Frustrated at charges the Yemen raid was botched, U.S. Military releases fake video supposedly captured in the raid. Because, you know, that's gonna help.

Did you notice how quickly the Fox News reporter changed the subject?

Apparently that works with their viewers.

Not with us though.

Here is more courtesy of WaPo:

The U.S. military released a compendium of jihadi video Friday that it said showed “the sort of intelligence information” Navy SEALs seized in a deadly Jan. 29 raid in Yemen. There was just one problem: The clip included 10-year-old footage.

The video was released to the media midday as U.S. military officials said it was obtained in the search of a compound operated by al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), a terrorist group that has previously planned attacks in Western nations.

“The videos released today are samples of a series of detailed, do-it-yourself lessons intended for aspiring terrorist bomb-makers and included an exhortation to use those techniques to attack the West,” U.S. Central Command officials said in a news release. “The full-length videos, from which these clips were extracted, were taken from a computer seized by U.S. Special Operations service members during the raid.”

Air Force Col. John J. Thomas, a U.S. Central Command spokesman, said the video was taken down based on the reaction it received through social media. One clip in particular was previously published in 2007. The Pentagon had scheduled a 2 p.m. news briefing to discuss the raid, but canceled it after realizing the problem with the video, which already had aired on cable television news broadcasts and circulated online.

Thomas went on to explain that the Pentagon was not trying to deceive the public by lying about the footage, which of course completely contradicts their earlier claim, and that they cannot share the ACTUAL information they captured cause it's all super secret classified and everything.

So apparently the Trump administration's penchant for releasing fake news has now trickled down to the military.

Good to know.

As said before, NO respect for the military. Because they say so? How many killed and maimed Iraq and Vietnam because we knew better?

I can understand serving your country, but when it's bullshit and your life means nothing for a "grown up" game of Stratego.

Trump Shared A Fake News To Story To Fool Americans About His Muslim Ban

While his Muslim ban was sinking under the weight of popular backlash, President Trump tried to boost support for his Executive Order by promoting a fake news story on his Facebook page.

Kellyanne Conway Calls People Who Like Facts Haters As Her Bowling Green Massacre Lie Gets Worse

Kellyanne Conway, the Trump counselor and infamous spokeswoman for "alternative facts", is blaming "haters" for all of the flack she's getting for making up a fictional massacre to justify Trump's Muslim ban.

A penchant for self-pity and a demand that others be held to standards to which they refuse to hold themselves are identifying markers of the Trump administration so far.

Kellyanne Conway, the Trump counselor and infamous spokeswoman for “alternative facts”, is blaming “haters” for all of the flack she’s getting for making up a fictional massacre to justify Trump’s Muslim ban.

In a Fox News’ Media Buzz interview airing Sunday, Kellyanne Conway defended her “misstatement” in which she referred to a fictional “Bowling Green massacre” which “didn’t get covered.”

Conway “… called some of her critics ‘haters’ and said she corrected her error as soon as she learned about it.” Conway told Howard Kurtz, “I should have said plot or I should have just called them terrorists. … I clarified immediately. I should have said terrorists and not massacre.”

“I misspoke one word. The corrections in the newspapers that are attacking me are three paragraphs long every day.”

Conway’s fictional terrorist attack in Bowling Green by Iraqis used to justify Trump’s Muslim ban didn’t go over well because… there was no Bowling Green massacre.

Donald Trump Still Reads Polls. That Means You Should Answer Them.

Polls are a particularly effective way to make your voice heard right now.

The president himself has provided the answer. In an interview with RealClearPolitics, White House press secretary Sean Spicer revealed that Trump consumes polling information with gusto, sometimes telling his advisers about the data before they see it themselves.

That means Americans have a direct avenue to getting their voices heard by the president. Answering a phone call or an email to respond to poll questions is more important now than ever ― it might be the quickest way to have your opinion heard in the Oval Office.

Spicer confirmed to RCP that Trump sees both positive and negative polling data. Of course, he likely dismisses polls that don’t look good for him as “phony” or “rigged,” but the fact that he even looks at the data is at least a partial win for Americans and the polling industry.

And, even if he does dismiss some polls as flawed or dishonest, the fact that Trump still consumes polling data as much as he did during the campaign shows that ultimately he believes this information represents the people’s views. That means polls provide a powerful direct link from Americans’ voices to Trump.

