During Fox News interview Donald Trump defends Vladimir Putin by suggesting that America is just as bad.

Courtesy of Politico:

In an excerpt of an interview set to run Sunday before the Super Bowl, Trump was asked by Fox News' Bill O'Reilly if he "respects" Putin.

"I do respect him. I respect a lot of people but that doesn't mean I'm going to get along with him," Trump replied. "He's a leader of his country. I say it's better to get along with Russia than not."

Trump added that if Russia helps fight against ISIS and "Islamic terrorists all over the world" then it's "a good thing."

O'Reilly, however, followed up by saying that Putin "is a killer."

"There are a lot of killers," Trump responded, "We've got a lot of killers. What do you think? Our country's so innocent?"

You know you would think that while there is so much discussion about Russia interfering in the election to win you the White House that you would at least PRETEND that you are not Vladimir Putin's little bitch.

Remember this is the guy who is supposed to be the great defend er of America and its ideals who just compared this country to a man who kills journalists and has his political enemies assassinated.

"What do you think? Our country's so innocent?"

Comparatively speaking you bet your ass I do!

Iran vows to destroy US military base if President Trump ‘makes a mistake’

A senior Iranian government official said Saturday Tehran was prepared to attack Tel Aviv and destroy a U.S. military base in Bahrain if the Trump White House ordered a military strike against Iran. Mojtaba Zonour, a member of Iran’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission and a former Islamic Revolution Guards Corps official, said Iran could bomb use Iranian missiles to bomb Tel Aviv in under seven minutes, the semi-official Fars News Agency reported.

There was a march against Ryan in his home town of Janesville, Wis. yesterday, another planned for today. People are NOT buying what he is trying to sell. Too bad all these people seem to be absent when the voting took place. The gop is full of traitors, who seem to be trying to bring this country down. As long as their bank accounts are filled, they could care less if tRump is insane or not. Lots of gop members are afrid to face their constituents about the ACA, running away like little school girls from the planned :listening forums". SOME of them are getting the message. As for tRump, he is a lunatic, an orange asshole.

The Republicans are going to be in huge trouble across the land in this next election cycle. Just watch how the money will come out to support their races (Kock brothers, etc.)!

Ryan is worthless and much like McConnell. They've both sold their souls and will rot in hell eventually. Ryan is Catholic too and assuredly not living or governing in the manner he was taught as a child. He lies - doesn't support the poor - doesn't want to feed those hungry and on and on. Satan himself will meet him at the Doors to Hell when he succumbs!

So if Trump screws up in any way the tower is protected from a physical assault by the Russians. Considering one of his Russian buddies is camped out on one of the tower floors already, maybe Melania and Barron are pawns in a game we can’t even imagine in its entirety. Must write a book ...

One small beacon of light today for IMer's and Americans with a conscience:

A 4 month old little girl can get the life saving surgery she was denied by the Idiot-in-Chief

    http://www.cnn.com/2017/02/04/politics/travel-ban-iranian-baby-heart-surgery-trnd/

Fatemeh Reshad and her parents are expected to arrive in the United States in a few days, the Portland hospital said Saturday.

They initially had been scheduled to meet Sunday with doctors in Portland but had been barred from traveling from Tehran, Fatemeh's uncle, Samad Teghizadeh, told CNN.

I hope this child has a successful outcome

I hope she can grow up in the USA, where if we can keep it, religious freedom and FREEDOM FROM RELIGIOUS LUNATICS is still the law of the land

I have little hope that humans will ever stop the wars, murder, abuse, rampant greed, and lust for power, and violence

I have little hope that tribalism and racism will ever cease.

I have ZERO hope that we as a species can some day leave the lunacy and mythology of religions (all of them ) behind, and evolve to care for ourselves and our planet.

I have to take heart and be glad for small victories, and the future of Fatemeh Reshad, and that she can be healed, and have life, liberty and a pursuit of happiness.

Just the reversals alone are horrific, but the phone calls to world leaders?? This is like Obama following W, major mess to clean up. It has to be unbearable for Obama to see this, esp the military action that killed hundreds plus a Navy Seal. This is just the tip of the iceberg...planning this over dinner with Jared, omg. I wonder how his wife feels about losing her husband because of Trump.

For those of you not watching SNL you are missing the best satire of Donald ever written. Melissa doing Spicer was worthy of an Emmy all by itself....who ever thought of using her was genius. Alec nails it every time and physically imitates him in every gross detail. I can not imagine being anywhere close to Donald when that aired....esp the end, he must be curled up in the fetal position sucking his thumb in his big boy bed, sobbing. The only thing missing was Conway, Kate totally nails her too, doing Betsy and Angela was hysterical. Every skit is on You Tube so make sure you watch. Trump is comedy gold....did hear Samantha Bee is having a show while the correspondence dinner will be on? She is another must see on TBS....and John Oliver is back, Trump's head is going to explode.

