SNL enjoying highest ratings in 22 years.

Courtesy of Yahoo News:

If President Donald Trump tweets about Saturday Night Live‘s terrible ratings, consider it the fakest of news: In reality, the NBC sketch-comedy series is having its most-viewed season in 22 years.

The most recent SNL, in which Melissa McCarthy lampooned White House press secretary Sean Spicer, nabbed a 2.5 rating among adults 18-49, according to TVLine’s sister site, Variety. As such, the late-night laugher ranked behind only CBS’ The Big Bang Theory as the highest rated program in the demo. These numbers are in line with SNL‘s overall Season 42 viewership — its best since Season 20 — which is up 19 percent in the demo and 22 percent in total viewers over last year.

SNL‘s recent success is likely to irk the ratings-conscious Trump, who used part of his speaking time at February’s National Prayer Breakfast to malign Arnold Schwarzenegger’s stewardship of Celebrity Apprentice, which Trump used to host (and on which he is still credited as an executive producer).

Oh yeah, this is going to piss Cheeto Hitler off big time.

Which is why it's such awesome news.

I have to admit that this is the first time since Tina Fey was mocking our favorite dimwitted Mat-Su moron that I have so actively looked forward to Saturday nights.

Dem Rep. To Introduce Bill To Get Trump Mental Health Services

I love Blue America's Rep. Ted Lieu for a thousand reasons, but this may be the best reason ever.

Concerned by Trump's constant lying, Rep. Lieu plans to introduce a bill to get Trump some professional help, stat.

In an interview with the Huffington Post. Lieu explained, “I’m looking at it from the perspective of, if there are questions about the mental health of the president of the United States, what may be the best way to get the president treatment? We’re now in the 21st century. Mental health is just as important as physical health.”

He got specific about Trump, too.

"It is not normal for the president of the United States, within 24 hours, to write about death and destruction and fake news and evil,” he told Jennifer Bendery. “The most troubling aspect of this is it is very clear he has a disconnection from the truth."

I can't stand Sarah Palin and would consider her as ambassador to Canada to be insulting.

Having said that, something needs to be cleared up regarding her trips to Canada for health care. First of all, I have never seen any quote from her that she got "free" health care in Canada. Secondly, in the 1960's when she claims to have received Canadian health care, there was no "socialized" health care in the Yukon. Lastly, even if there had been, her family would have still had to pay for it as they were not residents of the Yukon or a Canadian citizens.

By the way, as a Canadian who has been treated for 9 years with kidney cancer, I have nothing but good to say about the system. I've had many CT Scans, Bone Scans, MRIs, 6 operations, 3 sessions of radiation therapy, numerous blood transfusions, chemo and immunotherapy, and have seen many specialists. We do not have "death panels" here, but we do have a triage system that prioritizes treatments depending on urgency. This can result in longer wait times for some less urgent surgeries, however in my case, and cases I've heard of in my circle of friends and relatives who have had various cancers and heart conditions, wait times have not been an issue. My costs have been zero.

The system is not perfect, but it is nowhere near as bad as the reports I see from people in the US.

Trump is the Fighter-in-Chief… But What About Governing?

    Fighter-in-chief

As we enter Day 21 of Donald Trump's presidency, one theme of his first three weeks on the job is how he picks fights with, well, almost anyone. Just look at the last 24 hours:

    ● Trump appeared to criticize the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals panel hearing the dispute over his travel ban:

"I don't want to ever call a court biased, so I won't and we haven't had a decision yet, but courts seem to be so political and it would be so great for our justice system if they would read a statement to do what's right."

    ● He went after Nordstrom for dropping his daughter's clothing line:

"My daughter Ivanka has been treated so unfairly by @Nordstrom. She is a great person -- always pushing me to do the right thing! Terrible!"

    ● He -- once again -- attacked the news media:

"[The American people] have great respect and admiration for the people in this room and the people that you represent. And don't let anyone ever tell you different,"

    ● Trump told an audience of police chiefs and sheriffs.

"Don't let the dishonest media try and convince you that it's different than that, because it's not."

    ● His press secretary took a shot at John McCain for calling the U.S. military raid in Yemen unsuccessful:

"Anybody who undermines the success of that raid owes an apology and a disservice to the life of Chief Owens."

    ● When asked by NBC's Kristen Welker if that was the same message to McCain, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer responded,

"That's my message to anybody who says that."

