Texas Senator gets so incensed over testimony against anti-abortion bill that he shatters a table with his gavel. Temper temper.

That last sound you heard was the glass on top of the table shattering.
Here is more on this courtesy of the San Antonio Current:

It only took state Sen. Charles Schwertner ten minutes of listening to testimony against anti-abortion bills before he broke a table.

Schwertner, the Republican chair of the Texas Senate's Committee on Health and Human Services, spent Wednesday morning introducing and defending a bill that would ban most women from donating fetal tissue from their abortions to science. His legislation was bundled with two other anti-abortion bills — one to throw out the safest abortion procedure for second-trimester pregnancies, the other to mandate all abortion remains are buried and cremated — penned by two other GOP senators, Charles Perry and Don Huffines.

When it was the turn of Maggie Hennessy, a UT student and intern with NARAL Pro-Choice Texas, to speak however Schwertnerkind of lost his shit:

"Ms. Hennessy —" Schwertner interrupted a minute into her testimony. "Your time is done."

But Hennessy went on, saying, "I urge you to all stop playing with reproductive health care like it's your own political puppet." That's when Schwertner dropped the gavel — so hard that he shattered the glass table before him.

"Your time is done," he repeated.

It should be noted that the Senator let a speaker from the anti-abortion advocacy group Texas Right to Life, speak at least twice as long and did not once lose control of his gavel.

Boy these male politicians sure do get testy when the lady folk argue against them taking away their right to control their own bodies.

It's almost as if they still consider them second class citizens, or perhaps simply property, or maybe something even worse.

London mayor: 'Cruel' Trump should be denied state visit
    The Associated Press

LONDON (AP) London's mayor says that President Donald Trump shouldn't receive a state visit in Britain because of his "cruel" policies on immigration.

Sadiq Khan said Sunday the U.S. president should not get VIP treatment when he comes to Britain later this year because of his "ban on people from seven Muslim-majorities countries" and his decision to block refugees from entering the United States.

Khan said that "in those circumstances we shouldn't be rolling out the red carpet."
He spoke one day before British legislators are expected to debate a proposal to downgrade the planned state visit. The debate was scheduled in response to an online petition calling for the honor to be rescinded.

A state visit usually includes extensive pomp and a stay at Buckingham Palace.

How Many Days Before President Pence?

...In any case, it seems likely that Donald Trump will be leaving the Presidency at some point, likely between the 31 days of William Henry Harrison in 1841 (dying of pneumonia) and the 199 days of James A. Garfield in 1881 (dying of an assassin’s bullet after 79 days of terrible suffering and medical malpractice). At the most, it certainly seems likely, even if dragged out, that Trump will not last 16 months and 5 days, as occurred with Zachary Taylor in 1850 (dying of a digestive ailment). The Pence Presidency seems inevitable.

Reeces Pieces made the rounds today, but he really stepped in it on Face the Nation. Dickerson got him to admit that it was ok for Flynn to be talking to the russians about sanctions before the inauguration and was therefore undermining the administration in charge. He also said that trump would have also approved this.

After he said it, I believe it dawned on him what he just said because he became very quite and wasn’t yakking non stop with his memorized talking points. Dickerson was smiling and ended the conversation.

    1. Anonymous8:02 AM

Priebus is panicking because NSA candidates won't even return phone calls. One told him he doesn't want to "work for a Russian plant".

More disturbing because today the President swore to the entire staff he will "rain fucking hell" on the lives of reporters he doesn't like.

House Republican leaders yesterday released a set of talking points they are attempting to position as their substitute for the Affordable Care Act (ACA).[1] But the document reveals that House Republicans still seek to repeal the ACA without putting forward a real replacement plan. They also intend to fast track a proposal to radically overhaul Medicaid, putting coverage for children, seniors, and people with disabilities at risk, in addition to ending the ACA’s Medicaid expansion for low-income adults.

The document makes clear that the starting point for any House Republican bill is the “repeal and delay” legislation that President Obama vetoed last year. By the end of a decade, that bill would result in 32 million people losing coverage and individual market premiums doubling, the Congressional Budget Office estimated.[2] The provisions that yesterday’s outline suggests House Republicans will add fall far short of repairing that damage; in the case of Medicaid, they would cause additional harm. And taken together, their approach would result in a significant transfer of resources from low- and middle-income families to those at the top.

...Yesterday’s document reveals that House Republicans plan to use ACA repeal as a vehicle for their longstanding proposals to radically restructure and cut Medicaid financing and coverage by converting the program to a per capita cap or a block grant. The document also confirms that House Republicans seek to effectively end the successful expansion of Medicaid under the ACA. Their plan would:

    1. Anonymous8:49 AM

Basically the republicans could care less what they throw out there, they are doing was is the EASIEST for them.

