After a rocky few months for Ivanka Trump's clothing and jewelry lines as a number of major retail chains dropped her products from their real and virtual shelves, her brand has encountered yet another setback.
According to legal documents obtained by DailyMail.com, Ivanka Trump Fine Jewelry was hit with a New York State lien on January 26, accusing the company of failing to pay over $5,000 in taxes.
The Fifth Avenue jewelry store, located within Trump Tower, carries high-end pieces ranging from $1,000 to $20,000. The shop is officially listed as Madison Avenue Diamonds LLC.
I have every confidence that if you examined the finances for every one of the Trump family members you would find problems with their taxes.
These are people who simply do not believe that the laws or the rules apply to them.

DeleteYes, Trump's Aide Really Did Throw "White Power" Sign
ReplyDeleteTake a look at the guy in the picture.
That’s Steve Miller, senior advisor to Donald Trump. He’s also an avowed racist.
Don’t take my word for it—that’s what his friends and family say. He hasn't been quiet about it at all: he has openly disparaged blacks, Latinos, and Asians throughout his school career, from high school to Duke University, where he palled around with white supremacist leader Richard Spencer.
He continued his racist streak when he interned with Jeff Sessions and now spends his days trying to out-bigot the other white supremacist named Steve in Trump’s White House. No wonder David Duke adores him.
Now look at the picture. I used a screen grab for the very same shot of Miller that was used in the headlines for The Guardian, New York Daily, and Washington Post just to name a few. He made headlines that day for defending the Muslim ban by saying Trump's actions “will not be questioned”!
That’s a topic for another day.
You might think that’s an odd natural gesture to make. And it is. What Steve is doing is completely intentional:

"If we could construct a psychiatric Frankenstein monster," Dr. Gartner said. "we could not create a leader more dangerously mentally ill than Donald Trump. He is a paranoid, psychopathic, narcissist who is divorced from reality nd lashes out impulsively at his imagined enemies. And this is someone as you said who is handling the nuclear codes."
ReplyDeleteThese doctors went against protocol. Why? John Gartner, PhD.'s answer was on point.
"I would argue to my colleagues that those who don't speak out," Gartner said. "are being unethical. If we have some knowledge and understanding about the unique danger that Donald Trump presents through our psychiatric training and don't say something about it, History is not going to judge us kindly."
Asked to describe Trump's lies, Dr. Lance Dodes tore into Trump.
"He lies because of his sociopathic tendencies that Dr. Gartner was talking about," Dr. Dodes said. "He lies in the way anybody who scams people does. He's tried to sell an idea or a product by telling you something that is untrue. ... There is also the kind of lie he has that in a way is more serious; that he has a loose grip on reality. We can say that because he lies about things that aren't;t that important. ... I think what that indicates is that he can't stand an aspect of reality that he doesn't want. So he rejects it. His grasp of reality, his attention to reality is loose, an extremely dangerous trait in a president. It actually makes him unqualified."

Emails: EPA's Pruitt cozy with fossil fuel industry
By MICHAEL BIESECKER and JASON DEAREN - The Associated Press
WASHINGTON (AP) While serving as Oklahoma's attorney general, new Environmental Protection Agency chief Scott Pruitt coordinated closely with fossil-fuel companies and special interest groups working to undermine federal efforts to curb planet-warming carbon emissions, newly released emails show.
More than 7,500 pages were released under court order Tuesday evening after an Oklahoma judge ruled that Pruitt had been illegally withholding his correspondence, which is public record under state law, for the last two years.
Pruitt's office was forced to release the emails after he was sued by the Center for Media and Democracy, a left-leaning advocacy group. Other emails are still being held back pending further review by the judge......
The emails show Pruitt and his staff coordinating their legal strategy with oil and gas industry executives and conservative advocacy groups funded by those profiting from fossil fuels, including the billionaire brothers David and Charles Koch. While serving as Oklahoma's elected state lawyer for the last six years, Pruitt sued federal agencies more than a dozen times to challenge stricter environmental regulations.
Among the emails is a series of 2013 exchanges between Pruitt's staff and Richard Moskowitz, general counsel for the Washington-based American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers. The lawyer detailed the industry's plan to seek waivers from the federal rules boosting the use of renewable fuels and asked Pruitt to make a specific legal argument under air pollution regulations known as the National Ambient Air Quality Standards. The email was copied to Thomas Bates, then Pruitt's first assistant attorney general.
"We think it would be most effective for Oklahoma to file a separate waiver petition that emphasizes 'severe environmental harm,' as this argument is more credible coming from a state with primary responsibility for achieving and maintaining attainment with the NAAQS," Moskowitz wrote.
Moskowitz's email was then forwarded to Pruitt's deputy solicitor general, P. Clayton Eubanks, who replied that he knew little about the federal Renewable Fuel Standard and asked for further instructions about what the trade group wanted them to do.
"I think it is safe to say that AG Pruitt has an interest in the issue," Eubanks wrote. "Hopefully I haven't missed the boat too much on these questions but I want to make sure I fully understand what Oklahoma's role will be.".....
Sure hope she doesn’t wear herself out doing those first lady duties