    ● And this morning, Trump went after Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) for relaying that Supreme Court pick Neil Gorsuch said Trump's attacks on the judiciary were "disheartening" and "demoralizing":

"Sen.Richard Blumenthal, who never fought in Vietnam when he said for years he had (major lie),now misrepresents what Judge Gorsuch told him?" (In fact, per NBC's Frank Thorp, a spokesman for Gorsuch said he did use the words "disheartening" and "demoralizing.")

    But where's the governing?

Yet as Trump picks fights with these different entities -- Democrats, Republicans, businesses -- it's worth reminding everyone what his administration HAS NOT accomplished. New Attorney General Jeff Sessions became just the eighth member of Trump's team to win Senate confirmation, versus 26 for Barack Obama at this same point in time in 2009. More importantly, outside of his executive actions, Trump hasn't made progress on his big-ticket agenda items (Obamacare repeal and replace, tax relief, paying for that border wall)

Trump's dig at Nordstrom could come back to haunt him

Here's Politico on Trump's anti-Nordstrom tweet yesterday: "Norm Eisen, a former Obama administration ethics czar, called the move "outrageous" on Twitter and said Nordstrom should consider suing under the California Unfair Competition Law, which forbids "any unfair" business act. Sen. Bob Casey (D-Pa.) also replied to Trump's tweet, by "cc"ing the Office of Government Ethics. Casey's press secretary Jacklin Rhoads said in an emailed statement that the senator 'feels it is unethical and inappropriate for the President to lash out at a private company for refusing to enrich his family.' Richard Painter, the former chief ethics lawyer in the Bush administration, weighed in, too, saying the tweet was 'absolutely unacceptable.' 'This is misuse of public office for private gains,' he said. 'And it is abuse of power because the official message is clear — Nordstrom is persona non grata with the Administration.'" Just a reminder: If Democrats were in charge of Congress, you'd start having hearings on this ASAP

Yahoo News - 14 hours ago

Insider: Donald Trump furious with Kellyanne Conway for admitting CNN isn’t fake news

...“I cannot describe how angry the President is with Kellyanne for admitting that CNN is not fake news,” the staffer has revealed. The backstory on Conway goes further: “Kellyanne says mean things about the job you did but she doesn’t stop there. She just digs in on people until they’re crying in a bathroom. When the Bowling Green Massacre story was trending you literally could not say “Hi” to Kellyanne without her cutting you to bits. If you want to know what working with Kellyanne is like, imagine ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ but meaner and with worse fashion.”

This comes at a time when Trump appears to be furious at nearly everyone on his staff for the fact that his White House is coming unglued. He blames Steve Bannon for tricking him into appointing him to the National Security Council. He just demoted Sean Spicer. And now according to the rogue White House account, he’s pissed at Kellyanne Conway as well.

Insider: Donald Trump considering withdrawing Neil Gorsuch from Supreme Court

Donald Trump’s White House is already in such chaos that staffers are leaking embarrassing details to newspapers on a daily basis, in an apparent attempt at letting the outside world know that Trump is spiraling out of control. In addition, a number of rogue White House Twitter accounts have popped up, revealing alleged insider information as well. One of those reports tonight is a stunner: Trump is supposedly considering withdrawing Neil Gorsuch’s nomination from the Supreme Court, after Gorsuch criticized Trump today.

White House staffer ‏@AngryWHStaffer Feb 8

--Priebus is trying to talk sense to the Presdident but I don't know how Gorsuch survives the weekend.

--Unless he apologized for his comments I'd be surprised if the President doesn't withdraw the Gorsuch nomination. Trump is insanely angry.

--I worked for George W. Bush and he would've said something heartfelt and sorrowful about Quebec.

--For the record I'm personally so ashamed by the President's silence about the Quebec massacre.

--I cannot describe how angry the President is with Kellyanne for admitting that CNN is not fake news.

--This is very true. Wonder who the source was? Hmm. 🤔

--That's not the President's only unflattering nickname. For a week after the first press conference he called Spicer "Pinstripes".

--After her terrible performance at the hearing, the President was furious at Betsy DeVos. Kept referring to her as "the idiot".

--Bannon is getting reeled back in. But he absolutely ran the show for the first two weeks. Priebus ascendant.

White House staffer ‏@AngryWHStaffer Feb 6

--The President had been talking about how much nicer Mar-a-lago is than the White House. Drives me nuts. It's a privilege to live here!

--If you want to know what working with Kellyanne is like, imagine "The Devil Wears Prada" but meaner and with worse fashion.

--People ask me why I don't resign. If everyone here who was a decent human resigned there'd be nothing left but bloodthirsty psychos!

