Courtesy of the Chicago Tribune:
Barely a month into the Trump presidency, the unusually elaborate lifestyle of America's new first family is straining the Secret Service and security officials, stirring financial and logistical concerns in several local communities, and costing far beyond what has been typical for past presidents - a price tag that, based on past assessments of presidential travel and security costs, could balloon into the hundreds of millions of dollars over the course of a four-year term.
Adding to the costs and complications is Trump's inclination to conduct official business surrounded by crowds of people, such as his decision last weekend to host Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe for a working dinner while Mar-a-Lago members dined nearby.
Some of the known costs so far:
Trump's three Mar-a-Lago trips since the inauguration have likely cost the federal treasury roughly $10 million, based on figures used in an October government report analyzing White House travel, including money for Coast Guard units to patrol the exposed shoreline and other military, security and staffing expenses associated with moving the apparatus of the presidency.
Palm Beach County officials plan to ask Washington to reimburse tens of thousands of dollars a day in expenses for deputies handling added security and traffic issues around the cramped Florida island whenever Trump is in town.
In New York, the city is paying $500,000 a day to guard Trump Tower, according to police officials' estimates, an amount that could reach $183 million a year.
Earlier this month, The Post reported that Secret Service and U.S. embassy staff paid nearly $100,000 in hotel-room bills to support Eric Trump's trip to promote a Trump-brand condo tower in Uruguay.
"This is an expensive way to conduct business, and the president should recognize that," said Tom Fitton, president of the conservative group Judicial Watch, which closely tracked President Barack Obama's family vacation costs and said it intends to continue the effort for the Trump administration.
Yeah remember how the conservatives bitched about the cost of EVERY SINGLE ONE of President Obama's diplomatic visits to other countries and his vacations in Hawaii?
Well Trump's extravagant lifestyle is going to make those expenses look like pocket change.
He dont give a flying fuck how much it costs. Thats probably why he ran for prez. He will vacation at his properties and then bill secret service for the privilege of protecting him and lodging at a drumpf property. All for the price of 732 million, based on the projected yearly cost.
ReplyDeleteHmm who learned from who? Shitty Sarah's per diem ring a bell?
DeleteHe did joke during the campaign that he'd be the only president to get rich(er) by being in office. I guess the joke's on us, but so are the bills.
DeleteBeaglemom
Rarely will I quote the Heritage Foundation, but it claims that security etc. for Obama family travel cost $97 million over eight years.
DeleteNow here comes Tr*mp, ringing up $10 million for protection and travel in three weeks!
I could do the long-term math, but it's too damn depressing.
Well...what have you to say, "fiscal conservatives"?!?!? This 'MAN OF THE PEOPLE' - this 'Joe Six-Pack' from the Gilded Tower is p!ssing away OUR MONEY at an unprecedented rate!!! And, to boot, every time he jaunts down to Mar-a-Lago, businesses around there suffer - yeah, what a 'job-creator' /s;
ReplyDeletehttp://www.cbsnews.com/news/trumps-frequent-visits-are-hurting-say-small-business-owners-near-mar-a-lago/
Wtf! So this is what it means to be a "true conservative".
ReplyDeleteWhat a bunch of !alarky! Hang the sob!!and hang him high!!!!Fucking hypocrite! We must resist and go after these morons!!!
2:31 - Direct threat on the life of the POTUS.

Its a metaphor 2:49 . relax, karma will catch up with the bastards ruining our country. Which are the Nazi rethugs trump administration.
Delete2:49 FYI its an " alternative fact" as youse people would say.eh?
DeleteShoe is on the other foot .eh?
Ask kellyanne , she knows?
And now the sons are in Dubai. Can't wait to find out how much that will cost. I was very glad to see CNN spending a good amount of time, and more than once today, on the huge amounts of money the Trumps are costing taxpayers. And that they are actually profiting from this situation. it's disgusting.
