit on news: appointing Bannon as permanent member of the National Security Council, the main group advising the president on national security and foreign affairs while dumping Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff !!!!!

Sarah Kendzior Dissects How The Extremists Are Taking Over The White House

Sarah Kendzior, brilliant journalist and expert in the areas of kleptocracies and authoritarian regimes, joined MSNBC this morning to discuss the latest terrifying changes to our government.

She summed it up in one short sentence:
"Trump is basically the 'Celebrity Apprentice'"

It's not clear he himself is smart or adept enough to do conceive of this. He's just the public face for fringe right wing ideology given far too much leeway against checks and balances by the Republican majority. From Bannon labeling the media as the "opposition party" to Giuliani's admission that the ban IS in fact a "Muslim ban" to the continual violations of the Constitution by the White House staff, they count on Trump's bluster and lack of political skills to give them cover to essentially remake the country.

She states that "we must continue to speak up." Considering how many nationwide protests are planned for today alone, it looks like we are speaking up. We must keep it up.

Conservative CNN contributor Ana Navarro on Sunday shamed Republicans — like former Gov. Jan Brewer (R-AZ) — for defending President Donald Trump’s ban on travelers from seven Muslim countries.

“This is one where as exhausted as they may be, Republicans need to appeal to their sense of conscience, to their principles, to what is right and wrong, to American values and they need to speak up,” Navarro told a CNN panel. “Folks may want to tell us this is not a Muslim ban. I’ll tell you who thinks it’s a Muslim ban. Muslims think it’s a Muslim ban, those who want a Muslim ban — like [son of Gen. Michael Flynn] little boy Flynn and David Duke, the former KKK leader, are celebrating it as a Muslim ban.”

“That was a lot to take in,” Brewer quipped in reply. “People in America want to be secure and safe. And with the ban, I think it’s perfectly fine to put it on a pause and do the complete vetting.”

According to the former Arizona governor, it is not fair to call Trump’s executive order a “Muslim ban” because he has not barred Muslims from every country.

“I believe that the administration probably has high intelligence reports that these countries that he has named, there’s a danger there,” Brewer opined. “And he promised the people of America, of the United States, that he was going to keep us safe.”

Navarro noted that the Trump administration had refused to consult with Department of Homeland Security experts before enacting the travel ban.

“This should be very worrisome to everyone, including my party, that the Department of Homeland Security was not consulted,” Navarro said. “That department expressed concern about it being implemented on legal permanent residents and got overridden by people in the White House who are not national security experts.”

“This should not be done with folks with no experience and nothing but campaign promises,” she added.

    1. Actually, the military is likely the ones to most recognize the danger and act.

Trump and his regime may have opened the door for the U.S.'s first military coup. They may just decide to take remove him from power.

      “Extreme vetting” yea right.

I read where one of the questions is “what do you think of trump?” How many American citizens would be ban if they answered truthfully?

When asked why Pakistan was not on the list? They gave some lame answer like we might be adding it in the future.

Bannon was a naval officer for 7 years, in the late 1970s and early 1980s, and he knows more than the chairman of the Joint Chiefs, give me a break!! WE ARE NOT STUPID!!!!

McCain blasts Bannon placement on National Security Council

....White House press secretary Sean Spicer defended the reshuffling, which makes Bannon's presence permanent on the panel and changes Dunford's from mandatory to optional. Spicer said that the new structure will "streamline" decision-making and praised Bannon, a former naval officer, as someone with a "tremendous understanding of the world and the geopolitical landscape that we have now.".....

    President Trump’s First Defeat

The immigration order creates an international mess—and a political embarrassment.

........... White House aides briefing the press on Saturday afternoon claimed they had worked for weeks with key officials in the relevant agencies, but there were few signs of that. The Department of Homeland Security first said the ban applied to green card holders (i.e. permanent legal residents); then walked it back. Aides later said that green card holders would have to submit to a consular interview before exiting the United States, but nobody has explained exactly how that works. And the top State Department official in charge of consular affairs, veteran Foreign Service officer Michele Bond, was fired last week.

