Hours before it was to take effect, President Donald Trump's revised travel ban was put on hold Wednesday by a federal judge in Hawaii after hearing arguments that the executive order discriminates on the basis of nationality.
The ruling came as opponents renewed their legal challenges across the country, asking judges in three states to block the executive order that targets people from six predominantly Muslim countries.
More than half a dozen states are trying to stop the ban, and federal courts in Maryland, Washington state and Hawaii heard arguments about whether it should be put into practice early Thursday.
U.S. District Court Judge Derrick Watson decision prevents the executive order from going into effect, at least for now. Hawaii had requested a temporary restraining order.
Hawaii also argued that the ban would prevent residents from receiving visits from relatives in the six countries covered by the order. The state says the ban would harm its tourism industry and the ability to recruit foreign students and workers.
As you might imagine this annoyed Orange Hitler to no end, and so he held another rally where he said this:
“This ruling makes us look weak ― which, by the way, we no longer are, believe me. Just look at our borders,” Trump told a crowd at a campaign-style rally in Tennessee. “We are going to fight this terrible ruling. We’re going to take our case as far as it needs to go, including all the way up to the Supreme Court. We are going to win.”
And this:
“It’s a watered-down version of the first one,” Trump said of his new ban. “And let me tell you something: I think we ought to go back to the first one and go all the way, which is what I wanted to do in the first place.”
That sound you hear is every White House layer slamming their heads into the wall after hearing their client essentially make the case himself that this bill is essentially a watered down version of the first one, which his lawyers had argued it most certainly was not.
And if you remember Rudy Giuliani said this about that first travel ban:
“When [Mr. Trump] first announced it, he said, ‘Muslim ban.’ He called me up. He said, ‘Put a commission together. Show me the right way to do it legally.’”
And those words were actually cited by the judge in Hawaii when he put the brakes on this latest version.
I swear it's like watching the Keystone Kops run the White House.
I can't stop laughing at "keystone cops" running the White House. Trump is pathetic.
ReplyDeleteI was told about a white patron at a public cultural event who was furious about being required with everyone else to go through security screening. She demanded that racial profiling be done instead because she "does not look like a terrorist!".
No doubt she is a Trump supporter who is delusional that only Muslim people are dangerous and maybe Mexicans too.

"President Trump’s former national security adviser, Mike Flynn, was paid tens of thousands of dollars by Russian companies shortly before he became a formal adviser to the then-candidate, according to documents obtained by a congressional oversight committee that revealed business interests that hadn’t been previously known.
Mr. Flynn was paid $11,250 each by a Russian air cargo company that had been suspended as a vendor to the United Nations following a corruption scandal, and by a Russian cybersecurity company that was then trying to expand its business with the U.S. government. "

ReplyDeleteHis budget proposal is draconian, as is to be expected from this privileged ignorant child.
It cuts Meals on Wheels. Jeesh.
DeleteHe's a vicious narcissist like Palin. He cares only for himself.
DeleteSo is he going to prove there is no waste in the military? How about those $400 screwdrivers we hear about?
DeleteHow about the navy scandal with $10million missing?
===================================
Mulvaney: Proposed cuts to Meals on Wheels are compassionate to taxpayers
Mulvaney described the budget blueprint, which calls for dramatic cuts to domestic spending programs in favor of increased funding for the military, as “one of the most compassionate things we can do.”
He explained that the budget proposal is compassionate to the taxpayer because it stops government spending on programs that he said have been ineffective.
“You're only focusing on half of the equation, right? You’re focusing on recipients of the money. We’re trying to focus on both the recipients of the money and the folks who give us the money in the first place,” Mulvaney told reporters. “And I think it's fairly compassionate to go to them and say, ‘look, we're not going to ask you for your hard-earned money anymore… unless we can guarantee to you that that money is actually going to be used in a proper function. And I think that is about as compassionate as you can get.”
.... Asked specifically about Meals on Wheels, Mulvaney noted that the food delivery service is not a federal program but is instead funded by states using money from the federal government.
On after-school programs, Mulvaney said services intended to help feed hungry students in order to improve their academic performance deserve to be cut because proof of that progress has not materialized.
“They're supposed to be educational programs, right? I mean, that’s what they’re supposed to do. They're supposed to help kids who don't get fed at home get fed so they do better in school,” Mulvaney said. “Guess what? There's no demonstrable evidence they're actually doing that. There's no demonstrable evidence they're actually helping results, helping kids do better in school… the way we justified it was, these programs are going to help these kids do better in school and get better jobs. And we can’t prove that that’s happening.”

Trump seeks to axe Appalachia social programs, causing worry in coal country
President Donald Trump has proposed eliminating funding for social programs supporting laid-off coal miners and others in Appalachia, stirring fears in a region that supported him of another letdown on the heels of the coal industry’s collapse.
The 2018 budget proposal submitted to Congress by the White House on Thursday would cut funds to the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) and the U.S. Economic Development Administration. The Washington-based organizations are charged with diversifying the economies of states like West Virginia and Kentucky to help them recover from coal’s decline.
The proposed cuts would save the federal government $340 million and come as the Republican president seeks to slash a wide array of federal programs and regulations to make way for increased military spending......

