Courtesy of ABC News:
The military convoy spotted on Sunday flying a Donald Trump flag near Louisville belonged to an East Coast-based SEAL unit, a Navy spokesperson told ABC News.
Military officials have launched an inquiry to determine if any misconduct can be linked to the incident. Regulations do not permit an unauthorized flag on a military vehicle.
"The convoy were service members assigned to an East Coast-based Naval Special Warfare unit driving vehicles while transiting between two training locations," Lieutenant Jacqui Maxwell, a spokesperson for Naval Special Warfare Group 2, told ABC News. Naval Special Warfare Units is the official Navy term for its elite SEAL special operations teams.
Maxwell said that Fort Knox, near Louisville, is used by Naval Special Warfare units for routine training.
The spokesperson said that a command inquiry has been initiated to determine what flag was being flown by the vehicle in the convoy.
"Defense Department and Navy regulations prescribe flags and pennants that may be displayed as well as the manner of display," said Maxwell. "The flag shown in the video was unauthorized."
I have to say I am somewhat amazed at the cognitive dissonance portrayed by these servicemen.
After all Trump authorized an ill conceived raid that killed one of their own, along with a number of civilian women and children.
And there is every likelihood that Trump will send many more to their deaths in the next few years, since he has essentially threatened everybody from China, to Iran, and even Mexico.
A well done to the person(s) who took that video and reported it. The resistance must be ever vigilant.
ReplyDeleteI could be wrong but I thought the video was taken by someone that is actually pro trump.
Deletethen somebody NOT pro Trump leaked it.
DeleteTIme to, Long past time to, stop glorifying the military. A few are heroes (look up the definition of that word) some are pretty good at their jobs and serve honorably. Others are the same damn assholes they were in civilian life, and a few are vicious, violent killers that are dishonorable and who should be subject to courts martial.
ReplyDeleteJeremy Morlock? Track Palin?
DeleteAgreed, @2:20. I've met many service members in recent years that are absolute jerks.
DeleteAgree, we run a small business and am sick of each of these money grubbing 'heros' asking for a military discount. I finally said to one, you get a discount every time I pay my taxes. They were aghast some one wasn't going to kiss their red neck tattooed asses. They never offered to thank me for my service of paying their wages. and fuck trump too...damn I feel better.
DeleteThe worship of money and the mawkish glorification of the war machine are uniquely American.
Deletei think that the US military did best when its members were draftees. It equalized the playing field, so to speak, especially in war time when it wasn't so easy to get deferments.

Beaglemom, the orange anus got how many deferments? Cheyney? Papa Bush? W? Ted Nugent?

ReplyDeleteRegulations? There are no more regulations in Trump world. Respect is earned, military, conduct yourselves like you're deserving of it.
ReplyDeleteYeah drumpfworld will still have some regulations, like the kind that shuts down a perfectly legal and safe abortion clinic because its fucking doorways don't meet the senseless conservative regulations the GOPers passed, or the hospital admitting 'privileges' the doctor now must have, etc.
DeleteY'know, those regulations that control women's bodies and what you do in your sexlife with another consenting adult. THOSE regulations.
All I can say is 'holy crap'!
ReplyDeleteSince Trump is the head of our military as potus, who can do something to the idiots driving those military vehicles?
I'd love seeing their names published in all newspapers across the nation along w/their photos and states in which they reside!
You are waaaaay out of your league buddy, and you have no idea what you are talking about.
ReplyDeleteAnd you also need to understand that no real punishment is going to happen to a seal team because a bunch of pussy hat wearers like you are crying. It is most fair to say that the seals are a lot more important to the military than you are.
Well, aren't you speshul.
DeleteI keep forgetting that in a fascist state you are not allowed to criticize the military or their leaders.
DeleteYou can criticize all you want. Just don't expect any results from whining away, acting as if you control the military and determining punishment for frankly such a small infraction.
DeleteYou are right that they shouldn't be flying a Trump flag. But going as overboard as all of you are over every single little slight since the election pretty much just shows what a joke you are.