NYPD commissioner: Trump security bill is $25.7M
In a letter to New York City's members of Congress, New York Police Department Commissioner James O’Neill said the “unique and unparalleled” challenge of having police and fire officials protect President Donald Trump’s family, home and office for the 75 days between Election Day and Inauguration Day comes to a cost of $25.7 million, down from an earlier estimate of $35 million.
Going forward, O’Neill said he expects the NYPD to spend between $127,000 and $146,000 per day protecting First Lady Melania Trump and her son, Barron, while they reside in Manhattan, on top of an additional $4.5 million in expenses annually for the Fire Department of New York going forward. ......
http://www.politico.com/states/new-york/city-hall/story/2017/02/nypd-commissioner-trump-security-bill-is-257m-109810
Frankly I don't understand why the City of New York feels any obligation to protect Melania or Barron. She and her son should be living in the White House (much as I dislike thinking of her in residence there). It was Melania's choice to stay in New York so she and her family should have to foot the bill for her security, not the American people. If the election was going to produce too much stress on their young son, then Papa Trump should not have run for office. But he did and we're stuck with him and his family should have to pay the price. The country is paying a really steep price having him and his administration destroy us.

Pissed Off Citizen BRUTALLY ROASTS SEN. TOM COTTON AT TOWN HALL

ReplyDeleteAt A Town Hall, Constituents Literally Turn Their Backs On GOP Senator
“Do your job!” they chanted.
Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.) was forced to abandon his PowerPoint presentation on the GOP’s Obamacare replacement plan at his town hall in Metairie, Louisiana, on Wednesday, after a packed room of angry voters drowned him out and literally turned their backs on him.
From beginning to end, the event was a disaster for Cassidy. By the time the senator arrived 30 minutes late, voters had already co-opted the town hall and turned it into a rally for the Affordable Care Act. Protesters outside the building held signs demanding that Republicans “Support the ACA” and “Dump Trump,” while the crowd of 180 people inside the room chanted “Shame!” as Cassidy entered.
Cassidy then tried to present a slideshow on his plan to replace the Affordable Care Act, but voters drowned him out with boos and demanded that he take questions from the audience instead of giving them information they could read on the GOP’s website. One woman sat in the front row knitting a pink “pussyhat,” a symbol of the women-led resistance against Trump, and several voters stood up and faced the back of the room to protest the senator’s scripted presentation.
A similar scene has been playing out at Republican town halls all over the country as lawmakers go home to face voters who are skeptical about the GOP’s vague health care plan. The party has not been able to guarantee that the 20 million previously uninsured people who are now covered by Obamacare would be able to stay covered once the health care law is repealed. Some lawmakers, including House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), have simply chosen to duck the town halls and avoid the testy crowds.

ReplyDeleteYou thought Scott Pruitt was bad for the EPA before?
The second-most preposterous thing about putting Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt in charge of the Environmental Protection Agency was the fact that the Senate hustled to install him in the job, because they knew that a court-ordered document dump was coming this week that would make his appointment even more absurd than the most preposterous thing about putting him in charge—which is that Pruitt was suing the very agency he'd been picked to lead.
Well, the other shoe dropped on Wednesday. According to The New York Times, the document dump was pretty much what everybody figured was coming.

Trump has a problem: Americans increasingly think he's incompetent
ReplyDelete...From 56% in November, it went to 49% in January, 47% earlier this month — and now 42%, or about 4 points less than his share of the popular vote.
In polling, you often analyze a question by measuring the difference between the share of respondents that gives the positive answer and the share that gives the negative one. By this measure, Trump was at plus-18 on the "good leader" question in November, and now he's at minus-13, a decline of 31 points in three months.
His term lasts another 47 months.

GOP to bury House resolution on Trump conflicts
House Republicans next week plan to derail a Democratic resolution that would have forced disclosure of President Donald Trump's potential ties with Russia and any possible business conflicts of interest, according to multiple House sources.
Seeking to avoid a full House vote on the so-called “resolution of inquiry” — a roll call that would be particularly embarrassing and divisive for the right — Republicans will send the Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.) proposal to the House Judiciary Committee for a panel vote on Tuesday, two Democratic sources said. The GOP-controlled committee is expected to kill the resolution.
Without committee action, obscure parliamentary procedures would allow Democrats to call the resolution to the floor for a vote by the full House. But having the Judiciary panel reject it all but assures it will never see a floor vote.
“Unless the resolution is reported by the committee within 14 legislative days, either favorably, unfavorably, or without recommendation, then it can be brought up on the House floor immediately thereafter, so the committee plans to address this resolution next week,” said one House Judiciary Committee aide in a statement.

