On Real Time Senator Al Franken divulges what his Republican peers think of Donald Trump behind closed doors.

Courtesy of WaPo:

Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) said Friday night that his Republican Senate colleagues privately express “great concern” about President Trump's temperament, and he joked about the GOP eventually impeaching Trump.

Appearing on “Real Time with Bill Maher,” Maher asked Franken what Republicans really say behind closed doors.

Franken joked: “Well, there's a range in what they'll say, and some will say that he's not right mentally. And some are harsher.”

“No, no. That's not fair. That was cheap,” he continued. “There are some who I guess don't talk to me.”

I've always enjoyed Al Franken's dry sense of humor and he was in rare form last night.

However I also feel that what he was saying about the Republican Senators was in large part quite accurate.

I am sure that many of them are at their wits end trying to figure out what Donald Trump is going to screw up next.

I like how Franken summed up Trump's behaviors in the end of the interview:

"This is very, very very disturbing that the president has a habit of either imagining things, or making stuff up. That's not....it''s really outside the norm of, not just the presidency, but of human beings."

Now as much as I enjoyed Al Franken's portion of the show last night, I was not at all happy with that asshole Piers Morgan whose arrogant attitude, and attempts to suggest that people were overreacting to Donald Trump, really started to piss me off by the end of the show.

Which is why I actually yelled out "You tell him Jim" when comedian Jim Jeffries said this right before New Rules:

Believe me after listening to that insufferable twit for almost 45 minutes that was the perfect response.

Update: A certain very well known author really enjoyed Jefferies response to Piers Morgan as well.

Trump was born into great wealth, threw tantrums, was coddled to. He isn't smart but he uses what worked in infancy. He's a dangerous child because the 70 year old shroud confuses folks into thinking he is an adult at some level. He isn't. He is an emotional retard.

"A 19-year-old in Georgia became the youngest eligible woman ever to run for office in Georgia after she won a legal battle on Thursday to compete in a local city council race.

State law requires that candidates be 21 to seek office, unless a city charter notes otherwise, according to Fox 5 Atlanta. The DeKalb county board of elections ruled that Mary-Pat Hector could run because the Stonecrest City Charter simply says that candidates must be over voting age. Her opponent had challenged her candidacy, saying she was too young.

“Justice was served, and the law prevailed. The board’s decision is a testament to the inclusion of the next generation’s participation in the democratic process,” Hector said in a statement.

Hector, a Spelman College student and a youth coordinator with the National Action Network nonprofit said that she ran to give more young people a voice.

“Young people are starting to really understand and see that they can truly be a part of the political system and they can truly run for office,” she told CBS 46. She also expressed confidence to the station that she could balance her responsibilities being a student and a politician.

The city council election is on March 21."

War of the sexes is not the answer. Respect of gender is. And we could use alitte old fashion manners and morals. Act like a lady and Act like a gentleman. And teach your children respect. Oh yea, because respect has worked so well for the last several thousand years.

Blind respect is not the answer. There are many, many people that tried that respect shit. Know what we got? Shit on and disrespected and a self titled pussy grabber for a so called president that is just fine with the words cunt, shit, fuck, pussy and a few others. Don't talk to me about respect.

Another person that wants to censor everything that THEY don't like or agree with.

Why don't you tell me who's forcing you to watch that nasty, dirty, trashy, cheap crap displayed on t.v.? If you don't watch them, how would you know that they are nasty or dirty or trashy or anything else?

You must be referring to those lying, nasty, dirty, trashy, cheap crap religious programs.

You may want to check, I'm not sure, but the last time I checked, this was still America where I can watch whatever the hell I want to watch. I sure don't need your permission to do it. Really pisses you off, doesn't it?

Franken's been so great these past weeks. Between his interview comments and tough stuff on the Senate floor, he has rocked.

OT, but if anyone else saw that bit of video footage that was released this hour showing the Abes and the Trumps posing outside the Mar a Lago doors, did you too think the Melania body language was weird? For one thing, I think she may have been half drunk. She looked like a goof at the top of the steps posing sideways and lifting her face and changing her head positions (trying not to act too obvious about it) for the camera, and then they came down a few steps to pose again and she could barely keep her balance as she walked down the stairs--I was ready to see a fall and would have loved it. Then, she kept touching Lardass' hand with hers and he was having none of it. When the picture taking was over and she turned around with the others to go back inside, she was like a bat out of hell and left the others behind.