Taking down Mitch McConnell is the first major step to taking down Donald Trump.

Trump’s primary human shield has turned out to be Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.

On some level this shouldn’t come as a wholesale surprise. McConnell was the one who was hellbent on getting Donald Trump elected, to the point that he helped quash the U.S. intelligence reports during the election which concluded that Russia was trying to rig the election for Trump. And the reason seems obvious enough: Trump picked McConnell’s wife, Eliane Chao, for his cabinet.

    https://www.palmerreport.com/opinion/want-to-take-down-donald-trump-take-down-his-human-shield-mitch-mcconnell-first/1439/

If liberals are going to defeat Donald Trump, they need to stop being ignorant about politics

...Within the context of the absolute certainty from the start that Jeff Sessions was going to be confirmed, the Democrats scored a victory with the hearings. Elizabeth Warren managed to bait Republican Senate Leader Mitch McConnell into attacking her in a rude and sexist manner which also pitted him against Coretta Scott King. The Democrats got their message across to the American political middle that Sessions is a racist, Trump is a racist, and McConnell is a jackass. And that’s what matters of course, because Trump will sink or swim based entirely on his approval rating, and that’s determined by whether the people in the middle side with his supporters or his detractors.

And so after fifty-two Senate Republicans all came together to make sure Jeff Sessions would be confirmed in a manner that the Democrats simply could not stop, Democratic Senator Joe Manchin did something smart tonight: he cast a meaningless vote for Sessions, and in so doing, he just got himself reelected in 2018.

---Joe Manchin did a smart thing tonight. He helped the liberals, and he helped the Democratic Party. He just got himself reelected to the Senate in 2018 in a conservative state. That’s one seat the Democrats won’t have to worry as much about losing now, to what would surely have been an extremist conservative Republican.

Coretta Scott King’s Daughter Speaks Up And AGAINST Republicans, And It’s Brilliantly BRUTAL

When it comes to strategizing an offense against Donald Trump and the Republicans, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King’s daughter Bernice King might just be on to something.

While the words and actions of Trump are horrific all by themselves, it’s important to remember that he is not working alone. He has the support of those working closely around him and the support of the Republican party. So far, they’ve been backing his ideas and confirming all his nominations for his Cabinet.

    4. Or he just shot himself in the foot.

The DNC could very well decide to run an opponent in the primary and put the full force of their money and influence behind that opponent and take Manchin out in the primary.

I think they should do it. Even if the Republican wins, the outcome is no different than if Manchin stayed in the seat. And they have a shot of putting a *real* democrat in that spot.

It would also send the very important signal to other Blue Dogs. You cross us, you'll pay.

This is the discipline the Democratic party needs. Senators and Representatatives need to be more afraid of what their own party will do to them if they cross than what the Republicans will do to them if they don't cooperate.

Kellyanne Conway Breaks The Law With 'Go Buy Ivanka's Stuff'

Will there be any repercussions for blatantly breaking the law? Of course not. This is Trump World afterall, where the normal rules and laws just don't apply. That Conway did so from within the White House just exposes how dangerously ignorant this class of clowns really are about their functions and duties.
    Source: The Week

Speaking from the White House press briefing room on Thursday, Kellyanne Conway told Americans they should "go buy Ivanka [Trump's] stuff" following reports that many retailers are dropping Ivanka's eponymous clothing line.

"I'm going to give it a free commercial here; go buy it today," Conway told the hosts of Fox & Friends while noting that the president's daughter "is in a very good place."

While Ivanka Trump does not have a formal role in the administration and has attempted to distance herself from her business, there have been stumbles along the way. On Wednesday, President Donald Trump slammed Nordstrom on Twitter for treating "my daughter Ivanka … so unfairly." "She's a great person," Trump complained in response to the store's discontinuation of Ivanka Trump's line, a decision Nordstorm said was made due to declining sales and not politics.

Trump called his pilot “a real expert” and recalled the pilot telling him, “Sir, the equipment they’re putting on is just the wrong stuff” — a topic Trump said he would discuss with the industry leaders because “if we’re going to modernize our systems we should be using the right equipment.”

“I mean, it’s one thing to order equipment, but let’s order the right equipment. Probably the wrong equipment costs more,” he added. “Probably buy the right equipment for less money. So we wanna talk about that because my pilot — he’s a smart guy and knows what’s going on — said the government is using the wrong equipment and instituting a massive multi-billion dollar project but they’re using the wrong type of equipment. So let’s find out about that.”