Has it only been two weeks, well two weeks and two days? Already the cost of the new administration on the lives of ordinary people is beyond belief. And I don’t just mean the financial costs whether of security at Trump Tower in New York City, his reckless executive orders, or his vacation this weekend. Keeping track of these costs is important and necessary, especially since this is the party that claims to value fiscal responsibility and reduced government spending (or does that only apply when speaking of those who are poor, disenfranchised, and caught in a system of oppression).

In addition to financial costs, there are also human costs in worry, stress, and fear. There are the opportunity costs of protesting his incompetent and irresponsible actions rather than advocating for positive change. There are costs to the environment that impact the ecosystems of plants and trees, rivers and lakes, fish and animals which ultimately affect the lives of every person on the planet.

Donald Trump’s now temporarily blocked Muslim ban created chaos at airports, tore families apart, and kept refugees from reaching safer communities. More at least one child was delayed getting much needed medical care. So much needless human pain and suffering caused by an illegal, unconstitutional, and immoral executive order hastily implemented and with no factual basis in achieving the intent to keep Americans safe.

Keeping Americans safe is easier said than done by this new administration. In his first operation as Commander-in-Chief Trump ordered a raid in Yemen without “sufficient intelligence, ground support, or adequate backup preparations” according Reuters. The decision reportedly made over dinner in conversation with political advisors and not intelligence and military experts led to the death of Navy SEAL William “Ryan” Owens along with other non-combatant civilians including women and children. An untold amount of suffering and grief is causing distress among family and friends from Peoria, Illinois, to Yemen largely because Trump failed to fully prepare for this operation in consultation with experts in multiple fields and heeding their reports.

It is bad enough this administration is having a hard time consulting and trusting intelligence and military experts and the reports they provide. But when all goes bad rather than taking responsibility they blame Obama in another attempt to rewrite history.

The human costs in anxiety and anger are adding up ...

'Democracy is, most assuredly, not a business.'

Thomas Countryman is not a pundit. He’s not anything at the moment, other than a citizen, husband, and father. However, until this week he was the Assistant Secretary of State for International Security and Nonproliferation, a position he held after serving the United States for 35 years. In that role, it was Countryman who was tasked with keeping WMDs from reaching terrorists, and restricting the spread of nuclear, chemical and biological weapons. That critical position is now vacant.

The day Donald Trump became enamored with Vladimir Putin, he stepped into a field of land mines without realizing it.

Why does he love Vladimir Putin?. Trump's formative years were influenced first by his father and later by his lawyer, Roy Cohn. His father taught him that in life you are either a “killer” or a “loser”, Trump has called his rivals “loser” often enough for us to know that his father's lesson stuck. Cohn taught him how to use lawsuits as a weapon against his enemies. Trump views Vladimir Putin as a “Killer”, no matter that he is a Russian dictator. Trump, like many many people, is a victim of arrested development. He has the mentality of a tween, with about the same level of interest in anything other than “babes” and “social acceptance”, zero. When one views him that way, then his behavior begins to make sense.

From 2007 to the present there are numerous times when using a public media outlet Trump has praised Vladimir Putin. A CNN article, written by Jeremy Diamond presents a timeline for Trump's comments about Putin. You can read the full article Timeline: Donald Trump's praise for Vladimir Putin . His latest praise, in a Fox news interview, which has not aired yet, Trump is asked why he would be so enamored with Putin, considering that the man is a “killer”. The New York Times reported today that:

” President Trump, asked by an interviewer on Saturday why he respected President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia even though he is “a killer,” seemed to equate Mr. Putin’s actions with those of the United States.

“You got a lot of killers,” he told the interviewer, Bill O’Reilly of Fox News. “What, you think our country’s so innocent?””

The quote in Diamond's article that struck me was a tweet in June, 2013:

June 2013: Trump wonders if Putin will be his "new best friend"

"Will he become my new best friend?" Trump asked of Putin in a tweet wondering whether Putin would attend the 2013 Miss Universe pageant Trump brought to Moscow.

Now if you look at the history of his campaign and his eventual win, the hiring of people like Manafort, which was reported as a move to stop the loss of delegates to the convention, and Russian interference makes more sense. Trump from as far back as 2013, at least, if not further back, was determined to make Putin his “best friend”, shades of middle school.