I noticed her unusual facial expressions too. I thought she was posing like a model as if this was a photo shoot. Did anyone notice how quickly she goes from a smile to a scowl? This is not a happy person and it shows. It's understandable since there is no warmth and no complicity between these two. No wonder she wanted to stay in New York.

I agree, Martha, maybe Melania was trying to pose as a genuine high fashion model which she never was. I am so embarrassed for the Japanese prime minister and his wife. What a nightmare it must be - to be entertained so intimately by the Trumps. Ugh.

    3. I think she was annoyed she has to leave New York every once in a while to do this first lady crap.

Yes, she was absolutely doing the photo shoot model thing.

I think she tries to touch Hair Furor as a means of tagging him as her property. He many not be much and she may not like the marriage, but he belongs to her. Or at least his bank account does.

I also think she looks a bit angry most of the time because she didn't want to be first lady and told him so but he went ahead and ran for office anyway. Probably assured her he'd lose. Then when he won she's now stuck. Behind closed doors there may have been a full out I'm not moving fight ending in the excuse for her continuing to live in New York.

As for this visit by the Abes, I suspect Trump is going to drag every visiting dignitary to Florida to show off his real house because he's embarassed about that public housing dump he's forced to live in in Washington D.C.

Face it. The Trumps have no couth.

You know, these GOP members of Congress and their spokespersons are incredibly dum. The ACA has been in force for about eight years now and the "death panel" fear tactic was proven to be nonsense in 2009. Why bring it up again? Eliminating every last vestige of the ACA will create de facto "death panels" because many people will be unable to afford heath insurance, especially once Social Security and Medicare are gutted and gone. It's the GOP that will end up creating and maintaining the "death panels." They can't blame President Obama or the Democrats in Congress for that.

The Underpinnings Of Donald Trump’s Approval/Disapproval Rating

...One striking characteristic of Trump’s initial job rating is the relative intensity of disapproval. In our most recent full week of tracking, for example, far more Americans strongly disapprove of the way Trump is handling his job (41 percent) than strongly approve (29 percent). That gap means that Trump’s overall 46 percent approval rating includes 17 percent who only “somewhat approve” of his performance.

Trump’s Approval Rating Tumbles To All-Time Low In Latest Gallup Poll

Just when it looked like Donald Trump’s historically low approval ratings couldn’t get any worse, a new survey from Gallup shows them falling to an all-time low for the polling firm since he took office three weeks ago.

According to the poll, just 41 percent of Americans think the new president is doing a good job. A majority – 53 percent – say he’s doing a pretty terrible job as the nation’s 45th president.

His approval marks are worse than George W. Bush’s right after Hurricane Katrina and well below the 48 percent approval rating Barack Obama averaged throughout his successful two-term presidency.

The new data comes days after Trump took aim at polls, calling them “fake news” if they find that he or his policies are unpopular.

While Trump – and many of his supporters – like to dismiss any bad poll number or news story about him as “fake,” there is no doubting that the new president is already deeply unpopular. This isn’t a new phenomenon either; he’s never been seen very positively by the American people.

The fact that his brief time in the White House has been nothing short of a trainwreck – from threatening our allies with military action and wreaking havoc on America’s airports to nominating unqualified cabinet members and throwing a stunning number of Twitter tirades – makes it no surprise that Trump’s approval ratings are continuing to fall to levels never seen by a new president.

Each executive order has been "something" that people can legitimately react to. Are we supposed to wait for the administration to order mass murder or to shut down all the hospitals before we react? People are paying attention and they do not like what they are seeing. So, yes, they should let the GOP and Trump know what they think. This is a democracy. Morgan probably thinks that people should just sit down and shut up until they can vote again and have their votes not count, again.

DNC Candidate Blasts Trump: He’s A ‘Draft-dodging Chickenhawk President’

“I’ll be damned if we’re going to have a draft-dodging chickenhawk president of the United States – who thinks he’s too smart to read his own intelligence briefings – ordering the people I served with back into another conflict because he can’t be bothered to do his job properly,” said Buttigieg at a forum which included other DNC candidates, according to the Hill.

As the New York Times reported last year, Trump received five draft deferments from the military during the Vietnam War, including one for heel spurs. Buttigieg, on the other hand, was a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy Reserves and served seven months in Afghanistan.

At the forum, Buttigieg encouraged Democrats to remain strong in their opposition to Trump and “tap into the moral outrage” that has spread across the country in the form of mass protests. He also took Trump to task for his executive order that bars refugees and Muslims from entering the United States.

