New Trump team strategy, hacks happen every election period and this one did not change the outcome.

Damn do I dislike this woman!

Courtesy of The Hill:

Instead of focusing on the crux of the report — that Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a multifaceted campaign aimed at helping Trump take the White House — members of the president-elect's team emphasized Russia's failure to actually disrupt the country's democracy and influence election results.

Incoming Chief of Staff Reince Priebus said Sunday he thinks Trump accepts the findings of the intelligence community.

"He is not denying that entities in Russia were behind this particular hacking campaign," Priebus told "Fox News Sunday."

But, he alleged, that's not new.

"It happens every election period," he said.

Okay that is simply not true.

But even if it were true it would not matter unless the people doing the hacking released that information out into the new media in order to benefit the candidate they wanted to win.

Here is more of Kellyanne's spin on this topic:

She said foreign entities hacking the U.S. is not new and sought to pivot from discussing election meddling, alleging that under President Obama there have been hacks of the Department of Defense and Department of State.

"Very concerning," she said of such cyber attacks on NBC's "Meet The Press," noting there was " very little punishment." Americans should know the country is "woefully unprepared for cybersecurity in the 21st century," she added.

At the same time, she maintained that Russia's attempt to meddle in the presidential race had failed.

"They did not succeed. They did not succeed to embarrassing this country on the world stage," she said.

"They did not succeed in throwing the election to Donald Trump. That's very clear in this report."

As I have mentioned before that last part is not even mentioned in the report.

So to sum up the Trump team's talking points are, there is nothing new about this, it did not change the outcome of the election, and the news media is blowing this all out of proportion.

It may be a little challenging, but remember THESE are the REPUBLICANS, talking about RUSSIA.

Russia was the GOP's go to bogeyman for decades.

But now that they have actually undermined our democratic process we get, "Move on, nothing to see here."

And they are not alone, Trump voters seem to be in total agreement:

“Sour grapes,” explained Bob Marino, 79, weighing in on the recent spycraft bombshell from the corner table of a local McDonald’s.

“Sour grapes,” agreed Roger Noel, 65, sitting next to him.

“Bunch of crybabies,” Reed Guidry, 64, offered from across the table.

But Mr. Gubert came to a different conclusion.

“If that’s what it took,” he said, “I’m glad they did it.”

And that is how America was taken over by a hostile foreign government boys and girls.

NOT after a long and destructive world war, but with a few simply hacks, a compliant media, and a complacent electorate.

Of course they did. Lots of Trump supporters were overjoyed whenever another fake Clinton "scandal" was bandied about on the internet. They weren't paying attention to what was really going on and they never tried to listen to what the Clinton campaign was proposing - measures to help the very people who turned out for Trump, people who spent the last eight years accusing President Obama of being a "communist" or a "socialist."

And, took over a dumbed-down portion of our society! Unbelievable! And, Trump is just as inept as many of those Americans that voted for him!

The men and women he has named to his administration (if they are ALL vetted and hearings held on each of them and make it through!?) are going to direct Trump in his decisions. Read about his appointees - they truly are a frightening bunch! More war is ahead of us! And, Putin and Russia will now become our best allies? God forbid! Review our history as to Russia and the life of KGB agent, V. Putin!

We are being led to slaughter!

I am with you. And I feel like I just keep saying this when debating people, but in this particular case I cannot accept that there was a reason to vote for the GOP candidate. The fact that he has stolen powerless people's money and even livelihoods from them and has assaulted so any women is appalling. Forget everything else. Those two things alone make him a criminal and a debased POS. You don't vote for someone who does these things. There is no acceptable reason.

If I believe Trump is absolutely dangerous to the country I love, then of course I want him out of there, and I don't care how it happens. Every time I hear Trump's latest and see how the GOP in the new Congress are already operating to shut down what is right, I wish them all dead. And when I see Conway, who like others is happily doing all she can to aid and abet, I wish her dead too. And when I hear a Trump voter speak and let it be known that s/he accepts all of Trump's behavior, I wish them some really bad karma--and I know it will come soon when Trump starts taking away all the things they've taken for granted.

"Although the Seattle Tribune appears to be the digital edition of a real city newspaper, it is simply one of many fake news sites (along with the Boston Tribune and the Baltimore Gazette) that mimics the appearance of real metropolitan news outlets in order to spread hoaxes and generate ad revenue. The Seattle Tribune is the latest front employed by the well known fake news purveyor Associated Media Coverage"

"On 4 January 2017 the Seattle Tribune web site published an article reporting that six individuals protesting the election of Donald Trump were killed in the course of blocking a freeway"

First, Trump tweeted his complaint about MTP not showing all of the Conway interview and said again "dishonest media" this morning at 8:46. MTP had already posted a tweet at 8:17 saying that the entire interview could be watched at the NBC MTP website. Even if Trump had had a cow and this caused MTP to post the whole thing, Trump's tweet should have been reworded--instead, he just let it appear as if nothing had been done to, as he'd have seen it, rectify the situation. Yet, of course, he also included at his Twitter page a link to the interview. Anyone paying attention to the times realized that Todd's people had the whole interview available already.