Yeah, I don’t get it either.
This news cycle, however, has afforded the media a chance to put Republican concern-trolling about guns in the hands of unstable domestic abusers to the test, thanks to Sarah Palin. At a Donald Trump rally Wednesday, Palin brought up her son Track Palin’s domestic violence arrest, and blamed Obama and PTSD:"

Trump Takes Twitter Dictation From Fox News, Again
ReplyDeletehttp://crooksandliars.com/2017/02/trump-takes-twitter-dictation
White House Issues Press Credentials To Infowars' Birther, Jerome Corsi
The Trump White House is rapidly dismantling the normal institutions of a civilized democracy, piece by piece, and that assault on all fronts must include a media that facilitates their "alternative facts," after all.
The much maligned regulars of our mainstream media have credentials for Sean Spicer's rants/press conferences, but they will be joined by an insane purveyor of alternative facts -- Alex Jones' Infowars.
Who will be the go-to guy who will report the alternative facts in a way that pleases the Trump/Bannon Administration? Who better than Jerome Corsi, the co-author of Unfit for Command, which derailed the 2004 campaign by swiftboating then candidate, Senator John Kerry.
Corsi shared an obsession with Donald Trump a few years back: Birtherism. The two joined forces (so to speak) just after Corsi's book was published in 2011. Where's The Birth Certificate, raised questions about President Obama's legitimacy as a natural-born U.S. Citizen and was quite a best seller among conservative suckers.
The book's release occurred at roughly the same time as the White House Correspondent's Dinner where President Obama slayed Trump, and he never forgot that. Coincidentally, Corsi also wrote for World Net Daily, but now he's found a new home for his conspiracy fetish with Alex Jones and some of his even more ridiculous cohorts like Dan Bidondi.
http://crooksandliars.com/2017/02/trump-gives-press-credentials-infowars
The despicable "swift boating" of John Kerry may well have been the beginning of fake news in the 21st century.
DeleteBeaglemom
Nope. Fake News can be traced back to at LEAST Ronald Reagan's "Nation at Risk" which was written to order specifically to undermine public education. It was debunked quickly but that report was suppressed and the media continued to report the false facts Reagan demanded that the book contain. Sometimes you'll still hear Republicans citing "A Nation at Risk" to support their dismantling of public education.
DeleteDon't service members typically lean more to the right? Also, the way Trump talks would have a certain appeal and usefulness in the military. Trump is very black and white, us vs. them, all middle eastern people are terrorists, all hispanics are illegal.
ReplyDeleteThis crap would be tempting for military members to believe. After all, your job has to be easier believing that non-Americans are ether enemies or allies, nothing in between. I'm not sure if I could ever shoot anyone, but believing that my target lives in a cave, makes bombs, beats and rapes his multiple wives, and is planning the next 9/11 would make it much easier.

Uber CEO Travis Kalanick Stepping Down From Trump Economic Advisory Council
ReplyDeleteIn a memo to employees, Kalanick said he didn’t want his presence to be seen as endorsing the president or his agenda.
...Last weekend, angry Uber users began a movement to #DeleteUber from their phones after the company deliberately turned off surge pricing during a taxi strike at New York’s JFK airport. The taxi drivers were striking in solidarity with the thousands of protesters gathered there to demonstrate against Trump’s immigration ban.
Independent Drivers Guild founder Jim Conigliaro Jr. stood by Kalanick’s decision in a statement emailed to HuffPost late Thursday. The group represents around 50,000 Uber drivers in New York City and is an affiliate of the Machinists Union.
“This is an important show of solidarity with the immigrant drivers who helped build Uber and number over 40,000 in New York City alone,” he said. “We are heartened that Uber has listened to the drivers and the community on this important issue that is so integral to the promise of the American dream.”

Here’s How Much Betsy DeVos And Her Family Paid To Back GOP Senators Who Will Support Her
ReplyDeleteThe nomination of billionaire heiress Betsy DeVos to head the Department of Education is one vote shy of failing in the Republican-controlled Senate. One thing that could come to her aid is that she and the entire DeVos family are massive Republican Party donors who helped fund the election of the remaining senators who will decide her fate.
Big donors often get positions in government, ambassadorships or ceremonial titles, but rarely do they come as big as DeVos. Sitting Republican senators have received $115,000 from Betsy DeVos herself, and more than $950,000 from the full DeVos clan since 1980. In the past two election cycles alone, her family has donated $8.3 million to Republican Party super PACs.
After Sens. Susan Collins (R-Me.) and Lisa Murkowski (R-Ala.) announced their opposition to DeVos, her opponents turned their sights on other potential no votes from Republicans. The last hope to scuttle her nomination appears to be Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.). Like a lot of his colleagues, Toomey has received financial support from DeVos and her family throughout his career.
Toomey received $60,050 from the DeVos family during his political career. He was also boosted by two super PACs in his successful 2016 re-election campaign that received DeVos money. Freedom Partners Action Fund, the super PAC founded by the billionaire Koch brothers, spent $7 million to support Toomey’s election while getting $150,000 from the DeVos family. Senate Leadership Fund, a super PAC linked to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), spent $15 million to back Toomey after getting more than $2 million from the DeVos family.

