Springsteen cover band pulls out of inauguration, citing concern over disrespecting The Boss.

Courtesy of Rolling Stone:

If the B-Street Band pledge allegiance to anyone, it's Springsteen, who has repeatedly voiced his anger and disgust at the president-elect. (Forte half-jokingly said of the B-Street Band last week, "I don't even know if they have any politics.") Out of respect for their musical inspiration, they've decided to pull out of this week's event.

"We felt that we had to make it known that we didn't want to seem disrespectful, in any way, shape or form, to Bruce and his music and his band," Forte says. "I don't want to upset them. We owe everything to him and our gratitude and respect to the band is imperative above all else. It became clear to us that this wasn't working and we just had to do what we thought was the right thing to do and that was to pull out."

The group had played the gala twice before to little controversy for President Obama and signed a contract for this year's gig in 2013, long before the presidential nominees were decided. But this year was different.

"As time went by, the complexity of the situation became real immense and intense," Forte tells Rolling Stone. "The band was caught in a hurricane. We didn't see this coming, of course."

Well hey all is not yet lost, they still have Lee Greenwood, Toby Keith, a Rockette or two, Jon Voight, 3 Doors Down, and that America's Got Talent runner up.

Sounds kind of like the lineup for a county fair in the middle of fucking nowhere.

Of course it really doesn't make any difference, nobody is going to be watching anyhow.

  1. Ok, here's a question.

What will Jon Voight actually be doing at the inauguration?. I know he's a rabid republican and an actor but I didn't know he was a musician. Or is it going to be like an RNC convention where they keep panning the camera on the only black dude in the building to make like there are thousands of black dudes there? Will Jon Voight be the designated "entertainer" who keeps getting thousands of camera shots to make up for the fact that Donald has no celebrity friends---which seems to be driving him mad---so its worth it?

And Steven Seagull? He'd be perfect. A creepy freak AND a russian.

He could take on the entire crowd with no hands (because he'd be strumming his guitar) AND grab more pussy than anyone there.

He could always talk to a chair like Clint Eastwood. That was very entertaining.

I take it back. Until now, it's been clear the media seeks to bully only republicans kids. The past several articles about Obamas girls being normal have changed my opinion. Granted, the media is still amoral, from bullying the bushs and Palins to the Obamas. But at least they're nonpartisan.

These are all good people with good parents and good families. How anyone could hypocritically report on young people's lives, pretending they didn't do the same things, is disgusting. The Bushs, Palins and Obamas will always be good parents. And their families are stronger than yours and mine.

How have the Palin's been "good parents"?
The proof-of-the-pudding-is-in-the-eating so to speak and by ANY MEASURE the Palin's have FAILED!
Where are the college degrees, the gainful employment and the community service?
The ONLY things the Palin kids have accomplished are warrants for their arrest and multiple bastard children and get-rich-quick scams, hardly good role models.

I've been seeing an ad on the Daily Kos for "free inauguration tickets" is this normal?

I hope that means his inauguration will be sparsely attended because that would really get under the orange jerk's skin .....

The crowd will include a huge number of protestors - Trump will, of course, skew the numbers as to all being there to support him.

The estimated amount they say will be in attendance is way behind the numbers that appeared for President Obama - both times!

Trump did NOT obtain the majority vote of Americans - even though he keeps saying he surpassed Hillary Clinton. He didn't!!! He's a fucking liar on a daily basis and THIS is going to be our potus? Forget it! He'll NEVER represent me and I'll never call, of refer to him in any other way than "Trump"! I won't even use "Mr." as he demands those around him call him! He's an elitist asshole that has earned 'nothing' from the American people! I have zero respect for him!

Good for the group making this decision. Trump's inauguration is going to be a joke and I'm not wasting my time viewing it.

Two of the TV channels are going to cover D.C. the whole day of the 20th! God forbid! Turn off your TV folks or turn to the movie channels and enjoy a happy day watching those!

Trump does not have the support of the majority in America and his ratings are horrible. He's showing himself to be a fool already as to the job and hasn't even taken the oath of office!

Top House GOPer Heckled With 'Save Our Health Care' Chants At MLK Rally

The House's fourth highest-ranking Republican was heckled during a speech at Martin Luther King Jr. Day rally by attendees protesting the GOP's plans to repeal the Affordable Care Act.

“We may not always agree with one another, but we can come together and find common ground to create change and progress right here in Eastern Washington,” Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) said before being interrupted by chants of “save our health care.”

Twitter user @bdbrownie captured video of the interruption:

    — Brad Brown (@bdbrownie) January 16, 2017

Local TV station KXLY also reported that attendees chanted “liar” at the event.

In a statement to the station, a spokesperson for McMorris Rodgers said in part: “The Congresswoman looks forward to keeping the lines of communication open when discussing how to ensure a smooth and stable transition out of Obamacare to put in place a 21st Century health care system.”

McMorris Rodgers, who is the House GOP conference chair, has been a vocal opponent of the Affordable Care Act for years. She made the ambiguous promise on Friday that

“No one who has coverage because of Obamacare today, will lose that coverage the day it’s repealed — we’re committed to a smooth and stable transition for those currently receiving care.”

New House Appropriations Chair Promises ACA Replacement Upon Repeal

...... A videographer from the publication asked Frelinghuysen earlier in the interview whether the 20 million people who had gained access to health care through the ACA would continue to have coverage after the law’s repeal, which Republicans initiated last week.

“I think they’re going to have it, and I think it’s probably going to be better care than what they have now,” Frelinghuysen said.

“We need to obviously cover issues which relate to pre-existing conditions," he added. "And about between five and 10 percent of those that make up most of the cost of medical care are in that category. So I think much of what we will be focusing on is how do we take care of those with pre-existing conditions.”

A local advocacy group had let Frelinghuysen know what they thought of his “plan” the previous Friday, when they delivered paper bags with lumps of coal to his office. .....