WaPo: DHS Chief Refused Bannon Order To Keep Green Card Holders Out

When Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly set out to exempt green card holders from President Donald Trump's order barring visitors from seven predominantly Muslim countries, White House adviser Steve Bannon ordered Kelly not to, according to a Saturday report in the Washington Post.

Bannon made a personal visit to the Department of Homeland Security on Jan. 28 to give Kelly the order, but Kelly refused to follow Bannon's instructions, per the Washington Post.

Following publication of the Post's story, the White House denied to the Post that Bannon visited the Department of Homeland Security on Jan 28.

Robert Reich Suggests Breitbart, Bannon and Trump Were Behind Berkeley Agitators

In a very persuasively argued piece, Robert Reich asks if “The events at Berkeley Wednesday night” may have been part of a Donald Trump plot, a false flag operation – by Milos Yiannopoulos, of Breitbart News, and Steve Bannon – to control American universities.

As Reich explains, “The events at Berkeley Wednesday night have been a boon to Milos Yiannopoulos, of Breitbart News, and to Steve Bannon, formerly head of Breitbart News and now Trump’s consigliere.”

    http://www.politicususa.com/2017/02/04/robert-reich-breitbart-berkeley-agitators.html

According to a promotional Breitbart story that ran before the event, Yiannopoulos was going to “call for the withdrawal of federal grants and the prosecution of university officials who endanger their students with their policies.”

Which is exactly what Trump did via tweet early the next morning:: “If U.C. Berkeley does not allow free speech and practices violence on innocent people with a different point of view — NO FEDERAL FUNDS?”

Thursday night, Yiannopoulos had a friendly interview on Fox News’s “Tucker Carlson Tonight” – a show that, according to the Washington Post, has ridden anger at left-wing activism into best-in-class prime time ratings.

Yiannopoulos wasn’t asked about the content of the speech that was shut down. The conversation focused instead on how Berkeley proved the point that the Left was ceding its right to federal grants by cracking down on free speech.

Which raises the possibility that Yiannopoulos and Brietbart were in cahoots with the agitators, in order to lay the groundwork for a Trump crackdown on universities and their federal funding.

Thursday night on CNN, I said “I wouldn’t bet against” that possibility. Almost immediately an indignant article appeared in Breitbart News, misleadingly headlined “Robert Reich Lies, Claims Breitbart News Organized Berkeley Riots.”

It is more than a bit disturbing that the Trump administration is so ill-informed and amateurish than it would seriously entertain the idea of a Polish invasion of Belarus.

Lukashenko, by the way, lashed out at the FSB, the Russian security agency once known as the KGB and of which Vladimir Putin was once an agent – and the same folks Trump is busily cozying up to in easing the terms of President Obama’s recent sanctions.

There is a very real threat here. Keep in mind that Hitler used a staged Polish incursion into Germany – the infamous Gleiwitz incident – as his casus belli in invading Poland in 1939. If Putin is looking for an excuse to invade Belarus as well as Ukraine, Trump, whether intentionally or in his role as a useful idiot, seems eager to lend a hand.

Tellingly, Trump was not the least bit interested in news about Russian incursions into Ukraine, which are anything but the product of overheated and Kremlin-influenced White House imaginations.

How protesters plan to get under Trump’s skin wherever he goes

The Saturday evening march will begin at Trump Plaza, a high-rise apartment building. President Trump actually hasn’t owned the place since 1991. Fine. It still has the name. It’s a good place to start.

From there, the marchers will head south, walking along the Intracoastal Waterway that separates West Palm Beach from ritzy Palm Beach island. They’ll stop, on police orders, when they reach the bridge across from Mar-a-Lago.

And then, the plan is to wave signs and glow sticks. The hope is that they’ll be visible across the dark water and the great green lawn of the club, from up in the private apartment that is now the “winter White House.”

If Trump sees those green lights, then he’ll know that his critics have followed him home.

“He is a part-time resident here, and we want to make sure people know his values are not our values,” said Alex Newell Taylor, 34, an organizer of Saturday’s march. She said thousands are expected.

This is the reality of Trump’s honeymoon-free presidency.

Having sought to create unprecedented disruption in Washington, his critics will now seek to bring unprecedented disruption to his life as president — including demonstrations that follow him when he travels, and protests that will dog his businesses even when he doesn’t.

The Economist’s Editors Calls Donald Trump ‘An Insurgent in the White House’

"The bleak cadence of last month’s inauguration was still in the air when Donald Trump lobbed the first Molotov cocktail of policies and executive orders against the capital’s brilliant-white porticos. He has not stopped."