The Trump administration also seemed surprisingly unprepared to argue its case in court. During her hearing, Judge Donnelly reportedly asked the government’s lawyers whether they considered if those detained—about 200 people, in the ACLU’s estimation—would suffer harm if they were sent back to their home countries. When they didn’t come up with a persuasive answer, she responded, "I think the government hasn't had a full chance to think about this.
    "
..... Judge Donnelly’s stay is only temporary; she made no ruling on whether Trump’s executive order is unconstitutional, as the ACLU claims. And her ruling has no impact on those who have yet to board flights to the United States, and will presumably be barred from doing so. Presidents are usually granted broad authority in setting immigration policy, and the Trump administration can probably retool its order even if the courts take further action.

But on Saturday night, for at least a few hours, the president’s opponents tasted a rare victory. How he’ll react to that is anyone’s guess.

More evidence that trump is a bumbling moron and is unfit to be president.

‘A nightmare come true’: Trump’s refugee ban exiles two persecuted Christian families back to Syria

President Donald Trump’s executive order banning Syrian refugees from entering the U.S. has forced two Christian families escaping the war-torn country to return to Damascus despite months of planning
    .
According to NBC10, the families, made of up two brothers along with their wives and two children, were pulled aside by Customs and Border Protection officials after arriving in Philadelphia where they were supposed to meet with family members.
Instead, following new rules implemented by Trump’s Friday executive order, the families were placed back on Qatar Airlines and shipped back to Syria where an uncertain fate awaits them.

Said family member Joseph Assali of Allentown, “This is like a nightmare come true. They’re all Christian citizens and the executive order was supposed to protect Christians fleeing persecution.”

According to Assali, the family had already gone through the process of obtaining visas and green cards months before Trump was elected. While an immigration attorney was summoned to the airport to assist, he arrived too late..........

Interesting MI is not on the list considering metro Detroit has the largest Arab population in the USA and has border crossings with Canada. However the AG is a republican and running for Governor next year. Wouldn’t want to offend all those trump supporters.

The president does not make new law or any law. He enforce the laws already there in the book. It is absolutely right that he has to enforce the laws. The other presidents chose what law they like to enforce an it is wrong.
American citizens - even they are born here, if they violate the laws they will be put in jail many years away from their family. It is exactly the same as the criminalillegal immigrant(has no right to be here at the first place). Did anybody have problem with that???? It is hypocrite!

Reading the description of a malignant narcissist type personality was an aha moment for me in understanding why DJT does the things he does. A MN enjoys the pain of others, and has no capacity for empathy. This explains hoe DJT could wave off the "inconvenience" that some travellers who were detained experienced, including a 5 year old boy kept from his mother, and say that his self-described ban was going very well, and that everything is working out fine.

It also explains his disdainful treatment of his wife in public - what is it like behind closed doors?

I immediately thought go Christian Bale in "American Psycho," too, when I read the article. Donald Trump even tries to do his hair in similar Wall Street fashion. I love this movie for many reasons, but one is that it truly puts us in the point of view of a person wth this illness, and it is a truly terrifying place to be. If a person such as this has power and plenty of sycophants to do his bidding, as DJT does, it is good reason to be kept up at night wondering what is going to happen next.

So I'm guessing the marching and rallies don't cause DJT cognitive dissonance. He must see us as people with problems, who are weak and misguided, and just don't share his vision of himself as supreme, and his vision of the world's issues as correct and to be accepted by the people. How will he continue to cope with peaceful protests and rallies, I wonder, and what will he do when necessary acts of civil disobedience are committed, especially since he sees himself as the supreme dispenser of law and order, and he will have Sessions in the Justice Department to do his bidding?

I keep waiting and praying for an impeachable offence. I was shocked when I was talking to my saintly mother about this, and she said she keeps hoping and praying for him to (die). I was shocked, but I wonder how many across the country secretly harbour this dream... I would rather he face the shame of his actions and see him sent to prison for acting against our constitution. This would be a better ending to a bad chapter in American history than to make a martyr of him for is followers to worship for the rest of their days.

Not president Trump. John Gartner should check his mental illness.
How many important docs. related to million, million dollars Mr. Trump signed every day? Does Gartner know? If he made a single mistake, what price he had to pay, how may building would be collapsed?
It is ridiculous! He - Mr. Gartner should check his mental illness instead of Mr. Trump.