Our black op guys are just more careful and discrete.Sort of. Lots of people have been suicided or died mysteriously by our government, too, and we'd be naive not to acknowledge the truth. The info is out there if you are looking for it. Charles Burlingame comes to mind. He was the pilot of the airplane that didn't hit the Pentagon. He was a former marine combat pilot who had been part of a drill a bit before the pentagon "hit" about "what would happen if a plane hit the Pentagon." His daughter was suspicious about the official story. Then...

BULLLLSHIT! IF YOU DO NOT LEAD THE WAY TO IMPEACH TRUMP YOU'RE WITH TRUMP

    USA Today:
McConnell breaks with Trump over Putin, Russia

Heidi M. Przybyla | USA TODAY
    Updated 1 hour ago

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said he doesn’t view Russian President Vladimir Putin in the same way that President Trump does.

During an interview on CNN’s State of the Union, the Kentucky Republican called Putin a “thug” and former KGB agent who was not elected in a way most would consider “a credible election.” Putin also invaded the sovereign nation of Ukraine and “messed around in our elections,” said McConnell.

“I don’t think there’s any equivalency to the way the Russians conduct themselves and the way the United States does,” said McConnell.

McConnell responded to Trump’s earlier comments. When Fox News host Bill O’Reilly asked Trump about allegations that Putin is “a killer” who targets his political enemies, Trump replied:

“We got a lot of killers. You think our country’s so innocent?”

Both McConnell and Republican Sen. Ben Sasse of Nebraska, who appeared on ABC's This Week, spoke out in opposition to Trump drawing parallels between the United States and Putin’s Russia.

“I don’t know what the president’s trying to do,” said Sasse.

“The U.S. affirms freedom of speech; Putin is no friend of freedom of speech. Putin is an enemy of freedom of religion; the U.S. celebrates freedom of religion. Putin is an enemy of the free press; the U.S. celebrates free press. Putin is an enemy of political dissent; the U.S. celebrates political dissent,” said Sasse.

“There is no moral equivalency” between the United States and Putin’s “murderous thugs,” he said. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., also took to Twitter to slam the comparison.

If djt is so bad on judges, why is djt nominating one? Just tell congress to approve Garland. What idiocy.

  36. Trump is busy undermining the judicial system. It's not enough the judicial branch disappeared from the White House website.

Now he's trying to undermine the courts system in the eyes of the public.

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-rails-against-judge-blame-the-courts-if-something-happens-214316878.html

"Trump even told his supporters to “blame” both Judge James Robart and the broader court system “if something happens” — an apparent reference to a terror attack.

“Just cannot believe a judge would put our country in such peril. If something happens blame him and court system. People pouring in. Bad!” Trump exclaimed on Twitter."

"In striking tweets breaking precedent with the norm of the executive branch respecting the legitimacy of the judicial system, since Friday’s ruling Trump has repeatedly assailed Robart, whom he labeled a “so-called judge” on Saturday."

"“I have instructed Homeland Security to check people coming into our country VERY CAREFULLY. The courts are making the job very difficult!” the president added Sunday, just minutes before his pre-Super Bowl interview with Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly aired."

  37. Putin is also THIEF! (Gee, just like Trump)

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/robert-kraft-putin-super-bowl-ring_us_5897a1b0e4b09bd304bbd5cf?6v8z7z838sx4unmi&

"New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft really wants one of his four Super Bowl rings back from Putin ― whom he alleges stole it from him during an encounter in 2005 ― and he hopes Trump will be able to broker the deal. "

"“I took out the ring and showed it to [Putin], and he put it on and he goes, ‘I can kill someone with this ring,’” Kraft said at an event at the time. “I put my hand out and he put it in his pocket, and three KGB guys got around him and walked out.”

Kraft says he kept up the story at the request of White House officials, who said it would be good for U.S.-Russia relations if he pretended the ring was a gift. Now he’s hopeful that Trump, who has repeatedly said he respects Putin and shied away from disavowing him, will come through for him.

“I do have an emotional attachment to that ring,” Kraft said Sunday. "

To which I say, good luck with that, Kraft. Trump isn't going to do squat for you. You'll never see that ring again.

To be clear, Trump is a lunatic. However, it is distressing to see every media outlet including this blog and every politician bow to the 'patriotic' knee jerk response that America is too 'exceptional' to acknowledge that Trump, like a broken clock, is actually right on this point. The clutching of pearls that Putin's deeds are evil while America's are 'mistakes' are a little hard tostomach. Try that garbage on Latin America where America directly or indirectly killed tens of thousands while destroying their economies or try it on those America killed in Iraq or native Indians or Blacks or American citizens of Japanese descent. One could fill pages just by title of American evil but oh god, Trump doesn't buy the party line. I have no issue with Trump being called out for being Putin's puppet. It is galling to see everyone reacting on this point as if he isn't absolutely right - as hard as that is to concede.
