President Obama hits 60% in final approval poll.

Courtesy of MSN:

Barack Obama leaves office Friday with six-in-10 Americans approving of his job performance, capping a steady rise that vaults him above the average final mark for modern presidents, a new Washington Post-ABC News poll finds.

By contrast these are Trump's numbers:

The CNN/ORC poll shows 53 percent of Americans view Trump unfavorably, while only 44 percent have a favorable opinion of the incoming president. In the ABC News/Washington Post poll, Trump’s favorable rating is just 40 percent, with 54 percent having an unfavorable opinion.

That, according to The Washington Post, makes Trump the least-popular incoming president of the past 40 years — by a large margin.

Under attack for the last eight years by a relentless Right Wing that worked desperately to undermine his presidency, and he still leaves office with a significantly higher approval rating than the guy they chose to replace him.

Should be a message in there, don't you think?

I could not be more proud of President Obama and First Lady Michelle. They have been an outstanding 'example' to all of us! Truly wonderful people and representatives of our country!

Trump and his wife will never be able to measure up to them and that will drive Trump nuts and deflate his ego horribly! Trump will NOT be able to measure UP to a BLACK man! Makes me smile!

As many have been pointing out on TV all week, BO is young and wants to do more. Even while some other presidents may not have been that much older when leaving office, he appears so much younger (grey hair and all) and vital. This is a highly intelligent and energized man who has no wish to slow down. If he slowed down too much, it's be such a waste. He has so much more left in him to do.

10 years and they are worth 150 million nefer, minimum. You really don't think so? You really REALLY don't think so? Winning two terms as the first black President and being fairly well liked and a good speaker? He has the keys to the bank. 20 million in book deals the first year almost guaranteed.

And yes I know what your response will be.... so I'll save you the trouble:

(in whiney liberal voice) "well I hope they do make that much money, more even, because he is the bestest president we have ever had and he has more than earned it and I just love him so much and blah blah"

And BTW more power too the Obamas as they cash in. Why not? I would, it is the American way. Just don't pretend like that isn't exactly what they are going to do.

OT, but three things about Arlington:

Why couldn't Melania take off those Jackie-wannabe sunglasses even at Arlington as a wreath is being laid at the tomb? I mean, really? She was standing in shade. There was sun shining on some of the men who were over by the wreath and it was coming from an angle that didn't touch her. There was no reason to keep her sunglasses on. Even if she can claim to have very sensitive eyes, when you're in certain situations you remove your hat, if wearing one, and sunglasses.

And where was Barron? He arrived in DC today and was first off the plane. His cousins were at the ceremony. It was too much to ask Barron, First Child as of tomorrow, to also go to the short ceremony?

And did anyone notice how out of breath BLOTUS was as he stood there waiting to place the wreath and after? He was heaving. And what was with the hand he had over his heart? He couldn't stand still, like Pence, and every now and then he'd just tap on his chest. It was weird.

I thought the sunglasses were very tacky also. Melania has the same amount of class as her pos husband. That whole family is completely worthless.

      Delete
    2. Anonymous12:52 PM

She will take her sunglasses off indoors, but I've seen her keep them on, like on the day she voted in the primary. I get that it helps her hide from prying eyes, and she had them on when she got off the plane in DC—even though someone else would have chosen to be visible out of respect for the curiosity of the American people, and also knowing that these first official moments are pics that will become part of history, but it's ridic to almost always have on a huge pair of very dark sunglasses. I saw only one other person outside wearing them at the ceremony, a man who appeared to be Secret Service. And when she came out of the building today to walk down the steps toward where the wreath was, she either had kept them on when indoors or she made the choice to put them back on before going outside just to walk down the stairs and take her place with the other Trumps. She seems to be so caught up in playing at being a model again. She needs to take the f’ing glasses off and demonstrate that she is willing to tolerate a little glare at times when more sensitivity to etiquette is what’s called for.

      Delete
    3. Anonymous1:12 PM

Melania's constant wearing if sunglasses is to shut us all out. Either she thinks she's too good for us peons, or she is an introvert. Since she married Trump and was a model and posed nude, I doubt she's an introvert.

Melanija is a useless bitch anyway. Almost $200 million of taxpayers money is going to keep her living with her communist parents in NYC.... because no communists to live in the White House etc etc.

