Yesterday Donald Trump stripped away much of the protections that President Obama put in place to protect our planet.

(Did you see Mike Pence nodding his fundamentalist head in the background. Dumb shit thinks Jesus Christ is coming back tomorrow so he has no sense of the need to preserve earth's future.)

Courtesy of Reuters:

President Donald Trump on Tuesday signed an order to undo Obama-era regulations to curb climate change, keeping a campaign promise to support the coal industry while calling into question U.S. support for an international deal to fight global warming.

Flanked by coal miners, Trump enacted his "Energy Independence" executive order at the Environmental Protection Agency. A coalition of 23 states and local governments vowed to fight the order in court.

The order's main target is former President Barack Obama's Clean Power Plan, which required states to slash carbon emissions from power plants - a key factor in the United States' ability to meet its commitments under a climate change accord reached by nearly 200 countries in Paris in 2015.

Trump's decree also reverses a ban on coal leasing on federal lands, undoes rules to curb methane emissions from oil and gas production and reduces the weight of climate change and carbon emissions in policy and infrastructure permitting decisions.

Carbon dioxide and methane are two of the main greenhouse gases blamed by scientists for heating the earth.

"I am taking historic steps to lift restrictions on American energy, to reverse government intrusion and to cancel job-killing regulations," Trump said at the EPA.

In the past Trump's executive orders have mostly hurt certain groups of people one at a time, Muslims and Mexicans for instance, but this order....this order affects all of us and even endangers future generations.

My hope is that many of these policy ideas will be challenged in court and will not survive legal scrutiny.

Of course if Neil Gorsuch gets confirmed to the Supreme Court even that final obstacle may be removed.

We have truly stepped through the looking glass. I guess the need to hurt President Obama's policy supersedes the good of all people. Ridiculous.

And the asshole says everyone will be in step with him? Give me a friggin' break! He has done a deplorable job since taking his oath of office.

The majority have zero respect for the man or think he is sharp enough to run our country. Plus, he has alienated Americans as well as folks around the world!

    1. That's exactly it. Even those regretful Trump voters are, many of them, telling themselves things won't get so bad before some beneficent deity rescues us from own stupidity, gambling all of us. If such deity existed, wouldn't he, she or it be fed up enough by now to ditch this 'experiment' and go back to the drawing board building wiser creatures.

And how many GOP members of Congress knew about this before the election? I'm willing to bet that many of them did and decided to do nothing about it because all they cared about was beating Hillary Clinton or any Democrat who might have been running in 2016. They wanted the political "triple crown," all three branches of government and they didn't care if that meant selling the country to Putin or to any other highest bidder.

    NOT ANOTHER BROKEN PROMISE

As a business man and president, Trump you should know you have to do your research before telling coalminers they're going back to work. No wonder you filed for bankruptcy more than double your failed marriages, you suck.

    TRUMP YOU'RE FIRED

    WASHINGTON POST
Trump promised to bring back coal jobs. That promise ‘will not be kept,’ experts say.

By Darryl Fears March 29 at 8:00 AM

President Trump lifted a moratorium on federal coal leases Tuesday, paving the way for excavation of a fossil fuel on public land in the West that few mining companies seem to want.

With coal miners gathered around him, Trump signed an executive order rolling back a temporary ban on mining coal and a stream protection rule imposed by the Obama administration. The order follows the president’s campaign promise to revive the struggling coal industry and bring back thousands of lost mining jobs in rural America.

“I made them this promise,” Trump said, “we will put our miners back to work.”

But industry experts say coal mining jobs will continue to be lost, not because of blocked access to coal, but because power plant owners are turning to natural gas. At least six plants that relied on coal have closed or announced they will close since Trump’s victory in November, including the main plant at the Navajo Generating Station in Arizona, the largest in the West. Another 40 are projected to close during the president’s four-year term.

There is something about seeing pictures of him and his minions -- not only are they so male, and white, but also very old. There is NO diversity on any measure when they gather together to discuss what they want to do to the country.

These old guys have just not learned anything about the state of the world in the last 40+ years. Guess they have all been too busy getting rich by plundering our world. That is all that matters to these men. Trying to talk sense and facts with them is just a waste of time. Just look at them!!! They are all out-dated. At a time when they should be retiring and just enjoying themselves in the sun and sand, they are instead overturning any and all progressive, up to date laws that will help humanity, in favor of the old harmful ways that are all they know. Oh, any also making themselves richer while the rest of us will get poorer and poorer as we get more and more unhealthy.

Until we learn to vote in people young enough to actually have a chance to still be alive in the future, there will be few in government with any regard for that future -- at least among the Republicans -- and how to make it better by how we treat it today.

And, btw, I am 79 and a former Republican. Somehow my parents raised their 3 girls to observe and think -- something our current administration seems unable to do at all.

After the last 2 months I have just given up. There is not a single statement that comes out of the mouth of Trump, or any of his people, that I will ever accept as 100% accurate. He cannot tell the truth about anything. His fantasy life is very fruitful for him, and horribly damaging for the rest of us.

I don't think anything he or his clones say is even 10% true. All Trump can do is lie and then accuse others of doing what he's been doing all along. Everything about this administration disgusts me.

  10. In a country where more people believe in the existence of angels than the settled science of climate change and evolution, I'm not sure how confounded we should be. Or much surprised we're now led by a 'president' who speaks of Frederick Douglass in the present tense.

  14. As long as the treasonous POS remains in office, our country is under siege by his creepy family and Putin. Anyone that believes we need more evidence of collusion to take action can only be someone that voted for this pig.

Every single day we're exposed to a dangerous dictator's control from Russia. Cheeto has never held the US in high regard. He's never shown an ounce of integrity or honor. He has a long history of fleecing American citizens out of life savings. He defied the sanctions against Cuba by using middlemen to participate in illegal business transactions. Russia is just one more financial resource for him. He put all of us in danger while he continues to collude with putin and likely using our money to pay his debts there.

Treasonist pig - I wish he'd be included on Putin's hit list. That's how dispicable I believe he is.

Pence looks like he's trying to stifle his happy face. At least he was aware that it was a serious moment. The moment when his boss started to set the wheels in motion to destroy the planet.

The GOP must be so happy. The billionaires can continue to pillage the earth unencumbered even by guilt. Don't any of these people care about the health of the planet? Don't any of them have children or grandchildren who will remember their parents and grandparents as the ones who ruined the air, the water for them and their children? Twenty-first century Republicans are all like small children, totally incapable of thinking of the future consequences of their actions. Trump is their perfect mascot.

The republicans are the mullahs of the west. They should never be allowed to gain power . Whenever they do they destroy something .
Hillary really was not the candidate to run against a seriously flawed man like Trump.
The Democratic Party needs to become the people's party again.