Another Warning Sign For Republicans Trying To Repeal Obamacare
ReplyDeleteRepublicans trying to repeal the Affordable Care Act have a new problem on their hands: The AARP isn’t happy.
The nation’s most famous retiree organization, which represents 38 million older Americans, has fired off letters critical of two proposals that have figured prominently in GOP discussions about replacing the Affordable Care Act. One of those proposals would relax the law’s “age bands.” The other would transform Medicaid into a so-called block grant.
And it’s not just letters the AARP is sending. A spokesperson for the organization confirmed that it is asking its members to call lawmakers who sit on the health subcommittee for the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, which took up these ideas in a hearing Thursday.
The AARP’s objections alone aren’t enough to stop Republicans from including versions of these ideas in health care legislation, of course. But the organization represents a demographic that happens to be an essential part of the Republican voting coalition.
Taken together, the group’s warnings constitute one more reminder of the difficult policy trade-offs, and equally difficult politics, that Republicans are sure to confront as their effort to repeal “Obamacare” moves forward.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/aarp-obamacare-affordable-care-act_us_589280eee4b070cf8b80ab63?0yets3im5vlhaor&
AARP will roll over if tossed a few tidbits by the GOP. Remember when George W. was president, AARP fully supported the notorious "donut hole" that cost senior citizens much worry and a lot of money. I do not trust AARP even though, at over seventy, I should feel supported by the organization.

AARP got into the insurance business a long time ago. That endorsement gave them the opportunity to shoot fishies in the goldfish bowl.

ReplyDeleteTeen Plans To Tell The Immigrant Stories Trump’s Administration Never Would
Because you can’t judge a whole community on the actions of a few.
When Valeria Alvarado learned that President Donald Trump had called for a weekly list of crimes committed by undocumented immigrants, she took action.
The 19-year-old Villanova University student decided to create an organization that would fight Trump’s actions by highlighting positive immigrant stories. Alvarado recently started the Facebook page “We, Too, Are America,” a name she acknowledges has also been used by other pro-immigrant movements on Twitter and to celebrate Black History Month.
“When I read [Trump’s executive] order, I knew it would unfairly define a community of over 11 million people by the actions of a few,” Alvarado told The Huffington Post on Thursday. “Being close to the community, I decided to do a counter-list where we would publish a weekly list of accomplishments by the undocumented community.”

ReplyDelete...Sen. Chris Coons (D-Del.) said he wants Gorsuch to get what former President Barack Obama’s nominee, Merrick Garland, never did: a hearing, a committee vote and a floor vote. He wouldn’t say how he plans to vote, but voiced concern over the possibility that McConnell will use the nuclear option.
“I think it’s premature to come out and say I oppose this nominee,” Coons said, adding that the current political atmosphere makes him wonder if Republicans and Democrats will ever find a way to work together again.
“If all we do is continue to exact a pound of flesh from each other, we will eventually strip our republic bare to the bone,” Coons said when asked why Democrats should be reasonable after Republicans blocked Obama’s nominee for 11 months.
“It is, of course, only human to want some revenge for this unprecedented theft of a vacant [justice] seat,” he said. “Our challenge is to not act in a petty way but to try and act in a more balanced and constructive way because this institution is so important. To further deconstruct it puts all of us at risk.”

Of course, Trump is blaming President Obama for the hastily-executed raid in Yemen. Trump wanted a "military" success immediately and it didn't end so well. President Obama did not do things in a hastily-executed manner. Remember how the GOP and the media complained that the Obama administration was "too" cautious. President Obama and his administration were careful. Hence, the raid that ended Osama bin Laden - successfully and in secrecy.