First, we have Germany’s Der Spiegel present us with Trump decapitating the statue of liberty and holding her severed head like a trophy. Britain’s The Economist has raised also a few eyebrows with its cover showing Donald Trump armed with a Molotov cocktail titled “An Insurgent in the White House,” telling us that “WASHINGTON is in the grip of a revolution.”

Democrats in Congress to Donald Trump: read the Constitution, you “so-called president”

...That prompted United States Congressman Adam Schiff, who represents the Los Angeles area, to quickly fire back with following: “This “so-called” judge was nominated by a “so-called” President & was confirmed by the “so-called” Senate. Read the “so-called” Constitution.” This helped lead to the phrase “so called president” to become a trending topic on Twitter, to which Trump was reduced to angrily tweeting “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

And then Congressman Ted Lieu, who represents the district neighboring Schiff’s district, piled on with “Uh-oh, even @realDonaldTrump can’t figure out how to defend his crazy actions. He’s now just shouting campaign slogans” before adding the hashtag #SoCalledPresident. Ted Lieu has also previously asserted that the Trump administration just “Makes shit up.”

At that point an exasperated Trump was further reduced to tweeting a rhetorical question: “What is our country coming to when a judge can halt a Homeland Security travel ban and anyone, even with bad intentions, can come into U.S.?” But that question was quickly answered by numerous Twitter users, who quipped that our country is coming together to get rid of him, and that our country is coming to a constitutional crisis.

All sitting judges should be fuming at the criticism Trump leveled at the federal judge who halted the implementation of the travel ban. Trump is, in effect, thumbing his nose at the third branch of the US government. He has the second branch, Congress, in his pocket and now he's trying to force the submission of the judicial branch as well. Sure hope it doesn't work. It will require courage on the part of US federal judges across the board and will test their commitment to the US Constitution. If Trump wins, the US as it has stood since the Revolution ended, will no longer exist.

Now Donald Trump is Claiming His Muslim Ban is From Homeland Security

Donald Trump doesn’t just invent things – he changes the facts if the first set of facts doesn’t work out as hoped. For example, his executive order banning travelers from seven countries that primarily affected Muslims and was therefore widely known as a Muslim ban (and first a ban, not a ban and then whatever you want to call it), was derailed by a federal judge.

His response was to rip the judge as a “so-called” judge. That got him nowhere, of course. Which for Trump meant it was time for him to change his story.

As a result, Trump is no longer calling the ban an executive order. You know, the one he proudly held up for the cameras as part of his political theater. Trump vowed to act and now he has: Rather than take credit for his failed decision, the so-called president is claiming it was a Department of Homeland Security decision:

...Donald Trump can’t stand to lose. Unfortunately for him, there is nothing he can do right now but fume and lie. Though these are two things he excels at, they will get him nowhere.

The Department of Homeland Security did not issue the ban. Donald Trump did. Telling lies now won’t change the fact that he tried to ban Muslims from these shores and failed – failed spectacularly.

One thing that is consistent with Trump's administration is that, if whatever they do turns out to be really botched up, they'll blame it on the Obama administration. So far they've blamed the immigrant ban and the Yemen raid incorrectly on the Obama administration. They will continue to do this for the next four years. Just watch and see.

"We're all watching with interest. He’s obviously gotten off to a very strong start in terms of making a series of executive orders and making the changes that he promised during the campaign," Romney said.

Trump is proving wrong those who "wondered whether he would abandon his agenda. He has not. He has pursued it with vigor," Romney said. He added at this point he is hopeful America's interests will be enhanced by the new president.

And so far, Romney said, Trump has appointed "good people" to serve in his administration. He praised the president's choice for the U.S. Supreme Court, 10th Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Neil Gorsuch, as "superb."

All the Terrifying Things That Donald Trump Did Lately

A rodent in Pennsylvania saw its shadow on Thursday, and so America is in for six more weeks of winter — followed by at least 46 more months of the Donald Trump presidency
    .
Technically, it’s only been two weeks since Trump became commander-in-chief. But for the president’s detractors, it’s felt like centuries — long medieval centuries chock-full of plague, illiteracy, and barbarians running roughshod through the ruins of the old republic. But we aren’t actually living in the dark ages (yet). So we might as well shed some light on what the barbarians have been up to.....

Here is a rundown of everything the president has done on that front in the period between January 27 (the date of our last edition of “Terrifying Things”) and February 3, arranged in rough order of each affront’s apparent significance and severity.

Prior editions can be found below.