There was no reason to show the whole thing. This happens a lot. Portions are used, whether with a panel there to discuss things or not. Today, Todd wanted people's responses to a couple things Conway said. That was it. And it was Todd's prerogative. His show was packed with other interviews that deserved to be shown in full or larger part than Conway's. And I watched the whole thing online. At least twice Todd had to call her out and tell her not to "conflate" Trump/Putin/Russia's hacking with other "countries/groups/behaviors" going on. He had to keep interrupting her to get her to answer his questions. He had to remind her "what this investigation is about" on keep her focused. All she wanted to do was spin and deflect. No way in hell should Todd have felt that interview needed to be shown in larger part or in full.

I have been checking Malcolm Nance's Twitter a lot these days. Love when he's a guest on the cable news. I wish that one of these days one of the MSNBC hosts would just let him use the whole hour. On his Twitter he gets so many interesting visitors with tidbits. Michael McFaul, former ambassador to Russia and who's at Stanford, is one. He has also been on cable a lot lately. As Nance says, he and McFaul tried months ago to get people to listen to them re the Russian hacking--people in-the-know were saying it. McFaul is saying today, but I have no details, that Putin is going to pull out of Syria (just two days ago people were insisting he'd stay) and won't be helping Trump with ISIS, that Trump will be on his own. Also, this tweet re Trump's sleazy past is very interesting. Check it out. If you can get the story's print bigger, great:

Nixon was impeached but resigned before the trial. The difference now is that the Democrats controlled both Senate and House back then. With the GOP in control, nothing will be done. The question that Trump and all of his advisors and spokespeople must be asked UNDER OATH is "what did you know and when did you know it?' - the question asked of all Watergate Nixon administration members who testified before the Senate committee so long ago. It was Sen. Howard Baker's question and it needs to be asked again. By the way, the tapes convinced Sen. Baker (R-TN) of Nixon's guilt. Back in the 1970's, there were obviously some Republicans with integrity. Not so now.

I image traitor trump will be busy on twitter slamming Meryl Streep tonight

Streep at golden globes took little fingers donnie down with class and style:

“Streep took things in a much more serious direction, excoriating Trump without mentioning his name in an impassioned speech as she accepted the Cecil B. DeMille Award.

The much-respected actress, who spoke on behalf of Hillary Clinton at this year's Democratic National Convention, said the "performance" that had most stunned her this year was when Trump had mocked a disabled reporter.

"It was the moment when the person asking to sit in the most respected seat in our country imitated a disabled reporter, someone he outranked in privilege, power and the capacity to fight back," Streep said. "This instinct to humiliate, when it's modeled by someone ... powerful, it filters down into everybody's life. Because it kind of gives permission for other people to do the same thing."

Streep also referenced Trump's policies on immigration when she pointedly listed the multicultural heritage of many Hollywood actors.

"Hollywood is crawling with outsiders and foreigners and if you kick them all out, you'll have nothing to watch but football and mixed martial arts, which are not the arts," Streep said, to cheers”.

I loved seeing Streep's speech printed in its entirety in the NYT. (Also her intro by Viola Davis.) And I love that the NYT printed it and had an interview with trump. When Trump later realized, if he has yet, that the Times printed that speech, it must have really pissed him off.

After midnight sometime--the article said early Monday morn--Trump spoke w/ the NYT by phone and said Streep was a Hillary supporter and he wasn't surprised by her and others' comments. He said he hadn't seen/heard the speech. Presumably, then, the paper called him rather than the other way around. Trump likes to make calls when he doesn't want something in tweeting. Now, it's hard to believe that on a Sunday night Melania had anything to do stuck up there in Tweet Tower. It's easy to picture her wanting to see all the dresses, jewels, bodies and hair on the red carpet and on stage. And Trump would have watched, too, at least on and off. But maybe he was actually busy. Okay. But I bet Mel saw and she saw how many people referenced her asshole husband.

I love that, in the days before Trump's nothing in inaugural, there was this big awards show with the artists dissing Trump, that Hillary got standing ovations at the Color Purple, that the Obamas' Friday A-list party rocked, that MO was gorgeous and made a fantastic speech in her red dress, that BO was honored by the military and gave such a good speech, that there will be a telethon on Facebook the day of the inauguration (but I am PO'd about the concert that never took shape--lame), and that so many people waited out in the freezing cold in Chicago to get tickets to BO's final speech. All of these things have shown Trump what a nothing he really is. He has his big rallies of hateful yahoos. So what.

No, hacking of American elections by Russians has not happened before but it happened this time with the intention of changing the outcome of November's election. If Trump and his minions were not so worried about having been caught at it they wouldn't be running around like chickens with their heads cut off ever since the release of the intelligence report.

The hacking worked and it should worry all of us. It should never be allowed to happen again.

The British expressed concern as early as during primary season and they have been tracking communications with Russia by Trump advisors for quite a while. The British are worried as must be all members of NATO! Trump will probably start tweeting rude things about Britain and its leaders as soon as he gets over Meryl Streep's amazing speech at the Golden Globe awards last night.
