Republican gets booed and mocked during town hall for trotting out the old lie about death panels.

Courtesy of HuffPo:

Constituents at a Florida town hall that Rep. Gus Bilirakis (R-Fla.) hosted erupted when another Republican official made the long-debunked claim that Americans are subject to so-called death panels under the Affordable Care Act.

Bill Akins, the secretary of the Republican Party of Pasco County, made the claim during the town hall on Saturday.

“Here’s the problem I have with the affordable healthcare act. Number one, there is a provision in there that anyone over the age of 74 has to go before what is effectively a death panel,” he said, prompting immediate screams and boos from the audience. “Yes they do, yes they do, it’s in there folks.”

Akins went on to label the audience childish for calling him out on the lie. “OK children, all right children,” he said.

I can't believe he called them children.

You just KNOW that will be showing up in political ads in 2018, and probably 2020 as well.

And for him to resurrect Sarah Palin's 2009 Lie of the Year, is simply unconscionable.

Clearly this is a well informed audience, and they simply were not going to allow these assholes to lie to them anymore.

Republicans being fact checked and called out on their lies in real time.  Whatever will they do?

I used to to live in that area for 25 years. Gus Bilirakis is the Repub Rep not the Bill Atkins asshole who is the Pasco County Repub Secretary. He is from Illinois and has a brother who lives there so he is just another rabble rousing snowbird nut job.

Donald Trump Praises Adviser Stephen Miller for His Round of Lies This Sunday

...So this is what it takes to get love from Trump. A slavish commitment to deny reality, refusal to say anything that hasn’t been pre-approved, and the steady repetition of inaccuracies and flat out lies.

To put this in context, Trump is not getting enough of a boost from Kellyanne Conway’s devotion to fiction, or from Spicer’s raging tirades at the press, complete with show and tell of Trump’s beloved and misleading props. For the real juice, Trump requires more dishonesty. So much more.

Leslie Jones as Trump: the SNL sketch that just finished off Donald Trump’s fragile psyche

...The sketch saw Leslie Jones donning an orange wig and bushy eyebrows so she could try to sell her Donald Trump impression to Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels. When he rejected it, she began angrily ranting and smashing up his office, in a fashion one might imagine the real Trump was acting right around the time he realized he was being portrayed by a woman.

If Donald Trump thought it made Spicer look “weak” (his word) to be portrayed by a woman, what must Trump have been thinking when a woman portrayed him tonight? Just to rub it in, the sketch also had another Saturday Night Live cast member, Vanessa Bayer, portraying Trump as well. So there you have it: three different people portrayed Trump on SNL tonight, including a guy he hates (Baldwin), and two women who may well have finished off his fragile psyche.

If you're trying to describe trepanning (a.k.a. trepanation, trephination, trephining) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trepanning it entails drilling one or more holes in the skull, not the brain. Try drilling holes in a bowl of jelly and see how far you get. The reason for this reference is not clear, given that the remainder of your comment does appear to be about lobotomies.

Lobotomy (a.k.a. leukotomy or leucotomy) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lobotomy is cutting or slicing a lobe of the brain, not drilling a hole in it.

Donald Trump reportedly interviews Sean Spicer’s replacement; Spicer lashes out online

What began as a bad week for White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer appears to be ending on a much, much worse note. After Spicer was portrayed last weekend on Saturday Night Live by Melissa McCarthy, Donald Trump reportedly concluded that being played by a woman made Spicer look “weak.” Trump then took away Spicer’s Communications Director title. And now it appears Spicer may be out as Press Secretary as well, as Trump reportedly just interviewed his potential replacement.

A real shame. I was looking forward to more McCarthy as Spicer.

But there is still Rosie as Bannon to look forward to. (I really hope they do it.)

Oh, but he's an ex-Navy seal and apparently as much of a Nazi as Bannon.

But it's not like he has any qualifications to be a Communications director or a press secretary. He just looks good in a suit.

Here's hoping the press eats him alive.

Did Donald Trump secretly meet with a Russian oligarch today in Florida?

When traveling reporters arrived with Donald Trumpet his golf course in Florida today, they were promptly escorted to the semi-summerged “basement” floor — where they were then stranded in a room whose windows had been covered with black plastic sheeting. The message could not have been more clear: they would not be allowed to see whatever it was Trump was doing at the golf club. And that could be because he was meeting up once again with his favorite Russian oligarch.

At the beginning of the week, Daily Kos documented the curious case of Dmitry Rybolovlev, who has done multimillion dollar real estate business with Donald Trump in the past, and who seems to arriving on a private plane whenever Trump arrives in a destination city. For instance the two of them made a point of being in Concord, North Carolina at the exact same handful of hours, with no good reason for them both to have been there. And now, based on plane numbers and flight plans, internet sleuths now believe they’ve sussed out that Rybolovlev flew from Switzerland into West Palm Beach today during the time that Donald Trump just happened to be there.

If this is the case, then it could explain Trump’s motive for taking the bizarre step of essentially locking reporters in the dungeon today while he was supposedly just playing a round of golf with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

...Are the aggressive handshake and the incorrect name merely instances of Donald Trump not understanding the importance of international customs? After appearing on four Sunday news shows, Stephen Miller, a top adviser to President Donald Trump, was ruthlessly mocked on Twitter.

Broadcasting from the White House briefing room, Miller repeated the same talking points in interviews with CBS, NBC, ABC and Fox. The Trump adviser likely refused to appear on CNN due to the White House’s ongoing campaign against the cable network.