Useless bitch, the only thing she's good for is dropping her panties and touching herself for the camera. And that ain't saying much.

Let's see if Melania or Pence's wife (I can't remember her name) carry on the good work with military families that Michelle Obama and Jill Biden began. The US military never had it so good as they did under President Obama's leadership.

'But one thing I think that we have overlooked as we see Trump trying to delegitimize others is what I suspect is a feeling he has inside that nothing he’s ever achieved himself has ever been legitimate. This is a person who has never known whether anybody wants to be around him because he’s a person they want to be around or they want to be around his money. And since he’s promoted himself as this glamorous, incredibly wealthy person, that’s the draw he’s always given. So he doesn’t know if he has any legitimate relationships outside of his family, and that’s why he emphasizes family. … He’s always kind of gaming the system—not, in my view, winning on the merits. And even his election was with almost 3 million fewer votes than his opponent. So he has this deep fear that he is himself not a legitimate president, and I think that’s why he goes to such great lengths to delegitimize even the intelligence community, which is the president’s key resource in security, and he’s going to do this demeaning and delegitimizing behavior rather than accept what they have to tell him.'

    CHAAAAA CHING!

    New York Times:
Conflicts that for months have been theoretical are now about to become real — most immediately a possible challenge by the federal government. It owns the building that houses Mr. Trump’s hotel and has granted him a 60-year lease. From the moment he is sworn in as president at noon Friday, Mr. Trump may be in violation of that lease, given a provision that appears to prohibit federal elected officials from renting the Old Post Office building, the Pennsylvania Avenue landmark that houses the hotel, from the government.

Guests at the hotel include foreign diplomats and politicians who could be looking to curry favor with Mr. Trump — but even the act of paying their bills as they check out after the inauguration may open Mr. Trump to a challenge that he has violated the United States Constitution, which prohibits federal government officials from taking payments or gifts from foreign governments.

Members of Mr. Trump’s new cabinet are also staying there this week, as are dozens of big-ticket donors to his presidential election campaign and inauguration. The hotel will also be the site of a prayer breakfast on Friday before Mr. Trump is sworn in. All these bookings mean payments to the Trump Organization for the hotel rooms, meals and other accommodations.

The inaugural parade is traditionally a vast, expanded local parade with high school and college bands, floats, horses, etc. And all Trump wanted was a show of military force? Republicans Refuse To Meet With Their Constituents As Obamacare Repeal Backlash Grows

Congressional Republicans are refusing to be held accountable for the actions that they are taking. The Republicans are hoping that if they avoid public meetings with their own constituents, no one will notice that they have lost their health insurance.

Judging from their behavior, Republicans know that what they are doing is wrong, which is why they are going to such great lengths to avoid voters. If Republicans and Trump take access to health care away from tens of millions of Americans, there will be no safe place to hide. Voters aren’t going to forget who took their health care away.

It isn’t going to all blow over.

Republicans know they are on the wrong side of this issue, which is why they won’t look their constituents in the eyes and tell them the truth.

Congressional Republicans can duck and dodge, but they can’t hide forever from the consequences of repealing the ACA.

It's not uncommon for some to remain for a transition, but the types/ranks of positions and # of 50 is serious stuff. Obama had it together. A really great team.

All the music at the concert sounds the same. Doesn't matter if it's rock or country. It's a bunch of white guys with the same vocal tone and limited range, and many boring songs that go nowhere. The Trumps are sitting there like bumps on logs. (No Ivanka warming daddy's lap and getting him going.) Trump and the audience got into it when Lee Greenwood sang his God Bless the USA (or whatever it's called) and the cameras panned and made it seem like every single person there had been told to memorize the lyrics and sing at the top of their lungs. Then they all started just sitting there staring with dead expressions. Trump started looking at his speech--he's supposed to say something--and every now and then at his phone, and he kept talking to Melania. Been going on for a while now. No one in the family's into the concert. Oh, and that bald Barrack guy's out there talking now and Trump's drinking water (ugly sight, him holding a water bottle to his mouth), so he must be speaking pretty soon.

And no Barron. He was first off the plane today. That was a very planned move that made him the center off attn for a moment, and then he was not at the wreath ceremony with his cousins, who by the way are all younger, and now he's not at the concert. He could have come for a few minutes. And Trump wonders why people wonder if something's wrong.