"Today in Obamacare: the GOP’s latest plan gives the wealthy extra help to buy insurance
Republican leadership on Thursday released a 19-page outline of how the party would like to replace Obamacare — including one change that sounds wonky but is a really huge deal.

...the Republican plan would base them on age. The result would be regressive: Wealthy people would get more help buying insurance, while poor people would likely get less assistance....

...The Republican plan is very different. It includes age-adjusted tax credits. Older people get more help, and younger people get less help. The idea is that older people need more support because they get charged higher premiums. But income does not matter at all. Under the Republican plan, it wouldn’t matter if a 30-year-old earned $15,000 or $150,000 — he would get the exact same tax credit. .....

Why switch to age-based tax credits?
This is a question I’ve put to about half a dozen conservative health care experts over the past few months, in formal interviews and less formal conversations. I kept hearing again and again that this wasn’t really a matter of principle — it’s just easier"....

‘That’s what they have in dictatorships’: Chris Wallace rips Priebus for wanting a ‘state-run media’.

They made it very clear that that story in the New York Times is complete garbage,” Priebus replied. “Quite frankly they used different words than that, okay?”

“Who was it that said that, ” Wallace shot back.

“I’m not going to tell you,” Priebus parried.

“Wait a minute, Reince,” a frustrated Wallace exclaimed. “You just complained about unnamed sources. You’re using an unnamed source.”

“Well, I didn’t ask for approval to use their name,” Priebus said after a long pause. “But when I say top level people, I mean top level people.”

... But you went a lot further than that, or the president went a lot further. He said that the fake media, not certain stories, that the fake media are an enemy to the country. We don’t have a state-run media in this country, that’s what they have in dictatorships.”

While it was likely intended to be perceived as a positive that Melania Trump accompanied her husband and participating vocally in the rally, the end result was anything but.

As President Trump descended the steps of Air Force One, Melania was left trailing behind her husband again. Donald Trump made no attempts to check on the status of his wife’s descent down those stairs either, as he reached the bottom and promptly arranged himself in the waiting vehicle, closing the door behind him. Once Melania had finished walking down the stairs, she quickly realized that Trump had planted himself in the seat nearest to the door and would not be moving over for her. That led to the first lady having to walk all the way around the vehicle to get herself situated in the waiting car.

    What a dick.

    1. Anonymous8:29 AM

One has to wonder just what in the blazes is in it for her to be treated as such. This is why I have absolutely no respect for her and never will.

    2. Anonymous8:52 AM

I noticed on several occasions she also walks a few steps behind him.

I figure it must be OK with her, if it isn't she should speak to her husband about it, you know the one she married for a green card.

  16. Anonymous8:15 AM

Trump has repeatedly called CNN the “fake news,” which is not a smart thing to do because the network is very clever. Without all of these attacks on the press, it is unlikely that the MENTAL photos would have made the cut.

Now, the timing is just too perfect. After that bizarre press conference, Trump’s pick for national security advisor bowed out Friday, and Congress has begun questioning their leader’s fitness.

Even before Trump was elected, USA Today’s editorial staff wrote:

‘He is erratic. Trump has been on so many sides of so many issues that attempting to assess his policy positions is like shooting at a moving target. A list prepared by NBC details 124 shifts by Trump on 20 major issues since shortly before he entered the race. He simply spouts slogans and outcomes (he’d replace Obamacare with “something terrific”) without any credible explanations of how he’d achieve them.’

Aravosis is not alone when he says:

‘I’ve never seen anything like it in an adult.’

I do. I've never seen anything like it in an adult.

Aravosis makes a good point. This flying by the seat of its pants administration ends up being simply sloppy. In a second tweet, Aravosis wrote:

‘And it’s real. I just took it watching Cnn [sic] live.’

"When Columbus first arrived in the New World, he described the indigenous people as friendly and causing no problems. He had been told by Queen Isabella to treat these people with respect and kindness, except if it became clear they are cannibals, in which case, all bets were off. Initially, the Spanish were looking for gold and, when they didn’t find it, they figured that the next best thing was slaves.

Lo and behold, when Columbus came back, the indigenous people who had previously been classified as friendly were suddenly described as cannibals, so you could do anything to them. You could enslave them, take their land, murder them, and treat them like PESTilence. And that’s exactly what happened">THEN JESUS and STDs

"Transubstantiation was believed to have taken place: The host and the wine literally became the flesh and blood of Christ. Therefore, in some sense, it was an act of cannibalism."

"if you look at the key reasons why cannibalism occurs across nature, it is usually due to overcrowding or a lack of alternative forms of nutrition." Tic Toc, Tick Tock