Mulvaney is a clueless dolt. MoW is one of the best programs out there - largely staffed by volunteers , it keeps many seniors in their own homes - yeah, out of hosptitals due to poor nutrition and provides a wellness check at no cost, because that's a by product of the deliveries. .

Documents detail Flynn payments from Russian interests
By STEPHEN BRAUN and CHAD DAY - The Associated Press
WASHINGTON (AP) Documents released in a congressional inquiry show former national security adviser Michael Flynn was paid more than $33,750 by RT, Russia's government-run television system, for appearing at a Moscow event in December 2015. Flynn had retired months earlier as head of the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency.
Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., wants the Defense Department to recover the payments, saying they violate the Constitution's emoluments clause, which prohibits retired military officers from accepting gifts from foreign governments.
Russia's RT network was identified last year by U.S. intelligence as a propaganda arm of the Russian government.
Flynn was also paid $11,250 each by two other Russian firms, including a major cybersecurity company.
A Flynn spokesman said Thursday that Flynn informed the government before he went to Moscow and on his return.
Iraq bought it's way off the list.
ReplyDeleteTrump still hasn't explained why real threats, like Pakistan and Afghanistan are not ON the list.
I guess he can't explain his bigotry to rational people.

Autoworkers paid to attend as Trump vows to make cars dirtier, less competitive, and more costly
.....And, for all those Trump surrogates who were desperate to find evidence of a conspiracy, these supporters were literally bused in.
Many of the autoworkers on site told WWJ’s Jeff Gilbert they were given time off with pay to attend the event, some of them brought on buses to the American Center for Mobility — the site of the old Willow Run bomber plant, west of Detroit.

Health bill short of votes, GOP leaders look to Trump
By ERICA WERNER and ALAN FRAM - The Associated Press
WASHINGTON (AP) Short of votes for their health care bill, Republican congressional leaders turned to President Donald Trump on Thursday to wrangle support for the divisive legislation they hope to push through Congress before Easter.
But Trump sounded more like he was at the start of a negotiation than ready to close the deal. And combined with opposition from Republicans of all stripes, the president's flexible stance suggested final passage of the bill could be delayed, potentially exposing the legislation to the same kind of extended public backlash that undermined former President Barack Obama's Affordable Care Act from the start.................
Speaking to reporters on Air Force One Wednesday night, Trump said he expected to get a health care bill through, adding: "It's going to get all mixed up and we're going to come up with something. We always do."

I looked at traitor trump’s tax return and I think he leaked it and may have typed it up himself in 2017.
ReplyDeleteUnder 3rd party designee NAME, it was typed “Preparer”, obviously they want a name of the person, not the title. Seems like an odd “mistake” for a tax preparer to make
Also Rachel stated he paid $38 million in taxes, but didn’t mention he still owed about $2.5 million without interest and penalty.
He had $24,000 in foreign tax credit, so he has stock in foreign companies, would need the form 1116 to see which countries.
The other lie was under Melanomia’s occupation it listed “Model” HA HA
Omg, what a dumb as dumb prez.

‘Makes absolutely no sense’: Canadian nurses banned from their Detroit jobs under new Trump rules
According to CBC News, Canadian nurses returning to their jobs last week were shocked when they were turned away by U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agents.
There have been reports that nurses with jobs at Henry Ford in Detroit were unable to renew their visas, and one of the hospital’s new hires was denied entry into the country.
Advanced practice nurses — such as anesthetists — with non-immigrant NAFTA professional (TN) visas are impacted by the new rules. CBC reported that “30,000 to 40,000 Canadians work in the U.S with TN visas.”
“We really question the motives,” immigration lawyer Marc Topoleski told CBC. “All of the immigration executive orders and all the things being rolled out have been focused on national security first, and this is clearly not an issue of national security whatsoever.”
“These specialty nurses are hard to find. There’s more positions than there are people available,” he added. “They’re coming here to help our patients. I just don’t understand what the policy goal is by doing something like this, it just makes absolutely no sense.”

Meanwhile, I traveled over to the shitswamp aka sea of pee so you don't have to. The few remaining and on their last legs mole rats are now advocating a military coup against the judicial branch of government. Evidence that they failed Civics/US government 101:
ReplyDeleteAgain the liberal and may I suggest CRIMINAL actions by an Obama appointed judge has decided that he is more powerful the the POTUS and has interfered in Trumps attempts to protect this country. Surely there is something the POTUS can do to combat these seditious bas-turds. A squad of combat Marines showing up in their chambers might have the desired effect?
And the VG guy wonders why his military buddy (Ases)doesn't visit anymore? Smart guy is likely afraid to be charged with associating with a traitor or participation in a coup attempt. (Though by the sound of it, all five of their mediscooters wouldn't make a very impressive sight.)