Rep. Keith Ellison, another frontrunner for DNC chair, got in on the action, too, calling Trump “misogynistic” and slamming the new administration’s crackdown on undocumented immigration which resulted in hundreds of arrests across the country this week.

“We’ve got to be in solidarity, we’ve got to be with them,” Ellison said, according to the Hill. “We’ve got to be on the line, carrying the sign.”

It is generally expected, and should damn well be demanded, that before a winning candidate for any political office is officially sworn in that they demonstrate a better than rudimentary comprehension of the U.S. Constitution. They do, in fact, swear to a deity to uphold and support the document that informs how the government functions. It is unclear, still, if Donald Trump has ever even perused the nation’s founding, and sustaining, document because he exhibits the traits of a failing seventh grade student who never opened a book or completed daily homework when it comes to how government works according to the dictates of the U.S. Constitution..

What is particularly troubling is that despite Trump surrounding himself with trusted advisors who do understand the Constitution, the man in the Oval Office has shown blatant animus for the document he swore an oath on two bibles to uphold. In fact, over three short weeks in office Trump has demonstrated that he does comprehend how the government is supposed to work according to the Constitution, but like everything unrelated to praising Donald Trump, he rejects it as “disgraceful.”

Although Trump hasn’t yet said the Constitution is disgraceful, he has spent no small amount of time claiming the governing processes, like separation of powers and checks and balances, ensconced in the Constitution are “disgraceful” because they prevent him from “ruling” unopposed.

I doubt that one should assume that Trump's White House advisors "understand the Constitution." Surely the 31 year-old who penned the immigration ban executive order did not have a clue about the Constitution.

‘It’s like Hunger Games or Game of Thrones’: Obama advisor shocked by Trump’s White House chaos

...“Look, I’ve been in Washington a long time, I’ve watched a lot of White Houses, I’ve never seen anything like what’s happening here,” he said. “There are clearly factions, I don’t know who’s in what faction, but the things that White House officials are saying to other White House officials on background to reporters is mind boggling. Every day you read another story about someone in the White House trashing Sean Spicer, saying that Trump doesn’t support him, doesn’t like him, that Reince Priebus is out of favor because he supported Sean Spicer. In White Houses, presidents get mad at staffers, staffers get mad at each other, but you don’t read it in the paper in a minute by minute basis. It appears to people on the outside like it is pure chaos. It’s like ‘Hunger Games’ or ‘Game of Thrones’ in there.’

  28. Donald not Doanld in title. SP CK.

    SNL was fabulous tonight.

The Cold Open was Melissa McCarthy reprising Spicer and she was even Spicier. More gum, the put her lectern on a Segway and she hawked Ivanka's crap. Kate came out as Jeff Sessions.

Later they did a bit with Leslie Jones auditioning as Trump.

And Baldwin's Trump went to the People's Court to sue the 9th District court.

I'm crossing my fingers for Rosie O'Donnell as Steve Bannon real soon.

It's a shame Chris Christie is out. They could have brought in Roseanne to do Christie.

I didn't think McCarthy could top last week but she sure did.

Trump should be tweeting any minute now.

  29. I hate to admit this, but I did see one show of Maher's where all three panelists were liberals, and it was rather boring watching everyone simply agree on everything.

So, as much as you want to bitchslap assholes like Morgan and the rabid junkyard dog blondes who won't stop talking unless they are knocked off their chairs...

...its necessary to have the batshit view represented. I do wonder, however, if they'd more effectively put their views across if they didn't act so outright insane.

Ask a green card holder, Why are you here? Do you like America and the answer was, oh yeah sure America is ok, I'm here because I can make lots of money.
You know what? I beginning to take that as an insult. Yes America has lots of money and for millions of foreign moochers to siphon money from our society while our jobs and wages dissolve sucks. I don't like that attitude. They should be extremely thankful to be here and to help our country and society not break down our history.

If they come here legally with a job offer that will be good for them and their families and they work hard at that job, how does that make them "moochers"?

Maybe if republicans and their moronic followers didn't have so much contempt for science and education, the US wouldn't need to bring in people from other countries to do the work ignorant Americans sneer at.

@3:35 AM There is a group of unemployed adults who live next to a dead lake in Wasilla, Alaska who get free Native Healthcare, use OPM, and do nothing in return. Are they 'moochers'? All of the so-called illegals work hard for their money. Do you mow your own lawn? Do your neighbors hire 'illegals' to do their 'dirty work'? Wake up clowns, you are no better than those hard working people who come here to enhance their living. When was the last time that Sarah, Todd, Bristol, Track, and Dakota got up early in the morning to go to work?