Miller defended Trump’s travel ban on seven majority-Muslim countries by fear mongering and insisting that the judiciary was not the “supreme” branch of government for deciding what is constitutional. He also claimed that White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer was “always” 100 percent correct.

‘False’: CNN smacks down Trump claim they cut off Bernie Sanders for calling them ‘fake news’

Once again showing they are not going to take accusations from Donald Trump lightly, CNN responded with a “fact check” of an early Sunday morning tweet from the President saying the network cut off Sen. Bernie Sanders (VT-I) mid-sentence when he used the words “fake news.”

The president was up bright and early Sunday morning, surprisingly attacking CNN instead of Saturday Night Live, after apparently seeing a piece on Fox & Friends where the hosts claimed CNN cut off Sanders as he called them out for reporting “fake news.”

“While on FAKE NEWS @CNN, Bernie Sanders was cut off for using the term fake news to describe the network. They said technical difficulties!” Trump tweeted.

CNN’s own media analyst Brian Stelter immediately returned fire at the president, tweeting, “Untrue. Sanders was *criticizing Trump* for calling CNN ‘fake news.’ You can see for yourself, all 11 minutes, here,” with a link to the video.

Stelter then added, “Stop me if you’ve heard this one before. But @Fox&Friends the Bernie ‘technical difficulties’ thing at 6:40. Trump tweeted at 7:14”

Appearing on CNN’s State of the Union, Tapper asked Franken about his comments on Friday night’s Real Time on HBO when the Minnesota senator said some believe Trump is “not right, mentally.”

“I know that was comedy, but is it true that some Republican colleagues expressed concerns about Trump’s mental health?” the CNN host asked.

“A few,” Franken replied. “It’s not the majority of them, a few.”

    “In what way?” Tapper pressed.

“In the way that we all have this suspicion that –– he lies a lot, he says things that aren’t true. That’s the same as lying, I guess, ” Franken said with a knowing smile. “You know, three to five million people voted illegally. There’s a new one about people going in from Massachusetts. Republicans Do Their Best To Downplay And Discredit Nationwide Protests

Here's the latest talking point from the right attempting to discredit the massive protests we've seen around the country since Trump took office -- they have no "consistent message."

We've already seen everyone from Trump himself and his aides, to Jason Chaffetz, to Fox "News" doing their best to portray the protests and angry crowds turning up at Republican town hall meetings as nothing more than paid agitators or part of some grand conspiracy involving George Soros.

This Sunday, former Huckabee/Bachmann/Santorum/Romney/Cruz flack Alice Stewart rolled out their latest talking point, which is that these protests might be effective if they just had a "consistent message," which, of course, is not true either.

Chris Wallace Turns The Table: 'If Something Happens To [Judges], Should We Blame Trump?

Fox News' Sunday's host Chris Wallace turned the table around on Trump and his policy adviser Stephen Miller when he asked If Trump claims a judge would put the country in danger, if then something happens to a judge after being criticized by Donald, is Trump at fault?

Trump and his surrogates have been playing the fear card over and over again to build support for their Muslim ban, going as far as making up terrorist attacks.

As Fox News host Brian Kilmeade said, it would be the judge's fault if we are hit with a terrorist attack because they rebuked Trump's executive order, but asking for the same responsibility from the sitting president is too much of a burden.

Trump's policy adviser made the rounds on the morning talk shows and joined Chris Wallace. After repeating the same talking points on every show about how hundreds of terrorists have plotted to attack the U.S. since entering the country, Wallace turned the subject around.

Wallace smartly laid out his premise, "I want to pick up on that, and your criticism of the judges, because after Judge Robart’s initial order, President Trump tweeted this, I want to put it on the screen,

"Just cannot believe a judge would put our country in such peril. If something happens, blame him and the court system. People pouring in. Bad!"

"But now, Stephen, that judge is getting death threats. So, the question is, if something happens to him, should we blame President Trump?" Wallace asked.

From: JimWright'sFBpage:" I have the same problem with Republican politics as I do with their religion -- though at this point the two are so intertwined they are for all intents and purposes the same thing. Republican politics have become indistinguishable from their horrible religion" when even a crowd of old white Florida conservatives won't buy your hysterical anti-Obama bullshit, you might need to seriously rethink your position."

  25. "Republicans being fact checked and called out on their lies in real time. Whatever will they do?"

    What will they do?

They'll call their constituents children and insult their intelligence. They will bully them into shutting up and will continue to double down on their propaganda and LIES.

They don't understand that there are informed and intelligent voters with the backbone to object and call them on their bullshit.

I'm proud the public is starting to stand up to these bullies and call them the LIARS they are.

The only way we will be able to reinstate the government our Constitution set up is to hold these assholes accountable and to VOTE them out at the first opportunity.

They need to understand that they serve US. They are public servants. If they do not do their jobs, we are the ones they should be afraid of.

But the only way we can do that is by teaching them the consequences of crossing us. And the only way to do that is to actually VOTE them OUT.

That means voting in EVERY election, not just the ones where there is a presidential candidate on the ticket.

Republicans have taken advantage of the fact that Democrats don't take their duty as citizens seriously enough to vote in EVERY election and they have taken over our state legislatures. That needs to change and fast.

    Know what?
    I read the ACA
and to this guy and Sarah Palin, when they say
    "death panel"
YOU should say - "SHOW ME"
Because there is no "death panel" in the ACA.
    Total lie.
(And that's why they don't simply pull out a copy of the ACA and show you: because they can't: because it isn't true.)