ReplyDeleteObama had two young girls who were 7 and 10 when they moved into the WH. They needed normalcy and for their dad to spend time with them at those times of year when schools are on big breaks and families make sure that they spend time with their kids. There was so much bitching that BO wanted to be with his girls at such times as before the new school year. And BO actually went to Hawaii in large part because it made protecting the Obamas easier and cost less money. Trump has shown absolutely no interest in being there for Barron since 1/22 when Barron flew back to NY. I don't know what Barron's break situation is this month, but at Easter time he'll surely get a break. Will Fatass fly to NY and spend time with his kid? If he goes there, he'll act like he wants to spend break with his son, but he'll be "working" and coming out to stand in front of the camera all the time with someone famous or who he's considering hiring.
Have you ever thought that maybe Barron is better off away from his mentally ill father.
DeleteT.Rump is a FINO father in name and (maybe) sperm only. He has nada to do with the kids until they are adults. So say his kids, his ex-wives and the shitgibbon himself.
DeleteI seriously doubt that Trump spent much time with Barron before his presidential run. I suspect that works out brst for both of them.
Deletecheck headline: already not aleady
ReplyDeleteTrump is such a fiscal conservative, huh Sarah? Charging per diem to stay in your own house but on scale you can only dream about.
Hey, Sarah Palin called him a "blue collar billionaire" and she'd never misspeak, would she?!
ReplyDeleteParty of fiscal and personal responsibility, my ass.
Fuck Sarah. She couldn't cut the jobs she was elected to, and now tells everyone how to live with a fake pregnancy, delinquents, illegitimate grandkids, drug abusers, and domestic violence lovers in "her" life. What a babe.
DeleteTrump’s ‘bizarre, volatile behavior’ could be from untreated syphilis: infectious disease !!!
ReplyDeleteQuote:
Neurosyphilis symptoms can manifest in an array of ways depending upon the patient.
“Commonly recognized symptoms include irritability, loss of ability to concentrate, delusional thinking, and grandiosity,” said Beutler. “Memory, insight, and judgment can become impaired.
Sounds like a definite possibility
http://www.rawstory.com/2017/02/trumps-bizarre-volatile-behavior-could-be-from-untreated-syphilis-infectious-disease-doctor/
I called it months ago...only I was claiming it was "syphilitic dementia" - I'm not sure if they are one and the same. Maybe this is why he is so adamant about not having his health records released; only had his wacky-quacky 'doc' write a half-sheet diagnosis (in five minutes, no less, as he waited in a limo outside) as to his being the 'healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency' - GAG!
DeleteJust one more reason to get rid of him.
ReplyDeleteWe should NOT be paying for Dumb and Dumber business trips !!!
We should not have to pay for security for 3 homes. This is ridiculous.
And just think, they get secret service after he is out of office.
All that money wasted and they are cutting money for the arts and education.
I was coming here to do an O/T and the subject matter was the first thing I saw. You have hard working Americans getting up everyday to put food on the table, save up to put their kids thru College, take care of their Families, and you got this sick f*ck living off the taxpayer's dime. He's NOT my President, but we got to work to get him out of the White House, ok people time to call up your Congressman and light a fire under their asses.
ReplyDeleteI'm contacting other Congresscritters like Chaffetz and telling them that even if I don't live in his district, I will make sure I donate a lot of money to his opponent when they're up for reelection.
DeleteWhat are we protecting him from? ISIS and the russians aren’t going to take him out, they are going to let him drive our country into a bigly sink hole all by himself.
ReplyDeleteThis makes me REALLY angry, especially since I am doing my taxes. This guy and his merry band of thieves don’t even pay taxes, so why should they get the benefits.
What is the budget for this? It could cost in the billions by the time he is done and in the mean time making money off all his businesses.
They should make them pay for their own security, because we sure are not getting value for OUR money !!!
Sure, Gryphen, it's true that Drumpf's capricious travels cost the taxpayers unnecessary millions, but what the dishonest media - CNN, NYT, WaPo, Weekly Pennysaver, etc - won;t tell the decent god-loving American people is that 104% of EVERY dollar spent on Drumpf's travels is going DIRECTLY into Crooked Hillary's and "rude nickname' Obama's pockets!!! SAD!!!
