Some DC restaurants are donating a portion of the money they make during the inauguration to charities that Donald Trump probably hates.

Courtesy of Buzzfeed:

More than a dozen high-profile DC restaurants have pledged to donate a portion of their inauguration weekend profits to charity and aid organizations, including Planned Parenthood and an organization benefitting immigrants.

Sarah Massey of All In Service, the group organizing the inauguration weekend donations said that the 14 restaurants, bars, and cafes currently listed on the website are just the beginning.

“The team is talking to another dozen businesses right now,” she told BuzzFeed News. “We would love to see the entire DC service industry participate.”

President-elect Donald Trump vowed during the campaign to defund Planned Parenthood and to deport two-to-three million undocumented immigrants.

Participating establishments get to pick from five aid organizations, as well as what percentage of their profits from the weekend of Jan. 20 through 22 they plan to donate.

Now THAT is a good idea!

Personally I think that we can send donations even if we are NOT a DC restaurant that will make money from the inauguration.

Besides Planned Parenthood, there is also Thrive DC, which serves homeless people, Mary's Center, which provides health care and social services to the poor, and Ayuda, an organization that supports immigrants in the DC area.

I think I will donate to Planned Parenthood myself.

Just a more positive way to say "Fuck Donald Trump."

  1. A+ for creativity and positivity in an act of civil disobedience against the inauguration of the first russian spy in our nation's history. and i love the pic you chose - my personal favorite, because i don't have to see his arse-gob full on, and, well you just know he really really hates that pic. shame, you can't take a bad pic of president obama... just sayin'...

Please explain how this is an act of civil disobedience!

The legal definition (as I understand it) is below.

"A symbolic, non-violent violation of the law, done deliberately in protest against some form of perceived injustice. Mere dissent, protest, or disobedience of the law does not qualify. The act must be nonviolent, open and visible, illegal, performed for the moral purpose of protesting an injustice, and done with the expectation of being punished."

The act of donating money in protest of the inauguration of an ASS is NOT violating any laws. It does, however, make a solid statement that would probably tick the thing off if he were capable of recognizing anyone other than those with lots of money.

I love the idea and it will have an even greater effect if the Media gets hold of it and runs with it. Want to make any bets as to which of them will have the nerve?

    2. i know what civil disobedience technically means, and i thank you for the definition. perhaps i should have explained it more precisely, but i get tired of it. i call it civil disobedience because trump neither knows the laws of the land, nor does he respect them - i should be clearer that it is civil disobedience from his perspective. he gets petulant on twitter whenever anyone uses their first amendment rights, whether to demonstrate against him, publicly call him out, parody him on tv - you get the gist. so if he has no understanding or respect for laws, and sees himself as the law - which he does - it is then, to him, an act of civil disobedience. we have to resist as if we are dealing with a toddler. you might still disagree that it qualifies as civil disobedience, but remember, for a long time we have been going down a rabbit hole, and thanks to russia, the fbi, and some other major contributors to donald's "win," we are now in trumpland, a place much scarier than the not-quite-truthfully named wonderland. so things are not as they seem, even if we ourselves and the basics of life haven't changed. i hope the media stops reacting to don's twitter posts, because they are helping to create trumpland. but donald is an autocrat and a tyrant in this cowardly new world because that's how he sees himself, and according to him, his perception is all that matters. problem is the media have rolled with it for so long that his perceptions are becoming normalised, hence trump land and civil disobedience applying, imho, in this simple act of charity.

    3. and i would add, the end of your definition of civil disobedience says that there is an expectation of, or i would more exactly say a willingness to be punished. trump and some of his surrogates have been clear that he keeps an enemies list, and on it goes anyone who even does the slightest thing that he sees as against him. so with no regard for the law of the lmd - and no knowledge of it - he sees anyone who acts out against him as deserving of being punished by him. many who have written about him have said they don't know anyone who holds a grudge and tries to take revenge like he does. of course this is not president material, but we already knew that. many in the military have checked already with military lawyers to make sure they don't have to obey him if an order violates their oath to the constitution. and they don't have to obey him under those circumstances. i don't believe he will have the power to punish those he sees as disobedient to him, but i think he does, so there is the threat there. it's just a matter of seeing it from his petulant toddler perspective. he's a very dangerous petulant toddler now, though.