.... The president then cited someone he said he spoke to Wednesday. The person, as Trump told it, said that China and Japan “have fast trains all over the place.”
“I don’t wanna compete with your business,” he told the industry leaders, “but we don’t have one fast train. And it’s the same with our airports.”

Trump lamented the state of American airports, which he argued have devolved from best in class to “the bottom of the rung.” He called the nation’s airports, plane systems and trains “obsolete” — some of the roads, he noted, are “bad” — and vowed to “change all of that, folks.”

“You’re gonna be so happy with Trump,” he said. “I think you already are.”

I’ve been hearing that a little bit. At the same time, we want to make life good for them also. They come with big investments. In many cases, those investments are made by their governments, but they are still big investments.”<WTF? foreign carriersWTF?

"McConnell will do just about anything to prop Trump up. It’s also, as it turns out, the best way to take Trump down."
"GOP leaders like Paul Ryan and John McCain, and even thugs like Jason Chaffetz, wouldn’t hesitate to throw Trump under a bus in order to get themselves reelected and preserve their power, because they have no personal loyalty to him."when it comes to Mitch McConnell, it’s a family thing. He’ll ride Donald Trump all the way to the bottom if he has to. And if McConnell can be ruined by scandal, or even weakened by it, Trump will lose his human shield."his skeletons probably aren’t buried all that deep under the surface; they’ve just never been properly dug up. Start digging. Figure out what McConnell has been arrogantly and poorly hiding all these years. Does he have personal demons? Is there a financial scandal? These are the questions all journalists and activists must now research. Taking down Mitch McConnell is the first major step to taking down Donald Trump."

Mitch was in the army for 4=3 whole WEEKS. Discharged for "questionable conduct in the showers" So, someone dropped the soap, and Mitch thought it was a "come on"? Also, too when a young male aide of his took a job a few blocks away from Miss McConnell's office, Mitch CRIED at the going away announcement. Maybe the young aide was with someone younger, definitely had to better looking. So, there is his weak spot, in the closet. I also have questions about Ryan who sticks to Mitch like a second skin. I do not care if someone is gay, but keeping it hidden could be grounds for blackmail.

Trump’s Domestic Religious Crusade Has Begun in Earnest

The deliberate omission of white extremist attacks is necessary for Trump to convince Americans that the only one thing they have to fear is Islam.

Trump: 3 executive actions coming Thursday

President Donald Trump will sign three executive actions Thursday that are “designed to restore safety in America,” he told reporters in the Oval Office.

“We face the menace of rising crime and the threat of deadly terror,” Trump said, speaking shortly before Jeff Sessions was sworn in as attorney general. “I'm signing three executive actions today designed to restore safety in America.”

One would take aim at “criminal cartels,” while another would create a "task force on reducing violent crime,” Trump said. The third order would call on the Justice Department to start a program to prevent crime against law enforcement officers.

“A new era of justice begins and it begins right now,” Trump said.

California Farmers Surprised That Trump Is Anti-Immigrant

The LA Times reports that the biggest garlic producer in the country has adopted an intriguing new strategy:

Christopher Ranch, which grows garlic on 5,000 acres in Gilroy, Calif., announced recently that it would hike pay for farmworkers from $11 an hour to $13 hour this year, or 18%, and then to $15 in 2018. At the end of last year, the farm was short 50 workers needed to help peel, package and roast garlic. Within two weeks of upping wages in January, applications flooded in. Now the company has a wait-list 150 people long......

Fascinating! Someone should tell the rest of corporate America about this.

Meanwhile, the New York Times reports that California's farmers are taken aback that President Trump is getting tough on immigration:

Many assumed Mr. Trump’s pledges were mostly just talk. But two weeks into his administration, Mr. Trump has signed executive orders that have upended the country’s immigration laws. Now farmers here are deeply alarmed about what the new policies could mean for their workers, most of whom are unauthorized, and the businesses that depend on them.

Trump literally spent his entire campaign making immigration his first priority and trade his second. But all these conservative farmers in the San Joaquin Valley voted for him anyway because, you know, he was going to lower their taxes and Make America Great Again. Now they're shocked that his top priorities are...immigration and trade.

I'm beginning to think that maybe California's farmers aren't too bright.

    1. Of course, you know what that means, right?

The price of garlic is going to go up.

      That's the price you'll pay.

What we need is immigration reform so it's easier for immigrants to enter the country to get work, seasonal or not and eventually become citizens if that is their goal. A lot of illegal entry is simply because the process is too long and too expensive.