ReplyDeleteThe good news is that Drumpf promises a tremendous, tremendous effort in the months and years ahead, incredible effort, to stop such wasteful and corrupt payments to the two most dishonest Democrats in the last 1000 years without preventing the good Americans from getting to worship Dear Leader in their home towns and local Drumpf golf resorts!
THANK LORD JEEBUS FOR PRESIDENT DRUMPF!!!
How mentally deranged do you have to be 4:01 PM to write such lying shit? Can you asshole deplorables think of anything but blaming Clinton and Obama for the things your dumbness has actually brought into the mix? Look at history and see which party has raped our country, given us recessions and illegal wars. The ignorance you alt right display makes you as stupid as the rest of the members of your Rethug, racist party. Try climbing out of the swamp and read a little history and geography and then come back and talk sanely.
DeleteUntil you wrote this entry I am not sure I knew how utterly, utterly, certifiably crazy you right wing idiots actually are. What the hell are you on? Better up the quality of it because it is clearly frying your brain - or whatever is left of it.
5:35 - Relax, satire. Beldar the Conehead I suspect. It's 'his' style.
DeleteIt's actually funny.
Trump is probably bankrupt. He desperately needs money from Putin, that much is clear.
ReplyDeleteI like what 3:42 PM said - light a fire under their asses. We should all make a sport of tormenting our Republican reps- after all, they've never thought twice about tormenting us.
@4:07PM - I too think Drumpf is likely bankrupt. I posted here sometime back that he owes Wells Fargo over 400 million, China banks over 600 million, Russia over 600 million. BUT I posted that he has owed Deutsche Bank over 300 million for over 3 years that they have been unable to collect but it is apparently an error. A short notice (can't recollect source site) states Russia is/was laundering money for Drumpf through Deutsche Bank and so far the amount comes to 1.3 billion plus!!!! No doubt someone is chasing this info down. We know he did not use that cash infusion to pay his debts because they remain in the media.
DeleteI am not savvy about securitization but apparently when banks carry a debt for so long the debts get lumped and names of debtors are no longer attached on the list and it is called securitization. Thus we really do not know how much Drumpf owes any of these establishments nor for how long he has owed it. Total up what I have listed here and you can see he is easily 2 biliion in debt. You know for sure these figures are valid and likely very, very conservative, otherwise Drumpf would be screaming about them being out there for all to see!
Anon at 6:16 pm. if such debts are at a certain point called "securitization," does that mean that the debtor is then off the hook for paying them? Has Trump weaseled out of his bank debts?
DeleteBeaglemom
Just look at that picture. He thinks he is pretty boy royalty with a huge brain. Be afraid. He is a demented personality.
ReplyDeleteBut, they are "WORKING" weekends, so it's all good. Because a potus can't work in the Oval Office on weekends, what with the vacuuming and dusting and such. Besides, as hard as drumpf works and as much as he has accomplished every week, he needs-no- DESERVES a mini vacation each weekend.
ReplyDeleteO/T kinda but John McCain is sure giving aDump some verbal lashing in the last several days. Hmm... has anyone heard if Sarah the grifter Palin has weighed into this latest war of words between her two sugar daddies?? Can't imagine her siding with one over the other.
ReplyDeleteJohn McCain is all talk. He is still voting just like a party line Republican.
DeleteWhen he actually starts voting against Despotus and the rest of the conservatives, then he will get credit for standing up for the right thing.
Archie Butt.
OT:"For those on the left who are screaming at Democrats to do something, this is what they are doing. Senate Democrats are USING THE RULES to their advantage to leave Trump with an understaffed administration, and Senate Republicans unable to get legislation through Congress." <KARMA!

Want to Bet? trump is wearing those cheap a$$ given to charlie sheen 'T' fake diamond cufflinks?
ReplyDeletehttp://nypost.com/2016/06/21/trump-has-been-giving-out-fake-diamond-cuff-links-for-years/
We can't afford this ponpous POS. Melania should move into the WH and do her wifely duty. She married this Lard Ass, and now she has to live with him. As a tax payer, I won't pay for Melania to maintain her lifestyle. And that goes for his brood as well.
