A petition is circulating calling for Melania Trump to move to the White House or pay her own security while Florida wants Donald Trump to start reimbursing them for his visits.

Courtesy of AOL News:

An online petition is calling for first lady Melania Trump to move to the White House or pay for her own security at New York City's Trump Tower.

The Change.org petition, addressed to the U.S. Senate, has collected tens of thousands of signatures since it was started a week ago.

"The U.S. taxpayer is paying an exorbitant amount of money to protect the First Lady in Trump Tower, located in New York City," the petition reads. "As to help relieve the national debt, this expense yields no positive results for the nation and should be cut from being funded."

Police Commissioner James O'Neill told lawmakers last month that securing Trump Tower cost his department $127,000 to $146,000 each day, with this daily rate reaching $308,000 when the president is actually in the city.

This seems more than fair to me.

Florida is also being crushed beneath the financial burden of having a president visit their state almost every weekend.

Courtesy of The Hill:

Rep. Lois Frankel (D-Fla.) called on Trump to either provide federal reimbursements to the local governments incurring increased security costs or cut back his trips to the resort.

“While we want the fullest protection for your visits, we hope you would be responsive to the losses of small businesses and residents of Palm Beach County,” Frankel wrote in a letter to Trump released on Monday, which was co-signed by fellow Democratic Florida Reps. Alcee Hastings and Ted Deutch.

“If compensation is not assured of being forthcoming, we respectfully ask that you curtail your visits until such time as that matter is resolved favorably to our area.”

The lawmakers outlined the piling costs of Trump’s visits to Mar-a-Lago to date: $1.7 million in overtime work paid by the the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Department and Fire Rescue and $60,000 in overtime to the City of West Palm Beach law enforcement handling protests.

Trump’s hosting of Chinese President Xi Jinping at Mar-a-Lago next month is expected to cost the sheriff and fire departments $280,000 alone, according to the letter.

Trump's weekend visits also interrupt air traffic, costing the airport around $30,000 each time.

It does not take a financial wizard to recognize that this is easily the most expensive presidency in American history. And let's not forget that Trump is also planning to cut taxes for the extremely wealthy and will instead attempt to finance his extravagant lifestyle by cutting social service programs that serve the neediest among us.

Let's face it, this country simply cannot afford a Trump presidency.

Google and Facebook have been doing this since forever. Yet billions still do Facebook and nearly as many engage in YouTube and have Google gmail accounts.

This is no different, it is only extending the same customer targeting capabilities to a broader range of companies.

It's a fact of life, and if those who are complaining about this didn't have a problem with Google and Facebook and cease doing business with those companies, then this should not be reason for concern.

If you have a grocery or department store loyalty card, guess what, same thing, your purchase history is used to send you targeted coupons or text message sales alerts. Some companies share that info with other companies, some don't

If you live in this world and use even a tiny bit of technology you're already there so please stop the hysterics over this new development.

      It's NOT the same.

I choose what loyalty cards I have and which ones I use.

I CHOOSE. And when I decide to stop, I stop.

I don't do Facebook and for this specific reason. I opt out of anything that comes asking for permission (which by destroying this regulation with the CRA they no longer have to do, there is no longer any opting out and privacy can NEVER BE PUT BACK.)

I have location services turned off, cookies disabled and block pop-ups. I do as much as I can to keep my privacy private. This destruction with "no backsies" means I no longer have a say, I no longer have any choice and they're making it PERMANENT. The rule can never be put back because of the CRA.

My ISP has no business selling my privacy; I pay them for a service, they do not pay me for my information.

I will be monitoring my ISP provider and if they do indeed decide to mine my data and sell it, I'll be going to VPN and if that isn't enough TOR.

      Screw them.

I am not a commodity nor am I owned by the government or private corporations, to be used (and discarded) at their whim.

The funny (not!) thing is, that starting next year, the EU will implement strong Internet privacy laws, which will penalize any company that divulges your private information to anyone if you are an EU citizen (and you can live anywhere in the world, do not have to live in the EU!)
The penalty is a pretty hefty percentage of the company's GLOBAL REVENUES (NOT profits!). This will be quite some fight with the US companies!

Bill the asshole and make him pay!! Plus, send a copy of the billing notice to the media so it can be verified as to having been sent!