    4. *i think he thinks he does (sorry, my computer has been wonky, time for its checkup)

    5. and because now that my wheels are turning more on the subject, i don't think we should address him to effectively protest, at least not at this stage. i think his tweets and fake pressers should be ignored - i know that would be hard for the media, because that's all the access he really allows, but i think it should be a given that we are dealing with a toddler and reported that way or not reported at all. and there should be an emphasis on investigative journalism, going around him and embracing fact once again. so how do we protest and resist him effectively? i would say that it's probably a waste to target him - target those who control him, as well as fellow americans that we can win to the side of resistance to his admin. those would be the more effective moves, imho. we are all caught off guard because norms we saw as laws turn out to be just norms - norms that i think pretty much every president bowed to - but norms that either trump is disrespectful of and/or ignorant to. so we are in uncharted waters here, reacting to him and figuring things out in this madness as we go along, which, frighteningly, is also what he's doing. so someone or some entity has to take charce, and i would say it should be that majority of americans who said hell no to him in the voting booth. just how is what we need to figure out so we can stop just reacting all the time.

    7. oh my - be polite, grainne - it's grainne, by the way, and i think sometimes it's easy to forget there's a person with feelings on the other side writing, from wherever... i write lowercase because i have to lie down to type due to a nerve injury. i didn't think i needed to write a polished essay, though as i'm not blogging; i used to write a blog, and then i wrote essays with paragraphs... i am actually a writer, and this is how i daily write my thoughts. who has time to write and polish an essay in a comment? and if you don't want to read it, then be my guest and don't - i don't know what else to say, as no one has ever said that to me before... so my thoughts are invalid because they're stream of consciousness-esque? a bit more organised than stream of consciousness, but not an essay... again, don't read it if you don't want to, but i'm certainly not the only one who writes like this... i'm uncharacteristically gobsmacked.

Trump HATES that photo and has requested that the media refrain from using it.

That's why the anti-Trump blogs are using it.

Trump’s Press Secretary Begs The American People To Stop Mocking Donald Trump

...President-elect Donald Trump’s Press Secretary was practically begging America to stop making fun of the incoming president. Trump isn’t going to find much popular support for his presidency because the majority of voters did not support him.

If Trump continues to act like a narcissistic and petty reality television star instead of a president, he is going to mocked.

One can only imagine the howls of laughter from Republicans if Obama’s press secretary would have gone on national television and complained about the American people making fun of him.

As soon as the lump says or does ANYTHING presidential, then we would consider not mocking him. Since he insists on acting like an unruly 12 year old on steroids, we will mock the fat bastard.

His Press Secretary should also tell the rest of the world to stop mocking Trump.

I can't locate the video right now but I saw one the other day where Taiwan, South Africa and a host of other countries featured Trump impersonators saying stupid things. Not to mention the Trump Rooster in China.

He is an international laughing stock and anyone who doesn't find him infinitely mockable is certainly lacking mental fitness.

Trump Calls All Computers Unsafe And Wants To Take America Back To The Pony Express

Trump rang in the New Year by rejecting modern technology with a pronouncement that all computers are unsafe and vowed that America's most vital communications would be conducted via personal couriers.

...While speaking to reporters before he entered his for-profit New Year’s Eve party, the president-elect dismissed all computers as unsafe, “It’s very important. If you have something really important write it out and have it delivered by courier the old fashioned way. No computer is safe, I don’t care what they say.”

Trump made his comments while continuing to pretend that the identity of the hackers who meddled with the US presidential election remains a mystery.

...A small group of 100,000+ voters in three states just elected their technologically adverse grandfather to be president.

As a consequence, America may go from a global leader to third world banana republic in record time.

Donald Trump Ends The Year Again Disputing U.S. Intelligence On Russian Hacking
The president-elect says he knows a lot about hacking, and hacking is very difficult to prove.

...Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton herself raised the issue of Russia’s involvement during one of the presidential debates. But Trump said it was impossible to know who actually had done the hacking, suggesting it might have been a 400-pound hacker sitting in his bed and, later, that it was someone in New Jersey.

Time for the Adults to go to work tomorrow around the world. The USA people's PAID servants must get to work tomorrow in the People's House and protect Our Constitution, Bill of Rights and what Our Ancestors fought for on this soil and signed with blood and guts. Traitors and Treason is a very serious crime and charge against America.

After this royal screwing of the election it should be made a law that anyone running for the office must have a mental competency exam.
