German Chancellor Angela Merkel had to explain the European Union to Donald Trump 11 times.

Courtesy of Business Insider:

President Trump did not understand that the US cannot negotiate a trade deal with Germany alone and must deal with the European Union as a bloc, a senior German official told The Times of London.

"Ten times Trump asked [German chancellor Angela Merkel] if he could negotiate a trade deal with Germany. Every time she replied, 'You can’t do a trade deal with Germany, only the EU,'" the official said.

They continued: "On the eleventh refusal, Trump finally got the message, 'Oh, we’ll do a deal with Europe then.'"

Merkel reportedly told her cabinet members that Trump had "very basic misunderstandings" on the "fundamentals" of the EU and trade.

The exchange occurred when Merkel met with Trump last month and reportedly convinced him to negotiate with the EU as a bloc after attempts by his administration to deal with individual countries were declined.

If it is possible to die of shame the death rate in this country is about to spike considerably.

I literally never thought I would be more embarrassed about the person occupying the White House than I was during the Bush years.

God, was I wrong.

But, according to three people who were present, Bush gave a brief assessment of Trump’s inaugural after leaving the dais: “That was some weird shit.” All three heard him say it.

He said, ‘Well, I would have to work with you. I would have to work with you on that case. I would have to work with you really closely and it may require us getting to know each other better. That might have to happen away from here, it might have to happen at a hotel, do you know what I’m saying?” And I said ‘Yeah, I think I do know what you’re saying.'”

MTBB and Anon at 10:52 am. I know how you feel. I think that W's saving grace is the fact that his family had been in national politics for a long time that he grew up with some respect for the institution of government. Not enough respect for it, but some at least. Trump, however, in his gross ignorance, simply knows nothing about government, how it works or why it works. In his extremely limited way, Trump seems to think that having inherited a business and money means that he's smart and can do anything, including being the leader of the US and a world leader. He's incapable of even understanding how ill-equipped he is for the job he now has. Talk about being in "over your head"!

Shortly after the election I unfriended someone on Facebook that I had gone to school with years ago. She's always been very conservative but her posts in the months leading up to the election were typical of a Trump supporter - offensive comments about Clinton and excuses for all the disgusting behavior he showed during the campaign. I had blocked her posts months ago, but I would occasionally visit her page just to see the contortions she would achieve in her defense of her candidate.

I just checked out her page to see what she's posted recently. I thought it rather interesting that she hasn't posted anything regarding Trump since the day of the inauguration.

Even she can't defend the indefensible.

Next time German Chancellor Angela Merkel meets with the Orange Idiot, she may well have to repeat for an 11th, 12th, 13th, etc. time that he cannot make a deal with one member of the EU alone but that he has to deal through the EU because I strongly suspect that he has some form of cognitive impairment due to age because he forgets names, information, etc. That may also be a reason why Jared and Ivanka are close to him in the White House in order to cover up for him.

The EU concept was great. Unfortunately, it has been taken over by bureaucrats that think it is more important to rule about the size and curvature of a cucumber than anything else. (Yes, they actually ruled that a farmer cannot sell a cucumber that is more bent than a certain degree! That curved cucumber has to be destroyed! There are many more such follies that those bureaucrats have thought of, and that is what will be demise of the EU.)

How the Resistance and Donald Trump’s Russia scandal took down Jason Chaffetz

...But now comes the demise of House Oversight Committee chairman Jason Chaffetz, who had been tacitly trying to protect Trump by refusing to use his committee to investigate the Trump-Russia scandal. Chaffetz isn’t merely recusing himself; he’s abandoning what had been a rising political career in Congress. This appears to be a result of how he got himself tangled up in the Trump-Russia scandal. And his demise paints a roadmap for how the other co-conspirators can be expected to fall.

Make no mistake: Jason Chaffetz isn’t abruptly abandoning Congress for no reason. As we’ve previously documented (link), a week before he made his announcement, there was intel community buzz that Russia has been blackmailing him and the FBI knows it. And now he’s suddenly announcing that he won’t run again, a full twenty months before he would have been up for reelection. This kind of thing never happens mid career unless it’s due to scandal. And since making his announcement, even more intel community buzz has pointed to Chaffetz being caught up financially in the Trump-Russia scandal (link and link). With this much smoke, there is little doubt that there’s fire.

So the demise of Jason Chaffetz from Congress is a step forward for those who are seeking to take down Donald Trump over his Russia scandal.

    https://www.palmerreport.com/opinion/resistance-jason-chaffetz-casualty-trump-russia/2401/

With Jason Chaffetz bailing, Paul Ryan suddenly changes tune on Trump-Russia scandal

....When Jason Chaffetz announced this week that he’s bailing out of Congress at the end of his term and possibly much sooner than that, there was already mounting intel community buzz that he’d gotten mixed up in the Russia scandal and that the FBI was onto him (link). That raises the question of whether he’s bailing to try to run from the scandal. So with Chaffetz having been swallowed up, it’s fascinating that now Speaker Paul Ryan is suddenly voicing his own support for investigating the Trump-Russia scandal.

Trump Is Having A Real Time Breakdown Over The Collapse Of His Mexico Wall

...The unstable president is having a breakdown in 140 characters or less because Congress is refusing to fund his wall.

Contrary to what Trump tweeted, Republicans and Democrats oppose building his wall. The Wall Street Journal reported, “Most lawmakers representing the region—both Democrats and Republicans—said they are opposed and many said they have unanswered questions. A few were noncommittal, but not a single member of the House or Senate representing the region expressed support for the funding request. That includes nine members of the House and eight senators across four states: Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California.”

The region that the WSJ was talking about was the Southern border region. Lawmakers don’t want to give Trump anything for his wall. They are demanding that the president live up to his campaign promise, and make Mexico pay for the wall. Trump’s tweet that we can get Mexico to pay something for the wall, maybe, kind of, later was the sad backtracking of a president whose delusions have been confronted by reality.

Mexico isn’t paying for the wall, and neither is Congress.

Trump Pal Sean Hannity Accused Of Sexual Harassment As Fox News Scandal Grows

A former Fox News contributor has accused Sean Hannity of sexual harassment after he invited her back to his hotel room and then never booked her for his show again after she declined.

...Schlussel added that people should ask about Sean Hannity’s former executive producer, and why she quit.

She said, “This kind of stuff is all over the place at Fox News and anything that has to do with Sean Hannity.”

The Fox News sexual harassment scandal isn’t limited to Roger Ailes and Bill O’Reilly. People need to keep asking questions because it is clear that there is an entire culture of sexual harassment and illegal treatment of women at the network.

People need to take a closer look at Sean Hannity because the scandal at Fox News is showing no signs of slowing down.