The taxpayers should not be responsible for ANY of the extras the Trumps have put upon us. Someone has to step up and stop their actions. I call for impeachment!

Has anyone noticed the full out change Trump is putting forth as well as some members of the Republican party? (all of this is running constantly on MSNBC and CNN as a united front.) I'm calling it a 'full court press'!

He/they are trying to increase his approval rating from 36%. Now he is a supporter of women in the work force! Talks about all the women he has surrounding him! Too bad his words don't match his history!

I don't trust the guy as far as I can throw him and doubt he is being truthful about his major 'changes'!

Does anybody else notice how particularly awful Trump is looking these days? He's noticeably puffier, flabbier, and pastier than during the campaign, and his hair is getting lighter. He's getting uglier, if that's even possible. I guess he doesn't have as much access to spa treatments, or else not winning is beginning to take its toll.

He's aging quickly and he's only been in office how many days? He'll die before his first term is over.

I'm glad I didn't cast my vote for him - he's failing daily and disliked throughout the world!

Just spent the day yesterday with my man interviewing to keep his Asian Orange etc. disability at the federal building in Mpls. Did not spit on the 45th's picture during security procedure as I am trying to stay off the no-fly list.
Surprised Trump hasn't attributed his orangeness to 'Nam. Of course his short stubby fingers can still tweet and the lies keep growing more bold.

He is 'saving'all that money from the important social programs, so he can use it for his asinine wall. The wall that will not impede HUMANS from crossing the border, but it will damage animals, whose natural habitat and territory will be destroyed and fenced. The animals know no borders, and they cross any border freely in search of food and also for breeding. Potentially irreparable damage being done there, since - of course - no environmental study has been done or will be done on that f_cking wall!

MELANIA TRUMP IS MOVING INTO THE WHITE HOUSE?

    BIG FUCKING DEAL!

PRINCESS SAID SHE WILL SPEND HALF HER TIME IN NEW YORK

How much will taxpayers spend on a jet taking Pricess to New York all the time?

How much will it cost for the Secret Service to stay in New York since she will be back?

How much will Trump charge rent for the Secret Service floor in Trump Tower?

    ALSO

"Mrs. Trump is honored to serve this country and is taking the role and responsibilities of first lady very seriously."

Really? Melania if you're honored to be the First Lady then keep your ass in the White House and learn how to speak English instead of running off to your Golden Tower.

    The Hill:
Mrs. Trump will be moving to DC and settling in to the White House at the end of the school year, splitting her time between New York and DC in the meantime," she said in a February statement. "Mrs. Trump is honored to serve this country and is taking the role and responsibilities of first lady very seriously."

I want to know the total costs to date for additional security and travel for the Donald and his current wife since Inauguration Day.

Will Trump also be able to use his "winter White House" at tax payers expense as a personal tax deduction as a business expense.

Trump's Florida home is not "the winter White House" even if the pathological liar declares it is.

I am hoping he can be removed soon. Not soon enough I know. The GOP is sucking it in and down to use him as battering ram to get a lot of what they want that they'd never have gotten so quickly. He's their wet dream come true. They'll get rid of him as soon as he's no use to him. It will take the Republicans to get him out. That Congress is owned by the GOP has rendered the Democrats neutered

Dems neuter themselves by not bothering to show up and vote in the midterms. They stayed home in 2010 and we got a Tea Party Congress, many of whom are still seated. Dems fared no better in subsequent midterms.

There is little chance to do anything but maintain the status quo in 2018 and then in 2020 Dems could have a chance to gain seats, but only if they overcome their voter apathy when it comes to midterm voter participation.

  22. Next time a Deplorable complains about his own services being cut, you can remind him that someone has to pay for Drumpf's despotic lifestyle in Florida and you can't expect the rich and powerful to pay for it and still get their tax cuts.

Since little donnie is using his “money making” resort as a “white house” we should not have to foot the bill for his security.

I would be interested to know how many times he actual visited Mar a Lago before he became president. He probable couldn’t afford to go there as often, now that we are paying the bills, he is there every weekend.

Bet he didn’t play golf every weekend either. Again they are his ‘money making” golf clubs, he should foot the bill.

Trump tower is a “money making” office/condo building; we should not foot the bill.