ReplyDeleteIt seems to me that there must be excellent private schools in he DC area for Barron. Presidents' children have been educated there for quite a few years now . . . . Staying in NYC is an excuse, not a reason.
DeleteBeaglemom
Tinfoil hat time: Trump is using US security forces to protect his family as he is deeply in debt to the Russian mafia. The US taxpayer will foot this bill for the rest of Trump’s life. Sadly, this doesn’t seem as far fetched as the other realities that have come to pass this week regarding the Trump administration’s screw ups!
ReplyDeleteHe doesn't give a shit what it costs. He is a spoiled brat (don't they know I'm the president!?) and will do exactly what he wants.
ReplyDeleteHe's like one of those third world dictators in Africa, where the family all own Rolls Royces, lives in luxury and the people live in the most abject poverty in the world.
Trump wants to live the life of a despot. He thinks he was elected to it. That he can do anything he wants with no limits. His every whim and want must be provided. And whatever he says shall be done with absolutely no protest or criticism.
He's a three year old dictator with the power of nuclear weapons.
Remember that old Twilight Zone "It's a Good Life" with Billy Mumy as a child with unlimited power? He could make people "go away" if they crossed him in any way.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/It's_a_Good_Life_(The_Twilight_Zone)
That's Trump. A six year old bully who has been voted into a position of power. Thank goodness he doesn't possess the powers of Anthony.
Republicans and Jason Chaffetz have just cost the state of Utah $45 MILLION dollars.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/utah-outdoor-retail-show-public-lands_us_58a760ece4b07602ad548b2b?
"After months of sparring with Utah politicians over their repeated attacks on public land protections, including the creation of Bears Ears National Monument, the world’s largest outdoor retail show has decided to part ways with Salt Lake City and find a new home."
"The biannual outdoor gear show has been held in Salt Lake for more than two decades. Each year, it draws hundreds of brands and suppliers, and roughly 40,000 visitors. It generates $45 million for the Salt Lake economy.
In an interview with the Salt Lake Tribune, a spokesman for Herbert said Outdoor Retailer’s decision is “offensive” and “reflects a gross ingratitude” for the city of Salt Lake."
Now exactly what part does "gratitude" play in the Republican free market capitalism system? In what was is it "offensive" for a company to move to a more hospitable location that benefits it's bottom line and more closely serves it's customer base?
"The association, however, says Utah has “a long history of anti-public land sentiment and action,” including supporting the transfer of public lands to the state and overturning a newly established monument."
"Major outdoor retailers vowed to take action if the Republican leaders refused to stop challenging the designation. Patagonia, the upscale outdoor apparel giant known for its environmental activism, pledged to boycott the state. Peter Metcalf, co-founder of the gear chain Black Diamond Equipment, urged the Outdoor Retailer show, which he helped bring to Utah 20 years ago, to leave the state. Patagonia pulled out of the event earlier this month."
Now this is exactly the kind of discipline that is needed with our public servants. You warn them of the consequences of their actions and if they persist, you follow through. You FOLLOW THROUGH!
"And neighboring Colorado already has its sights set on becoming the next host.
In a newspaper advertisement published this week, Conservation Colorado touted the state’s “stronger beer,” “taller peaks” and love of public lands."
And "higher" recreation. We know what that's code for.
I do hope they relocate to Colorado and then thumb their noses at Utah.
Fuck Utah. I still haven't forgiven them for interfering in California politics.
So, as a society, we've decided that feeding a hungry 5-year-old a sandwich is *too expensive*, but (the collective) we have no problem forking out $10 Million to send a self-proclaimed billionaire to Florida for the weekend, and (the collective) we have no problem providing $1 Million a day in security so his trophy wife can loll about her penthouse suite.
ReplyDeleteYep, pieces of shit, US people have to pay. Just impeach the fat disgusting pos! US money should be for US work only! People don'pay taxes, fill out forms for extensions, til the fat disgusting things tax returns are revealed and more!
ReplyDeleteThey disgust me!
Any chance that he's jetting off to Mar a Lago to get some?? I'm fairly certain it would be difficult to get women in and out of the White House. And with Melania in New York, and his tiny hands and all, pressure builds.