A Russian newspaper editor explains how Putin made Trump his puppet
ReplyDelete“They consider him a stupid, unstrategic politician.”
...Sean Illing
Let’s talk about Trump and Putin as individuals. How are they different? How are they similar?
Mikhail Fishman
I would prefer to talk about how they're different, because those differences are so obvious and extreme. They come from very different worlds. Putin is an ex-Soviet intelligence officer with all that that implies. Trump is a colorful American businessman and showman.
In their habits, they're radically different. Trump is a posturing performer, full of idiotic narcissism. He appears to be a disorganized fool, to be honest. Putin, on the other hand, is calculating, organized, and he plans everything. He also hides much of his personal life in a way that Trump does not.
Then there's also the fact that Putin is so much more experienced than Trump. He has more than 15 years of global political experience. He knows how to do things, how to work the system. He makes plenty of mistakes, but he knows how to think and act. Trump is a total neophyte. He has no experience and doesn't understand how global politics operates. He displays his ignorance every single day.
...Sean Illing
Has Putin made a puppet of Trump?
Mikhail Fishman
Of course. This is certainly what the Kremlin believes, and they’re acting accordingly. They're quite obviously playing Trump. They consider him a stupid, unstrategic politician. Putin is confident that he can manipulate Trump to his advantage, and he should be.
Sean Illing
In other words, they see in Trump a useful idiot.
Mikhail Fishman
Exactly. The Kremlin is limited in their knowledge about what's going on in Washington, but they see the chaos and the confusion in Trump's administration. They see the clumsiness, the inexperience. Naturally, they're working to exploit that.
...Sean Illing
A pervasive concern in this country is that Trump admires Putin’s strongman authoritarianism, and seeks to replicate it in America. Do you think this concern is well-founded?
Mikhail Fishman
I think it is. Again, it comes to back what Trump and Putin have in common. They're both male chauvinists. Trump probably admires the fact that Putin is the kind of guy who feels the need to ride horses shirtless; it appeals to his authoritarian instincts. But this is about much more than imagery.
They are both illiterate people in a way. They're not widely educated. They do not believe in institutions. They see democratic institutions as burdens, impediments to their will. They don't believe that social and political life should be sophisticated; they think it should be simple.
And this sort of thinking naturally concludes in one-man rule. I think Trump will fail, but there’s no doubt that he shares these authoritarian impulses with Putin.

In March 2016, the New York Supreme Court ordered Ivanka Trump Fine Jewelry to pay over $3 million, plus interest, to KGK Jewelry LLC over a breach of contract dispute. Ivanka's company was required to make several payments to KGK for jewelry that it delivered, but refused to pay more than once.
The company argued that because KGK was one day late in returning certain computer design files and the jewelry was 'of substandard quality,' they were not obligated to make further payments.
The court rejected this argument and ordered Ivanka's company to pay $3,059,590.
Sanjay Kothari, Vice Chair of the KGK Group, said in a statement: 'As it has done throughout its 110-year history, KGK complied with all obligations to its customer here.
'We are pleased that the Court saw the matter exactly as we had, and that now we can return our attention to supplying the industry with beautiful gemstones and jewelry.'

The Republican-controlled Arizona Senate has passed a bill that would let law enforcement officials seize the assets of people who participate in protests that turn violent — even if those people had nothing to do with any violent incidents.
The Arizona Capital Times reports that the bill, which passed on Wednesday, “expands the state’s racketeering laws, now aimed at organized crime, to also include rioting,” while also redefining “what constitutes rioting to include actions that result in damage to the property of others.”
The bill would allow police to seize assets of anyone who attended a peaceful protest that happened to turn violent, and it also gives cops the power to arrest people who planned the events, even if they did not personally commit violence.....

Paul Manafort targeted for blackmail shortly before Ukraine ties forced him out of Trump campaign

Paul Manafort was apparently the target of a possible Russian blackmail attempt when he served as Donald Trump’s campaign chairman.
The undated messages — which have been hacked and then recently circulated by a hacktivist collective — were sent to an iPhone belonging to Manafort’s daughter in an attempt to reach her father, reported Politico.
Paul Manafort targeted for blackmail shortly before Ukraine ties forced him out of Trump campaign.
One text message appears to have come from a Ukrainian parliamentarian named Serhiy Leshchenko, who claimed to have “bulletproof” evidence of a financial arrangement between Manafort and Ukraine’s former pro-Russian president Viktor Yanukovych.
Leschenko is a former investigative journalist who is known as an anti-corruption crusader.
The message also claimed to have strong evidence that Trump met in 2012 with Serhiy Tulub, a close associate of the Ukrainian strongman Yanukovych.
.... He resigned two days later from the Trump campaign, although he denies receiving off-the-books payment from Yanukovych’s party and claims he was never contacted by Ukrainian or American authorities about the documents....
